diadem10:I actually knew that someone was going to say this! But do you have where to push them to now? Except we are having our republic and they decide to join their kiths in the Niger delta, which I doubt, Apoi and Arogbo in Ese - Odo LGA remain Ondo State indigenes; though I know a lot of Arogbo that claim both Ondo and Balyesa indigenes. We all know that the land originally belonged to Ilajes and to some extent Ikales. However, in the past many moved from one place to another to settle without all these present problems which are due to ethnic consciousness brought about by politics. |
ebujany:I'm not even in the West now. All I know is that there are lots of very old coral beads in that place. |
ebujany:Go to Ekiti, lots of them there; particularly Isan-Ekiti (Fayemi's town). Just ask for original Akun iyun. |
nengibo:One love Bro. We all have equal footing in Ondo State and we're already rebuilding our trust in one another. We grew up listening to Iroyin and Egberi on OSRC then, attending the same Schools. It's even hard differentiating Apoi man from Ikale person; even Arogbo Ijaws now. The Same applies to Edo groups like Owans, etc We really need peace and unity in the South. |
nengibo:You're going too far! ' even Yorubas in Ondo State'. If all Yorubas in Ondo had intervened in Arogbo - Ilaje or Ijaws against Itshekiris crises the way all other Ijaws supported Arogbo and Gbaramatu, do you actually think you would have had chance against them? Stop dragging Yorubas to issue that doesn't concern them. Binis already said nothing connects them with Yoruba, so why bringing Yorubas to Gelegele matter? |
tobsvent:You are right! ''wished him dead'' ''wished death to'' |
PotatoSalad:I also graduated with 3.49; painful then, for I was plainly denied what I deserved, but now no regret whatsoever! |
Chukazu:I have been to virtually all the nooks and crannies of the East I have never come across major cocoa farmland except in Cross Rivers: and who tell you they don't grow this stuff there? |
integritylady:Then the Dean of Law faculty and management of EKSU have work to do, this is where 'connection' counts! |
FarahAideed:I can readily tell you that most people dealing in this are from your side. If you have the sand-loamy soil of the West that easily grows cocoa and marijuana in your region, you would have been the highest producer in the world. |
integritylady:It's more or less based on state quota system, connection and facilities. If you add ABUAD's 180 to the 60, Ekiti's institutions are permitted to present about 240 candidates to Law School every year. |
Bullhari007:I'm not promoting poverty, you need to visit Gbobi and other orthopedic hospitals. There were so much noise in Enugu, Awka, Owerri, PH, etc about the ban of Okada; people have since moved on and there is sanity in these places. |
Bullhari007:So Mr tribalism, when your state government and that of the entire the South East, South South, Kano, etc stopped Okada in their state capitals and they moved them to the West you were blind then? You will almost run gaga when the other states in the West join in disallowing bikes transportation in their state capitals. |
Bullhari007:So Mr tribalism, when your state government and that of the entire the South East, South South, Kano, etc barn Okada in their state capitals and they moved them to the West you were blind then? |
olureignforever:'I wonder o!' why are some members of Catholic Church so pained. |
Deicide:Yes, Yoruba will be as it combines words of Aramaic, ancient Egyptian and Atlantis. There are lot of Yoruba names/words in Spanish, e.g, Ola, Lola, Lara, etc; in Turkish/Russian, e.g Lolu, Akin, etc; in English, e.g me for 'mi', yawn for 'yan', etc. Most importantly, foreigners are learning the language. One of the languages of religion/culture in the Caribbeans and South America. The main indigenous language mix-up of Pidgin. The music language of Nigeria and beyond. If you're in the West of River Niger and you don't understand it, you are on your own. I will always doubt the paternity of Yoruba-born individual that can't speak the language! Just as every Yoruba man is born spiritual, the language is part of Yoruba spirituality and it can never die until the world is no more. Yoruba (Anago, Olukumi) slaves in the Americas never let go of their Yoruba language and culture! Again, in the S/West most people communicate in Yoruba language instead of Pidgin or English to carry out their daily activities. |
ProWalker:To her, Niger and Mali can follow river Niger to its Delta, do their import/export businesses without Nigerian authority. I wonder how these people reason! |
princessco:People's salaries are more important than this showoff! |
nnokwa042:Though Yoruba borrowed words from Arabic, Yoruba as well share many words with ancient Aramaic and Egyptian. The word for father is Baba or Aba(Abba) in Central Yoruba like Ekiti, Ijesa, etc. both Arabic and Hebrew languages developed from Aramaic. Baba and Aba(Abba) mean Father. |

ImaIma1:Every Yorubas' state, including Kwara and Okun part of Kogi, can lay claim to producing the highest set of twins. |
VickyRotex:It's no longer yam of a food, it's in the genes. You will probably have a set or two. |
murphyibiam15:Ekitis eat pounded yam more than 'amala' and they have the highest number of twins when it comes to state. There are also lots of twins among Igbominas, Ijesas; Yorubas generally. Yorubas love and worship them. Every household in my town gets sets of twins. We have four sets in my family. In those days we were invited from house to house for twins celebrations. |
LalasticSeun:In Yoruba culture/religion, only Eledumare is perfect. The gods like Ogun, Sango, Elegbara, etc were not perfect not to talk about deities. Every one has his own destiny, 'Ayanmo' and there are steps and people you will cross to get there. The Ooni is aware of his fate! It's in the hand of his Eleda who controls all other gods. There is nothing he or you can do about it! |
. |
fuke:Ido Ajinare, Erio and Okudi hills are great sites to behold also! I will always give it to Esa Caves and rocks but not developed by the state government. On expedition from New Iyin Road, Ado, you will always find Esa Rock beside you until you arrive Iyin. it's more captivating than Zuma rock. I so much love it in Efon, you don't even need AC or fan. I have also visited Ero and Egbe dams and Lakes, there are so many dams in that state. Ekiti has got a wonderful terrains but nothing is being done to promote tourism. |
giftq:hunhun, you made mistake; Igbo population is 91% of Lagos! You have started again. I thought chest-beating and tribalism have gone down on NL since 'Dilector' went underground. |
freshvine:The governor is doing all he could to make sure Federal government doesn't declare State of Emergency in Abia. If the SE people are wise, they will not be licking fire-stick with sugar Kanu and FG is offering them because Bornu will fair better than SE when the dust is settled. Beating chest when Buhari dismantles his own brother and shia religious leader is tantamount to being gullible. Buhari, Obasanjo and co believe in the indivisible Nigeria. Have you read or hard about how he destroyed Chadian soldiers that invaded Bornu, even chasing them to some miles from Chadian capital against president Shagari instruction? |
Eastside046:You are only chest-beating on nothing! And you can't do this without shouting Afonja. |
tollyboy5:The north is not even moved by SE noises ever since but just look at their restlessness since Yoruba summit. To northerners since Sultan Bello, only Yorubas exist in the south! |
step1:You dey mind Bini man who believes Yorubas should use one dialect and could not differentiate between Edo and Edoid. His fake belief is that small Igodomigodo or Bini produced and colonized everywhere - East, West, South and North. He forgot that all his culture and gods are from Yorubas and that Oromiyan's children Obas in Bini used the Yoruba Ilaje and Yoruboid Itshekiris to secure riverine areas up to Lagos in those days; worshipping Ilaje's Ayelala, Ekiti' Umole; Ogun, Olokun, etc. Binis and Yorubas have always been close until inferiority complex of their ruler in Western Traditional council caused this revisionist theory of lies. Though Yorubas were not happy when Biafra soldiers invaded Bini but could do nothing because of their boastfulness. However, immediately they ventured into Ore, they met their Waterloo. Let leave these Bini 'stories tellers', Biafra is coming for them again. I even doubt it if KingOvoramwen1 is from Edo? |
EdoNation:A very 'big lie' Ado or Ido means to settle or settlement! Yorubas even gave the name 'Ado' to Igodomigodo before Oranmiyan called it Bini. Ekitis are proud central Yorubas just like Ifes, Ijesas and Igbominas. Migrations from Ile-Ife took many of their people to Edo area and many traced their way back to Ondo and Ekiti States. If Nigeria should break today, one third of present Edo state will certainly join Yorubas while Bini and others can join Biafra or ND republic. We care not! |
