The school feeding programme is a brilliant idea if well implemented. Giving food to people is NEVER a bad thing. These are the points the principal made as to why he is against it; 1. "He said the feeding programme was a failure because the cost didn't match the quality of food".. This is a valid concern. Not enough to just write off the programme, but rather a call to implement a standardised quality control measure for the programme. Vet caterers, assess their hygiene, food handling, preservation, preparation, e.t.c.. 2. He called it a failure and tagged it a scheme to enrich some few friends of the administration.. Truth is whoever gets this contract will make money. It's business. If the caterers are qualified, can deliver, meet all the requirements for the job, are fairly priced and passed through a fair bidding procurement process, then congrats to them. A contract review for all vendors involved in the program can easily resolve this. Not enough to end the programme. 3. Another reason he gave for considering it a failure was Principals are not even involved in the implementation and therefore we don’t even have a say... I dont think the Principals should have a say in the program. The Principals should only manage Logistics within their schools and not have a say in the meal program apart from reporting observations and reccomendations. 4. He then advised “The government should have a rethink and take serious inventory of the exercise and stop wasting national resources. From a project management perspective, this is a sound advise. The government should audit the program and see how well it has gone, analyse the challenges faced so far and improve on it 5. He then ended by saying "There are better programmes that will improve the life of the poor.” Now here is were I feel he lost the plot. The school feeding program was not about necessarily just improving the life of the poor as much as it was a program to feed school children, serve as an incentive and motivation for kids to come to school and make sure that no kid in school was hungry (which is quite a lot of kids). laurel03: I love this project.. Nothing half asses about it. Solves a huge problem as well as consolidating the states transport system. Frees up that road which has been overrun by busses and pedestrians. Takes away jobs from touts and provides security to commuters and passengers alike.. And finally, it's a proper 21st century looking project that gives the area a facelift. 2 Likes |

Yoighaman: cult /kʌlt/ noun 1. a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object. Cultism is Bad.. I Agree if contextualized. Churches are actually cults. But I can bet you don't consider them to be bad do you? Pyrates (Seadogs) are more of a Fraternity (Brotherhood) than they are a cult. During the period I considered joining them, I did my homework on them, researched their history and from hanging around them studied their behaviours and all and I didn't see anything that disturbed me as such (especially in relation to Violence). I gathered that they (Pyrates) disbanded all Campus "Decks" after they got caught up in some violent activities and you can't become a member until after you have graduated and they find you to be of upstanding character (via referral from a member). So as of today (and since a long time ago), no Univerisity has a Pyrates Fraternity or Student member in them. Now the reason I changed my mind on joining them was purely the matter of hierarchy. I will explain. A senior Seadog can drill (punish) a junior. I just felt I was too old for such stuff so I opted to be just an associate. I hang out with them (since a lot of my friends and business partners are members) but that's as far as I go.. If there are any diabolical sides to them, I have neither observed it, seen it or heard of it. So I will simply advise people to research before they castigate a group. I know Seadogs and I speak from a place of first hand knowledge as far as an outsider can know. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
