This took me back to memory lane. I was born and raised, baptized, and confirmed Catholic. I even went to a junior seminary.

My younger brother died in an accident some years back and we had to inter him. To my utter consternation the requirements for his burial were so steep and apparently never ending.

No one seemed to care about the grief of the family at this time. Items like baptismal card, parish card and a number of documents and receipts were required. It was so sad. This boy died suddenly and yet we had to provide these items.

At some point I decided to hire a protestant church to officiate but my parents ts objected. I had to use my connections in securing bogey documents from my classmate who is a parish priest in a neighbouring diocese just to ensure that my parents were relieved.

To add insult to injury, I had to buy diesel for the church Generator, settle the priest, choir, catchiest and church wardens but to mention a few.

That was the very last time I entered a Catholic church or indeed any other church. This stance will never change.

Same thing happened when my brother died in South Africa. The priest and the church kept saying trash. At a point my elder brother became fed up with the whole situation that he wanted to invite another denomination to pray so as to lay my brother to test, but my Mama refuse saying it must be Catholic Church cos my brother was born and baptised in her. My elder brother spent not less than 100k just to clear the supposed bill before the priest came. After that day my brother refused going to Catholic Church. Though my mom is still strong in her.
