lllllllllllll:
they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Mark 16:18

If the Christian here really believers, make videos of yourself snake handling, drinking rat poison, and healing the sick in hospital. Great chance to prove how right you are. Failure to do so will lead me to believe you not true believers. Call the international media when at hospitals healing the sick. The onus is on you,
you lack knowledge of God word, the verse is not a command for All christians, it is a promised of protection, a similar event happened with apostle paul, paul did not purposely take up serpent, is was an unexpected accident, and God miraculously protected His servant as He had promised!

Deliberately taken up serpent and drinking poisoning water is against God command, the scripture made this clear. What you are doing here, is EXACTLY what satan did In Matthew 4:5-6, he TEMPT Jesus to throw himself down from the mountain if Jesus was the son of God, satan even promised Jesus protection, but what did Jesus say ? I will give you the answer Jesus gave satan;

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, GET THE HENCE , SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt
worship the Lord thy God, and him only
shalt thou serve.

Legal could as well mean adopted but not biological son.
What really make it hard is, Jesus is not the biological son of Joseph and the bible Neva said he was legally adopted by Joseph. So whose son is he and what gives him claim to throne of David?
Even if you say the adoption was implied, Joseph being the descendant of Jehoiakim invalidate his claim, since Jehoiakim and all his descendant where cursed by God.

Matthew 1:11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

1 Chronicles 3:16 And the sons of Jehoiakim: Jeconiah his son, Zedekiah his son.

Jeremiah 36:30 Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

Matthew and Luke dept confusing the ancestor of Joseph (Solomon (Matthew 1:6) Nathan(Luke3:31)) the actually father of Joseph (Jacob (Matthew 1:16) Hell (Luke 3:23))
listen, read luke chapter two, Joseph and Mary went for the census in Bethlehem to be counted, it was on their way going , at night when Jesus was born, and they register together with their child.

Luke 2:22
22 Also, when the time came for
purifying them according to the Law of
Moses, + they brought him up to
Jerusalem to present him to Jehovah,*

If Jesus is not counted as legal son of Joseph, they will not be allowed to circumcised the child according to the law of Moses.

Both Matthew and Luke signify that
Joseph was not Jesus’ actual father but
only his adoptive father, giving him legal right.

Jeremiah 22:30, "Thus saith the
LORD, Write ye this man
childless, a man that shall not
prosper IN HIS DAYS: for no
man of his seed shall prosper,
sitting upon the throne of
David, and ruling any more in
JUDAH."

There are two points that need to be
observed. 1) Notice this is a curse upon the man of Coniah’s seed, and was to last only DURING HIS DAYS, while he was still living. The "man" referred to in "a MAN that shall not prosper in his days" refers to the "man of his seed." This verse says nothing about this curse being placed upon Coniah’s descendants AFTER his days.
And 2) This curse prevented his seed
from ruling JUDAH ONLY. In Luke 1:33, it says "Jesus shall reign over the house of Jacob," not Judah. Judah was destroyed in 70AD, and 70AD is when Jesus did fully reign. It wasn’t until the destruction of Jerusalem and Judah in 70AD that
Jesus put all enemies under his footstool. Judah has not existed
since 70AD. Based upon these two points, this verse could not refer to Jesus. Now for Jeremiah 36:30-31:

Jeremiah 36:30-31, "Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead
body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost. And I will punish him and his SEED and
his servants for THEIR INIQUITY."

Legal or adopted? Remember he was conceived of the holy spirit. In any way, Joseph is a descendant of Jehoiakim according to the passage who is curse. In any case, Jesus is cursed and has no right to the throne of David.

In fact you should know the two passages are saying different things. Probably, the Holy spirit was confused or just forgot what he said previous.
are you a student ? Do you know the meaning , when they say you are not in the same bloodline ? What about adopted sons ?

Would Jesus inherit Davids throne?
· Yes. So said the angel (Luke 1:32)
· No, since he is a descendant of Jehoiakim (see Matthew 1:11, I Chronicles 3:16). And Jehoiakim was cursed by God so that none of his descendants can sit upon Davids throne (Jeremiah 36:30)
I did not see this.

Jesus was the legal son of Joseph but not the biological son of Joseph. By bloodline Jesus bypass the curse.

By the virtue of the marriage of Joseph to Mary, Jesus become the LEGAL son of Joseph, so he inherited the throne of David and bypass the curse of Jeconiah.

Everytin that does not favour u guys is parable! But when he talked about the coming of the comforted wherein he mention the spirit of truth, u guys said he was not speaking in parables!
The Parable of the Ten Minas
11 While they were listening to this, he
went on to tell them a parable, because
he was near Jerusalem and the people
thought that the kingdom of God was
going to appear at once. 12 He said: “A
man of noble birth went to a distant
country to have himself appointed king
and then to return. 13 So he called ten of
his servants and gave them ten minas.[a]
‘Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I
come back.’
14 “But his subjects hated him and sent
a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t
want this man to be our king.’
15 “He was made king, however, and
returned home. Then he sent for the
servants to whom he had given the
money, in order to find out what they
had gained with it.
16 “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your
mina has earned ten more.’
17 “‘Well done, my good servant!’ his
master replied. ‘Because you have been
trustworthy in a very small matter, take
charge of ten cities.’
18 “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your
mina has earned five more.’
19 “His master answered, ‘You take
charge of five cities.’
20 “Then another servant came and said,
‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid
away in a piece of cloth. 21 I was afraid
of you, because you are a hard man. You
take out what you did not put in and
reap what you did not sow.’
22 “His master replied, ‘I will judge you
by your own words, you wicked servant!
You knew, did you, that I am a hard man,
taking out what I did not put in, and
reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then
didn’t you put my money on deposit, so
that when I came back, I could have
collected it with interest?’
24 “Then he said to those standing by,
‘Take his mina away from him and give it
to the one who has ten minas.’
25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to
everyone who has, more will be given,
but as for the one who has nothing, even
what they have will be taken away. 27
But those enemies of mine who did not
want me to be king over them—bring
them here and kill them in front of me.’”

Of course, I don't expect you to.

That's so easy for you. Your dead Jesus said it would happen, so that must be the reason. When people fall from the faith, Jesus already prophesied that. When the faith adds a new number, you remember he also prophesied to release his Spirit in the last days. Either way, he wins. It's like a coin with heads on both sides.

Judging from the conflicting doctrines that rise up from Christendom, I'm sorry to say, your GOD's leadership skills are questionable. He clearly lacks communication skills and has obstinately refused to upgrade his manual.

Modified.
I know this thread will never reach front page. https://www.nairaland.com/2914410/difference-between-religion-christianity

There are differences between
Christianity and religion, Many are
GOING TO CHURCH but few are GOING
DOWN THE ROAD WHICH LEADS TO LIFE.
Many are RELIGIOUS but few are RIGHT
WITH GOD.
Religion is DOING while Christianity is
DONE. When Jesus cried on the cross, "it
is finished" The work of our salvation was
FINISHED, DONE, ACCOMPLISHED and
COMPLETED. A religious man may be
likened as a man who try to swim from
river kaduna to niger by his own
strength, he will never make it. But the
man who is save by faith is likened to be
a man who get on a ship, hoping it will
take him to his destination. This man
simply rests upon the ship and lets the
ship do all the work.
THIS ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
RELIGION AND CHRISTIANITY.
1. RELIGION: "Salvation is something I
must do. I must somehow earn or gain
salvation by the way I live."
CHRISTIANITY: "Salvation is something
only God can do. Salvation is of the
LORD!" (Eph. 2:8-9).
2. RELIGION: Religion is summed up in
one word: DO--man trying to DO different
things to please God and earn His favor.
CHRISTIANITY: Christianity is summed up
in one word; DONE--Christ dying on the
cross to save sinful man (John 19:30).
3. RELIGION: The religious man is busy
"working" (doing good works) in order to
be saved.
CHRISTIANITY: The saved person is "not
working" (Rom. 4:5) but is RESTING upon
the finished work of Another. Although
he must beware (1 peter 5:
4. RELIGION: RELIGION is man trying to
BRING HIMSELF TO GOD (by human
effort, good works, ritualism,
traditionalism, sacraments, etc.).
CHRISTIANITY: CHRISTIANITY is Christ
BRINGING US TO GOD on the basis of
what He did for us on the cross, NOT by
our own effort. (1 Peter 3:18).
5. RELIGION: Man trying to please God in
the wrong way (Rom. 8:8--"So then they
that are in the FLESH cannot please
God" .
CHRISTIANITY: Man truly pleasing God in
the only way (Hebrews 11:6--"But without
faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he
is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him" .
6. RELIGION: The religious man is seeking
to establish his own righteousness by
ignoring the way of the righteousness of
God (Rom. 10:3).
CHRISTIANITY: The saved man is satisfied
with the perfect righteousness of Jesus
Christ (2 Cor. 5:21).
7.RELIGION: Religion is pictured in
Genesis 3 by the fig leaves that Adam
and Eve made for themselves--a terrible
covering (Gen. 3:7).
CHRISTIANITY: Salvation is pictured in
Genesis 3 by the coats of skin which God
provided by way of the shedding of
BLOOD--a perfect covering (Gen. 3:21).
8.RELIGION: CAIN'S RELIGION--"I bring to
God the labour of my own hands" (Gen.
4:3).
CHRISTIANITY: ABEL'S FAITH--"I bring to
God a blood sacrifice. An innocent
substitute must die to save me" (Gen.
4:4).
Good works done by sinful man can
never please a holy God. The greatest
good work is GOD'S WORK accomplished
by Jesus Christ who offered Himself on
the cross as the sinner's Substitute. Thus
we are not saved by good works but we
are saved unto good works: "For we are
his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in
them" (Ephesians 2:10). "For it is God
which worketh in you both to will and to
do of his good pleasure" (Philippians
2:13).
Are you resting fully in the finished work
of Christ? Are you trusting in Jesus Christ,
WHO HE IS, WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR
YOU and WHAT HE HAS SAID IN HIS
WORD? "Look unto me, and be ye saved,
all the ends of the earth: for I am God,
and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:22).

I've looked at a few different versions of the Bible, and I'm stumped.

Who incited David to count the fighting men of Israel?

God did (2 Samuel 24: 1)
Satan did (I Chronicles 21:1)

2 Samuel 24New International Version (NIV)

David Enrolls the Fighting Men
24 Again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”

1 Chronicles 21:1New International Version (NIV)

David Counts the Fighting Men
21 Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.
this happened toward the end of David reign in isreal, David was looking at his achievement and success rather than the mercy of God. So God wanted to bring David to his knell, God has already warn David not to numbers isreal in chronicles:

Bakrabas:
The book of deut. Said it that a marriage shall be conceived valid if only the wife is a Virgin. What a bombshell on the Christians. What evidence do we need again?
the verse is talking about adultery,if the woman who is ALREADY betrothed but
commits adultery before the marriage is
consummated with her husband. How
do we know the woman in the verse is betrothed? The Hebrew word for virgin has two meaning, almah: an espoused virgin, and
bethuwlah: a virgin who is not
espoused. "Almah" is the word used
here. Therefore it must be noted that
once a couple was betrothed, there was
considered to be a valid marriage even
before the marriage was consummated.

Not all laws in the old testament we are to follow, some laws are superseded, for instance, according to the mosaic law, the adultery woman is soppose to be stone to death, but Jesus gave her the grace of repentance.

The Greek term for "firstborn" is
prototokos. Firstborn of all creation does NOT mean christ was "born first" or created first, NO it refer to christ POSITION of SUPREMACY by virtue
of the fact that He is the Creator of all
things and everything came through Him
, see verse 16. The word "firstborn" in Colossians 1:15 refers to positional priority not temporal priority. For example In Psalm 89:27 King
David is placed as FIRSTBORN,but David
was actually the last-born son of Jesse.
Isreal is call "FIRSTBORN" but Israel was not the first nation that God brought into existence, but POSITIONALLY as God's chosen and privileged nation
Israel was supreme.

The simply conclusion in colossian 1 was, the word firstborn was NOT use to described chronological oder of event. It was use to express Christ's priority as the CREATOR because all OTHER created being came through HIM as verse 16 say and I quote:

" FOR IN HIM ALL THINGS WERE CREATED : things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been
created THROUGH HIM and for him. "

There is a Greek word which means FIRST CREATED (protoktistos) but Paul did not use this word of Christ.

@ op, many christian may say this verse talk about christ second coming, if you read the whole conversation in John 14, you will understand what Jesus really mean. Verse 2 and 3 tell us were Jesus is going, but verse 6 tells us where He’s going and how we His followers will get there: He is going to the Father, and we come to the Father when we get saved through Jesus. How do we go to the father ? Do we come to the Father through Jesus only when He RETURN IN THE FUTURE , or have we come to Him ALREADY through faith? The entire context makes this point clear. We go to the father's house only when we became a followers of christ.

The father's house may be a temple and we are His new household, the reason I said this is because, the Greek word (dwelling place) use in verse 2 was use again in verse 23 and it carry the same meaning
Verse 23
“The one who loves Me will obey Me, and My Father will love that one and we will COME make our ‘dwelling-place’ WITH that person”

If you read the related verses which mention the word dwell, it always encourage us to abide in Him. Yes christ will return someday, but hope we all know that christ return after His ressurection to His disciples as promised.

So the point is that christ return after His ressurection and invite us to live a NEW life with Him which He brought through the ressurection, infact verse 18 and 19 says he will not leave us as orphan.

18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live
