Education / Re: Covid 19: Reopening Schools Is Playing With Fire by MalaikaEH(f): 6:04pm On Jan 15, 2021 |
The dangerous effects of any kind of lockdown in Nigeria is far higher than the risk of contracting COVID19. OP, you Just mentioned lockdown in England without mentioning how much their government pays each citizen to keep them locked down. Have you ever thought about how your childrent's teachers managed to survive the last lockdown? Infact, the moderators should delete this post and ban the OP the way Facebook delete Trump's own. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Health / Re: Second Wave: Travels, School Reopening Caused COVID-19 Surge – PTF by MalaikaEH(f): 7:33am On Jan 12, 2021 |
Second wave was caused by 1. Political campaign rallies without physical distancing. 2. FG's lack of guts to ban travellers from countries with high COVID19 infections. They should leave schools and religious bodies out of their problems and confusions. 1 Like |
Health / Conditions Necessary For Any Further Lockdowns In Nigeria by MalaikaEH(f): 5:22am On Jan 02, 2021 |
Conducive conditions for lockdown anywhere in the world, especially as some Nigerian states are mulling lockdown again. Experience has thought us the following. 1. Pay stimulus package of N100k monthly to all citizens. US parliament just approved 600 dollars for each citizen, yet they have not locked down completely. 2. Device means of delivering essential items to people's door steps. That is how China did it. If you allow people to go to market because of food, then the purpose of the lockdown will be defeated. 3. Security men to enforce the lockdown should be well trained to avoid unnecessary killing of people who still go out to look for food. 4. Government should not hoard any food palliative. This is Nigeria. Hunger is real. 5. Leave schools out of it. Nigeria does not have facilities for long distance learning. Schools should be locked down on case by case bases. That is, schools where students test positive should be locked down, or the ones that obviously flout the covid19 safety protocols. France and Israel are doing it like this right now. Parents are allowed to take their children to school and return back home. 6. As we go forward, NCDC should release data of which sector or people that make up the high numbers released daily. For instance, how many of them are students, bankers, lawyers, teachers, medical personal, travellers, wedding/burial or other event attendees, etc. It will help us to know who the main culprits are. Lockdowns can also be done sector by sector. Most European nations do it like that. I have taken the time to write this because some states are thinking of lockdown again. Please don't lockdown if you can't put the above in place. 2020 was tough because of the long lockdowns, not necessarily because of COVID19. 1 Like |

Education / Re: Don Davis' Medical Report Silent On Sexual Abuse At Deeper Life High School by MalaikaEH(f): 11:00pm On Jan 01, 2021 |
The hospital has sealed the case. Even if they go to another hospital and they get a new report containing exactly what they want, it will be an uphill task proving which doctor's report is more factual. I advise the abused boy's Family to find a good counsellor for him and quietly put him in another school. They have made their point and its loud and clear. Taking the case further is an exercise that will hit a brick wall. My opinion though. 1 Like |

So many people don't even know what love is. All I know is that you have to feel a certain level of attraction to the person and make sure you can be able to manage the person's shortcomings. Nobody is perfect, including those claiming love. But wait o, OP, who are you expecting to come and marry all the girls you are using to play chess? 3 Likes |

Science/Technology / Re: Why Do Countries Have Different Time Zones? by MalaikaEH(f): 1:13am On Dec 27, 2020 |
Okay, OP, let me teach you in primary school tone and voice. My instructional material is a flashlight (touch) and a spherical globe containing map of the world. For easier understanding, take the materials to a dark room where the only source of light is the touch light. Now, the touch represents the sun and should be kept on a chair at one corner of the room. The sun is the only source of light in the whole universe. The moon and stars merely reflect rays of light from the sun. The sun does not move at all. It is stationary and shines constantly without stopping. So, in this dark room, keep the touch light shining at one place towards the globe without offing it. Back to the globe, make it stand constantly on the south pole with Australia near it, while the North Pole is constantly upside with Siberia, Alaska and Northern Russia close to it. Now, set the globe in such a way that the light is shining directly on the map of Nigeria on the globe. In real world, that happens around 12pm in Nigeria. Other countries on the same line (latitude) with Nigeria, such as Italy, Libya, Tunisia, Niger, Germany, etc have their 12pm at the same time. So, it is said that they are on the same time zone. At this same time, countries and areas directly behind Nigeria on the other side of the globe will have their 12am (i.e. Mid night) because the light from the touch (sun) can not reach them. The earth rotates anti-clockwise on its axis (meaning that it turns round and round slowly on the South Pole side). So, we turn our globe so that the touch light now shines directly on the map of Ghana, Mali, UK, Spain, etc . In reality, it takes the earth complete 1 hour to make this turn. So, the time zone around the world would have changed by 1 hour. Time in Nigeria becomes 1pm when Ghana has 12pm, At this same time, Senegal would be having 11am. The earth and time continue to move until Nigeria will reach behind the light, which is night. At 12am (mid night) in Nigeria, some countries facing the sun will have their mid day. It takes 24 hours for the earth to rotate completely on its axis. That is what we call one day. Also, the earth revolves around the sun. That means it continues moving, apart From rotating, until it has gone round the sun. This takes 365 and one quarter days to complete. That is one year. I hope you all understand today's lesson. 82 Likes 10 Shares |

Foreign Affairs / Re: US Election 2020: Protests Rock New York, Portland And Other Cities by MalaikaEH(f): 7:55pm On Nov 05, 2020 |
Where are those saying Nigeria should learn from US? Is this what Nigerians should learn? We all know where "peaceful" protests end up in Nigeria. Nonetheless, we have read and learnt from US that people who block the highway while protesting are promptly arrested, so that other people can go about their businesses. |

Politics / Re: EndSARS Protest: We Feel Abandoned – Police Officers by MalaikaEH(f): 5:49pm On Oct 25, 2020 |
I really empathize with the rank and file of the police. There was a problem of crowd gathering in most cities. A problem that could easily go out of hand and out of control. All our president, vice president, governors, senate, rep members and even the Inspector general of police could say was warn the rank and file of the police not to disrupt the "peaceful protests". It's demoralising. If I were a police man, I will feel dejected too. Well, we have all seen the end result. Nobody should get my message wrongly. I have also suffered in the hands of overzealous SARS in the past. But we can't throw the baby away with the bath water. The good ones among them are very useful. I can't forget a particular night armed robbers besieged our street. It was the police that saved us that night. They are important in the society. Despite all the protests in USA, President Trump never criticized any police officer, even till today and they don't mind giving their lives for him. That is a good example of how a leader should behave towards his foot soldiers during the time of crises. After the crises, you catch the erring ones and discipline them. Giving them a blanket warning at that time will only demoralize them. 2 Likes |

Peaceful protesters gave impetus to angry mob who loot arms at a police station. What we will actually see next are ARMED angry mobs, who will kill without anyone condemning their actions. Afterall, all of them have turned to "peaceful protesters". We will get to a point where we will agree that we need committed security men, though we protest against their excesses now. 114 Likes 13 Shares |

There is another angle to the matter. A professor is a professor in a particular area of study: not in all fields. For instance, if a professor of Physics sets questions for a professor of Philosophy, the Professor of Philosophy is likely to fail woefully. The same thing will happen when the Professor of Philosophy sets questions for that of Physics. 142 Likes 7 Shares |

The "trusted" is in parentheses because I still don't really trust anyone. So, still ask God to take control. May her soul manage to find rest. 1 Like |

The "Trumpet" will still win again. Easy to predict. My Nigerian experience thought me that he who can divide the people along ethnic lines without any apology will go ahead and win a second term. Like the "97% versus 5%" dichotomy. Just go ahead and maintain your stand, show it in all your appointments including supreme court judges, even the chief judge of the supreme court. Trumpet has little to fear. Only 17% of American population are blacks. Even that 17% will be polarized. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Why I Will Dump DSTV And Move To TSTV by MalaikaEH(f): 4:17am On Sep 30, 2020 |
edoairways: That is their strategy: get you addicted to two or three channels and you pay for 200 Channels without thinking. They should keep those rights and channels to themselves. DStv cured us of that addiction by themselves. At the time they removed DStv Access and forced us to enter Yanga by force in July, we had no problem with it, because Yanga came with many channels and programs which we liked, including the CNN you are flaunting here. We even did three months subscription of Yanga in a row which expired earlier this month. Within the period, most of the stations and programs have been reshuffled and removed by DSTV including CNN, thereby curing us of addiction to them. Before now, I could not believe that I can stay without watching the teienovellas on Televista. But here we are, getting addicted to other channels on another decoder. Mind you, it is not yet TSTV. They are more stable and it will be difficult to leave them and return to DStv. |
Politics / Re: Why I Will Dump DSTV And Move To TSTV by MalaikaEH(f): 8:55pm On Sep 29, 2020 |
If TSTV is really coming out better, especially in our area, we will settle for it. We installed a free to air decoder to sit side by side with the DStv decoder in our sitting room after we discovered that the reason DSTV is reaping off Nigerians is because of football. Majority of us are not football fanatics, so we can afford to delay DStv subscription while we fill the gap with the other decoder. At least, nobody owes the younger siblings excuses, because the TV will still be showing something. If you are a Nigerian in Nigeria, and you are not addicted to watching live football, it's high time you got and fixed an alternative to DStv. It is the only solution to their arrogance. |
Education / Re: Uzodimma, Open Imo Schools. by MalaikaEH(f): 6:17pm On Sep 27, 2020 |
Sujexy, You did well. God bless you for this write up. Honestly, I am scared for the future of students and education in Imo state under the present government. Throughout the lockdown, they could not come up with any idea on how to help school children continue learning. Now that other states have reopened schools, their brain is just beginning to tell them to start testing for COVID-19, which other states have been doing and are continuing to do. I wonder what they intend to do with the result of such tests at this time. Even if half of Imo state test positive, how does it relate to school children who have been at home for over eight months now? Did they spread the disease at home? Besides, I'm yet to see how ordinary people can go and get tested in the state. No sample collection centers anywhere in the state. Yet they are using testing as excuse. |
