FamilyRe: Your Child Says, "Daddy, Mommy, I'm Gay!" by lunafish(f): 5:40pm On May 20, 2006
#1Lola:
i swear You people are crazy like for real most of you let your husband beat you and now this sht if your child is gay then he/she is , and you cannot change that. and if you believe in th lord than you know everything is written for you already so therefore the fact that they are gay souldnt phase you because He chose that to happen , " my child is going to be raised with the lord" i can't believe that your serious like for real its a shame
I agree. People are born gay- it's not a choice. You can only be who you are.
If you ask me, it's you homophobes who shoiuld be outcast for the negativity and ignorance you spread without shame.
FamilyRe: Children Beating Up Their Father When He Is Beating Their Mother by lunafish(f): 5:25pm On May 20, 2006
I would like to thank those children. What they're doing is unorthodox but it's the best they feel they can do in this situation.

If a parent is being overly abusive I feel that the children has a right to defend themselves and they are being selfless by defending their mother.

Unfortunately the best weapon the mother has is her feet. She needs to leave.

I don't blame the kids. the murderous side in me would come out if someone was abusing my mother.
TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Movies That Should Not Be Watched - Never Ever! by lunafish(f): 8:51am On May 20, 2006
Indulgence is just horrible to watch. Ernest Obi and Chici Mokeme fill the screen with nonsense, murdered english and useless conversations. Ini Odo plays a really naive, stupid caharacter and some woman who looks like she has a crack habit stars aswell. It's just appalling. Patience Ozokwor offors some relief but she can't save the film.

Trés terrible!!!!!!
CrimeRe: What Do You Boys Out There Have To Say On Boys Beating Up There Girlfriends by lunafish(f): 1:34pm On May 19, 2006
I would NOT tolerate that bulls*hit treatment.

Ladies: men will only do what you let them get away with. Don't put up with it.

The day a man raises his hand to me will be the sorriest day of his life:

Either
I'll end up in jail for the untimely "Massacre"
or
He'll go insane from the psychological warfare of being abandoned by the best thing that's ever happened to him.

Ladies don't drop the standards! Expect the best and settle for nothing less- you'll win in the end trust me.
TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Movies That Should Not Be Watched - Never Ever! by lunafish(f): 8:35am On May 19, 2006
Player Just because Genevieve is in it don't be fooled. it's a half-bakes script with erratic and useless performances. Genny does her best but even she can't save this film from it's tacky predictability.
TV/MoviesWorst Performance In A Nollywood Movie by lunafish(op): 8:32pm On May 18, 2006
I need names and films. (reasons are optional)

I'll start,

Hanks Anuku in Player (the accent, the confused and shoddy performance, the disgrace)
Tony Umez in Blood Sisters (that one stupid facial expression that was asking for a slap, his apathy was astounding and his performance was terrible)
Rita Dominic in Player (she was poorly directed and couldn't contain her hysterics)
Chidi Mokeme and Ernest Obi in Indulgence (the film was abysmal but their performances are just terrible and hard to watch)
RomanceRe: I Want To Love by lunafish(f): 8:11pm On May 18, 2006
The worst thing we can do is lie to someone when we don't reciprocate their feelings.
Staying around- it looks like you're toying around with him.
You live togehter and you're playing house but your heart's not in it. it's not fair on him or you.
My advice would be to end the relationship because it's not based on truth and love. More convenience than anything else.

Don't hurt him- don't hurt yourself.
RomanceRe: Nigerian Girls Like To Mother Their Boyfriends by lunafish(f): 8:09pm On May 18, 2006
Some women act like mothers because their men behave like children.

Sometimes one overcompensates for what's lacking in the relationship by embodying that portion themselves.
FamilyRe: Right Age to Date (for children) by lunafish(f): 10:57am On May 18, 2006
As I parent I would base my relationship with my child on communication. I would discuss sex with them from a young age.

If they said they had a boy/girlfriend I would not make a big deal about it,
that just provokes young people to rebel. When you don't pressure your children, your relationship is more open. That way, they would be free to ask any questions and trust you. They would also feel trusted and respected and be less likely yto be swayed by an external party. It's not a big deal.

If my child (male or female) was dating at 13 I wouldn't mind- as long as it was a safe, fun experience (not sex.) I think that it's important for young people to be able to have different kinds of relationships with people of the opposite sex so that they become streetwise and empowered. Through their teenage years I would tell them everything about sex and relationships for knowledge is power.

If you keep your kids on lock they either become vulnerable to the world, or rebellious.
CultureRe: Bride Price/dowry, Do You Support Or Oppose It? by lunafish(f): 8:48pm On May 17, 2006
Damest09:
I support the bride price, stating they are not selling their daughter, they give her to the man and the man should take good care of her.
If they are not selling their daughter why does money exchange hands in the first place? What is the point to giving money to recience it back? That the most ignorant s*hit I heard all day.

If she is not being seen as a possession then why is money such a big factor. Surely her family shouls be most concerned at whether he would be the right PERSON for her. Not the right Money flasher.

I am disgusted by the homophobic views expressed on this website and particularly in this topic.
How can you ostracize and alienate your own family especially children?
I don't care what religion you are or what convoluted morals you use to justify that ignorant behaviour-that s*hit is wrong.

What is wrong with homosexuality?
Nothing I repeat nothing.

If you disagree and are fuelled on hate and ignorance, I pity you.

FamilyRe: Who Is A Mother? by lunafish(f): 7:45pm On May 16, 2006
A mother is a woman who raises a child. Whether she gave birth to them or not.
If you're a woman who raised a child- you're a mother NOBODY can tell you different.

Thanks Pearldrops.

Where is the family love these days? Why is it choked by judgement and damnation?

Much love and respect to all people who come out to their families. Your bravery, sense of self and self acceptance are to be admired.

FamilyShould Wives Submit To Their Husbands? by lunafish(op): 6:27pm On May 15, 2006
I ask this question because I have witnessed some traditionalist and patriarchal statements being made on this website that both confuse and infuriate me.

The notion of wives submitting to their husbands comes from the bible though that does not make it RIGHT eg. The "Good" book also tells us to kill our family members and firends if they are not believers. We are living in modern times (if you're not, please emancipate yourself and get with the times) and therefore the idea of a woman appeasing her husband and following his every word is in short, absurd.

Considering the state of the world, we have seen the leadership of men result in atom bombs in Nagasaki, the failure of communism in China, this "holy" OIL war in Iraq and others. So why must a man be entrusted with the right to lead especially in his own home?

I don't believe in either spouse being subservient as slavery was abolished 200 years ago. Does a man have to have a submissive wife to feel like a man? If so then he can't be entrusted to lead anyone because if your power is dependent on the lack thereof for other-then you don't have any at all.

I say all this because I don't underatand what a man and his family hopes to gain from having a "yes" woman as a wife and or mother. I definitely don't see how this can benefit a woman either.

So should wives submit to their husbands?
Christianity EtcRe: Is it wrong for a couple to live together before marriage? by lunafish(f): 8:26am On May 14, 2006
No it's not wrong. it's a goody way to see how they live together and handle responsibilities. It can also highlinght the fault in the relationship before they get married. It's better to deal with your problems sooner rather than later.
Christianity EtcRe: Must A Good Christian Attend Church? by lunafish(op): 8:20am On May 14, 2006
TV01:
Is churchgoing necessary to be a good Christian?

No it is not.

However, your statement above does not necessarily identify you as a Christian.

God bless.
I am a theist (someone who believes in God)
I pray
I adopt a lot of Chrirstian values and characteristics into my life
I have a relationship with God

How can I not be identified as a Christian?
Or does your spiritual superiority complex make you feel that I'm not?

Peace and blessings to all.

What if the pastors engage in corrupt activity?
What if the congregation is full of hypocrites?
How can one tell God's people from the demonic wolves in sheeps clothing?

Christianity EtcRe: Must A Good Christian Attend Church? by lunafish(op): 11:05pm On May 12, 2006
Please don't turn this into a "usage of the N-word" post. That's irrelevant right now.
I think that what our friend was saying was; she went to church and hated the hypocrites and criminals that frequented in the Church. Therefore she hated going.

Or; if she was asking why all the bad sistas and n-s were in chirch, the answer is guilt and desperation.
