brother I understand you that's right. Well this thread is educative and we don't just stick to NTB ideas alone but we also compare and contrast. maybe cost of logistics = N20,000 (which should be lesser than that price) making a total of N100,000.
If we sell a PCs for N1000x4000 PCs = N4000000-N100,000(Capital) = 3900000 (Profit).

Bachel Model College's working condition is terrible. They pay there teachers as high as 24-26k & dey deduct compulsory tax of 2k frm ur salary above. Dere principals are paid btwn 28k-30k den u'l pay back 2k for tax.Same tin happens in all dere branches.Dey recruit every Term & Session

Sir, some schools do not care about competition, they are after profit and you working out your hearts out e.g. 39 periods in a week, when would I have time to write articles. I am not making excuses but this is the reality on ground. Some school management/Principal would tell you (teacher) that you want the student to disgrace the school. In that situtation, what do you suggest?

thanks so much for the words, but dont forget that am not a magician who will just wake one day and all these which you have just stated will come to pass just like dat.

To be sincere I have contributed to the development of the school, the entire staff and my lovely students, I love to help my student learn better.

Every friday I lecture the teachers on how to articulate English words perfectly. my students have their English clinic every monday morning on the assembly, I initiated it.

I would have love to write everything abt my contributions to the sch but I cant, if you want to know set up an interview for me, I will answer you.

I LOVE TEACHING, AM NOT TEACHING FOR THE MONEY BUT FOR THE LOVE I HAVE FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS.

I will like to switch to schools where I will be encouraged, assisted, and motivated to do one or two tins you have said here, thanks.

Since you have been teaching English or Yoruba, how many essay competitions, debates and quiz competition have you organised in your school? How many inter-school competitions have your students competed in.

How many essays or articles have your students contributed in teenagers magazines or children columns in the national dailies like Punch, Vangaurd etc.

How often have you written published articles on literacy, education, politic, economy etc in National dailies.

My brother when you do some of the things outlined here you will not be looking for high paying schools but rather schools will be competing to hire you.


A youngman who used to write articles in Punch and vanguard some few years ago, would write his name, e-mail address, profession and name of his school at the end of each article.

Eg, Johnson teaches Yoruba at Kerege High School Ifo Ogun State.

The last time I called the guy he is now working in the corporate affairs department of one of the quoted companies on NSE, his writings created visibility and opportunity for him.

You talked about creating value to the organization after employment, yes to be candid the management, the entire staff and my students from JSS 1-SS3 will miss me wen i resign from my position in the school, meaning that i have done something positive.

Am a man i want to leave my comfort zone as a great men on this forum do say, "LEAVE YOUR COMFORT ZONE". Thanks @ GOLDENDr. am still waiting for the list of schools dat pays beyond 25-35k in IGANDO pls. U are a great man like me

Nothing spoil! Tell them that having researched the average pay for schools in their category, you've come to realise that it is within the range of.....(Insert your desired salary). Emphasize your experience and ability to do the job well. Then listen and get ready to renegotiate.

At my 3rd teaching job, I taught Economics, Commerce, Business Studies, Basic Science and Civics, from JSS1 to SS3. And my pay was........wait for it........35k only! I can't even remember how many periods I was taking, I just know I never rested 8am to 4pm.
I believe he can handle it.

ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!!! I went for an interview today in a school as a Chemistry and maths/physics teacher and after a written test we went in one after the other for the oral interview.I felt i did well in the interview and at the end I was asked my desired pay.I asked them to pay me according to their pay structure but they insisted i name my price.I gave them a range of 40-50k and they put my minimum pay as 40k.The problem now is that am not satisfied with 40k as my pay cos after my calculations the left over after deduction of T fare and other miscellaneous is about 30K.I felt I should have raised the bar a little.I already have another school near where I live that will pay me 25k and I will be a little bit free to apply for other jobs and go for other interviews compared to the other school....WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Your assertion is actually misleading.
There is usually option to chose whether to take your interest yield upfront or on maturity, probably you've been using upfront as default, it doesn't make it the other option wrong.

The popular and controversial saying that 'what a man can do a woman can do better' is further proved as many Nigerian women have in recent times joined the tricycle business (popularly called "keke maruwa" in Lagos).

28 year old Deborah Sani is not just a female tricycle rider who plies the Ikeja-Toyin Street in Lagos, but also a trained teacher who obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in 2009 from the former Federal College of Education Zaria, now Federal University of Education, Zaria and also currently undergoing a Diploma Program at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

When asked what led her into the business, she said, "when you compare the income from this job and any other job I could have been doing right now because I'm a qualified teacher. Teaching job if they will pay you N20,000, they will think they are paying you so well. Even if they will pay you N30,000 they feel it's a better job you are doing. But from this I can easily keep that amount as savings not as earnings."

She added that the need to save and not just to earn led her to make enquiries regarding the business as well as embarking on training with a volunteer keke driver.

Derby as she is fondly called said, "I got to realise that the jobs you do and you get your earnings daily seem to be far more lucrative than the usual corporate jobs. So when someone mentioned the idea that I don't even need capital to start it, I just need to know how to operate it. So I started looking for a trainer."

Deborah, who is still single, got someone who decided to teach her for one hour daily and she learnt the skill after about 8 lessons.

She said, "After settling all levies, buy petrol, oil and making daily accounts to the keke owner, I make not less than N3,000 of which I save N2,000 and spends N1,000 on daily needs."

Deborah Sani calls on the unemployed youths to be flexible when seeking for employment.
She said, "they should not concentrate on one particular direction when they are looking for a job. Like saying I want to work in a school, I want to work in an office. You are narrowing your opportunities and some of these office jobs, these monthly paid employment, they might not pay you enough because come to think of it you might get a job now that will take you to the Island and you will discover that at the end of each day you spend close to a thousand or more daily. Tell me how such a person can save anything."

A tricycle ticket vendor in Ikeja, Lagos who pleaded anonymity said one of the problems Keke Drivers encounter in the business is insatiable passengers.

He noted that this problem is not peculiar to female gender, as some male counterparts also encounter same.

"Most of them (keke riders) are graduates. The challenges are the same for both genders. One of your passengers can decide to withhold his or her fare because you didn't stop where he/she wants you to even when that place is not a bus stop."

He opined that the business requires patience just like other businesses and encouraged more women and ladies to join them.
