You say it as if all of them protecting the church are muslims, some muslims are protecting the church while some others are trying to destroy it, even destroyed so many already.
And there was a time all of Egypt was christianity

babyosisi: What I have read so far sounds to me like a fetish godless city full of idol worship and juju
A land teaming with evil spirits and backwardness
It is this holding unto idolatry that causes ritual killings and sacrifices for these gods when there is a better way
The land needs to turn to Jehovah to have those covenants broken and the people set free in the mighty name of Jesus
The king of kings and Lord of Lords
You are a big fool for calling the Yoruba religion idol worship and referring to Ile-Ife as an evil land. Take ur Jehovah to Israel, we denounce that name in Yorubaland

Orisa refers to Yoruba gods/deities or what is better placed as angels of God tho worshipped in traditional Yoruba religion called aborisa, the Yoruba name for supreme God is Olodumare or Olorun who is the creator of everything and Baba Awon Orisa(father of all orisa).
Esu is not the devil, he is an orisa that is very important to Yoruba people, people just call him devil for greedy and selfish desire to downgrade Yoruba and uplift foreign religion but now so many Yoruba who don't know the religion use his name badly. Ase means command and life energy tho used to empower prayer. Ifa is not mere casting of lots it is a way to interact with the god of wisdom and prophecy(orunmila)

Findingmyroots: Some of the Yorubas are igbos. Such as the Egba people from Abeokuta and the Akure people.

I once heard that YORUBA is actually a Hausa word

And that the origin of Yoruba actually come from Kwara state.

Like one said in an earlier post. It's time for tribes to start discovering their connections. It will only bring us closer.
Yes the name Yoruba was given by Hausa/fulani because there was a time the two race were in war and that was when Ibadan and Oyo stood together due to this team up the fulani called the Oyo and Ibadan Yoruba and it soon became a name for all others like akure, Ekiti, owu, ijebu, ijesa, awori etc.
And wat is this you are saying about some yorubas being igbo? Pls don't be stupid, all Yoruba towns trace their origin from ile-ife and Oyo(due to the high population of refugees during the war against Hausa/fulani). Yoruba did not come from kwara state, major parts of kwara came from Oyo, well the rest are ancient Nupe. You really don't know anything about Yoruba
Culture › Re: 20 Interesting Facts About The Alaafin Of Oyo by macof(m): 3:27pm On Aug 04, 2013
JW214: Note: Oyo is the only town I have seen in yoruba land where they respect their ruler (Alafin). Here is my experience:

In 2001, I was in Oyo town, precisely the "Akesan market", just in front of the dead Fire station close to the palace. I was dealing with a market woman, some minutes after, the traditional trumpet "Kakaki" was blown, I think to announce to the public Alafin was leaving the Palace, some seconds after was a long convoy of badh cars and SUVs, my next obeservation was seeing the woman I was buying things from, dropping what she held, went on her kneels, face down, shouting "Kabiyesi oo", even when Kabiyesi won't see her doing so.

That was my 1st time in Oyo, it was so strange to me, someone told me that was the old tradition and some still observe it till 2001, am not sure of post 2001

I have lived and visited many Yoruba town, including Ife, I haven't seen such respect being given to their King.....
He's the Alaafin, highest traditional position in Yoruba so what do you expect? But the truth is every true Yoruba would bow and greet his king, though now everything is spoiling causing of the Western influence but mostly cause of the federal government seems to shift them aside in matters of the nation which is not suppose to be so.
Culture › Re: If Black Caribbeans And African Americans Wish To Return To Africa? by macof(m): 9:03pm On Jul 27, 2013
dasparrow: Only Africans can truly fix Africa and not African descendants from the diaspora. One way to fix our many problems is to allow we Africans decide which ethnic groups we will want to share a country with. The so-called former colonial heifers I mean masters decided to lump together various African ethnic groups who have little or nothing in common with each other culturally and linguistically.

How does the world expect us all to live together happily ever after in such a forced/arranged union? Did the british, french, Portuguese, et al consult with the African people before packing us all together like sardines in a can? Do you think Europe as a continent would be what she is today if someone (an outsider, a non-European) had lumped the German, french, English, Portuguese, Spaniards, Polish, Swedish and all the others together without consulting them first and making them share a country together?

Listen Jayvarley, go to Youtube and search for the documentary: REAL STORY OF NIGERIA by Jide Olarenwaju and educate yourself on how Nigeria became what she is today. What happened to Nigeria is similar to what happened to other black African countries as well. Until we Africans draw our own borders and create our own nations based on cultural and linguistic similarities, we will sadly continue to have problems.
I understand what u mean you are very right. Nigeria's biggest problem is it's large amount of ethnic groups that the British brought together without considering us the natives. we should be honest Nigeria cannot have true peace or development without us drawing our boarders and making new nations of it based on the ethnical similarities.
