Governor Rochas Okorocha said this when he hosted Muslims in Government House, Owerri,. Okorocha said: "My administration will not discriminate against non-indigenes but will rather ensure that everybody benefits from the policies and programmes of the state government." The governor, who promised to sponsor some Muslims on pilgrimage, said "as a detribalised Nigerian, I will always engage in actions that will promote unity and peaceful co-existence." Earlier, Chairman of Imo State Muslim Council, Alhaji Yusuf Nwoha, had assured the governor of the loyalty and support of all Muslims in the state, and appealed to the government to establish a Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in the state. It may be correct to state that Imo has had the curse of poor leadership since the return of democratic rule in 1999. Achike Udenwa was unceremoniously rigged into office in 1999 at the expense of Engineer Ezekiel Izuogu who would have made a phenomenal governor. Ezekiel Izuogu was loved by the people of Imo state, but was wrongly perceived by the then political leaders as arrogant and dogmatic, thus would not play ball in delivering to the interests of political godfathers. His election was therefore scuttled in Mbano, which ushered Achike Udenwa into office as governor. However, it is pertinent to note that those who perpetrated this fraud against the will of the people have come to regret their ill-advised action. Udenwa's eight year tenure while abysmal also lacked. , . . read the rest here http://www.imostateforum.com/index.html/index.php?topic=179.0 |
This news from Germany is really disturbing. Why is it that our leaders make us laughing objects before the international community and they will turn around to accuse us the poor and voiceless masses? This accusation from “The Voice Baden Württemberg” in Germany that most Nigerian refugees are deported without proper identification or procedure is a severe one especially the indictment that the Nigerian Embassy officials have been taking €500 to facilitate the deportation of a Nigerian refugee. According to “The Voice Baden Württemberg” for the lucrative deportation business to flourish the Nigerian officials can identify their victims in their wisdom with special reference to their facial marks or looks that could be attributed to Nigerians. Furthermore, the embassy’s machine making money (the refugees) could as well be identified based on their languages or accents according to this known source. When did language speaking or facial marks etc. become a standard yardstick of knowing where one comes from? If the same Nigerians go to the embassy for help as Nigerians without proper identity like passport, driver’s license or birth certificate etc. will the embassy recognize them as Nigerians? If the answer is no, why then. . . . read the rest here http://www.imostateforum.com/index.html/index.php?topic=157.0 |

The impasse generated by the controversial dissolution of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers under the Chairmanship of Eze Cletus Ilomuanya is far from being over as both Ohanaeze Ndigbo and leadership of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have demanded his reinstatement. While Uwazurike demanded for Ilomuanya’s reinstatement, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural and political umbrella of Ndigbo, criticised the dissolution of the council, nothing that such an action does not portray Ndigbo in good light. Governor Rochas Okorocha, had in his maiden broadcast on June 6, this year, announced the dissolution of the state Council of Traditional Rulers, among several other dissolutions taken by his administration. Speaking at the palace of the Chairman of South-east Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya at Obinugwu, Orlu Local Government Area of the state, during this year’s New Yam Celebration of Obinugwu people, the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, described the action of Governor Rochas Okorocha as unlawful and unacceptable to MASSOB. According to him, “any Igbo man abusing our traditional rulers in any guise is a bastard. Zik, a foremost nationalist and Nigeria's first President, had declared in an interview with journalists in his later years, that he was not in a hurry to leave this earth. Asked how he was looking forward to death, the Great Zik, as he was fondly called by his admirers, replied that this earth was all he knew and that he would like to enjoy it much longer. He eventually died at the ripe age of 91. In a somewhat similar manner, Ojukwu, whose rumoured death shook the nation midweek, has told close friends and relatives that death is not on his mind for now as he still has an unfinished business. . . . http://www.imostateforum.com/index.html/index.php?topic=168.0 www.imostateforum.com |

sources close to Governor Rochas Okorocha in Abuja indicate that the Imo State governor may be finding things uneasy in his early days in office in Owerrri government house. As gathered, the Governor is bothered by a tribunal case that has the gubernatorial candidate of the LPP party as the complanant. The case brought foward by the LPP gubernatorial candidate in the recent completed gubernatorial elections had accused the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] of excluding his name and the name of his party from the voter\'s sheets. His petition to the tribunal cited that the law and guidelines stipulated by the INEC stated that should any party\'s name be ommitted in the voter\'s sheets - its serves as ground to cancel the results of the said elections. This realization for the governor of Imo State has had the Governor perturbed over how to reach out to the LPP guber candidate. As learnt, Gov. Rochas Okorocha had managed to settle the other opponents out of heading to the tribunal but has failed to successfully reach out to the LPP candidate. read the rest in www.imostateforum.com http://www.imostateforum.com/index.html/index.php |
Apostle Babatunde Joel Oyidi – the seer who warned MKO Abiola not to vie for presidency, and predicted former President Umaru Yar’Adua’s death Asix days after swearing-in, has said that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will be killed in office by his aide-de-camp (ADC) if urgent measures are not taken now to forestall it. Apostle Oyidi said that some of the President’s men are Boko Haram plants who may later arrange the bombing of the Presidential Villa thus causing the death of not only President Jonathan but also hundreds of innocent citizens. In a signed statement titled, ‘My vision to the nation’, which he made available to Saturday Champion, the cleric said that certain powerful politicians who failed in the last general elections have fiercely employed themselves in recruiting revolutionary forces to destablise the federation, adding that because of this landestine moves by people in high places the Judgment Day will certainly come upon some members of the political class before the end of this year. His words: “My revelation to this nation is about the gross insecurity in the land today. God says my people are afraid; they no longer can move freely in their own land, their voices are not heard even in matters that concern them. But the cries of my people have reached my dwelling place. “The Lord God Almighty has revealed that President Jonathan has surrounded himself with enemies in form of friends. He must, therefore be careful of his aides. Once more the President must check and cross-check all those who hang around him because there is a leakage within the ranks. “There is going to be an attempt to kill the President and if he is not careful and very close to God now he will be killed by those who work for him”. Prophet Oyidi said that the attacks by Boko Haram Islamic group are orchestrated by politicians who think it is their unalienable right to occupy certain positions of authority in the land. “Boko Haram is within the government itself; it is orchestrated by the politicians who think they must occupy certain positions of authority in the land by all means. When they failed to get what they wanted they have now resorted to heating up the system. Of course, there is no smoke without fire. It is a shame that all these man-made disasters can be happening to people in this country. It is, therefore, a woeful shame on government”, he said. Oyidi who is the General-Overseer of Elyon International All Christian Praying Ministry said that President Jonathan is not the political messiah of this country but only a forerunner to the president who would salvage the nation by initiating workable policies and programmes to the glory of God. The cleric, however, advised President Jonathan to stand firm and focus and not be afraid, adding that he should not allow the so-called god-fathers of the present system to sway him. He also urged Dr. Jonathan to always abide by the injunctions of God Most High in whatever he does while ruling country, noting that whatever the President does now, he would be held accountable for it. He said, “It is written that whatever a man sows that he will surely reap. Though, President Jonathan is a product of the corrupt system that produced him, yet God wants to use him to fulfill his purpose for this nation. His job in this country is only to prepare the way for the right president. http://newafricanpress.com/2011/07/24/shocker-some-president-aides-are-members-of-boko-haram-prophet/ |

Owerri — Last weekend raid of Owerri residence of Chairman South East Council of traditional rulers Eze Cletus Ilomuanya by Governor Rochas Okorocha's task force on recovery of government properties has continued to generate controversies in Owerri even as government defends the action. The taskforce men led by Mr. Placid Ekwueme reportedly invaded Ilomuanya's residence with about thirty policemen and forcefully towed three of his vehicles to government house Owerri. a statement signed by the royal father's Chief Press secretary Kennedy Eweama stated that on gaining entrance to the Eze's premises, the task force men surrendered at gun point Ilomuanya's security men threatening to shoot anyone who obstruct them from carrying out their " pre-determined mission" According to the statement, everybody was held down at gun point, a situation that could have degenerated if Eze Ilomuanya's aides had resisted they forceful towing of three vehicles from the premises by the assailants. Eweama further disclosed that it took the intervention of the Inspector General of police Mr. Hafiz Ringim who on being alerted of the development promptly directed the arrest of all policemen who perpetrated the act noting that but for the intervention of the Inspector General of Police perhaps there could have been loss of lives or at least severe casualties. He said that while the royal father will use every legitimate means to address the provocative assault on his person, the calculated assault and invasion under cheap blackmail will not be tolerated again. Meanwhile, the All Nigerian People's Party ANPP Imo state chapter has strongly condemned the development describing it as humiliation and embarrassment on the person of the royal father. State chairman of the party Chief Dr. Vitalis Ajumbe in a statement in Owerri also strongly condemned what the party called use of force by a democratic government without regard to the law insisting that Ilomuanya did not commit any offence that could warrant such humiliation meted to him. "By the way, what did Ilomuanya do that he will be so humiliated and embarrassed by the government? olumide, get me right, I NEVER SAID THE 70 % ACTIVITIES ARE BY IGBO, i was refering to why there are so many people in Lagos. If there is a port in Lokoja, do u not think dangote might consider relocating ? if the port in warri is open to civialian cargos do you not think onitcha trader would prefer to use it, since it is a mere 3 hours away compare to lagos which is like 8 hours ? note Onitcha market is still the biggest market in Africa. |
