I don't want to get involved in this Iheanacho argument but I will say the bitter truth. Since iheancho left Man city, he has dropped badly. Even if you don't play, training week in week out with the likes of De bryune and co improves your game. Guardolia no drive am comot, Guardolia said and i quote " He wants to move for first team opportunities, if the move goes through or not, he is still part of the group". The iheancho we saw against Tanzania and Zambia, where is he? Iheancho's goal that was goal of the week on CNN where is he?

Oga mi, I think you guys totally 100% misunderstand my post. I wasn't tryna put anyone down or call anybody a mediocre. gosh, I don't even know the folks who have been nominated sef. I might check them out over the weekend but I haven't had time to check yet. Anyway, I was just making a generalized statement ... a general assumption, if you will, that we might end up with square pegs in round holes if we throw the nomination open, as an all comers affair.

If you come down to it, I am NOT asking to be nominated. And if nominated, I might not even have the time to be effective in the committee due to the pressure on my time right now. However, I was just pointing out the need to have the right people in that committee. Not to sound conceited or anything but some of us have played this game to a very decent level. Some of us have the right connections and contacts in high and low places, both at home and abroad (a la Tbaba1234 and Joebie). Some of us have followed this game and even coached this game long enough to understand the game (a la Icon4s etc.).

That's what's driving my recommendation. My intention was never to put anybody down or for a shameless self promotion. Having said that, I formally withdraw my name from the nomination, but let's give the other 5 candidates a very good consideration.

Those are just thoughts but I would implore y'all to give those thoughts a very good consideration if we want to achieve our aim of forming this committee. There's a saying in my village that na "ora adighi atu ero". Even in the Bible, when they were about to replace Judas Iscariot, they established some standards/qualifications for the ideal candidates. They didn't threw the whole thing open for all comers.

Bendel state used to be the state that produced the highest number of Sports men in Nigeria. Bendel state now Edo and Delta, used to take sport very seriously. They were always first at the National Sports festival. So many legendary players were from Bendel: Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh, JJ Okocha, Nduka Ugbade, Victor Ikpeba, Jonathan Akpoborie, Bright Omokaro, Sunday Oboigbe, Thompson Oliha, Wilson Oruma, Wilfred ''Avgbonabasket'', Austine Eguavoen. etc, you can even add more recent ones like Julius Aghahowa, Osaze Odemwingie, Yakubu Ayegbeni, Victor Moses.

In fact I recall in 1985 when Nigeria won the maiden U17 World Cup. There were popular shouts of ''Up Bendel''! ''Up Bendel''! in Bendel Dominated neigbourhoods as the team was dominated by Bendelites. Off my fingers i can recall names like: Lucky Agbons(forgotten the full spelling), Nduka Ugbade, Jonathan Akpoborie, Kingsley Akhionvbare(Not sure of spelling), Victor Igbinoba. These were the hit men of the team.
And Victor Igbinoba scoring that screamer to take the game to 2-0 was the iceing on the cake.

So I am not surprised, no be today.

E be like say na only strikers Edo State dey produce for us oo. I saw Orji Okonkwo "nwa Benin" (Benin Boy) against Roma, mehn that boy is a typical no.9 with his low Centre of gravity. He has a mesmerising footwork though his finishing aint quite there yet. One thing I like about him is his confidence to run at defenses, plus his nack to take risks though he needs to pipe it low a bit so that he doesn't look selfish. He is strong with a great positioning sense. Come next year, he and other Benin boys in Osimhen, success et al could be the ones leading the line with KC Iheanacho too.


After seeing his games, I said to myself, our striking problems aint gonna last because Dude was always sexy on the ball and his team plays some good football

I have followed this team right from their first qualifiers against Tanzania in Benin. I watched all their home games live in the stadium and clips of their away games. So I am not just judging from the WC proper. This team is very average compared to the past U20 teams. The only star among them is Rashidat Ajibade. The goal keeper too has done well having to replace the former first choice Onyinyechi.
But I would nt be surprised to see Ajibade as the first from the crop to get the Super Falcons invite.
