FOLYKAZE: Maybe you need to read that verse again. It said he that call his neighbour 'fool'. Your twisting cant help......you are hell property.

Where do you keep the doctrine of original sin? For all have sinned....your cherry picking is really alarming. Typical christian example.

I came to make you aware how you play ignorantly.....hell ministration.

You love God but dont obey is word. Trashing old testament means disobeying......your like full hell

What is this you are saying? Freechance to hell.....you fail
I can see u are a deranged human being. it is nt for u to decide who goes to heaven or hell. u nothing close a billion light years from God

6. Jesus was telling us not to let anger take over us, and not be abusive. It doesn't mean if a man be a fool u cannot tell him to his face as a way to correct him.

7. That's old testament. I don't follow OT anymore

8. What u are doing right now with this thread is judging others and I also classify it as blaspheming

9. Off course u have to love God, just like u love your papa @home

10. Not behave like a chill literally but be with little seen as children are

Sal C: You are getting it wrong. The NT is the fulfilment of OT prophecies, therefore there's nothing wrong with the OT being part of the bible.

The problem arises when preacher decide to cherry-pick the teachings of the OT just to suit themselves.

There's no cherry-pick if u trust the OT as ur holy book follow everything u see in it. If u trust the NT follow everything in it. But I tell u if u drift frm one rule in any of them u have sinned. Know that some rules in both are contradicting, so which do u rather follow? Think my fellow, the OT is the word of God but not a Christianic word of God but a Jewish one.

You playing another silly game by ignoring one verse for another that suit you. Since you ignoring one, is it not part of the bible anymore?

The new commandment by Jesus was loving God and loving God is obeying his laws and orders

Jesus kept those mosaic law.....do you? I wonder what you have been feed with in your church.

It is precisely what am being feed in church that am kicking against.
people should be aware that Jesus is the way and the light, only through him can one get to the father. So why refer to Moses abi Moses na ur patron? All of u who call urselves Christians but dwell in the teaches of judaism (another religion which Jesus has tried to reform and make new so u can obtain salvation) are fools. am not abusing u but stating the truth. Pastors tell you pay your tithe and offering and u people run out feeling obligated to do so, any pastor who askes u to pay tithes and offering quoting Malachi 3:8 for u is a fraud and doesn't serve Jesus wholeheartedly because according to the teachings of Paul tithes and offerings are not obligatory in fact not needed of a Christian. tithes were payed to the priests from the tribe of Levi, now tell me are ur pastors from the tribe of Levi? if u wanna follow ur OT then u should be making animal burnt sacrifice too if not you would go to hell. According to the old testament no work should be done on the sabbath day but don't u cook on the day u suppose to go to church? Hell is waiting for u
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Tithe For Christians? by macof(m): 3:13pm On Sep 06, 2013
This thread just supports my post on "the old testament is not part of christianity" and thank God some people share my view. I thought every so called Christian has been brainwashed. Tithes is of the OT and Christians shouldn't follow, am sure those people who added OT to the Christian Bible weren't even Christians, they must have been Roman pagans who thought everything religious from Israel is all the same. And so called men of God these days are happy to see "pay your tithes and offerings" in the Bible. why did they not request for animal burnt sacrifice? Abi dat one is evil? Since some African religions do dat and they say it's evil. Jesus teaching alone I follow and not Moses or Malachi when am nt a Jew

yorubaamerican: I think I'll go with ethnic group. But I've yet to find two people who say the same thing. By the way, where is your evidence for use of the word "tribe" before Lugard and Viscount?
well obviously the word "tribe" wasn't used by yorubas, but the period before colonialism and also during colonialism Ekiti and the rest were referred to as tribes by the Europeans. I've heard people several times say "there are over 200 ethnic groups in Nigeria and majorly 3 tribes" but honestly going by what I read it's over 200 tribes and majorly 3 ethnic groups

FOLYKAZE: Why do you ignore point 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Are those not directly from Jesus? Maybe you dont read the OP before commenting.

Oh yeah....you cant run from the old testament....

1 John 2:7
King James Version.

Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

Hell stockpiling......welcome because you fail some of those law too
Lmao...did u bother to continue reading ur Bible after that verse? 1 John 2:8 again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. Pls the OT is not for Christians

Am sure ur friend has his own point of view but that's mine. Before British colonialism in yorubaland. Egba, Ekiti, Ijebu etc. were referred to as tribes, the Yoruba as a whole race. more so all Yoruba trace their origin to ile-ife meaning they were one community/tribe before expanding. So what word do u call a group of people who have a common culture and origin?
Culture › Re: Who Is Yoruba / How Do You Know You Are Yoruba by macof(m): 9:47am On Sep 06, 2013
You are Yoruba if

1. You are born of a Yoruba father, whose hometown is within yorubaland. Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, ondo, Ekiti, kwara, ketu, sabe, popo and some part of kogi
2. Live in yorubaland, speak the language, love and practice Yoruba culture
3. Practice Yoruba religion

following this 3 points there should be over 100million yorubas worldwide

Culture › Re: Who Are These Yorubas? by macof(m): 10:30pm On Sep 05, 2013
Originally Yoruba didn't come from anywhere. God created the first humans in ile-ife. Migration started from ile-ife. Most people won't believe ifa they prefer to believe the texts of the Torah, however I have some proof. Genesis 4:14-17 clearly interprets that Adam and Eve were not the only people on earth at any point. I don't have time to write it here but pls check yourself if u have a Bible. Cain wanted to die in the hands of another person as punishment after his banishment, how could that be when he and his parents(Adam and Eve) were suppose to be the only humans on earth. Cain settled in a land east of Eden married and had a son(Enoch), Enoch married and had more generations springing up. How come Cain saw a wife outside Eden? How did the wife come to earth when she was not Adam and Eve's daughter?. Yoruba religion and traditionally stories is the only one I know that provides a story of an existing land where mankind was created

Some people have attacked the story of Oduduwa coming from heaven and being a son of God saying it's ridiculously impossible but I say it's possible. Genesis 6:4. there were giants on earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and bare for them children, the same became mighty men which were renown.

What the sultan of sokoto wrote in his book is bullshit, his people are Arab inclined but Yoruba is unique owning the first lands with red sand, Adam means red sand, the item Obatala used to mold men was red sand, red sand is everywhere in ile-ife, red sand is used to make all Yoruba sculptures.

Present Yoruba has had people from different parts of the world come and live peacefully over the centuries and even become yorubas. In lagos and Ibadan just to mention a few, many migrants have stopped there and nationalised. My family history states that we originated from Nupe and were accepted in peacefully knowing that yorubaland, ile-ife mostly is the true home of all.
Culture › Re: Origin Of Ifa by macof(m): 7:30pm On Sep 05, 2013
Ifa was brought to earth by a deity from heaven called Orunmila, he is one of the few heavenly beings that witness the creation of a man's destiny and thereby knows the future of everyone and what is best for that person. He taught man how to use the odu to communicate with him. He is the Yoruba god of prophesy, wisdom and divination, his priests are called Babalawo and Iyanifa, however he is not the only god in Yoruba. At this point I should refer to them as Orisa. Olodumare is the heavenly father and creator of heaven, he is sometimes called Olorun meaning owner of heaven, he created the Orisas and ordered Obatala(always seen as the first orisa) to create the earth but it was Oduduwa that completed the mission, the land he created was called Ile-Ife meaning home of expansion. Olodumare promised to make Oduduwa king of that land(this was reviled to the people of ife so when they saw Oduduwa on earth they knew him and made him their first king). Olodumare ordered Obatala to mold men with clay and after the molding Olodumare sent the breath of life and the clay came alive. Obatala has drinking problems responsible for his mistakes when molding people born deformed. Orunmila and Esu are the only ones present when a man's ori chooses a destiny and path to follow, it is Esu that checks whether that person is still walking in his path and tests his faithfulness(Esu is not the Christian devil as commonly referred to by some yorubas and he is not evil) then Olodumare gives his ase to that life. Olodumare is not worshipped directly and has no shrine unlike the Orisas eg. Obatala, Sango, Ogun etc.t some orisa are believed to be humans deified after death while some believe they existed as orisa before their time on earth but wanted to live human lives. Sango, 3rd king of Oyo on earth was the greatgrandson of Oduduwa, his father was Oranmiyan and his mother was a Nupe woman from tapa(this however doesn't make Nupe a Yoruba tribe or even Hausa tribe) Oranmiyan defeated them in war and the rivalry between the two tribes continued for centuries. Oduduwa as well as Oranmiyan didn't die but went into the ground and disappeared, Sango also showed unearthly characters and even at death his dead body was taken to the ground by a spirit.
When Oduduwa(some say his son Okanbi) was King at Ife, chiefs from an eastern kingdom came to ife requesting for help about their vacant throne. Oranmiyan was summoned and asked to be king of that land, Oranmiyan who had an aggressive and commanding character however found it difficult to control the land due to the difference in culture he got angry and left the land naming it ile-ibinu meaning home of anger, he had a son there called Eweka and ordered for the throne to be prepared for him cause he realised only a person born of that land could be king, he also left half his army which he brought from ife. Eweka became king and changed the name of the kingdom to bini and the set a new royal dynasty of kings with the title of Oba of Bini and kept honouring the land of his father Ile-Ife, he was buried in ile-ife as did many obas after him.
Culture › Re: Is Tribe Different From Ethnicity by macof(m): 5:20pm On Sep 05, 2013
Tribe is a group of socially, politically and ethnically similar people. Ethnicity refers to a group of people that have common racial, religious and cultural origins. Going by this definition in Nigeria, for example- Yoruba is an ethnic group not really a tribe. Tribe best describes Ekiti, Ijesha, Awori, Egba etc

This is a very important thread here. firstly parents should often communicate in Yoruba with their children from little ages thereby making them conversant with the language as they grow.
Tell epic stories from time past about some Yoruba heroes.
Take them to your hometown regularly, let them even know their origin.
Tell them stories about their grandparents and great grandparents. And many more

Yoruba culture, tradition, language and religion is too valuable to just let go, failure to have knowledge about it is very bad

Christianity Etc › Re: The Old Testament Is Not Part Of Christianity by macof(op): 10:35pm On Sep 04, 2013
My view is that as Jesus was a Jew he couldn't erase the law from his life and from the people, he couldn't have even tried to abolish the law of Moses made for the people of Israel both as a cultural and religious way in accordance to the will of God. The Tanakh was a holy book and Jesus respected it's content as such but he did try to make reforms which were greatly rejected by many Jews, he often opposed the law making it clear that he didn't totally agree with it. The laws are basically for true Jews to follow so that's why I feel non-Jewish Christians don't have to follow it

Zarian5: OP, Do you believe the OT is also the word of your God, who is ‘one’ with Jesus Christ? Or is the God of OT different with that of NT?
All religions preach righteousness in accordance to the word of God and it's the same God in OT and NT obviously, but isn't it the same God in all religions?. Names are linguistic and not religious so as long as a religion acknowledges one supreme being as the creator and father of all regardless of the difference in name eg. Jehovah/Yahweh in Hebrew which Christians and Jews use, Allah in Arabic which Muslims use, Brahma in Hindu for Hinduism and Buddhism, Shangdi in Chinese for Chinese religion and also Chinese Christians, Olodumare/Olorun in Yoruba for Santeria, Candomblé, Yoruba religion, Christian and Muslim Yoruba and many other names given to the creator in different languages. This doesn't mean it's a different God, talk less of saying the God in OT and NT are different.

FOLYKAZE: I cant say precisely if this guy is making some jokes or he is serious.

Op...if Old testament doesn't apply to you....remove it, change your religion title from christianity to paulianity and scrap all Jesus teaching cuz your doctrines is basically founded on Paul teachings.

After then, we can talk
Why sound offensive? and besides your comment is senseless...am a Christian because I trust in Jesus and not Moses, Ezekiel or other prophets of the OT, So wats dat about paulianity? Paul was a follower of christ(Christian) though converted from Judaism. He wrote and influenced many books of the NT following the teachings of Christ as did all the apostles of the NT but they never referred to the Tanakh because they left that behind knowing that it is of another religion but still retained some Jewish traditions. my question is- why was the holy book of another religion compiled and put as part of christianity? Just because Jesus and majority of the apostles that ran the first churches were Jewish doesn't make judaism part of christianity as it seems to be the case today
Christianity Etc › Re: The Old Testament Is Not Part Of Christianity by macof(op): 5:04pm On Sep 03, 2013

Christianity Etc › The Old Testament Is Not Part Of Christianity by macof(op): 3:53pm On Sep 03, 2013
The Old Testament is not part of Christianity- this is something a lot of Christians should have realized but haven’t. “Christianity” basically translates to “followership of Christ” and means that Christians should follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, but why are the teachings of prophets like Moses, Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah etc. Taken as part of the Christian faith?.
The Text of The Old Testament is entirely part of the Religion called “Judaism” the books of the old testaments were originally and still is the Hebrew Bible(Tanakh) which is the Holy book of the followers of the Jewish religion “Judaism”. My point is those who compiled the bible and put the books of Tanakh as part of the Christian Bible made a mistake and so many Christians today follow up on that mistake by living by the teachings of the Tanakh as part of their religion.
Jesus was indeed a Jew by birth as he was born of a Jewish/Hebrew woman but he was not a practicing Jew, in the sense that a true Jew is born of Jewish parents and also follows the Jewish religion(Judaism), Jesus went to the Jewish synagogue a few times as a child and learnt all the books of the Tanakh but when he started his ministry he began trying to make reforms which angered the Pharisees and Sadducees(forms of Judaism). Jesus hardly made reference to the teachings of the Old testament during his Minstry, He did things which some said was against the Jewish Law(an integral part of Judaism). Why do u think the Pharisees and Sadducees were against Jesus? Because he was running down their religion. Christianity might have been created by Jews(The Apostles were Jewsish) but Christianity is not Jewish and Christians especially those who are not of Jewish blood and ethnicity should not associate Christianity with Judaism as they are different religions. Why do Christians practice Jewish traditions and Law(Halakha?.
Jews both ethnically and religiously follow the Law of Moses written in the five books he wrote(Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) known in Judaism as Torah , but what concerns an African/Asian/European Christian with the Law of Moses? What concerns an African/Asian/European with the Jewish Myth of the Creation of the world when he has his own Myth? What concerns an African/European and others of the world with the sojourns of the Israelites? .
The Old Testament as a whole not even only the Torah is not part of Christianity and shouldn’t be part of the worlds Christian Bible

Note: This is my own opinion, you dont have to believe it.

Christianity and Islam are full of deceit and are too brainwashing. A lot of Africans reject the spiritual system of their fathers claiming it's evil, does it mean that ur fore fathers were evil doers who would go to hell and rot for their haram?. Muslims are dictators and oppressors who force people to their religion, I remember reading an article about how Egypt became an Arab nation: Egypt was a nation of only Christians till the Arab invasion, death penalty and increased tax which caused so many Egyptian Christians to convert. Now tell me is that how religion is suppose to be? forcing people to believe what u believe is wrong. In the world today Muslim nations have the most violent nature and you claim "religion of peace" is that not hypocrisy?. in the Arab world and also many African muslims don't get their women equal rights, marriage is often arranged without the consent of the girl. in Nigeria as hot as the whether is Muslim women wear their tight vale causing heat resulting into all kinds of skin conditions. Christian pastors are so full of corruption and run churches like business establishments, preaching salvation and righteousness is not what they do anymore but casting demons and healing which most of them are payed to act. We all know that even Jesus didn't cast out demons on a weekly basis like all these pastors who own mansions, private jets, numerous cars and claim to be followers of Christ who lived a humble life without need for a donkey except once throughout his life. Pay your tithe and offering is what they scream for in churches, donate money for this and that is what they request for, establishing schools with enormous tuition/school fees is what they do, selling holy water, books written by head pastor and many more just to acquire money from their already poverty stroke members. The catholics were the ones that first labelled African religions "idol worship" when u see them practising what they condemn: wearing and praying with rosaries with a craven image, bowing and before a craven image in the church and more are forms of the english interpretation of idolatry. A 4th world war might occur and its going to be a war of religions until we accept our indigenous religions and stop.foreign interference. The way most Africans see their traditional religions is embarrassing to Africa has a continent. I wish I knew a babalawo in person who can teach me more about ifa and the orisa worship.
