Business / Re: New Celtel Advert by Maneater1(f): 10:59am On Mar 26, 2007
There are alot of ads that are not shot in nigeria.

cocacola, fanta, always, bank phb, omo, and several others.

Most times its becos we dont have the right cameras and eqipment here in nigeria, as u can tell the quality is much better than most locally produced ads.

And a company like celtel is present in several african countries and they all view the same commercial. If its done in nigeria nxt, it will also be seen in other african countries.

During my uni days i did a bit of modelling and for the coke and fanta billboards, models were flown to south afrca to shoot.
Family / Re: Pregnancy Before Marriage by Maneater1(f): 3:51pm On Mar 22, 2007
There's nothing beautiful or sexy about a pregnant bride. Its bad enuf ur not virgin on ur wedding night then u go to the altar in God's house with the product of ur fornication? sacriledge!!

A girl in my uni got pregnant for her american boyfriend, he promised to marry her, but his family didnt really like her much. Now she's a single mother with a 4 year old son.

Do i have to say no man will even look at her. They dont need girls with baggage. It wont kill u to wait, and i u getting married out of love or just to procreate. Why the need to test if ur plumbing is working.

I keep preaching -marry out of love. i wouldnt love my husband any less if he cud noitgive me a baby, and i dont think a man should not love his wife because she mite be barren. You could always adopt.

Marry for love and not for children. It is God that gives. and dont feel free to rub it in his face that u are fornicationg and desecrate ur matrimonial bed.
Health / Re: Genotype AS and AS: Can We Get Married? by Maneater1(f): 2:48pm On Mar 22, 2007
A very close friend of mine is SS and the irony is both her parents have medical backgrounds, so u wud think they wud have known better.

U dont have to have a medical qualification to know that AS and AS should not risk getting married as they could have an SS child.

I've kjnown this SS friend of mine for almost 10 yrs now and i remeber our school days when she wud have her crisis. u cud almost curse her parents for bringing her into this world to got thru so much pain.

if u see the pain and suffering they go thru and watch someone u love go thru it, and also live with the fear that any of their episodes cud claim their lives, you wud not think twice.

I dont want to ever think of losing my friend to the cold hands of death because of her genotype and her parents ignorance.

Be wise!!

U will also save each other alot of pain as it is no joke in her house whenevr she is sick, each crisis she has affects her entire family.

you are not attracted to the second one

and you've never actually met the third one.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

i say dont let desperation and pressure drive you to make a life long mistake, unless you dont mind getting divorced eventually.

You have not said that u love any. i say God will bring ur husband to you, but never make the mistake of marrying anyone you do not love/ anyone you would not readily give your left eye for.

material things come and go, but true happiness lasts forever.

I support Fire girl. she doesnt need to put all her bizness on nairaland. she's the one wearing the shoe and knows where it hurts.

I think fire girl has made a very wise decision. i know what it feels like to have someone u care about go from Dr jekyll to Mr Hyde. I just wish that they can be man enuff to say it. I'm a very straight forward person and i expect the same from whoever i'm with. If one is not interested in a rel again say so insttead of wasting each others time and the emotional torment.

@ Fire girl, he doesnt deserve u and has alot of growing up to do if he's counting all he has done for you. Since he has decided to ignore you, i encourage you to do the same. you dont have to tell him s h it.

delete his number to stop urself from being tempted to call him and when he notices you're absence and ever calls you tell him u cant talkj right now cos ur with ur new boyfriend. that will give him a rude awakening. he has no right to toy with ur feelings like that.

if u ever need tips on getting over and ignoring silly guys like him, i'll be too glad to help out. i've got a PHd in Male Emotional torment grin grin grin

i do both. God commandede us in the bible, (somewhere in corithians) that it is compulsory to pay ur tithe.

And those who give to the poor and fatherless, have the blessings of the lord. It wont kill u to give God a mere 10% of your earnings and it wont kill you to be compassionate and help the less priviledged.

Give and it will come back to you.

Romance / Re: What Will You Do If You Find Out Your Boyfriend Is Cheating On You by Maneater1(f): 12:38pm On Mar 21, 2007
Since most guys have penis brains, u cant blame them all the time. i would find out if he likes the girl. Sometimes its just all about lust, they see a big arse and they want to hit it. After its over they are back to normal. If thats the case when they do it once, they can be forgiven. But with a little punishment, make sure they regret their actions and come crawling back.

Butt , if he shows affection towards the girl, thats the ultimate betrayal. he actually has feeling for her and u know its hopeless cos u cant force a man to love u. So just move on, break up with him, show him he really hurt ur feelings, by scratching his range rover vogue sport and poisoning his beloved doggg!!! angry

then ur even. Hit him where it hurts!!! grin
Romance / Re: Who Is More Reliable: Western Women Or African Women ? by Maneater1(f): 12:27pm On Mar 21, 2007
I personally think that african women are a bit restricted and controlled by society, traditions, culture anmd family.

whatever you think Nigerian ladies do on campus, the western ladies do times 20 in their place becos of their lack of culture and very free moral ethics. over there u can see a girl of 16 already has an apartment is living on her own, men coming over any how, she's having wild party nights, having orgies, has a lesbian girlfriend plus her 50 yr old rich man friend and is also addicted to coke and several other drugs.

african ladies know hwere to draw the line, so they follow married men and maybe sleep around a bit, atleast u know thats all u have to worry about and not if she's suicidal.
thats why they always have divorces, break downs and even go mad. are'nt all the rehab homes there full of them.

I just think, better the devil u know, atleast if a naija wife misbehaves u can report her to her poarents and no matter what they do, they know what they are doing is wrong. i think what scares me most about westerners is their non-chalant approach towards life and they are always looking for freedom, and a need to really express themselves.

Too much of everything is bad, even freedom.
i think and african woman any day has more morals and is more reliable than a white lady.

Sports / Re: Arrested During A Game Of Pool by Maneater1(f): 11:45am On Mar 20, 2007
During my Uni days i was once arrested along with about 10 other girls for going to a party. we left in a convoy of cars to attend a friends birthday party at victoria island and those police men at yaba stopped us and arrrested us (only the girls, they let the guys driving go). Our crime was we were not decently dressed (i.e we were dressed for a party) and we did take permission from the school authority to go to a party.

I cudnt beleieve my earrs when they said asked if we took permission to leave unilag to attend a party. they ended up extorting us big time. some girls were crying and talking about them raping us and no one would believe us. i'm sure the police made up to 20k from all of us that night.

After all the drama, we still went for the party. grin

Sista, i say you should walk. most girls have found themselves in similar circumstances. there nothing worse than a man not appreciating you. Learn that you can never force a man to like you and you know what they say about the whole "guy is the hunter and loves to go after his prey".

if you insist on staying, u two mite get together, get busy and it might be lovely for a while, but be ready to hit the road once his girlfriend comes back. Thats where his heart lies, you cant take it unless he gives it to you.

so if you dont mind just getting physical, then go ahead and pursue him, but if you know you'll get too emotionally attached then save yourself the heartbreak girl and Walk!!! cheesy

He wasnt willing to meet me half way in the relationship, he wanted me to change evrything about myself, but accept him the way he was (no compromise). our sex life was also a big bore, he was not as sexual as i was, we hardly used to cuddle or be together. And then the arguements started, it was a nightmare, i knew i could never spend the rest of my life with someone like him. it was almost perfect at first, but he changed.

Saul waited seven days, according to the set time Samuel had appointed.

But Samuel had not come to Gilgal, and the people were scattering from Saul

So Saul said, bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.

And he offered the burnt offering [which he was forbidden to do].

1 Sam 13:8-9

What do you do when you're under pressure?

When time seems to be slipping away

When it appears as though you must make a decision now,

or never

Would you like Saul just make a move___?

Any move even if it's not God centered

Or would you stand still and wait for His call and follow His instructions

Have you stopped to notice that some decisions seem threatening at the time?

It always appears as though you must move NOW,

But if you can stand still

Weigh it and then make a move

You'd hardly go wrong

And it really isnt about standing still alone,

But waiting to have Him say

MOVE,

Or

KEEP STANDING

Have you stopped to listen today?

Religion / Quote Of The Day 1 by Maneater1(f): 3:23pm On Mar 07, 2007
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others”

Religion / A Touching Story. by Maneater1(f): 5:36pm On Mar 06, 2007
I was touched by this mail.

TO MEET SUCH A MAN

I sat, with two friends, in the picture window of a quaint restaurant just off the corner of the town-square. The food and the company were both especially good that day.

As we talked, my attention was drawn outside, across the street. There, walking into town, was a man who appeared to be carrying all his worldly goods on his back. He was carrying, a well-worn sign that read, "I will work for food." My heart sank.

I brought him to the attention of my friends and noticed that others around us had stopped eating to focus on him. Heads moved in a mixture of sadness and disbelief.

We continued with our meal, but his image lingered in my mind. We finished our meal and went our separate ways. I had errands to do and quickly set out to accomplish them. I glanced toward the town square, looking somewhat halfheartedly for the strange visitor. I was fearful, knowing that seeing him again would call some response. I drove through town and saw nothing of him. I made some purchases at a store and got back in my car.

Deep within me, the Spirit of God kept speaking to me: "Don't go back to the office until you've at least driven once more around the square."

Then with some hesitancy, I headed back into town. As I turned the square's third corner, I saw him. He was standing on the steps of the store front church, going through his sack.

I stopped and looked; feeling both compelled to speak to him, yet wanting to drive on. The empty parking space on the corner seemed to be a sign from God: an invitation to park. I pulled in, got out and approached the town's newest visitor.

"Looking for the pastor?" I asked.

"Not really," he replied, "just resting."

"Have you eaten today?"

"Oh, I ate something early this morning."

"Would you like to have lunch with me?"

"Do you have some work I could do for you?"

"No work," I replied. "I commute here to work from the city, but I would like to take you to lunch."

"Sure," he replied with a smile.

As he began to gather his things, I asked some surface questions. Where you headed?"

"St. Louis."

"Where you from?"

"Oh, all over; mostly Florida."

"How long you been walking?"

"Fourteen years," came the reply.

I knew I had met someone unusual. We sat across from each other in the same restaurant I had left earlier. His face was weathered slightly beyond his 38 years. His eyes were dark yet clear, and he spoke with an eloquence and articulation that was startling. He removed his jacket to reveal a bright red T-shirt that said, "Jesus is The Never Ending Story."

Then Daniel's story began to unfold. He had seen rough times early in life. He'd made some wrong choices and reaped the consequences. Fourteen years earlier, while backpacking across the country, he had stopped on the beach in Daytona. He tried to hire on with some men who were putting up a large tent and some equipment. A concert, he thought.

He was hired, but the tent would not house a concert but revival services, and in those services he saw life more clearly. He gave his life over to God

"Nothing's been the same since," he said, "I felt the Lord telling me to keep walking, and so I did, some 14 years now."

"Ever think of stopping?" I asked.

"Oh, once in a while, when it seems to get the best of me But God has given me this calling. I give out Bibles. That's what's in my sack. I work to buy food and Bibles, and I give them out when His Spirit leads."

I sat amazed. My homeless friend was not homeless. He was on a mission and lived this way by choice. The question burned inside for a moment and then I asked: "What's it like?"

"What?"

"To walk into a town carrying all your things on your back and to show your sign?"

"Oh, it was humiliating at first. People would stare and make comments. Once someone tossed a piece of half-eaten bread and made a gesture that certainly didn't make me feel welcome. But then it became humbling to realize that God was using me to touch lives and change people's concepts of other folks like me."

My concept was changing, too. We finished our dessert and gathered his things. Just outside the door, he paused. He turned to me and said, "Come Ye blessed of my Father and inherit the kingdom I've prepared for you. For when I was hungry you gave me food, when I was thirsty you gave me drink, a stranger and you took me in."

I felt as if we were on holy ground. "Could you use another Bible?" I asked.

He said he preferred a certain translation. It traveled well and was not too heavy. It was also his personal favorite. "I've read through it 14 times," he said.

"I'm not sure we've got one of those, but let's stop by our church and see" I was able to find my new friend a Bible that would do well, and he seemed very grateful.

"Where are you headed from here?" I asked.

"Well, I found this little map on the back of this amusement park coupon."

"Are you hoping to hire on there for awhile?"

"No, I just figure I should go there. I figure someone under that star right there needs a Bible, so that's where I'm going next."

He smiled, and the warmth of his spirit radiated the sincerity of his mission. I drove him back to the town-square where we'd met two hours earlier, and as we drove, it started raining. We parked and unloaded his things.

" Would you sign my autograph book?" he asked. "I like to keep messages from folks I meet."

I wrote in his little book that his commitment to his calling had touched my life. I encouraged him to stay strong. And I left him with a verse of scripture from Jeremiah, "I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you; Plans to give you a future and a hope."

"Thanks, man," he said. "I know we just met and we're really just strangers, but I love you."

"I know," I said, "I love you, too." "The Lord is good!"

"Yes, He is. How long has it been since someone hugged you?" I asked.

"A long time," he replied

And so on the busy street corner in the drizzling rain, my new friend and I embraced, and I felt deep inside that I had been changed. He put his things on his back, smiled his winning smile and said, "See you in the New Jerusalem."

"I'll be there!" was my reply.

He began his journey again. He headed away with his sign dangling from his bedroll and pack of Bibles. He stopped, turned and said, "When you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?"

"You bet," I shouted back, "God bless."

"God bless." And that was the last I saw of him.

Late that evening as I left my office, the wind blew strong. The cold front had settled hard upon the town. I bundled up and hurried to my car. As I sat back and reached for the emergency brake, I saw them, a pair of well-worn brown work gloves neatly laid over the length of the handle. I picked them up and thought of my friend and wondered if his hands would stay warm that night without them.

Then I remembered his words: "If you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?"

Today his gloves lie on my desk in my office. They help me to see the world and its people in a new way, and they help me remember those two hours with my unique friend and to pray for his ministry. "See you in the New Jerusalem," he said. Yes, Daniel, I know I will,
