Career › Re: Why Is Engineering So Difficult To Practice In Nigeria by Madeu(m): 9:04pm On Mar 02, 2022
Practising Engineering is really expensive worldwide and it is difficult, especially for low-income countries like Nigeria. When you compare how easy for a young lawyer, primary healthcare physician, pharmacist, Lab scientist and Physio to start their practice immediately after school you'd understand.

In one of my posts, I was blasting rich and wealthy Nigerian children for majoring in liberal art and lesser courses. This is actually the reason. It is easier for wealthy Nigerian children who want to practise to get fund.
Buhari's daughter studied photography even Otedola's own read history of art and the rest of the elite children majored in useless degrees. Imagine they all read mechanical, civil or chemical, software engineering, don't you think we will have numerous and prosperous engineering firms in Nigeria?

Other states in the south might also pass laws that will ban processed cow meat that they can't guarantee their health condition from entering their states. This will make southerners to massively invest in the cow business.
Not possible. Have brewing drinks made in Lagos been banned in other part of Nigeria. Or cement in obajalan and ewekoro.

When will he tax kunu and brukutu?
Govt would tax where there is huge revenue. Kunu and brukutu products are not money-spinning. Aside that, it's done in a low production way.

What is the crime of the woman whose picture and details are put up?
Have you been accused before for a crime of someone just because you are associated with the person? If yes, how did it feel? If no, then just reason am first...
The child is a minor. Therefore, the parent are the caregivers and legal guardian. One can't rule out the parent involvement in this kind of case. Investigation should be made if the parents are aware of any deviant behaviour. If known and didn't report, they bear the consequences.

Ekpekus:
I get your point... however by law if anyone commit a crime, he/she does the time...
So, from what you have written, is there any substantial evidence to prove this woman's involvement? BTW, we don't even know if this person has been rightly identified before bloggers put up her pictures and place of work.
Again, minors can do their time for crime in juvenile centers
I had one in our midst. The parent was aware of his deviant behaviour. The boy was expelled from FG school at SS3. Parent transfer the child to a state school to start SS1. The boy became a bad influence.

The family should mourn their son in peace. All these interviews they have been granting to different press crews will jeopardize the investigations.

If the cousin hadn’t called the alleged killers out, probably they would still be in the country.
See wetin this wan dey yarn. Like you don't live In Nigeria and understand our justice system. This case is now in the public domain. With more media attention, the judge and police won't be sentiment. How it's been handled will determine the level of trust the public have with the criminal justice system.

I disagree. Amazon was far down that list a few years ago but look where it is now. The top used to be dominated by petroleum companies but look at it now. The number of petroleum companies will continue to decrease.

If so many people keep in Africa, India, China, and the US keep studying stem careers in large numbers, all of those people will be competing for the same jobs against each other and those with experience who have been working in the field. That contributes to mass unemployment.

The Law of Supply and Demand
The current and future is STEM courses and career in that field keeps evolving creating opportunities for people in the industry. From the industrial revolution to our current reality. It's Very easy for STEM professionals to adapt to the reality at any given point in time.

The Law of supply and Demand doesn't come into play.
We are going into space exploration, can you imagine how bright the opportunities abound for STEM professionals?

I agree with those who said they follow their passion. Who wants to work for years doing something that they don’t love?

Another reason is they pay attention to trends and what is going on in the world now compared to what will be going on in the world in a few years. So many people are preparing for STEM careers that the fields will soon be saturated, making it more competitive and hard to find a job.

Someone said Petro Engineering. Outside of Nigeria, countries are rapidly making plans because of global warming. Petroleum causes pollution so developed countries and car manufacturers are switching to alternative forms of energy. Outside of Nigeria, the demand for petroleum engineers willl start to tank and eventually become obsolete. Things popular today will decrease in popularity.

These parents and kids have experienced life in other countries and see that it is about balance and they are preparing a life for these kids outside of Nigeria.
Petroleum companies still top the list of fortune 500 for many years. Engineering is broad and wide. It's easier for pet eng to switch to alternative energy industry, in form of training or pursue Post graduate studies.

The op knows what he's saying. Look at fortune 500 companies in the world, tell me where photography, music, catering and hotel management fall into. Those are courses you don't need to attend a university. An associate or a diploma is enough.

All stems courses. In a country like Nigeria, we need to refine our crude oil, design and build the car we ride, power our home, road and industries, and control our Internet.

Averages earners means : entry level position which is 55000AUD yearly, 4583AUD monthly before tax. With payment of tax, take home will be less than that.
