state of emergency? |
if EFCC cannot prosecute an individual without approval from the AGN, pray what then is its (EFCC) function? Why not just leave everything to the AGN's affice? I though the whole idea of having a body like EFCC was to prevent undue govt interference during the prosecution of corrupt public officlas, may of whom may have close ties with the gove. So what happens when the AGF himself is found wanting? BTW I recall that amendment was made during the Aondoakaa' reign. That was not the way EFCC was |
eezeebone:too bewildering for words |
Its a diffult situation, no doubt. My guess is govt may actually be negotiating with the kidnappers behind the scenes, but they(govt) want to avoid undue publicity which may encourage other would-be kidnappers. Nonetheless, I join them in praying for their safe release. . ![]() |
where exactly in Abuja is the headquarters located? |
Today's edition of Nigeria Tribune. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/23615-tinubus-trial-tribunal-members-nominated-to-be-inaugurated-next-week
TRIIIIIIBUNEEEEEEEEE! Omatseye's reply: My writing last week generated much hoopla, and my intent was misunderstood by some who looked at it from the viewpoint of insulting the matriarch, Chief H.I.D. Awolowo. I was misunderstood for insulting mama as a woman, grandmother and family leader.http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/columnist/monday/sam-omatseye/9173-on-the-awolowos.html |
footreja:I beg to disagree Sir! As an ardent reader of The Nation, I'm yet to see the kind sustained onslaught against the Awolowos, in the manner Tribune has been going after Tinubu. BTW what do you mean by 'sensitive news stories'? While I agree The Nation has never hidden its disdain for the ruling party, it has maintained an admirable level of professionalism in its reportage. The same can definitely not be said for the Tribune |
Loveaflame:You should be flattered. . . ![]() |
Its been a long time since stopped reading the Tribune. Those guys no dey try. Credit must be given to The Nation, which has maintained a commendable level of professionalism, refusing to drawn into the drama. |
Good points but the conveyer - Sam Omatseye and his paymaster - Tinubu are hypocritical. They just won't impress me! Let ACN's ____oh sorry, the Nation's Omatseye write Hon. Abike Dabiri, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Senator Mamora et al to return the excess over the RMAFC approved emoluments paid to them to the cofers of the National Assembly first. Then I will start recognizing his genuineness when he writes about National ills. In the wake of the Sanusi Lamido versus the National Assembly tussle, I rcall the righteous Mamora asking "How did our salaries even become public knowledge?". I can't recall any ACN member in the last National Assembly protesting the obnoxious salaries.
I'm not sure I get your point. If you read the article properly, you will see that he is referring to all legislators, and not just the non-ACN members. |
the one in EDo State has just been released, now this. God help us |
where did you get this from? |
ola olabiy:HABA why I no go like you? You be my one and only padi padi naa. ![]() Moreover, Omatseye still remains my favorite columnist, but I don't think that even he, his formidable journalistic pedigree notwithstanding, is above the occasional grammatical mishaps. You yourself said it all ola olabiy:My aim is not to disparage him in any form; but simply to learn, and I must confess I had trouble discovering (with the exception of two) the error(s) in each of the cases above. This informed my decision to bring them to a thread dedicated to learning. These are the ones I could discover: Family should have taken a singular verb, 'was', since it's being thought of as a unit in this context. and the last one, 'John The baptist', a person, is being compared to a place, 'Lagos'. Mixed metaphors, I believe its called. what do you think? |
Andre Uweh:KAI! the babe try sha. I believe she's with NASA now, abi? |
