Propaganda of the highest proportion for those who can't decipher. It can't & it'll never happen, not when Buhari is alive |
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Thursday, said President Muhammadu Buhari ‘has a choice between dialogue, on one hand, and an avoidable war against the Igbo, on the other.’ The organisation was reacting to the President’s interview on the Arise TV where he warned that the Igbo “are scattered everywhere in Nigeria with their businesses and property, and should not be making trouble.” Buhari further said that Ndigbo, having been landlocked, would not be allowed any “access to the outside world by sea.” According to him, “In any case, we said we will talk to them in the language they will understand. We will organise the police and the army to pursue them; that’s what we can do and we will do it.” Ohanaeze, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, also recalled that on June 1, 2021, while addressing the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the Villa, President Buhari “vowed to shock those bent on destroying” his government. Ohanaeze, while reiterating its stance in adopting dialogue to Nigeria’s current insecurity, quoted its president-general, Ambassador George Obiozor, on June 4, calling for a ‘dialogue to resolve the present national crises’. It further said: “With the present level of violence in Nigeria, Nigeria has arrived at a critical juncture. Both history and literature show that the decision taken by a leader at a critical juncture has a lasting effect for the society. “President Buhari has a choice between Dialogue on one hand and an avoidable War against the Igbo on the other. Again, history shows that our thoughts are very infinitesimal to the immutable Law of the Universe.” It, however, observed some injustices targeted at Ndigbo to include: “Deliberate posting of northern military and police officers at the various strategic locations in the Southeast; special national security council meeting, where major decisions were taken for the South East and the South South to the utter exclusion of security personnel from the South East. “Launching of the Operation Restore Peace in the South East and South South; shoot on sight order by the inspector general of police targeted at the Igbo youths. And the shock Twit where Mr President stated that ‘those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.” The statement added: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo has cautioned that the unprecedented lopsidedness of the Nigerian government in favour of the Fulani, to the exclusion of other ethnic groups, especially in the security architecture, will rather exacerbate the internal security challenges in the country. “Ohanaeze Ndigbo believes that the agitation by the Igbo youth over marginalization is justified. In spite of the orchestrated alienation of the Igbo, we are committed to a diplomatic approach towards a restructured Nigeria that guarantees equity, fairness and rule of law.” https://dailytimes.ng/president-has-choice-between-dialogue-and-avoidable-war-against-igbo-says-ohanaeze/ |
As the face-off between the Federal Government and Twitter persists, there are indications that some Western nations had earlier received a formal designation of the activities of IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as terrorists. A top Federal Government official, who made the disclosure, said the government, which turned in the petition almost two months ago, was surprised when a number of such Western diplomats issued a statement over the weekend on the Twitter ban. The source said the statement completely ignored the violence being incited by Kanu, a concern the president’s deleted tweet sought to confront. It said this information regarding the level of violence Kanu had been inciting and directly engaged with “are details that many of the Abuja based diplomats have already become aware of based on official communication from the Nigerian government.” According to the source, details of the Federal Government’s communication to some diplomatic missions from Western nations are now beginning to emerge, including a clear designation of the group as terrorists. Also in the communication is a formal request that the international community should treat IPOB and its leaders as criminals and terrorists in the manner of other known terrorist organisations around the world. The source said that the Federal Government in that communication had explained to some of the Western countries’ embassies that “the Nigerian National Assembly, like nearly every parliament in the world, has already passed a law to counter terrorism and violent extremism in the country, viz; the Terrorism (Prevention) Act. “Within that legal framework, the Nigerian authorities had sought and obtained a court order declaring and proscribing IPOB as a terrorist organisation (Order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Nigeria in SUIT NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/871/2017 – ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION V. IPOB dated 20th September 2017), which order was consequently published in the Federal Government of Nigeria Official Gazette No. 99 Vol. 104 as Terrorism (Prevention) (Proscription Order) Notice 2017. ” This, therefore, makes IPOB a terrorist organisation and following the 2017 order of proscription by the Federal High Court, IPOB filed an appeal (APPEAL NO: CA/ABJ/214/2018 – IPOB V. ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION) which is now pending before the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Nigeria. “The implication of the provisions of Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act on the issue at hand is that IPOB is an outlawed organisation. ” Whoever fraternises or supports the organisation is undermining Nigeria’s criminal legislations while also posing a threat to its national security and sovereignty. ” It must be stated that there are several groups in Nigeria who advocate restructuring of the country or even call for secession, yet they carry out their activities unhindered in so far as it is within the confines of the law. ” It is important to stress that IPOB was declared a terrorist organisation based on proven acts of terrorism.” Giving an update on the number of attacks, the source stated that “in roughly under four months (from January to April) this year, IPOB has carried out over fifty-five (55) violent acts in various parts of Nigeria killing scores of people and destroying many properties.” The top government official also disclosed that “Mr Kanu continues to broadcast online from his base in some western cities and continues to issue series of instructions to his militia and other members of the outlawed organisation, on acts of violence to be carried out within the territory of Nigeria.” Equally, the source noted that “members of the outlawed organisation, in furtherance to these instructions, intensified their attacks on the specified targets. ” This has now become the pattern of its operations – Nnamdi Kanu issues instructions (from some city in the western world) and members of the outlawed organisation carry out these instructions in Nigeria. “For example, a day after Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has confirmed to newsmen that Nnamdi Kanu has ordered members of the group to kill him and other South-East Governors, which orders were repeated on Radio Biafra, the private residence of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, in his hometown in Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, was attacked and set ablaze and two of the security men attached to the house were killed,” the source said. The Federal Government communication further declared that “ Nnamdi Kanu is intentionally seeking to manipulate the international community by pretending to be agitating for secession, while actively working towards destabilisation of the Nigerian nation through violence.” The source further pointed out that “on 22nd April 2021, Nnamdi Kanu called on his militia and other members of IPOB to shut down all democratic processes in Anambra State; and capture, kill and decapitate all those he described as ‘monkeys.’” According to the source, “a major lesson which can be learnt from history is that it is important to nip the activities of violent militia and terrorist groups in the bud. ” It added that “it is also noteworthy that a profit-driven private entity like Facebook has blocked Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, out of its platform for violating its rules on harm and hate speech. “It should be stated categorically that the Government of Nigeria should use every opportunity to record its strong objection to the falsehood and mischaracterisation of conditions in Nigeria, which sought to justify the violent acts of IPOB under the guise of fight against regional marginalisation.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/06/how-western-nations-ignored-what-fg-told-them-about-ipob-nnamdi-kanu-before-twitter-face-off-official/? |
"Nothing in this planet gives me joy than seeing these slaves and their coward empty-headed master, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wriggling in pain like an earthworm drowned in a sea of salt. We'll continue eating from the almighty oil money, our brothers will continue being ministers in juicy ministries. If it pains you too much, it is rainy season, wait till it's raining cats and dogs, hurry to your street's transformer and hug it before the light is interrupted. Call us illiterates or whatever it does not concern us. You cannot use propaganda and threats to scare us . That's lowly of you. If you really want Biafra then the constitution will be amended soon. Why are your senators saying nothing about the inclusion of referendum in the new constitution ? We won't know that you people are ready for Biafra unless you stop registering and voting during Nigerian election ? We won't know that you are ready for Biafra unless you stop making propagandas of being marginalised in Nigeria. Shebi u get an independent country. The Almajiri and the Aboki you underrate are born to rule!. We will continue ruling you till eternity until you get some sense." https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=304900607947934&id=102540928183904 |
Can anyone mention any instance where security agencies have arrested & prosecute any killer Fulani herdsmen. The Defence Minister, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd) said "Don’t be a coward, defend yourself against bandits". Also TY Danjuma also said "defend yourselves or you will all die" This what ESN is doing in SE/SS and the main reason why they despise & throw all manners of tantrum & venom against ESN. The security agencies provide cover & protection for Fulani herdsmen, the earlier they know this the better for them. |

Prosecutor for the disbanded Okoi Obono-Obla’s Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), Mr Tosin Ojaomo has disclosed that the panel prior to its doslution, uncovered an account with about $60 billion, belonging to Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), domiciled in Texas, U.S. He made the disclosure Wednesday while making submissions before the House of Representatives’ Ad hoc committee on assessment and status of all recovered loots, movable and immovable assets from 2002 to 2020 by agencies of the federal government. According to him, the panel in similar vein discovered a Polaris Bank account in which $223 million “was kept under the guise of NNPC,s operations account”, which had no link with federal government’s introduced Treasury Single Account (TSA). The Prosecutor told the committee that it was when the panel was set to beam its searchlights into issues surrounding the Texas Bank account, that its chairman, Mr. Obono-Obla was controversially removed, and the team disbanded, pointing out that the matter was subsequently taken over by Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami. Briefing the lawmakers on some of the successes recorded by the panel, Ojaomo recalled that the sums of N523 million and Seven million naira were separately recovered for NEXIM Bank, N24 million from the National Theartre, and 86 luxury vehicles, 20 of which were bullet proof from a director in a ministry he declined to name. Also, he disclosed that efforts of the panel to unravel a reported withdrawal of N10 billion by Auditor General of the Federation, from account of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was frustrated, while the panel successfully exposed the indebtedness of oil royalties to the tune of $1.9 billion by Exxon Mobil, but paid only $600 million to Nigeria Also in his submission, Managing Director of the Nigeria Sovereign Wealth Fund, Mr. Uche Orji told the committee that the agency has recovered $311 million from the government of the United States, £4.2 million from the UK, and €5.5 million from Ireland, stressing that he was not aware if the later two had entered Nigeria. To get clarification on the development, Chairman of the committee, Hon. Adejoro Adeogun in his ruling directed the secretariat to invite Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, Accountant General of the Federation, as well the MD himself for another meeting slated for 2pm today(Thursday). https://www.blueprint.ng/disbanded-obono-obla-panel-uncovered-nnpcs-60bn-us-account-prosecutor/ |
Violence an attempt to weaken region ahead of 2023, says IPAC Former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Lai Olurode, has said the court ruling that produced Governor Hope Uzodinma and agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were likely reasons for the recent attacks on the commission’s offices. Olurode said the perception that elections do not always reflect the will of the people in the country was another factor that should not be ignored. He pointed out that argument in some quarters that INEC’s facilities across the country were not well fortified did not hold water, as hoodlums had also attacked other critical assets including police stations. His words: “Most of the attacks in Imo State was caused by the ill-fated election. It was more of judicial victory, because the election in which someone, who lacked the formidable electoral strength became governor. “Another reason is the activities of IPOB members, who are against the conduct of elections in the region. But I also think that the argument would only carry weight if there have not been attacks prior to the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the court. “Elections in Nigeria under Prof. Attahiru Jega and its present Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu might not completely approximate their wishes, but to say that the elections did not totally reflect the wishes of the people and their political links, maybe misgivings”. On the implications for the 2023 general election, he said setting ablaze INEC facilities would not change the country’s political mood, especially for the agitators, adding that it would not also stop the elections from holding. On his part, National Chairman, Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Leonard Nzenwa, said the onslaught on INEC facilities in the South East was an attempt to weaken the region ahead of the 2023 election. Nzenwa, who disclosed that IPAC had alerted the nation in March this year on plots to attack the electoral institutions, lamented that the security agencies did not act on the intelligence they received. “The burning of INEC facilities is barbaric and anti-people. It is a direct assault on people with intent to scare them from discharging their civic obligations, particularly for upcoming Anambra election,” he stressed. https://m.guardian.ng/politics/uzodimmas-emergence-in-imo-ipob-agitation-responsible-for-attacks-on-inec/amp/

“There is something called national mood,” says a Facebook user who felt unhappy with the PDP rally in Rivers. In contrast with the mournful mood of the nation, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Saturday held a political rally in Port Harcourt to receive some prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who defected from the party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mr Wike’s political rally coincided with the day and the exact hours Nigeria was holding a burial at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja, for the country’s Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, and six other senior officers who died in a plane crash on Friday. The Port Harcourt rally was briefly broadcast live by Channels Television before the station quickly switched over to the live broadcast of the burial at about 3:30 p.m. The political rally continued, nonetheless. The jubilant crowd danced to drumming and loud music. They sang the state’s PDP victory song “Stand up for Jesus!” The PDP Chairman in Rivers, Desmond Akawor, told Mr Wike and the crowd that the rally was “the final burial” for the APC in the oil-rich state. “Today, the pillars of that party (APC), those who left during the hard times, who thought they would have seen greener pastures, they have toiled day and night and they have discovered that there is no other better place than home, and they have decided to come back home (the PDP) today,” Mr Akawor said before receiving the defectors. One of the defectors said he went to the APC on “loan” to “save a sinking ship”, while another said that the APC has been destroyed in Rivers because of the “insincerity” of the party leaders. Governor Wike said at the rally that the PDP would continue to win elections in Rivers. Insensitive? Several Nigerians believe the Port Harcourt rally was a display of insensitivity to the national mourning mood. “There is something called national mood,” a Facebook user said of the rally. “What is so special about Wike hosting APC decampees today that can’t wait till another day?” PREMIUM TIMES could not immediately get a comment from the Rivers State government, as the Commissioner for Information in the state, Paulinus Nsirim did not respond to calls from the newspaper. ‘Officers’ death colossal loss to Nigeria’ – Wike Governor Wike, in a statement earlier on Saturday, however, described the death of Mr Attahiru and other officers as a “colossal loss” to Nigeria. “It is with profound sadness that I convey the deepest condolences of the Government and people of Rivers State to the Nigerian Armed Forces and bereaved families of Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and other military personnel on board the ill-fated aircraft. “We feel deeply saddened by the colossal loss of these patriotic and thoroughbred officers who sacrificed their lives to make our nation safe. Our thoughts are with the Nigerian Armed Forces and affected families in this hour of grief,” the governor said in the statement from his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri. Mr Wike’s party, the PDP has described the late officers as “heroes who gave their lives for the security of our nation”. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/463193-wike-holds-political-rally-while-nigeria-mourns-late-military-chief-others.html

Oby Ezekwesili: “Chibok girls kidnap” was planned to tarnish Jonathan’s image for Buhari to win. Public Analyst/Senior Economic, and former Minister who hailed from Anambra State, Obiageli Ezekwesili wrote, I was doing “Bring Back Our Girls” Project with Hadiza Usman Bala in 2014. I didn’t know she was sent to the project by Fulani leaders to tarnish the image of Goodluck Jonathan for Muhammadu Buhari to win an election. Immediately after the election, she left the project and was given appointments as MD Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). Now I believe that “Chibok Girls Kidnapping” was planned to tarnish Goodluck Jonathan’s image for Muhammadu Buhari to win election. https://dailytimes.ng/oby-ezekwesili-chibok-girls-kidnap-was-planned-to-tarnish-jonathans-image-for-buhari-to-win/ |

The Southern Senators’ Forum says killer herdsmen who turned to banditry are terrorising Nigerians and commended steps taken by southern governors to stem the rising insecurity. The forum disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement by its Chairman, Secretary-General and Publicity Secretary, Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti), Matthew Uroghide (PDP-Edo), and Chukwuka Utazi (PDP-Enugu). The forum lauded the governors for taking a firm position on burning national issues, including banning the open grazing of cattle. The senators said the unanimous policy would check those hiding under cattle grazing to unleash terror on the region through kidnapping and killing. At a meeting in Asaba on Tuesday, the governors unanimously passed a resolution prohibiting open grazing in the region, among other positions. The senators said the step would help secure the region and return it to the path of peace but lamented how farmers in the region lost millions of naira to the plundering of food crops to herders’ encroachments on farmlands. The forum stated, “At this critical point of our national life when the economy is bedevilled by galloping inflation, youth unemployment, and insecurity, food security is very crucial to mitigate the effects of these diverse evils on the citizens.” It further noted that “available records have shown that attaining food security status would remain a mirage in the South” due to the “ravaging effect of outdated livestock grazing policy being unleashed on farmlands by some unscrupulous herders.” The senators added, “Most appalling is the seemingly unabated kidnapping, raping and killing of our people by suspected herdsmen, who have become bandits heating up the system. “With this uniform resolve by our governors to initiate no-open grazing policy, the region will return to its peaceful and agriculturally self-sufficient status it had assumed even long before Nigeria’s amalgamation in 1914.” https://gazettengr.com/herdsmen-turned-bandits-terrorising-nigerians-southern-senators/? |
Recently, just a few years ago, Ogbakor Ikwerre wrote Bini Kingdom a letter seeking to identify with them as to establish an acclaimed Bini ancestry but in response, Bini Kingdom stated that there was no available evidence that Bini has anything to do with Ikwerre ancestrally. This fact is on record but just to state that we must be careful as a people not to allow the quest by some for political correctness cast us into the bottomless pit. Nobody has said, and I did not say Ikwerre is Igbo, but it is doubtless that Ikwerre as a multi ancestral ethnic block has most of its ancestry traced to Igbo. All the crap that Igbo hates Ikwerre is just a post civil war narrative and script and has never worked for us. Do you know what is called carbon dating, anthropology, archaeological investigation or DNA of a people? It is there for us to apply further beyond rabblerousing. By the way, assuming without conceding, let us look at it, what Bini documents have you studied or can anyone reference that has Ikwerre or Iwhuoroha as you call it as validating the purported Ikwerre-Bini origin? What is Bini about Ikwerre? Are you aware that Bini people have denied any link with Ikwerre on record? Ironically, Elele people are in court in Benin claiming that they own Bini and not the other way round. They claim strongly that they were in the land of Bini as owners before the arrival of Bini people in history. It will be an interesting legal engagement. Are you also aware that there are lots of Ikwerre prominent families that have traced their ancestry to Ngwa, Arum, etc in Igbo land? Are you Aware that Ohaji in Imo state is an Ikwerre clan which Prof. Otinti affirmed in his book History of Ikwerre People Volume 1? Do you know about Ikwerre-Ede in Imo State?? When you struggle to assert an erroneous Bini ancestry or kill the Igbo roots, you raise the flawed argument of abandoned property yet for the records: 1. Sir Jackson Mpi, first and last Ikwerre to be conferred with Knight of the Order of British Empire, OBE, by Queen Elizabeth II of England in 1960, identified himself as Igbo. From the ancient Kingdom of Isiokpo, Sir Mpi worked tirelessly for Igbo advancement. 2. Dr Obi Wali was the first Ikwerre PhD holder, senator and university lecturer. He was also the only Ikwerre in the 1978 Constituent Assembly where he was selected as one of the 50 Wise Men that drafted the 1979 constitution. The great Dr Wali identified fully with his Igbo heritage and was gruesomely assassinated defending it. 3. Okogbule Wonodi, first Ikwerre registrar of any university, first and only Ikwerre poet and Paramount title Holder of Eze Ohiaemeru.Ohiaemeru, where you have present-day Comprehensive College in Borokiri, was his ancestral home before the British vacated them between 1913-1923. Wonodi remained a respected member of Nzukor Igbo and Ohanaeze Ndigbo till the end of his life. 4. Patriot Emmanuel Aguma was former Mayor of Port Harcourt. As Principal of St John College, Diobu, he was the first Ikwerre to head any college. One of six pre-independence Ikwerre University graduates, former administrator of Port Harcourt Province in the defunct Peoples Republic of Biafra, first Ikwere minister in 1979, Aguma remained a member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. 5. Emmanuel Oriji was a respected local government administrator, traditional ruler, a commissioner in old Rivers and core Igbo nationalist. The immediate past Deputy Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Isaac Wonwu, is an illustrious Ikwerre son from Elele. He is known to assert his Igbo identity. Equally valid, Chief Jackson Womenazu from Rumukurushi in the Evo Kingdom is a member of the Elders’ Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. 6. In colonial documents, written when Igbos had no capacity to influence anything, Ikwerres also defined themselves as having Igbo ancestry. When Ikwerre leaders presented their case before the 1957 Sir Henry Willinks Commission, Wobo declared that Ikwerres were Igbos and Port Harcourt to Onitsha was Igbo land. The cream of Ikwerreland have asserted their Igboness. Most illustrious sons and daughters. Tell me any Ikwerre whose CV can match those of Mpi, Wobo, Aguma, Wonodi, Dr Wali etc? Even the Ijaws that are not Igbos in any way worked closely with our Igbo counterparts. Amanyagbor of Kalabari was Adviser to Ojukwu on Political Matters. The great S.P.U Ogan was Adviser on Traditional Matters. Sylvanus Cookey former VC of Uniport was in the Cabinet office of Ojukwu. He and Arthur Mbanefo were the only person in that office. This is why the likes of Alhaji Asari Dokubo have made frantic moves to establish their alliance with Ndi Igbo and the Biafra question. Need I talk about the strong structure of the ogoni block which has been enviably internationalised?? This is despite the fact that Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Ikwerre land has more crude oil than the whole of Ogoni land. This is the record as verified in the NNPC. Where are we actually, what is the definition of our identity? What is our stake in the Nigerian project and what are our demands?? Is this how we want Ikwerre to die? By playing "be careful?" Untill Ikwerre does the needful to strongly establish its alliance with her strong neighbours without prejudice, we are nearing extinction in many ways, because of the abuse and misery contributorily brought upon us by our own political elites, who have used our strength to trade their selfish political interests, without empowering our people economically for the future. Ikwerre is one of the highest oil-rich ethnic nationalities, and contributes among the highest barrels daily and in revenue to the federation, account yet attempts have been made to suppress this fact, and our own politicians curiously conspire to kill this basic advantage which should be one of our negotiating tools, just because it is not in their selfish interest as they think. To them, no other Ikwerre sons or daughters must be millionaires or billionaires but come cap in hand to them. Shame! Let me ask a simple question, if anarchy or war breaks out today, or this disputed Nigeria tears apart, where will Ikwerre be in the equation? Major ethnic blocks are busy forming cohesion and synergy for the future while we are still fighting identity crisis. We should better wake up and face reality. Anyone can chose to get primordial about these realities but we can not run away and expect to thrive by taking the back seats in almost everything. © LIVINGSTONE WECHIE Is Ikwerre, a native of Nkpolu Oroworukwo Community, Rebisi, in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State. He is the Convener of IKWERRE PEOPLE'S CONGRESS (IPC) and the Executive Director, THE INTEGRITY FRIENDS FOR TRUTH AND PEACE INITIATIVE (TIFPI) He is a Lawyer, Human Rights Activist and Researcher.

Over the weekend, respected columnist & ex-Editorial Board chairman of Guardian newspaper, Sonala Olumhense confirmed a story that was making the rounds in Washington DC newsrooms all of last week. It was that the US President Joe Biden and his Vice, Kamala Harris were avoiding a zoom meeting with Nigeria’s President Buhari; and that the Biden Administration had little interest in series of requests for help by Buhari to deal with growing insecurity & loss of lives and property in Nigeria. In the words of Olumhense; "Buhari could not get a meeting with Vice-President Kamala Harris, let alone Mr. Biden. He could not speak with either official even by telephone, although both had in March spoken to the leaders of Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa. The talk in Washington is that Buhari had become dispensable, inconspicuous and irrelevant, because of his policies at home and abroad. And of course, Buhari sent to Washington DC for five years a man (Sylvanus Nsofor) who was so old it was unclear he knew where he was, let alone why he was there”. This was why we all saw Buhari in a zoom meeting last week with US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken (an insult in itself as Blinken isn’t US president) pleading with the US to relocate the AFRICOMM (US-African Command) from its base in Stuttgart, Germany to Nigeria. Blinken made the right, diplomatic noises and massaged Buhari’s ego but it was a firm “No”. USA is pulling-back from overseas military adventures and just last month, Biden announced that he was ending USA’s over-20 years involvement in Afghanistan, calling it the “endless war”. That pull-out has started on May 1. So, an appeal from Buhari to America to send its troops to another endless arm-wrestle with Boko Haram & other faceless groups mushrooming allover Nigeria is something America has no appetite for. Equally, the Biden administration know too well that the Buhari govt has never demonstrated commitment to the task, or competence in dealing with terrorism. Buhari hardly reads the papers he signs, and never took human rights seriously. They also know too well he has nurtured corruption and nepotism at home; cosied-up to renegade, tribal & ethnic interests while somehow hoping that everyone around the world was also deceived. But everyone saw in the past couple of months for instance, when he finally changed his service chiefs and moved swiftly to protect them from being indicted for war crimes by converting them into “ambassadors.” Also last week, the Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI), which ranks countries according to government capabilities and outcomes, placed Nigeria as the third-worst in the world, ahead only of Zimbabwe and Venezuela! Sadly for Buhari, the crude oil that for so many decades has sweetened the relationship between various, corrupt Nigerian governments and the Western world, is suddenly not in demand anymore. Most Western countries are either abandoning fossil fuels altogether and transiting to electric or wind power which are mainstays of clean, environment-friendly energy. Holed-up in his sprawling Abuja palace and disconnected from the reality of his imploding country, the man Buhari is looking increasingly like an emperor without clothes. Surrounded by sychopants, he has developed selective hearing and eyesight, as the body count in the country of almost 200m people averages 350 people killed, maimed, bludgeoned and kidnapped from their homes on a daily basis. America knows too well that Buhari’s cry for help is actually not for his country, but for himself, cronies & family; as the evil cocktail of Fulani herdsmen/bandits, pocket-terrorists and Islamic zealots they helped nurture since 2015, have now grown to become a genie which cannot be put back in the bottle and is instead about to swallow him up. America knows Buhari has little consideration for the country he was elected to lead. Except to turn in into a caliphate of sorts. https://mobile.twitter.com/RealOlaudah/status/1391091377841315848 |
EXPOSED: Nigerian Army Shuns Southern Officers, Deploys Northern Commanders To Quell Tension In South-East. The army posted Muslim and non-Igbo personnel as commanders over its operations and brigades in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Benue, Edo, Delta and Rivers. The Nigerian Army’s deployment of northern officers for its operations in the South-East region is contributing to the tension in the region, according to several military sources who spoke to SaharaReporters. Checks by SaharaReporters confirmed that the army posted Muslim and non-Igbo personnel as commanders over its operations and brigades in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Benue, Edo, Delta and Rivers. The commanders are mainly from the north, while a few are from the South-West. In Anambra State, the Cantonment Commandant of the 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, is Col Abdulsalam Abubakar Sambo, a Hausa-Fulani Muslim, while in Imo State, the Brigade Commander of 34 Brigade, Obinze, is Brig Gen Ibrahim Tukura, another northerner. In Abia State, the Brigade Commander of 14 Brigade, Ohafia, is Brig Gen M. Ibrahim, still, a northerner while in Akwa Ibom State, the Brigade Commander of 2 Brigade, Uyo, is Brig Gen Faruk Mijinyawa, another northerner. The 82 division headquartered in Enugu State, which oversees the South-East brigades, is headed by Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja, a Muslim South-Westerner General Officer Commanding, who assumed office only in March. He took over from Maj Gen Lasisi Adegboye, the former GOC, another Muslim South-Westerner. Up to the Middle Belt states, the army observably kept out South-East officers to hold any key position. In adjoining Benue State, the Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, which takes care of some of the Middle Belt states, is Maj Gen Yekini Adeyemi, also a South-West Muslim, while the Commander of 401 Special Forces Brigade, Makurdi, is Brig Gen Samai’la Mohammed Uba. The Commanding Officer of the 72 Special Forces Battalion, Makurdi, as of January 2021, is Lt Col A.D. Alhassan, another northerner. The situation is not different in Edo State, where the Brigade Commander of 4 Brigade, Benin, is Brigadier Gen M.A Sadiq and in Delta, the Brigade Commander of 63 Brigade; Asaba is Brig Gen A Idris, another Muslim northerner. In Rivers State, the General Officer Commanding of the 6 Division, which oversees the South-South states, is Maj Gen Sambo G Mohammed, another Muslim northerner. “It is sad that the Nigerian Army, though it refuses to confess it, has a body language of ethnic and religious domination for the southern states. The operations and brigades are led by officers who are estranged to the region; cannot relate to the needs and aspirations of the states and seemed to be brought to enforce subjugation,” military personnel lamented. “Yes, the army is the face of Nigeria’s unity, but it is obvious that the army does not believe in Christian, southern officers to hold the key positions, most especially in the troubled states. And this is why the frictions continue. Sometimes, you need non-kinetic measures to solve separatist agenda and agitations and not the guns and bullets. You need well refined and diplomatic officers from their region to speak to agitators in such regions. This strategy, the military, is conspicuously lacking,” another military source stated. A civil group, The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, while commenting on the development in the South-East, condemned the skewed postings which favour the north. The Intersociety Chairman, Emeka Umeagbalasi, said, “The takeover and control of crucial army formations in the Christian part of the country by these Muslim officers are found to be a deliberate policy of the present government. “This has been majorly responsible for disproportionate security and safety of the affected Christian civilian population and their properties, thereby putting them not only in danger but also exposing them to attacks by Jihadist herdsmen.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/05/08/exposed-nigerian-army-shuns-southern-officers-deploys-northern-commanders-quell-tension |

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said the issues of marginalisation and inequality raised by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, are valid. The governor, however, faulted the strategy being employed by IPOB, advising the secessionist group to explore dialogue and a peaceful ways to seek redress. Ikpeazu, who stated this during a visit to the Osasu Igbinedion pan-African television studio in Abuja on Thursday night, said IPOB had placed all the governors of the South-East under fatwa (death sentence). He said, “People are beginning to think now that some of the issues raised by Nnamdi (Kanu) are, if they were issues of injustice, marginalisation and inequality, any part of society has a right to begin to feel cheated or unwanted. “So, some of those things which Nnamdi said are valid. Some of us can see it. We cannot continue to hide behind a finger. But some of us do not subscribe to his style or strategy, because I do not understand where he is going and how he is going and when he plans to pull the break (-up) and what he wants to achieve. “If I have a way of conveying my views to the leadership of that group, what I will say is that they should find a way to enter into conversation and let people know. “I am under their fatwa now and some of my brother governors. They say, ‘If you see them, kill them.’” The governor cautioned IPOB against instigating a civil war in the country, hinting that violence would not favour anyone. “They are fighting in the kitchen; by the time the war in the kitchen ends, mama’s pot of soup would have spilled, there will be no plate to eat and everybody would be hungry and eventually it would not serve any good purpose. I don’t understand their strategy,” he added. Ikpeazu said the insecurity in the country should be addressed holistically, stressing the need for a change of strategy in the prosecution of the war against insurgents and bandits. Igbinedion, in her remarks earlier, lauded the governor for empowering women and youths. https://punchng.com/ipob-already-sentenced-seast-govs-to-death-ikpeazu/?

A judge shocked his court when he angrily told a Fulani man who had entered his court with his hat on that Ghana could still invoke the Aliens Compliance Order (Act 1969). He said the activation of the law which is still part of Ghana’s jurisprudence, will expel immigrants whose activities threaten the economic survival of the country. Order of 1969 is still part of our laws, if any government can invoke it then we will sack all aliens and free this our nation…they are pushing us to the wall,” he said. The judge, Amadu Issifu, added: “…the armed robbers….as for them it won’t take time, we will amend our laws and accord police to shoot on sight so that we will reduce their numbers.” He made the comments in open court on Thursday at the Nalerigu District Court where he was acting as the judge as the substantive magistrate is on leave. The judge was hearing a chieftaincy litigation suit involving the paramount chief of Chereponi when the man believed to be of Fulani extraction entered the court with his hat on. The man entered and went straight to sit at the gallery of the courtroom without removing his hat. The judge took notice of the breach and quickly paused and turned his attention to him. the judge addressed the man through an interpreter. “Because ignorance of the law is no excuse…When you go to remand for one week, you would learn from detention. So whoever is coming here should be very careful,” he added. The Aliens Compliance Order of November 18, 1969, was a Busia government intervention policy that aimed at controlling the immigrant population and restricting the exercise of certain activities by non-nationals. The Order affected close to 200,000 aliens from Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso and Mali. https://www.adomonline.com/well-invoke-aliens-compliance-order-to-free-ghana-angry-judge-to-fulani-man/ |

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has accused the federal government of complicity with terrorists who are making the country's insecurity situation worse. He was speaking in a video that was posted on twitter by Channels Television a little over and hour ago. The Insecurity situations in the country has become worse in recent times with many crimes being being committed by terrorists organisations like Boko Haram, ISIS and ISWAP. A few weeks ago, there were a lot of unrest because of the activities of some herdsmen in clashes with host communities. That has led Governor Ortom to believe that they are no different from the other groups. According to him, the actions and inactions of the federal government suggests complicity with the criminal activities. He also suggested that Fulani Herdsmen, BokoHaram, ISWAP and ISIS are all working towards the same goal in Nigeria. He questioned why some of them are being referred to as Bandits despite all they have done. According to Ortom, he believes they have the same motive because of their activities. The governor said: As far as I am concerned, Fulani Herdsmen Boko-Haram, ISIS, And ISWAP are all working towards the same goal in Nigeria. Let no body deceive me. He also criticized the government for failing to proscribe these groups as terrorist groups. He spoke about the proscribing of IPOB by the government as terrorists when the same had not been done to the groups he mentioned. According ot the governor, they have been working to make sure that these people are proscribed just like IPOB but the federal government has yet to do that. What are your thoughts on Governor Samuel Ortom's statement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcRNGr94lUQ

Yourba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has vowed that there would be no general elections in 2023 unless the 1999 constitution is scrapped and a new one which includes fiscal federalism is agreed on by Nigerians. Speaking on Arise TV programme, leader of the organisation, Ayo Adebanjo, said the 1999 constitution is skewed to favour a section of the country and was responsible for the agitations for secession by some separatist groups in southern Nigeria. He said the constitution was written by the military and not what the founding fathers of the country agreed to at independence. He said unless it is scrapped, the country would not make any form of progress. He described President Muhammadu Buhari as a civilian dictator who is not interested in listening to the voice of the people and at the same time has not presented a credible alternative to the problems bedeviling the country. “What we have is a fraudulent constitution. It is not the constitution the founding fathers of the country agreed to at independence. This 1960 constitution guaranteed us resource control, state police and all the agitation causing crises in the country today was settled in the former constitution. “The problem Nigeria has is the 1999 constitution that skewed everything against the South. It is a fraudulent and unacceptable constitution because it was not made by the people, it was made by the military and this assertion was repeated by the late Rotimi Williams. It is a Sovereign National Conference we are asking for, which was attempted in 2014, but Buhari has refused to do and that is causing the problems we are having in the country. That is why some people who feel cheated say they want to get out of Nigeria. “We are not going to do another election or be in this country where a section of the country would dictate who the president of the country would be. That is why we don’t believe in any election now until the 1999 constitution is scrapped and a new one is agreed to with the principle of federalism strictly observed. We are not interested in any election because any election is a diversion with all the confusion in the country. Our security, economy, education and everything is bad. We don’t believe in having any election until the question of the country is settled. How can an elected president say that he would not listen to what the people are saying and that he must continue with a constitution we say we don’t want? That is why I said we are living under a civilian dictatorship,” Adebanjo said. He said when former military head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, was handing over in 1999, he assured the civil society that they could change the constitution as they deem fit. “When the military said they were going back to the barracks in 1999, Afenifere and NADECO told the military to take us back to the constitution that they met on ground and that is the crux of the matter. We didn’t want to take part in the election of 1999 until we have a sovereign national conference to agree to kind of constitution we have. It was former military head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, who persuaded the Alliance for Democracy (AD) that a civilian government can change the constitution because he is in a hurry to leave and does not have time to waste. All the attempts to change the constitution has not been responded to by the government of the day. We were asking for a sovereign national conference to agree on how we are going to live together in peace if you are not returning us back to the constitution of 1960. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo told us that there cannot be two sovereignties and I explained emphatically that we are not talking about the sovereignty of the incumbent president, we are talking about the sovereignty of the conference that agreed on the way we are going to live together. “Under former President Goodluck Jonathan, he gave us something acceptable and that is the national conference of 2014 which embodies everything that we are agitating for which is identical to what we had at independence. When Jonathan was handing over to Buhari, he told him that the recommendations from that conference is the most important document that he is handing over to him and Buhari said he would put in the archives and that is why we are in trouble,” Adebanjo said https://www.sunnewsonline.com/therell-be-no-elections-in-2023-unless-1999-constitution-is-scrapped-afenifere/ |
