Hail the Haymaker !!He's made boxing fun again. Even the ladies are watching now . |
Was 8.50pm last night the moment that The X Factor stopped being a talent show? In what was possibly the show's biggest upset ever, Simon Cowell decided against saving Lucie Jones and forced the vote to dead lock. This saw the decision revert to the earlier public vote in which John and Edward had received more support than their rival, keeping the controversial duo in the show. Lucie's exit followed a flawless version of Whitney Houston's One Moment In Time in the sing-off, while John and Edward performed a cover of Robbie Williams' Rock DJ which sounded like something you'd hear at closing time at the local karaoke bar. In fairness to the boys, it was their best vocal performance to date - though that's not saying much. Simon Cowell defended his decision by saying that he felt neither act could go on to win the show but that John and Edward was the act he would most like to see again. He also said that the public should have picked up the phone and voted for Lucie if they wanted her to stay in the show. Arguably The X Factor has always been more about the entertainment factor rather than being a true search for the next music superstar. However, we can't forget that this is the same show that discovered Leona Lewis as well as the likes of last year's winner Alexandra Burke. John and Edward are the most talked about act on this year's show and the live shows would be much duller without them in it. But do they really deserve to stay in the show at the expense of talented vocalists? Also, Simon's decision to take the vote to dead lock over the past couple of weeks has seen two of the show's most talented singers - Rachel and Lucie - leave the competition. Their departure comes while all three of his acts remain safe - is he using these tactics to help his own acts win? Do you think last night's decision has damaged The X Factor's remaining credibility? Is Simon Cowell right that the public are to blame for Lucie's exit because they failed to vote for her? Are you glad John and Edward will be performing again next week or maybe you will be boycotting the show? Source: yahooTV |
OMG, what a question - I'll go to the library, of course. There's just something peaceful about a real, well-stocked library. You could find anything in there!! I mean, I love the feel and look of actual books. It's hard to explain but I'd pick the library over the internet any day. To show you how bad it was, when I was in Uni I stayed so long in the library that day that I got locked in when it closed!! No one knew I was still around because I went deep into one of the sections just to get the best spot. I was soo scared, but I managed to get to a window and called for help. The school security came to let me out, thank God!! |
@madlady Thanks, and you have a phobia-free week too!!! ![]() |
Lol @ madlady I think we're all beginning to mix allergy and fear to the actual phobia which is very strong in itself. I hate roaches, they make me react convulsively on sight. I have a friend like that so I know it's common. And as for your "gap" issues, I'm sure it's mild and will pass once you're comfortable on trains. Out there though there are people with real phobias as listed by jay bee and therapist. They even need medical help to handle these phobias. I don't think there's anything out there that makes me need medical attention to handle, thanks very much . |
Gosh, I loved the match! I was at a party but everyone was watching on the big screen. "David and Goliath!" was the theme - and we all wanted Davey to win, of course. I even shed a tear when the referee lifted his arm and named him the winner. This was no pity win (due to size disparity); Hayes deserved it. If you knew his origins, you'd cry for him too. He grew up in a flat in Stockwell; he went to school with a friend's daughter - and always liked to fight! Valuev got tired out with all Hayes' weaving around and then of course V was always punching down, not forward like it should be if they were the same size. Anyway, monumental match, even the V people would appreciate that Hayes worked for it. The British chap get mouth but he delivered in the end. |
mohawkchic, lol . He knows naw . |
@chic2pimp Gra Gra---------Lagbaja na who dey find who ?? |
Never Far Away. . . Lagbaja . |
The association should shaarrap. Can't someone lose her temper again?? If it was a male tennis player I'll understand the threat. That umpire was actually very annoying to say the least. |
Sobolation-----Lagbaja. Nice video. |
WokarGwa, sorry but you can't rewrite it to suit you !! But you can try!!!Ok, I'll find the Mark Twain book and read it soon as you've suggested . |
George D, forget. The taste is in the eating, not all this one y'all are saying. The thing is, I chop my veggies big in everything. My tomatoes and pepper must be huge inside my fried eggs. As for the large-chopped okro in soups, try it and see how it tastes so natural, fresh and crunchy. Lol. |
@ Pezz and bluespice Only asking because it's very good. I was reading from the time you started. I posted a comment but the OP didn't reply so I thought he/she didn't want any side talk . Anyway. Pezz you must know you're very gifted. I guess you read a lot of science fiction. It's a fantastic story, hope you finish it. |
nairalandphobia------fear of nairaland?? Or at least the yabis and insults on nairaland. Lol. @jaybee That's a lot of phobias!!! I've heard of fear of knees, but fear of chins?? Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words-----Dayym! Someone has a fear of long words and u actually name the phobia with a long word!! These people shaa. @therapist where are you self?? You have to finish what you started!!? |
AAH!! @ pureminded, your case is not a phobia but an anti-social condition . I thought you meant travelling long distances!! I used to stay at school during the hols and only went home once or twice a year when I was in Uni, just to avoid the trips!! But to not leave the house at all at all . Bye bye ! |
@ madlady ROTFLMAOooohhh. . . !! In fact, nothing but an Olympic-style flying leap will do!! Both unto the train and off!! My sista, I don't form when it comes to that o! People look at me funny but I'm too relieved that I made it over that dreaded gap. In fact, you just made me aware of a phobia I didn't even know I had!! This train-gap thing sef, I'm sure therapist can find a name for it .@ pureminded. . . . this might be hard to believe, but I totally feel you about the travelling!! I can stay put in one location for ages because I just dread getting on the road - or in this case, the air. Hmmn, looks like we all have some fears in common!! ![]() |
![]() @madlady, yes ooo, me self, I always extra-stretch my leg not to miss the solid ground, lol. I'm beginning to totally feel your point of view!! |
^^^What, the okro itself or the cutting it extra large ?? See you, I have a Ghanian couple as friends and they cook their okra whole, no dicing, grating or chopping. Think you could handle that? |
@madlady, woooww!! Then that's a new one they probably haven't named yet. But it's a realistic fear, esp when there's even a warning all the time to "Mind the gap". I'm afraid of trains too but for a very different reason - too ridiculous to mention. Take heart, dear, I'm sure you're not alone .@pureminded Que?? Never heard of fear of some insects? I'm flipping serious about the cockroaches phobia. Just thinking about one, gets me heaving. Abeg dress make the therapist do his thing . |
OMG, @cantell, these are the best jokes ever!! I bawled over the onions&christmas tree joke. My second fave was the lucky gay son who had all those presents(jet, millions, lot and house!!!) Gosh, the other dads must have died!!! Great, there's got to be more!!?! |
^^^Lol, is that for real or you're just making that up?? @ OP, I should have known there would be a phobia for parents-in-law .But fear of clocks, handwriting, even of thinking?? Some of these people need some whupping .Mine is fear of cockroaches. I get dizzy just at the sight of one. And if I even manage to kill one . . . . it gets me puking every time. Now that's a serious phobia to complain about.Fear of Number 13 ko, fear of Alphabeth W ni. |
She is not. Geez. The thought!! The fairness seems enhanced yes, because it's just soo glowing. Ebony beauty in Uni?? Without concrete proof then it's just a myth. Trust me, if she'd ever "bleached" or is bleaching, one of them relentless gossip mags would have carried it before now. |
Ah ahn, George D, since when has cooking been all about necessity? Okro and ogbono is usually a matter of taste and preference. I like it for a change sometimes. I cut the okro extra large and don't let them overcook in the ogbono so they have a slight "crunch". |
I have got to ask: did you really write this?? |
See this one. You think they're like you . The only thing you use ur "money" for is to bet. You this gambler. Take ya time . |
I say you be ITK . See this chic2pimp telling me how many Nigerians I know. Am I not a Nigerian? In effect even if I know only 5 Nigerians personally, through them I automatically know 5x25 (25 being the average number of their family/close friends.) Do the math. Mr. I Too Know. Lol . |
chic2chimp, ITK!!! . Well you both are sooo wrong because every Nigerian I know, especially mothers were clamouring and calling eachother to vote for Rachel. Unfortunately, after she managed to get past the bottom 2 that last week, they relaxed their efforts thinking the storm was over . |
WokarGwa, how come you know Nell died?? . Well, it was saddening but after reading the book the first time, I got over it. I haven't heard of the "$30,000 Bequest" by Mark Twain, but I'll check it out soon as I can . |
The ones I'm particularly looking forward to---- ![]() JedWard---- Singing "Ghostbusters!?!. How fitting . Last week they were likened to being perfect Halloween monsters. So, who you gonna call?? ![]() Olly---He can surely "Twist and Shout" already, so this is going to be extra fun!! Jamie----"Unchained Melody". . .Gosh, he's so "fearless" (says Simon ) and that's what I'd like to see him be tonight with that song!!Danyl-----He's definitely an obvious favourite of Simon - he got the most well-known song! He's going to rock it, unfortunately .Lloyd---- Used to be my fave, but after they picked him over Rachel (shrug) He needs to floor this song to get back into my good books! Joe Elderry---"Nice" song, is "Circle of Life". Maybe too nice. "Kiss From A Rose", from the Batman movie, would have brought out his funk more. Stacey-----"Son of A Preacher Man": Aah, Rachel would have killed this song . Lol.Enough analysing. . . let the show begin---! ![]() |
She's following a trend, I guess. Get the fame, then write a book. Everybody does it. Some before the fame, though. Those are the true talents, lol. |
Nice. So who's lying now, Dare, Isabel or Tim about the "who got there first"?? Lol, great teaser though. I hope there's more. |
