You flashed the rom using the updater app or you downloaded the rom using the updater app? If you did the latter, you most probably downloaded the same rom on your device. Confirm that the present miui version is newer than the former.

I did the latter, although I changed my region to India prior to doing so. I can confirm that it downloaded and flashed the 8.2.2 update.

There's been no new update from Xiaomi since the 8.2.2. The battery life life is currently on the average, now but I still get a day's heavy usage on the update. But the update has helped to stop many Auto start apps which inturn gives more RAM space so you can update if you have data.
