Jeromejnr: Yet some people still say what is the purpose of lockdowns across the world, because of their own selfish reasons. They reason based on sentiments and self centredness instead of logic.
Because things like these have not yet affected them. They want more families to go through this kind of trauma.

Health › Re: My Experience As A Covid 19 Survivor. by Luckydubby7(m): 1:45pm On May 15, 2020 |
osesology: Fellow Nairalanders, l want to first of all use this opportunity to thank God for saving my life from this dreaded virus called covid 19.
I'm from Edo state. I was one of the 20 people that were discharged on the 13th of this month. My purpose of writing this piece is to enlighten the people, especially the unbelievers on this forum that this virus is real. It is not a propaganda. Yes, l do not argue the fact that Govt has a way of taking advantage of situations like this, but when you are knowledgable, there is an extent at which you can be fooled.
This desease does not have the power that we are attributing to it. It took me just 7 days to recover because my case was detected early. The reason why people are still dying from this virus is due to ignorance and scepticisms. And when they eventually fall sick, it becomes too late
The day l received the call that my result came back positive, the health officials told me to take my time to get ready, and, even though they had my home address, told me to let them know where it will be convenient for me to wait for them to come pick me up. I'm saying this for those who keep say how come they don't see videos of patients on t.v. This was done so people don't stigmatize people close to me. Trust me, Nigerians are very good (or should l say bad) at that. Infact, the day after l was checked in the facility, one driver that works at my office who lives on the same street with my sister, went to that street to announce to anyone who cares to listen that her brother has tested positive to corona virus. Immediately, they started to stigmatize my sister, her husband and their three children. And these are people that l have had no contact with for weeks.
So, my main reason for writing this is for people to stop being ignorant. Get tested immediately you start to feel unwell. Early detection is the key to fighting this thing. When you are been screened, answer all the questions truthfully, don't hold any information back because it is due to the information you give that determines if you are eligible for testing or not. It is better you get tested and it comes out positive and receive treatment immediately than lie about your health, go home and die in ignorance.
Covid 19 is Real! Thanks. . U said treatment? So covid19 have drugs or vaccine now. |

Xisnin: He is just another fool. Aside from looting the national wealth, most Nigerian politicians are surprisingly dumb. They can't see the next move.
He could have checked Nigerian statistics on active malaria cases and compare them with the meager 5000 Covid-19 cases recorded for the last 3 months.
If the government had done nothing, doctors would have fled the hospital en masse or refuse to treat patients. People like him with high BP and various health conditions wouldn't survive a month without medical assistance. He doesn't care that doctors, nurses, pharmacists, other hospital workers, and emergency patients will suffer disproportionate deaths from the fallout of his proposed idiocy.
Unfortunately, the people that are supposed to be dying are not. . see one of them benefiting from covid 419 |

They said it was government neglect that led to the death of the evacuee. Speaking with The PUNCH, one of the returnees said, “The Lagos Health Commissioner came to visit us and we challenged him for saying that one of us died yesterday. What happened was that one of us had surgery in Dubai and he returned in a wheelchair. “Instead of taking him to a hospital because he was in critical condition, they decided to keep him in the isolation centre with us for two days and his condition got worse. He was then taken to a hospital where he eventually died. But the commissioner told the public that it was COVID-19 that killed him. “When we challenged the commissioner, he said he was misquoted by the media. We brought out our phones and told him to say it while we record, but he refused.” |

Health › COVID-19: Dubai Returnees Protest As Govt Attempts To Test Them by Luckydubby7(op): 10:47pm On May 13, 2020 |
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, on Wednesday, had a face-off with Dubai returnees who staged a protest at a hotel in Lekki where they are being isolated. According to the evacuees that spoke with The PUNCH, the commissioner, who was clad in a suit and red tie, arrived at the isolation centre in a black Sports Utility Vehicle past 12pm. The evacuees questioned the commissioner for telling the press on Tuesday that one of them died of COVID-19. We brought out our phones and told him to say it while we record, but he refused.” The returnees also lamented the quality of food being given to them, adding that it was unfit for human consumption. “I cannot feed my dog with this food,” one of them told The PUNCH. However, tensions heightened when the commissioner announced that the government would be administering a test on all of them. The enraged evacuees said they would not be tested unless their welfare improved. They subsequently sought to record the commissioner with their phones but he told them not to do so. He eventually hurried into his vehicle and sped off. “As we were voicing our concerns, he ran away! We asked him a simple question! Why we can’t record him if he is sincere? We are being treated like we are in Nazi Germany. At this point we don’t even trust them to test us and give us an accurate result,” he said. The commissioner did not respond to calls as of press time. No fewer than 256 evacuated Nigerians arrived in Lagos State from the United Arab Emirates on May 6, 2020. They arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, via an Emirates Airline about 07.40 p.m. While some were lodged in an isolation centre in Lekki, some others were taken to Ajao Estate. The PUNCH reports that upon their arrival, the evacuees were put on isolation for 14 days in line with the government’s COVID-19 protocol. https://punchng.com/covid-19-dubai-returnees-protest-as-govt-attempts-to-test-them/ |

Farki: You would be surprised that my work is to deal with malnourished children, but we have to put things into perspective here. If someone has diabetes it can be managed, they can't spread it to others and it takes a long time to die from it without management.
With Covid-19 you have about a month or so to live or die if it gets bad, even with the best hospitals the chances of survival after requiring ventilation is 50/50.
If it was Boko Haram killing people on the streets no one would dare to step outside, yet because the killer can't be seen it is not given the appropriate respect.

Alexk2: I disagree with you on this Seun. It was so premature in the first place to ease the lockdown when we did considering these three important factors; 1. We were so far behind in the area of testing so much so that community transmission broke forth before we could manage the foriengn import cases....uptill now, we are still lagging before compared to where we should be by now. Just imagine how many covid 19 virus carriers are walking in the streets of Lagos and sharing it since last week Monday!
2. Due to our failure above, the number of cases will keep increasing for now; we're still far from reaching the "peak" and the only logical option for now is a total lockdown while the govt must as a matter of urgency work on testing rates, isolation and management of Victims; this isn't about just Lagos state but the whole country.
3. Locking down FCT, Lagos and Ogun state only is a disaster in it's own from the start.....even if we succeed in these three places after an effective lockdown, people will carry the virus back to Lagos and Abuja thereafter. BTW, the borders are as porus as ever even during lock down.....yes I know someone will remind me of Kogi and cross-river state but it's only a typical Ostrich story who dip her head inside the ground claiming she's fine so far she's unaware of what's going on around her...It is better we face the reality now or we all face the consequences later; the choice is ours. It is a choice between life/health and wealth/economy. Only the living talks about money bro. . Mr. Health worker abi lazy government staff. No single point from all u just write now. If covid419 happened to be d way u few persons benefiting from it were painting it, we all supposed don die by now. |

KingKingKing: You are damn funny, Did you just say use facemasks? Don't you go out on the streets to see how non compliant Lagosians are? A lot of people do not value their lives thereby putting the lives of those who value their lives at risk!
The only language Nigerians understand is "Force" we gotta learn the hard way , we have sworn to be defiant and non compliant then we have to be locked up once again so as to protect those who are vulnerable from getting infected !
You also talk about the economy! Awww what a kind way to show how much you love the economy, ECONOMY MY FOOT! T The economy u love so much is being manhandled by the ruling elits who plunder and loot from the proceeds of the economy, while the poor man on the street is left to die!
My parting words to you seun DO NOT WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT THE ECONOMY BECAUSE WHEN THE ECONOMY GOES DOWN , GOVERNMENT KNOWS HOW TO REVIVE THE ECONOMY, WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THOSE YOU LOVE BECAUSE WHEN THEY ARE LOST, GOVERNMENT HAS GOT NO CLUE ON HOW TO REVIVE THEM.
A HEALTHY LIFE IS A HEALTHY ECONOMY! . who is sick? Those having sex in isolation centers or those protesting because of food? Whatever u think u are doing now, I bet u, u will need customer tomorrow. By the time 50% of Nigeria loss their jobs then u will understand. |
