Christianity Etc › Re: The Tri-unity Of God And The Work Of Salvation. by malvisguy212(op): 10:45pm On Feb 27, 2016
The Work of the Triune God in Salvation 1. THE FATHER He planned our salvation (Rom. 8:28-31). He sent His Son (1 John 4:9-10). He gave His Son (John 3:16; Rom.8:32). 2. THE SON He did the actual WORK of salvation (John 17:4;19:30). He was the Great Saviour (Titus 2:13-14). He died to provide salvation (1 Tim. 2:6). 3. THE HOLY SPIRIT He gives the saved person a NEW LIFE (2 Cor. 3:6). He gives the saved person a NEW BIRTH (John 3:5; Tit. 3:5). He garnishes and makes the sinner beautiful by placing him IN CHRIST (2 Cor. 5:17), and thus He provides him with the beautiful garments of redemption, sanctification and justification (1 Cor. 6:11, and see 1 Cor. 1:30).

Can we really understand the trinity ? We can't , how can a finite being understand an infinite God ? Our responsibility is to believe what God has said about Himself.

The old testament prove the fact that there is ONLY ONE GOD. Isreal is surrounded with many nation that worship different gods. God people needed to know that there is only ONE GOD:

Deut. 6:4
"Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is ONE LORD"

This verse give two details about God. 1. The nature of God (God's ONENESS) and 2. Jehovah is the only God.The old testament emphasizing of the UNITY of God, is not silent with respect to
the PLURALITY of God's Nature. The old testament lay the groundwork for the new testament revelation.

The hebrew word for God is Elohim, plural in form."In the beginning God CREATED" (Genesis 1:1). God is the omnipotent CREATOR! The name for "God" found in Genesis 1:1 is the Hebrew word "ELOHIM" the ending of this word (..IM) is a plural ending,(more than one) just like our english language "S" is the ending word for plural. For example:

1. CHERUBIM (Exodus 25:18-20)
2. SERAPHIM (Isaiah 6:2,6)
3. TERAPHIM(judges 17:5)

The words end with IM , they are plural in form. In Genesis 1:1 the verb "CREATED" is a
SINGULAR verb, and it means "HE (singular)
CREATED." Two answers may be given to the
question, "Who created the heavens and the
earth?"
1. HE DID (singular) because the verb means
"HE CREATED." The verb does not mean
"THEY CREATED."
2. GOD DID (plural) because the word
ELOHIM is a plural word!

So, there is a sense in which God the Creator is
singular. There is only ONE God and He is the
Creator. There is no other God. It is also true
that there is a sense in which He is plural. This
brings us to our next point:

PLURAL UNITY OF GOD.
Deuteronomy 6:4 says: "Hear, O Israel: The
LORD [singular] our God [ELOHIM-plural] is ONE Lord."

God is Love, if God is two, our Love will be DIVIDED and one will not Get our full devotion. So YES, God is ONE and He deserve our Full attention.

The Hebrew word"ONE"found in Deuteronomy 6:4 is a word that can be used to describe a
plural (composite) UNITY (a unity made up of
more than one component). For Example in Genesis 11:5 "Behold, the PEOPLE IS ONE." The
people (plural) at Babel were united together as ONE. It was a UNITY, but it was made up of
many people (a plural unity).

Another example is in Genesis 2:24 where the same word "one" is found: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh." Here we have a plural unity. It is a ONENESS made up of two persons" a husband and a wife" They (plural) shall be one (singular) flesh. The two are one.

Just as Genesis 11:5 speaks of a plural unity
(many people being ONE), and just as Genesis
2:24 speaks of a plural unity (two people being
ONE), so also Deuteronomy 6:4 describes God
who is a PLURAL UNITY. Later we will learn that this plural unity is actually a TRI-UNITY.

In Isaiah 6:8 , we have a threefold
declaration of God's holiness: "And one cried
unto another, and said, HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is
the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of His
glory" (Isaiah 6:3). we learn elsewhere in Scripture, namely that 1) God the Father is Holy (John 17:11); 2) God the Son is Holy (Heb. 7:26 and compare Luke 1:35); 3) God the Holy Spirit is Holy (as His very Name declares)

In Genesis , God is repeatedly mention as the creator, and in Genesis 1:2 we saw how the Holy spirit is actively involve " was moving in the face of the water. And in john 1:1 we understand that the Word (jesus) was God and everything were created through Him.

Philadelphia:
The Law is not only for the Jews but for everyone. Your analysis of Paul in the Spirit on the Lord's day to mean on Sunday is wrong. Remember, Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. If He is Lord of the Sabbath (a day which you have rightly agreed is on Saturday), then what John meant by the Lord's day is Saturday.
Now, killing, adultery, stealing are sins but not remembering to keep the Sabbath day Holy and worshipping on Saturday is not a sin undecided How na? Or did Jesus select only the Sabbath day and nail it to the cross or did he nail the whole 10 commandments to the cross (which means there is no more sin)? Or did he nail the ceremonial laws to the cross? Let us reason together.
I don't even know were to start from, The Law was not given to the first Adam, nor to the
human race; but to Israel only Deut. 4:5-8. The law was not given to the last Adam (jesus),jesus is the Life GIVEN spirit. The gentiles are only advice to learn from the law:
Romans 15:4
For whatsoever things were written aforetime
were written for our learning...

Let me ask you, of what purpose is the death of jesus to us, if the law can save you ? Listen!! Christ earthly life under the law is NOT our righteousness.

Do you know the meaning of the phrase " the Lord of the sabbath ? Read the context very well, in verse one "His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them." On a sabbath day, the teachers of the law confronted jesus for entering a farm on the sabbath, this is what lead to the statement. "The lord of the sabbath". ). In these verses, Jesus is proclaiming that He is the One who exercises authority even over the rules and regulations that govern the Sabbath day.

If the lord's day is saturday, I want you to prove it.

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ
Colossians 3:16,17
God bless you bro,
@ op. There is difference between the Lord's day and the sabbath day. Yes, the sabbath day is the seventh day, and it is saturday. The jews keep the Sabbath from sundown on the sixth day (i.e. Friday) to sundown on the seventh day (i.e. Saturday). The beginning of the day begins at night
because of Genesis 1:1-2; in the beginning
of the first day it was dark!

Genesis 1:5, "And God called the light
Day, and the darkness he called Night.
And the EVENING AND THE MORNING were the first day.

Base on the explanation given above concerning the sabbath, the we can say, the first day of the week is Sunday.

Matthew 28:1 In the END of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Revelation 1:10 say" I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet,"

The Lord's day use in revelation did not mean judgment day , if it judgment day, john would've use " the day of the Lord". Who wrote the book of revelation ? John, Where was he
when he wrote it? He was on the Island of
Patmos. Why was he there? Because of the
word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus
Christ. What happened to him? He was taken off in the Spirit. When did this vision occur? This
vision commenced on ‘the Lord’s day.’ since the SEVENTH day is the sabbath (saturday) , the Lord day cannot be saturday, but sunday which is the day christian gather to worship.

The gentile are not commanded to keep the sabbath, The very reason Israel was called to keep the Sabbath was both to remember that God was the Creator of the heavens and earth Ex. 20:8-11,and that He had also redeemed them out of Egypt Deut 5:12-15. The truth is that the sabbath and ALL other religion ritual are no longer binding on christians since christ death and resurrection. Christ death forestshadow all this Law.

The Royal 'Us' and 'We' is not used Once in the Bible but since the Quran uses it, it further establishes the fact that we are not referring to the same God.

Muslims believe when Allah says Us /We He it is done in self-reference; Christians believe when God says Us (He Never used We, rather He uses I!), it points to His Triune Nature. Meaning we are just not referring to the same Personality!

Isaiah, Daniel, Zechariah , David all prophesied of the Messiah, referred to His Pre-existence with the Father and prophesied of His death and resurrection. Since they do not believe in same, then we can logically say that we are not referring to the same God.
the funniest part is that this muslims will keep on insisting, we worship the same God.

how has being a savior made him a deity worthy of worship--is savior another word for God?

Are you trying to say it was christ who was speaking in john17:3 and not God the son. So God the son is a different being and christ is another being..and both of them do make their statements in the bible..never knew..

Wow how concocted and confusing

The his,the him and the We(singular we of royalty) all refer to the same being God
God say, their is NO savior , ONLY him, yet the bible say Jesus is the savior, what does it imply ? God the son did not override the person of christ, they are both distinct. Have you ever witness a possess man being healed ? Prior to his deliverance, he will speak some unthinkable word. Is he the one speaking or the demon who possess him speaking ?

Jesus is fully God and Fully man, the fact that he was born at a specific period of time prove he was a man. And the fact that He was from old, whose origin is not from this world, prove he is God. As long as jesus is a man, surly he pray, eat, walk and fast, He does so because that was the duty of man. The context of john 17 is "jesus pray for the believers" and when He call the father, the only true God, He does so because it was the duty of All men to call God the only true God.

first..you confirmed that the elohim is plural in form...and deuteronomy saith the lord our God is one God..

The question is, when elohim(plural) is used does it mean christ(god the son as you call him) and God the father---if so,, deuteronomy could be explained "correctly" to mean both jesus and God are one...

Now moving to john17:3---JESUS said...and this is life eternal that they know YOU(God the father) THE ONLY TRUE GOD and jesus christ(another personal) whom you(God the father) SENT

Looking and john17:3 one is compelled to ask,,if christ and God the father are/is one how come christ himself addressed God the father as THE ONLY TRUE and and referred to himself as SENT By God the father

Is there a hierarchy ? In that God the father has more authority than God the son and God the father now become the superior God and god the son the inferior

This is clearly shown when christ summoned God the father saying "IF IT bE THY Will let this cup pass over me" ---here god the son falls under the will and authority of God the father and has no authority of his own

Is God the son the inferior god and God the father the superior God or is the muslim man correct when he referred to christ as a prophet and a messenger("sent"-john17:3) of God

---second---as for the koranic verse you posted there is no standard literature which tags this form of expression as incorrect, it is infact very correct
there is difference between God the son and christ, christ is a man, it was God the son who incarnate in jesus christ. But how can Jesus’ statement about His Father being “the only true God” be harmonized with statements made by thomas, peter concerning the deity of Christ ? It was in the very same gospel of john that the deity of christ is well proven. Jesus statement was made in the opposition of the world's false God. Isaiah 43:11 God say "beside me their is NO savior" YET peter, one of jesus disciple and paul say jesus is the savior

Who is the speaker of the quranic verse I paste ? Who is the "HIM" and the "HE" ? If the 'him' or 'he' is Allah , why will allah switch from plurality to singularity ?

Christianity Etc › Re: Can Anyone Explain Partial Rapture Fully ? by malvisguy212: 2:40am On Feb 25, 2016
The Church did not begin until after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Acts chapter 2 we learn that " When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in ONE PLACE"
That is were the church of God began, it was this day that the holy spirit began to live in the believers as jesus promise, this is were christ began to build His church,( remember, He is the vinedresser). In acts chapter 2 verse 14 they were only eleven but after that day, more numbers were added, and in verse 41, the numbers rise to 3000. And in verse 47 more numbers were still added:

47
" praising God and enjoying the favor of all the
people. And the Lord ADDED to their number
daily those who were being saved."

Uptill today, jesus is still building the church, more numbers are still added. In Colossians 3:4 say " christ is the head of the church" so to kill the church, you must kill the head, Is it possible to kill Him (see Revelation 1:18 and Romans 6:9)?

The church will NEVER die, but some day, christ will come and remove the church from this world, are you among the members of His church ? In 1 Corinthians 15:51 the bible say :

" Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will NOT ALL SLEEP , but we will all be CHANGE-"

The reason some believers will not die,is because christ will come and took them. This great event (the removal of the Church) is called the RAPTURE. Some members of the church have already died and gone to be with the Lord, people like paul, peter, stephen etc . And their are also member of christ church who are still alive , this include you ,me and the rest believers:

1 Thessalonians 4:17
17 After that, WE who are still alive and are left
will be caught up TOGETHER with them in the
clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we
will be with the Lord forever.

THEY (the members of the Church who have
already died) and WE (the members of the
church who are still living on earth) will meet
together in the air to be with the Lord forever.

When will Jesus come to remove His Church
from the earth and to take His believers to
heaven? When will the rapture take place?
Today? Tomorrow? Next month? Next year? NO one know, but one thing for sure, when christ has finished using His church, when the last member of His church is save, that is when the rapture will take place.

In the days of noah, God gave the people 120 years for them to repent, but they refuse, God gave the amalakites 400 years Before He carry out His judgment. For about the last two thousand years God has been giving men the opportunity to become members of His Church. Soon the day of opportunity will be past and the Church will be removed from the earth.

After the rapture, people can still be save, but they will not be members of the church of christ, During this time men’s hearts will not grow softer; they will grow harder and harder like Pharaoh see Rev. 9:20-21.

Revelation 9:20-21
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by
these plagues still did not repent of the work of
their hands; they did not stop worshiping
demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone
and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or
walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders,
their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

You see, this is EXACTLY what happened to pharoah, even when pharoah survive the plagues, HIS MIND grow HADER and HADER. The holy spirit convict the unbelievers of their sin, after the rapture, the believers will be gone meaning the holy spirit will no longer be here, men heart will grow cold and do more evil.

When will the rapture take place? We do not
know. Maybe there is only one more person
who needs to be saved before God’s purpose for the Church is fulfilled. Only God knows this.
Only God knows when He is finished building
the Church and when the Church will be
completed. Maybe there are 10 more people or 100 more people or 1000 more people that God will save before Christ returns for His
completed Church. For about 2000 years God
has been saving people and making them
members of His body, which is the Church.
Are You Ready? Its a choice, you accept or reject.

Second you claimed the word ancient of days was used to describe TWO PEOPLE(different personal),,make it glaring that there existed to Gods, the superior and the inferior..now kindly explain how this conforms with monotheism and please where is the place of God the holy spirit,,isn't he ancient of days also

Glory be to HIM Who made HIS servant to

remote mosque of which WE have blessed

some of Our signs; surely HE is the Hearing,
the Seeing.

The last text is even more confusing. If you take
that sentence seriously, then there are at least
four persons involved here. Person A to whom
glory is given, person B is the servant of person
A, and persons C and D (or more) who are the
subject and the speakers of this whole
sentence. Actually, who is "him"? … so that WE
show to HIM some of … surely HE is the …
seeing. Doesn’t the structure suggest that the
HIM and the HE should be the same?

The Hebrew word for GOD ("Elohim"wink is plural
in form:
Deuteronomy 6:4 says: "Hear, O Israel: The
LORD [singular] our God [ELOHIM-plural] is ONE Lord."

The Hebrew word "ONE" found in this verse was use to describe a UNITY made up of
more than one component. Example of this same word (one) use in the bible was in Genesis 11:5:

Genesis 11:5 "Behold, the PEOPLE IS ONE."

The people (plural) at Babel were united together as ONE. It was a UNITY, but it was made up of many people (a plural unity). I don't want to say much, I promise to open a thread about trinity.

Simple question i asked you. Is Jesus God?. It is Yes/No answer.

If a muslim is asked that question, his/her answer will be No.

But when i asked you, you came up with bunch of confused Bible passages "he was a word, the word became flesh, the flesh redeemed itself, the flesh became man, the man is spirit, the spirit walk in man, the spirit goes back to father, the Father is God, He is also Son, and Begotten Son, and Only qualified Begotten Son, and He is God." What the heck do i need all that for?. It is Yes or no answer.
jesus is the eternal God, from ancient of days, whose ORIGIN is NOT from this world. That's the biblical meaning of ancient of days.

Let me explain something to you, if your canal mind can comprehend this:

The phrase ancient of days were use to describe only TWO people, God the father and God the son, in micah 5:2 it was use to describe the messiah, but in daniel
chapter 7. In verse 13 we read, "I saw in the
night visions, and behold, with the clouds of
heaven there came one like a SON OF MAN, and HE came to the ANCIENT OF DAYS and was
presented before him."

Here the Ancient of
Days is God the Father and the son of man is a
Messianic reference to Jesus. The ancient of days is a clear reference to a Deity because His origin is unknown, this is what the psalmist wrote about this tile:

Psalm 90:2
2 BEFORE the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the
world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Now compare psalm 90:2 with isaiah 9:6 which say jesus is the EVERLASTING father. The father here imply , the father of ALL creation, because everything come through Him (His command) .

All this is strange to muhammed, muhammed dos not understand the nature of God. the quran use plurality to address the nature of God but NO attempt were made to explain it, some muslims scholar say the we is referring to allah and his angels.

Surah 21:91
And she who guarded her virginity, so WE BREATHED into her of OUR SPIRIT (roohina)
and appointed her and her son to be a sign
unto all beings.

How many people breath on mary ? Allah and his angels ? our spirit ? So angels can share Glory with God ? All this, muhammed could not explain it.

Empiree did a great job up there, I could never have done half of what he did. Fortunately, the person i quoted is more reasonable than you.

I own nobody a futile argument.
you see the point, if empiree know what he is talking about, he will surly address the bible passage I quote, but he know not what he was doing.
malvisguy212:
In zachariah 12. Verse one it was GOD speaking, and here what verse 10 say:
Zechariah 12:10
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a] of
grace and supplication. THEY WILL LOOK ON [b] ME,
THE ONE THEY HAVE PIERCED , and they will mourn
for him as one mourns for an only child, and
grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a
firstborn son.
see John 19:37 and Rev. 1:7.
. If empiree really know what he is talking about, he would've address this verses, but he ignore it. Even my first post, I provide another verse, he ignore all. That is why I advice scholar to ignore him.

he did NOTHING, all his explanation was not islamic, but jehovah witness. If he was a jehovah witness, I would've quote some verses for him.

Jesuismoi:
The Qur'an knows no love. But hate.
the muslims know that any attempt to prove that Allah love both the unbelievers and believers, will amount to contradiction, that why they are afraid to reply.

You don't need to be sorry cos of what I said cos I meant every bit of it. I wonder why you have problem with Islam cos of the negative news the media is propagating about it. Mind you, if there are no good Muslims, I'm sure there are no good Christians either. I don't know why people resort to abuses and insults in the name of defending their religion. How will you pass your message when you resort to abusing people? Is that what the religions taught us? How sure are you that your acts will be accepted or you'll be rewarded if you defend your religion in these manners?
Although, everybody have rights to express themselves but there are things people say about God and His Prophets especially in this forum that will make them incur the wrath of God. So watch yourself and how you react to religious issues even if you're being abused.
Finally, i'm not embarrassed with anything I see especially here on Nairaland cos I've gotten used to it. If you cant tolerate your fellow human being all in the name of religion, I wonder how you'll tolerate your closed relatives who share different ideologies or beliefs. (the YOU is not directed to only you).
Peace.
I don't need the media to tell me what islam is all about, I read quran and hadith, what I've read in both books, I tell you the truth muhammed acts and deed disqualify him as prophet, do you really think God will sanction the divorce of someone wife in other for him to marry the same woman ? This is the same acts david did and he pay dearly for it. Muhammed allow his followers to marry more than 4 wives, but he did not want the husband of his daughter to marry another woman, is this not hypocrite ? Do you know what it mean to believe in jesus christ ? Do you not known that the devil believe in Him ?
