HealthRe: A Hospital Without Standby Doctors by macIB(m): 6:14pm On Jul 15, 2009
@ poster

Do you think what you have suggested is possible in Nigeria? Hospitals in the developed countries are adequately funded by their governments and their doctors are well paid. Infant, you have to know that doctors that work in the private sectors are much more paid than their colleagues in public sectors and their working environment is much more better also.
Also, you have to put into consideration that the Nigerian politicians and their close relatives DO NOT use Nigerian hospitals so NOBODY cares, unlike the financial sector where they put some of the money they "make" while in office. They will be quick to make the banking sector solid because their money and interest is within the sector and sectors like the health can go to hell since they can fly to SA, UK and Germany for treatment,

So poster, dont let us build castle in the air, let us just live by faith, hopefully something will work out fine soonest. "Amen"

PoliticsRe: Religious Violence Looms In Kano • As Non-muslims Petition Yar’adua Over Hisbah by macIB(m): 9:01am On Jun 30, 2009
Some of us have bagged somany bad names for insisting that Nigeria is not yet one country. Different laws for Kano and Anambra does not strike me as one country.  The Kano government have Hisba, why cant Anambra have Bakassi?

And, please when will the Yaradua led Fed. govt of Nig, order the military to bombard those militants from the air, land and sea?

It is time to negotiate Nigeria. Or we can continue to decieve ourselves.

I will agree with you on this statement,  see this quote:

"Since 1914 the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country, but the Nigerian people themselves are historically different in thier backgrounds, in their religious beliefs and customs and do not show themselves any signs of willingness to unite, Nigerian unity is only a british invention", TAFAWA BALEWA,1948

"Nigeria is not a nation. It is a mere geographical expression. There are no "Nigerians" in the same sense as there are "English", "Welsh", or "French". The word "Nigerian" is a merely a distinctive appellation to distingusih those who live within the boundaries of the Nigeri and those who do not" OBAFEMI AWOLOWO, 1948

Despite all these statements being true to a very large extent, we as a "generation" will find a solution to the NIGERIAN QUESTION sooner; but we have to wait till this generation of elders die biological (not revolutionary), because they are also contributory to the near failure of Nigeria nation. With these present leaders alive and kicking, these statements will forever be true and maybe collapse of the Nigeria nation which I do not personally agree with.

HealthRe: Why Doctors Go On Strike by macIB(m): 2:23am On Jun 24, 2009
It is a pity that the whole situation is like this, but before you start blaming the doctors, why not government who refuse to do what should be done, like a good/ understanding remuneration for the medical personnel? A doctor is first Human before he is a doctor and he has to take care of his needs as an office worker will do eg bankers, oil workers, lawyers, politicians, so why should he not be compensated accordingly, they all go to the same market you have to remember? In the developed/developing and some underdeveloped countries, a doctor is considerably compensated (see i SAID CONSIDERABLY COMPENSATED AND NOT WELL PAID) a Nigerian doctor is asking the same just a little bit of push to the salary and a lot of improvement on infrastructures and equipments to work with, the guy is not asking too much. But the Nigerian society feels a doctor's role is humanitarians and like teachers, his reward is in heaven. But you have to remember, you are putting your life in the hands of an hungery and angry fellow and when 2 elephant fights, the grasses bare the effect (your daughter). It is not the doctors that hates you/Nigerian populace or want more money in his pocket but you should blame the politicians who give no hoot if the populace is healthy and travel overseas for medical treatment even if it is a simple stress induced headache. The politicians and his children and wives do not use Nigerian healthcare provider, so why not face them and tell them how their contemporaries abroad compensate people in the healthcare instead of putting all the blames on the innocent doctor who just want to feed his family and provide for their needs.

"If you suffer your people to be ill-educated and their manners corrupted from infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded, but that you first make thieves and then punish them?"

This is how we are treated by Nigerian leaders, drop your own "Rants"
