Politics › Re: Nigerian Senate Express Confidence In Jega, INEC; Okay Card Readers For Election by luvmijeje(f): 9:42pm On Feb 19, 2015 |
He explained the difference between actual voting and accreditation, saying electronic devices such as card reader was only unconstitutional in respect of actual voting, defined as casting of ballot and dropping it in the ballot box. Card reader unconstitutional? How come everything about this country is archaic and backward? |

shaqhead: #modified Yes and No No: It wl b absolute foolishness for any party to want to perpetrate that because as JEGA said result frm such polling unit wl be cancelled..i.e wen d voted cast exceeds the accredited votes.Who looses den?
Yes: In a case where d number that turned out for accreditatn is more than the number that later turned up to vote...some unscruplous party agents in cahoot wt inec staff myt attempt to make up for d deficit in voter number by "puting" no longer "stuffing" the ballot box but in my opinion such numbers wont b so much as to affect d whole credibility of d election. Thanks. For the 2nd scenario to happen, it will take everyone in that polling station to be compromise. |

jaybee3: Yes.. They had still be able to stuff extra 100 in If they verify/authenticate 400 and only 300 stayed behind to complete the voting process. This where party agents and vigilant Nigerians come in. |
Politics › Re: Atahiru Jega Addressed The Nigerian Senate On 18th February 2014 (Video) by luvmijeje(f): 4:29pm On Feb 18, 2015 |
shaqhead: We not e-voting per se but the card readers is used to checkmate d incidence inflating d acccredited voter number wc in turn leads to increase in d voter number! So if 50 people are accredited using d machine, wc cannot be tempered wt by d adhoc staff, therefore only 50 people or less will vote. Anything outside this, magomago dy oo Hmmmm, so there can still be cases of multiple voting? |

Arabambi1: he is answering question on whether voting & accreditation can take place at the same time. He said even though it is inconvenient for people, it helps in reducing multiple voting where people vote in one polling unit & leave for another. I quite agree I thought he said with the card reader multiple voting will not be possible. |

adebisicutie: See them behaving like unruly children, are these the so called senators chai
Jega is making a lot of sense. Each card reader will be configured to a polling unit meaning if u take a card to a polling unit that is not yours the card reader will reject it, that will prevent multiple voting If this is allow politicians from all divides are finish especially those representing my constituency. This will reconfirm that power belongs to the people. |

juman: All what you stated above are part of outcome of a destroyed part. Of course jonathan has his own blames. Jonathan has illiterate as a wife, a wife that he cannot control that also contributed to the party division.
You should remember that most of those left the party were those governors that were against jonathan second term, even as pdp members. Is Ameachi part of them? How many people among those that left contested for the post of President? The crisis could have been well managed by a leader with foresight. |

juman: It was obasanjo that laid the foundation of destruction of pdp.
PDP was started by serious minded nigerians that fought against military rule and were eager for democracy. Obasanjo hijacked the party from them derailed the party and destroyed nigerian more because he had little interest on developing the country. Jonathan came just managing to survive in a destroyed party . Is it under Obasanjo watch that 5 Governors decamped to another party? Is it under Obasanjo watch PDP was christianize? Is it under his watch PDP was tribalise? |

He added, “What I am saying is that all of us have parents. When we were born, they pepped us, gave us their love, gave us everything. By the time they get old, naturally, there is what they call role reversal. We became the parents and they became the children. So, what is wrong if our parents begin to manifest those signs of old age?” Is he indirectly saying Baba is senile? It took a prodigal president to destroy a party of 16 years. It's understandable why Obasanjo is hurt. |

Omoruyi in his book, ‘The tale of June 12,’ said "the Interim National Government idea was a contrivance, a child of necessity, no one had a blue-print on how it would be constituted and structured and how it could meet the various contending issues of the day. But the president initially bought the idea and turned it over to me to work on to achieve his three-pronged strategy of survival, exit and safety."
The ING turned out to be a fiasco paving way for the further perpetuation of military rule as the late General Sani Abacha sent it packing in a palace coup.
But this was under a military rule where anything goes and government is by military fiat.
The picture now is different, Nigeria operates a constitutional democracy currently and every thing that happens in the polity especially as per governance has to conform with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
And in that Constitution there is no provision for ING, so it is alien to the constitution. So ING by the nations constitution is illegal It was illegal then and it's still illegal for anyone to subvert the constitution for their selfish reason. Please tell your dear President that election must hold. |

A source close to former President Olusegun Obasanjo told SaharaReporters that the incumbent president’s machination to thwart elections was the provocation for a recent intensification of verbal warfare between Mr. Jonathan and ex-President Obasanjo. The latter has publicly accused Mr. Jonathan of plotting to stymie election now scheduled for March 28, the same way former President Laurent Gbagbo of Cote d’Ivoire caused a political crisis in his country after loosing an election, bringing his country close to a civil war. I know it's unusual for Obasanjo to be screaming at the top of his voice. |
