The exercise was just not necessary yet. I thought the government's first call should have been to get his sureties to produce him. Getting the croc to smile when they had not exhausted other civil options was uncalled for. The safety of your people should come first irrespective of their stance on nationhood. |

"Anambra of all places, the home of Azikiwe, where we have the timbers and calibers of the East" Succinctly put. I've always wondered the same. |
It's true that Buhari has sunk this country towards the precipice of disintegration and it appears there's not much that can be done to prevent him from carrying on with his bigoted leadership, unfortunately. He's always received flak from me for casting blurry lines on the future of our beloved country. However, Nnamdi Kanu did not debut on the most welcoming grounds either. His claim to fame is the utterance of vile, hate-filled words that are capable of doing more harm to the Igbo course than one could imagine. That set in motion the chaos that followed. Looking closely, NK ended up leaving his people worse off than before. Some are dead, others injured. Most of his followers have lost their sanity. He's made the Igbo struggle an object of ridicule. Not even his father's palace has been spared. His dog? Dead. Many people, including foreign investors, now consider the SE unsafe. That's the last thing anyone would want for their newly independent state. In the world of finance, perception is everything. It does not matter what the truth really is. It'll take some work to change that now. His rhetorics may not constitute a crime in the legal sense of it, but it is a crime in the layman's court. It's obvious that he decided to run his mouth even before he could weigh the repercussions. Putting your people in harm's way in the manner he did, is atrocious. I do not support the military occupation of the SE in any way. But come on; were you expecting a pat on the back for threatening the territorial integrity of Nigeria? And from the military, for whom it is a primary duty to defend her nation's sovereignty? All over the world, soldiers only speak one language. NK should have known that. Not even Israel would tolerate NK for so long. His approach was all shades of tactless. As for brutus, it's good to see that we have found a less complimentary term for voice of reason. |
fk001:They never lost their voices. It's just that miscreants shout the loudest. This is refreshing. |
Wise words from the man. |
Sanchez01:Very correct assessment. Considering the fact that the entire SE has a total area size that is less than half the size of Borno state by about 6,000 square km, I think it may not take long to deal decisively with the separatists, just as you posit. However, I hope it doesn't come to that. |
Guyman02:Cc: FriendNG. Come collect your sub for this thread. |
FriendNG:Okay. Your problem, then. You obviously have a problem with comprehension. The post you quoted addressed even these things you speak of. But I guess you couldn't read into those. At no point did I try to get anyone to hate Islam. I do not hate Islam; why then should I even attempt to make someone do something I don't? That entire thread was about me saying one thing and one thing only: that we do not subscribe to your hateful, violent-laden, volatile, and loathsome worldview. We would never support any attempt to hurt, damage, or kill someone on our lands. I re-echoed this many times on that thread. It beats me how you still manage not to get it. You may take it to mean that I hate Islam, but no, it's violent extremism, which is of course, associated with Islam, that I loathe. I won't go there again regardless of whether you get it this time or not. The part about you wahabbist Muslims considering others as less religious or godly, I did make mention of. For you people, it is a way of life. I don't want to say more than that. Brag? The fu&k does that even mean? I told you point blank that we would never let you practice your savagery on our soil. You got a problem with Nnamdi Kanu? Then go to Abia and settle scores with him and afterwards invite him over to Kaduna for a return leg. Why would an Ibrahim be crazy enough to think that he can send Ikechukwu packing out of Jos without consequences? What more claims has he on the town than the Igbo guy, seeing as they are both settlers? I swear to you, even mother nature will not tolerate that shiiiit, let alone good natured people like us. Do not mistaken that comment as me watering down my stance on the subject. There's just no need for strong-worded statements on this one. It's not what it is. If we reacted to the actions of every miscreant, there'd be violence each week, every goddam 365 days! That was dismissible. I won't discuss this issue any further. |
FriendNG:Are you focused on just proving a point or seeking understanding? I was at Terminus when tension broke yesterday. It's not exactly what the media is making it seem. The incident happened on the street next to mine. Normally, it would have been dismissed as just miscreants stirring trouble, because that is what it actually is. But no, the news-starved media would rather exaggerate, just so they could generate a few more clicks. Err, btw, I'm not really the kind that does back and forths. I died the matter on purpose, as is evident by my refusal to resurrect the thread by commenting on it after my ban got lifted. In any case, should things escalate, I'm sure you'd get to find out about what you seem so keen to know. For now, there's no need to sweat just yet. Mind you, I have never and will never get into any physical battles. I just speak the minds of the indigenous people. It may interest you to know that I was at my Hausa/Fulani friends' when the issue started. We were gisting and laughing even while people scampered for safety. I'm not so much of a Muslim hater as you'd want to believe. My life perspective is way broader than you can imagine. Think that has to be it. Thanks for reminding me that I still have a duty to protect. |
TonyeBarcanista:I didn't witness it, but got firsthand information from an eye witness. Her account was corroborated by others when I got home. It happened close to the street I was. Even if there were other Igbos, you will still have to start with one, right? It's an Igbo-dominated area, so there should be other Igbos there. |
This report is gibberish! Not even a single building was destroyed. |
TonyeBarcanista:Not really. I was at the market when the issue started. What happened was, some Hausa folks were walking down a street when they sighted some Igbo guy. One of them immediately shouted, "see Igbo!" Soon afterwards, another guy smashed a stone on the victim’s head, splitting his head open. On seeing what happened, people began to scamper for safety. |
Markfemi2:For you, everything boils down to hatred for the Hausa/Fulani. That's the wrong way to approach issues. Learn to be open minded and seek reasons. I'm not their best bud, but it's good to learn to give one a quick pass out of the need to analyse situations more critically before you take a side. These things are not as clear and easy as you make them seem. Bigotry has you ignoring the most discerning alternative to war. Do you really think you can stock enough arms to keep the military off or that getting the USA to occupy Yoruba land is easy as pie? |
![]() Izz like these ones are tired of living, so they want to exit planet earth. No bullet proof, no weapons, no structure, no nothing, yet, they want to fend off another against the might of the military? The boundaries of stupidity have to be defined. These ones are something worse. It's why I always emphasise, "give the people something they'd be afraid to lose." These guys have nothing to live for, obviously. |
freethesheeple:Well, I learnt that IMSU girls are second to none in the East, which by extension, should mean in all of Nigeria. I know about Uniport, but the things I heard about IMSU gave me the chills. Just when I thought I'd seen it all in Unizik, then came friends who deflated my ego. ![]() |
DonHummer:I don't think this has anything to do with the guy being sex-starved. I served in Unizik last year and observed the exact same thing. Stayed in Ifite, but used to frequent Madonna hostel, as I had these friends who stayed there at the time. Each time I visited those guys, I'd either hear some funny story or witness it myself. Had some pretty killing experiences with a number of ladies in Madonna, not to mention my other encounters. Most of these girls, I was meeting for the first time ever. I visited Emmanuel Lodge just once throughout my stay in Awka. There, I was left in a room with two ladies who locked the door and undressed themselves the minute the guy I was with left to get some stuff in his room. Somehow, I managed to keep my cool and talked my way out of there. Since that day, I said never again would I visit that hostel. You don't even need to pay attention to notice these things, as they come to you, depending on your location in Awka. Things like these are less pronounced in mostly residential areas like B Bus Stop, but they happen nonetheless. I've seen it happen more times than I can count. |
Dablack1:Of course. Nobody values a pass degree cert. Have you considered retaking JAMB? |
illuminated93:Word. The people are well behaved and eager to please. I'm sure you will like it. |
Kudos, Plateau United. Well deserved. |
So the epl gets featured every frigging week, but the Nigerian league doesn't get featured on the front page even upon conclusion? What a shame! Seun, lalasticlala, mynd44, you guys need to recheck your priorities. |
AryaSand:LOL. Of the three, only Rashida is recognised officially. Hafi's office is at her house in Jabi. She only uses it to receive visitors and carry out some basic functions. Nothing too elaborate. |
fk001:There's no such thing as north is north. The north is essentially a heterogenous region of constituent, segmented people with not even a single unifying ideology whatsoever. Look closely and you would see that a particular people have suffered more grievously than any other groups from the Fulani Herdsmen menace in recent years. One section of the "north" has suffered and tolerated abuse from "fellow northerners" time and time again, with no end in sight. Our ideas, customs, social behaviour, worldviews, beliefs and practices, etc. are different. There's more that sets us apart than that which unites us. Up north, people view everything through religious lenses. Christians are regarded as "unbelievers," while Middle-beltan Muslims are considered not Muslim enough. Not even the North East and North West are alike, bar religious practices. |
fk001:Kindly point out what exactly is op there? |
There was never a time when the North was as divided as it is now, at least in recent memory. I see cracks everywhere I look. Among all the potential candidates being touted, I have yet to see any that is capable of pulling massive votes across the northern states like Buhari did in 2015. Not even Buhari himself can replicate that any more. Most parts of the middlebelt (Benue, Plateau, parts of Nasarawa, Kogi, Taraba, S. Kaduna, etc.) are beginning to see the core northerners as not their people. Besides, I doubt they'd want to experience a Fulani menace with backing from the FG any longer. This is a great opportunity for the southern part of Nigeria to present a united front. Unfortunately, the Southerners are a lot more divided than the northerners are. If the PDP is serious about winning back the presidency, then they should present a middle-beltan with good acceptability in the South. That's assuming that the candidate has to be from the north. They should not make the mistake of picking an Atiku, Kwankwaso, or Dankwambo, of whom the only sellable person is Dankwambo. Issue with him is, I doubt the middlebelt and South would want him. I typed this while watching CHEEVE, pardon me if e no make sense. I nor dey concentrate. ![]() |
I really don't understand why Buhari will allow a serpent-like cabal of shadowy bureaucratic forces to work from within to destabilise and undermine his government. It's no point roaring like a lion on national TV when in reality, you're being controlled and manipulated by a select few. I can get my head around say, there are people from the previous administration who are still in government and continue to espouse the agenda of their boss. But PMB personally carried these ones over the line on his back. I'd expect that he'd charge them to respect his choices and offer support only. Instead, they are the ones running the show, and him to ruins! These men have all failed at politics and are back to ensure that Buhari does not go down as a legend who changed the way government is run. In time, it'll all pass and his will be a case of a missed opportunity to show why he deserved a second chance to begin with. I hope his ousting will mark the beginning of the disappearance of the old style of leadership and a dead to the cabal in Nigeria. This is why OBJ remains the Don Dada of naija politics. For all the talks about there being a force behind his emergence, he ended up being his own cabal. |

sirfee:Thanks, bro. Man U will stroll through that group to the round of 16. I hope Benfica delivers. Portuguese teams can be so unreliable, ehn. |
cstr1000: Konami94: ![]() See ehn, don't let Neymar's signing deceive you. Pound for pound, Cavani can only dream of becoming as good as Suarez. Angel Di Maria is nowhere near the player that Messi is. With the signing of Dembele, Barca have a player that nearly matches Neymar. Now, in midfield, among Thiago Motta, Rabiot, and Veratti, only Veratti can get in the Barca midfield. Rabiot is good, not great. So he's nowhere near the player that Iniesta is. Thiago Motta is a Barca reject. Defence: Alves is another Barca reject. We have a better player in Semedo. Umtiti is twice the player Thiago Silva is. Marquinhos is having a hard time displacing Kimpembe, who in my humble opinion, is average. Kurzawa is good, but not as good as Alba. Gk: there's no comparison to be made here. Ter Stegen and Areola are worlds apart. So, in a nutshell, only Neymar and Veratti can get in the Barca team. What makes them the better team again? ![]() NB: Not even the signing of 6-months boy wonder, Mbappe, will change these numbers. PSG will always be a small club wherever Barca is mentioned. To think this is despite Barca having possibly the worst management in the club's history ever at the moment. Wait until they are voted out. Barca is forever! |
cstr1000:Players like Neymar are an exception to the rule. Even in his own case, it's been said many times that Barca offered the least financial benefits of all the teams that were after him at the time. His is the case of a man who thinks he can chase the money seeing as he's won all that there is to win already. While he's a money grabber, he first went after his dream. At the time he joined, he never would have dreamt about a day when he'd join PSG. There's nothing PSG is doing that the likes of Chelsea have not done. They did all they could to sign Ronaldinho and Eto'o back then but failed. Teams like that just aren't appealing to real players, except mercenaries. On the contrary, every player finds Madrid attractive. The only players that may turn down Madrid are those who hold dreams of playing for Barca someday. Even at that, some of them still join Madrid regardless - Isco for one. Even during the Franco era, Barca slugged it out with Madrid for the best players like Di Stefano. English teams don't dare come close when these teams fight over players because they know it'll only end in defeat. Not because they lack financial might, but because they lack the allure. Players always prefer Barca/Madrid due to their history and traditions, and not because of money. The only advantage there is that the money enables them to get those players who have always wanted to be at their teams. The English teams however, find it hard to attract even second-tier talents despite having all that money. What do you make of that? There's no player Barca will sign today that Man U. city, or Chelsea cannot afford to sign. But will the player agree to join those teams when Barca come calling? Money is important, but ambition ranks first for most good players. |
