zurich1010:
Anambra is three 3x of Lagos including water, but when you consider 2/3 of Lagos being water, Enugu is 7x of Lagos. So keep that in mind when you talk about landmass. Anambra is nearly 2x of Lagos with water, however considering 2/3 of Lagos being water, Anambra is actually 3x of Lagos. Meaning if Lagos can house 30 million people today with only 20% of its meager/tiny landmass in use, it means that Anambra with his culture of building mostly high-rise buildings because they have sense than Lagos government, will house over 100million with only 5% of its landmass in use. Have I educated you today Afonja illiterate?
You will need to take your map lesson again. Anambra is just a little bit bigger than Lagos. Awka which is on Enugu boundary is 40 minutes drive to Niger bridge with Delta state.

I do travel within Eastern five state capitals between 7 to 9 hours. No private School can afford thousands of hectares in land in the East like in the West Or North; and this is understandable.

Yea you may be right to a large extent but you have not asked yourself how many of your people are benefitting from those companies in your place?

One thing is for a company to be built in your state, another thing is for your people to make maximum benefit of the privilege of having the company in your place. That’s the most important thing. I dont want to go beyond what i ve told you. Pls continue with your boasting.
Who the companies situated in Ibadan now benefit most?
The Yorubas, who constitute the majority of the employees and the state government, who gets lot of revenue and tax from these companies and their workers! Also don't forget, there many farmers (tobacco, etc) and others within Oyo state that supply these companies their raw materials.

We can add Kaduna and Enugu to complete the Nigerian cities list.

I always marvel when I read Igbos remark that Anambra has 3 cities of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi. So I begin to wonder what is a city and what is a town, and if the 20 local governments in Lagos are therefore 20 cities.
I have been to all the state capital townships in the East, if they are merged together and with Onitcha, Aba, Nnewi, etc, they are not up to Ibadan. You can drive through Onitsha within 7 minutes if there is no heavy traffic.
No single company in the East that can be compared with British/American Tobacco or even Yale foods in Ibadan.

It's foolhardy for someone to be comparing Onitsha or Aba township to Ibadan!

Cultures varies, Oba of Benin will not do such. If the Yoruba culture permits such visits then it is ok.
It's amazing and at the same time foolishly seeing some outsiders teaching Yorubas how their kings ought to behave. The Ooni is doing everything to develop Ife and Yorubaland in agriculture, sports, mining, tourism, manufacturing, financial institution, etc. He can visit anyone to achieve these.

Yorubaland is not Bini, Alaigbo or Sokoto. We have our own culture and every king has his own purpose and destiny. If you're so concerned, may be you should consult Ifa to see the 'Ikansesaye' of the king. Many Yoruba kings fought in wars alongside their warriors. Two of the great kings of my town were unfortunately captured in the wars against Ibadan and Bini. The town then never rested until they rescued them back from their captors.

Majority of Yoruba kings are not absolute rulers, they are totally respected but subject to check and balances from - Ogbonis, Oyomesi or Afobajes, Agbaakins, Olorioguns, men, women, youths, etc.

Yoruba culture is so dynamic; that's why you hear phrases like, 'asiko laiye'. That one or some kings are imprisoned by their culture does not mean every other king should be.

Do you see Yorubas begging in Nigeria ?
The most you will see Yorubas outside west is working in banks and they send their money home to build houses

You seem like a hater
Your people are not relevant in the scheme ot things of Nigeria

Not only a hater but a burukutu sadist who is so pained that he is held up in Jenta Adamu, Angwa Rukuba and Yan-trailer. These places are shit-holes with pig houses for his siblings, including Rickos, Gengere, etc where Hausas have taken over. In his own state capital they don't born him well to stroll in many streets and quarters. The poverty amongst the indigenes in Jos will shock everyone.

There are lot of good friends from plateau that I will like to ignore him instead of dragging them to the mud the way is doing to about fifty million Yorubas here in a matter that never concerned him. There are lot of tribes in plateau; and his may not even be up to 300 thousand in total.

Please let's ignore him, he is just derailing the thread. He is among the plateau men that wake and sleep in burukutu drink's shop, very lazy and always waiting for their women to farm and feed them. He ran away during the crises and left the women and those old Jarawas behind the Bauchi Ring road's mountains to fight for him and his likes - all mouth no action guys!

Nowenuse:
Please go and ask of any history of crisis in the north from those who live there! Here is your fellow yoruba who has lived in the north. This is why i keep on telling your likes to leave Oshogbo for once!

Yorubas do not stand to defend themselves in the north by fighting back like the Igbos do. I really don't know why. I understand that yorubas are respectful and peaceful people compared to Igbos and Hausas (especially on others people soil). But shiit, sometimes, one has gotta man up.
The problem i think with many yoruba muslims in the north is that they think because they are muslims then Hausa-fulanis will spare them, but they usually get the shock of their lives! Unlike Igbos that know that Hausas hate them, so they are always prepared for anything.

That was how some yoruba muslims went to hide in a mosque during Kaduna crisis, thinking they were safe, only for the Hausas to go drag them out of the mosques and butcher them. Likewise in Jos. Some of them (yoruba muslims) will start reciting islamic recitations thinking Hausas will spare them once Hausas find them, only for them to be called Munafuqi (hypocrites/ fake muslims) by the Hausas and still killed. ........Honestly i feel pity for these yoruba muslims during crisis in the north. But they are the fools here for allowing fake religious bond that doesn't exist enslave them!

You can imagine the Sultan of Sokoto is adressed as the spiritual leader of all muslims in Nigeria. A permanent position. What nonsense!
Why have the almost 20 million yoruba muslims never challenged this nosense title and dissociate themselves? On what basis was the Sultan of Sokoto made the permanent head of all yoruba muslims? Where was the election done? 9jakool, Markfemi2, AbakalikiPress and all yoruba muslims here, please i need an explanation from you guys!! Cos these are the reasons why other Nigerians see yorubas as cowards.

Just see what happened recently where Buhari sent Sallah message from London in Hausa language! This made it so obvious that the Hausas naturally don't even care if yoruba muslims who do not speak Hausa existed! And you will never hear yoruba muslims condemn or challenge hausas. What kind of 2nd class status can ve worse than this. Tufiakwa!

And that is what i am telling you! Most Plateau people in the South are educated and do not appear as Hausa-fulani muslims!
Our ladies and guys mostly dress like Southerners with jeans, gowns and western clothes always. We don't flaunt kaftans and hijabs like Hausa-fulanis. We don't do shoe making, mai ruwa, sell onions, carrots, mai shayi. We don't hawk. We rent houses among other residents. We do not live in seclusions and market/cattle communities like the Hausas do in the South! We worship in different normal churches with everyone else. So, we can not be easy targets for OPC members! Simple!
Why can't you just accept that you have no say in Okun's matter! Are you telling me you will come across River Niger to the south and fight if Okuns are to join their kiths and kins in the West?

Those Hills you see in Lokoja are known worldover as Yorubaland Hills. You are from a bakanized State like plateau, What Hausas can never attempted in the smallest state in the West, Ekiti, they are doing it in your state. The whole Nigeria is pitying your situation and you are here comparing yourself with Yorubas, making more enemies for your inconsequential tribe.

You can as well divert your energy towards joining your heroes in their Biafra as if they themselves have not been massacred in the north, even in Jos in the 50s, 60s.

I don't know your problem with Okuns wanting to join S/West?

The children of Okun need to make this call repetitive and loud. Bring up a media campaign on Social Media and be heard. One thread in 6months talking about the desire to carve a broad Yoruba Commonwealth encompassing from Lagos to Lokoja will not be enough. The campaign must be consistent and engaging.
This agitation started in the 50s but due to some of their selfish sons that gain from northern crumbs.

Can You imagine some old people in Kwara and Kogi don't even know they're Northerners; they think they are with their kith and kin in the S/West. Tell me what are Ekitis, Igbominas, Okuns Ibolos, and even Oyos in Ilorin doing in the north? Courtesy of the Sarakis, Awoniyi and etal.

Go and read up any book or encyclopedia on the full names of those who partook in the coups and stop constituting nuisance. Yorubas were part of the two coups.

In fact, Oyewole who was part of the first so-called "Igbo" coup was author of the book "The reluctant rebel." Go and read it. Oyewole chose to fight for Biafra for the entire three years duration of the Civil War.

How can you call yourself a Yoruba person, not know your history, and start making s*lly blanket untrue statements on a public forum. Who do you think you're talking to?

And that's why the insults are befitting for you. How can you call a man whose father is from Oyo, and who was born in Niger, completed his schooling in Kogi, a Kwaran, and you expect me not to insult you? If that's the case, you are a Northerner.

Your id**cy is annoying.

I have no reply for you after this, I have already given you the names of the revenge coup plotters, they are Northerners and I don't see reasons why they should have picked a Yoruba man as head of state after what you Igbo, southerners, did to their leaders. You are an ignorant illiterate and I would not indulge your f**lishness anymore.

Ibrahim Taiwo is a Yoruba man whose father is from Oyo state. He was part of the revenge coup, and like many of the other officers he was also one of the key players in the civil war that started one year later.

I know very well that your likes are born with abusive words and fed on insults, that's why you wake your parents with 'side kicks'!

What brought about this argument was your statement and lies that Yoruba officers with their Hausa colleagues carried out the revenge coup but I disagreed with that.
Weather you like it or not and no matter how you Igbos twisted it and quoted your fellow 'Beer-parlour' story writers from your region, every sensible Nigerian knows that the first coup was Igbo coup and the second one, Northern revenge coup; Yorubas were at the periphery of both.

The Bitter Truth About The Igbo, By Femi Fani-Kayode

''Now, let us look at a few historical facts and one or two more Igbo ”firsts’ that many may not be familiar with to buttress the point. The Igbo people were the FIRST to carry out a failed coup on the night of Jan 15th, 1966 under the leadership of Major Emmanuel Ifejuna, Major Chukuma Kaduna  Nzeogwu, Major Christian Anuforo, Capt. Ben Gbulie, Major Timothy Onwatuegwu, Major Donatus Okafor, Capt. Ude, Capt. Emmanuel Nwobosi, Captain Udeaja, Lt. Okafor, Lt. Okocha, Lt. Anyafulu, Lt. Okaka, Lt. EzedIgbo, Lt. Amunchenwa,  Lt. Nwokedi, 2nd Lt. J.C. Ojukwu, 2nd Lt. Ngwuluka, 2nd Lt. Ejiofor, 2nd Lt. Egbikor, 2nd Lt. Igweze, 2nd Lt. Onyefuru, 2nd Lt. Nwokocha, 2nd Lt. Azubuogu and 2nd Lt. Nweke in which they drew FIRST blood and openly slaughtered and butchered leading politicians and army officers from EVERY single zone in the country except their own.

I should also mention that even though this was clearly an Igbo coup there was one Yoruba officer who was amongst the ringleaders by the name of Major Adewale Ademoyega. It was a very bloody night indeed. Amongst those killed were the Prime Minister, Sir Tafawa Balewa, the Premier of the Western Region, Chief S.L. Akintola, the Premier of the Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Federal Minister of Finance, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, Brigadier Zakari Maimalari, Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun, Colonel  Ralph Shodeinde, Lt . Colonel  James Yakubu Pam, Lt. Colonel Abogo Largema and numerous others. They did not just kill these revered and respected leaders but in some cases they mocked, tortured and maimed them before doing so, took pictures of their dead and mutilated bodies and killed their wives and children as well. For weeks after these horrific acts were carried out, the Igbo people rejoiced and celebrated them in the streets and markets of the north, openly displaying pictures and posters of the Saurdana’s mutilated body with Nzeogwu’s boot on his neck, loudly playing a famous and deeply offensive anti-northern song in which northerners were compared to goats and listening to it on their radios, jubilating that they had brought an end to what they described as ”northern rule and Islamic domination” and openly boasting that they themselves would now ”rule Nigeria forever”. Though the first  coup failed the matter did not end there.

The very next day after the Jan.15th mutiny and butchery had failed and did not result in Ifejuana taking power in Lagos, the Igbo people set their ”plan B” in motion and they were the FIRST to carry out a successful coup in Nigeria just one day later on Jan. 17th 1966. This was when the Igbo Major-General J.T,U. Aguiyi-Ironsi (who was Supreme Commander of the Nigerian Army and who had inexplicably and suspiciously not been murdered by the young Igbo officers in their violent mutiny and killing spree the night before) in collusion with the Igbo Acting President Nwafor Orizu and the entire Igbo political leadership of that day, invited the remnants of Sir Tafawa Balewa’s cabinet to a closed door meeting, threatened their lives and took power from them at the point of a gun. Aguiyi-Ironsi did not just ask them to give him power but he took it from them by force by telling them that he could not guarantee their safety if they refused to do so. Meanwhile Orizu point blank refused to do his duty as Acting President and swear in Zana Bukar Dipcharimma as the Acting Prime Minster when the members of the cabinet and the British Ambassador (who was also at the meeting) implored him to do so since by that time there was a power vacuum because the Prime Minister, Sir Tafawa Balewa, had gone missing and had probably been murdered. It was in these very suspicious circumstances and as a consequence of this murky and deep-seated Igbo conspiracy that General Aguiyi-Ironsi came to power. Amongst those that were present at that famous ”meeting” that are still alive today are Alhaji Maitama Sule, Chief Richard Akinjide and President Shehu Shagari who were all Ministers in Balewa’s cabinet . Those that doubt the veracity of my account of this meeting would do well to ask any of them exactly what transpired during that encounter.

Yet the seeming success of the conspiracy was short-lived. Only six months later, on July 29th 1966, General Aguiyi-Ironsi and no less than 300 Igbo army officers reaped the consequences of their actions and plot when they were all slaughtered in just one night during the northern officers revenge coup which was led by Lt. Colonel Murtala Mohammed,  Major Abba Kyari, Captain Martins Adamu, Major T.Y. Danjuma, Major Musa Usman, Captain Joseph Garba, Captain Shittu Alao, Captain Baba Usman, Captain Gibson S.Jalo and Captain Shehu Musa Yar’adua  as they then were. Lt. Colonel Yakubu Gowon was put in power by this group...''

How you guys will be locked by security agencies up for defending yourselves against northern / fulani indigenes who attack you in your own ancestral land.
I believe the op is better off thinking about how his region will survive all these man made tsunami, in the potential residue of Nigeria.

I think, people like the op really want the Igbo to stay.I really wonder how he will survive been minority in potential hostile country. This write up has fear written all over it. The fear not of the Igbo, but of the unknown for Nigeria.
The middle belt is better off, most of them are religiously homogeneous. They can share some bilateral relationship with Biafra.
But if peradventure, the Yoruba decide to leave, it won't work, because there is no clear boundary to control religious controversy hence their case is worse off. Theirs will be the continuation of struggle for religious supremacy. And be sure , the north will not be neutral.
For the south south region, they have a choice to chose which is the lesser evil between Biafra civil friendship and North hostile dominance.
Land locked you said, I think in the bigger picture, it is the Igbos that will have the last laugh, because food can be manufactured, trade can be made, but cultural and religious conflicts are almost impossible to handle in Nigeria.
In the end, not choosing is also a choice.
Enough of all these Igbo talk, its meaningless talking about somebody as future, when you don't know about yours.
A very poor submission! The North will be wise enough to know that it's time for restructuring and true federalism. The exclusive list will surely be reduced to few things like diplomacy and defence with all regions having their fiscal policy, policing and ministries.
I don't know what you mean by Yoruba not having clear boundaries?

Why is 2000 CR-V or RAV4 called different names by Nigerian officials - Saloon, Jeep (SUV), Car-jeep, and Wagon; which is correct?

Kaduna declaration is to scare the Igbos out of the North leaving only Yorubas in the North as a hostage deal to force Osibanjo to give up power when the killings start.

Unfortunately, Yorubas online have not seen the big picture that is why they keep hailing the Kaduna declaration
Hausas can never never ordered Yorubas and ND people out of the North the way they ordered Igbos; their loss would be unimaginable with no access to sea and oil money.

Hati13, please you have to hear me out here. There is no such thing as "Yoruba Judaism." As for your question, you will hardly find a Yoruba person practicing Judaism. You would come across more Atheists than you will ever come accross Jews. Most of the so-called "Nigerian Jews" are from the Igbo ethnicity. In fact, many Yoruba don't take the Igbo jews seriously. Yorubas see it as claiming something. The Yoruba kingly lineage is from a legendary figure known as Oduduwa, not Judah or David or something like that. Also, Arnold Ford is not Yoruba, he's from the country of Barbados.

Yorubas do not claim Jewish ancestry. Any mentioning of Isreal or Judaism is not found in the literary corpus called Ifa.
Yorubas are African to the core!
Yorubas are not claiming to be Jews.
However, can you explain what Eternal knots (Solomon knots) design is doing on Aare Crown of Ooni, the 8-day-naming ceremony and circumcision, the twins' story of the last one becoming the Elder, and Yorubas' unexplainable resilience, tactics, priesthood and blessings in land, culture, wealth, etc?
