The govt is under-rating these people. In my area, UGM have taken over. They patrol the streets armed to the teeth in broad daylight intimidating people, even killing sometimes. At times, they patrol in vehicles, at times, on bikes. Sometimes, they cover their faces with masks.
They control all the rural areas while govt sit in centre of towns/cities claiming tough.

It's time to run away from Igbo land, if you have the resources.

When will Imo state shut down telecom services in some LGAs in the state? People are systematically being murdered daily in cold blood in those areas. Most of these killings don't make news headlines.

The state govt should stop celebrating that they "restored" order in the state. Meanwhile, Ndi Imo are being murdered without any justifiable reason. If these victims had run away to Benin Republic or Niger Republic, they will call them refugees, but they will be alive. Their conviction that they will never die in the hands of fellow Igbos has become their own undoing.

Murderers in the North run back to their forests and come out when they want to commit another crime. If the account by the police is anything to go with, then Gullak killers are very stupid. How can you kill such a high profile person and still stay in the same neighbourhood?

Neither flogging students nor sending them away for delayed payments is cool. The children shouldn't be flogged because it's not their fault. Also, sending them away from school at odd hour could expose them to danger.

This alternative is safer and may even be more effective. Inform all students and parents that all debtors won't be allowed in school from a certain week of the term, for instance, third week. Beginning from that week, turn debtors back at the gate. Don't allow them into the school. That is, if they still defy the instructions and come.

For those that have been commenting that no teacher should flog their children, please send them to American schools. In Nigeria, some students only respect canes and not teachers, not even their parents. Pray your child is not one of such children. If you ever have one of such children, you will be the one buying bundles of cane for his/her teachers. That is if you truly want them to make a headway in life.

Another Thing, govt should stop the attitude of rushing to close schools. Covid19 did not start in a school, but at a Wuhan market as we heard. They should close boarders, airports and markets. French schools are still open not minding their lockdown due to second wave. That is example of a country that values education.
