The certification is not what you can get at British Council, schools who want to run the programme usually get information for certification of their schools from the British Council. Training for IGSCE certification can only be gotten from accredited schools that run the IGSCE curriculum. You best bet is to get a job in a school that runs the programme, even if it may lead to a loss in pay.

a lot of people started out with low paying first jobs; my first job paid 25k; an i was there for a year and a half; next one paid 45 k, i was there for 2 years; then on to the oil company job.

There are 2 major ways of getting jobs in the labour market.

1. Through application for advertised positions.
2. Through head-hunters.

The first option is laborious and rigorous for both the applicants and the employers. It is possible to have 100 applicants for a job, 20 may be shortlisted before choosing the successful candidates after series of tests and interviews. Most times the successful applicants, may not be able to deliver.

Getting a job through a head-hunter is usually the best, but how many people are really qualified to be headhunted? I have been headhunted on on 4 occasions, which I declined. To be headhunted you must be academically, professionally and emotionally qualified and must have tangible track records in the industry.
When I was still working for people, I never knew that some of the people who claimed to be potential customers were potential employers.

When you are headhunted you do not need to write a test or undergo any rigorous interview, the would be employer just want you to name your price and when you think you can join them. The would be employer knows the current pay and condition of service in your current organisation, they also know your track records and achievements in the industry.

If you have spent less than 10 years in the industry and you hope to make a career in the industry, I think this is the best time to get the needed experience, set records, put in your best in any organisation you find your self in, be dedicated to continuous improvement, read as wide as possible, do not see yourself as the regular teacher, be a teacher with a difference, try to be recognised and create visibility for your self in the industry so that likely employers can see you, be tenacious and have entrepreneurial drive.

He used to have a weekend music school in Isolo and Lekki, which he cannot run again. I know someone who left NAL merchant bank about 10 years ago to join the bursary department of a University in south west Nigeria, the oga's salary dropped from 250k to 80k according to him he believed he was more fulfilled by his decision.

Music is a subject which big schools do not joke with, if you are a good music teacher you can always dictate what you want to earn.

This music teacher was employed in 2007, immediately when he got his diploma in Music from LASU with a salary of 35k. The pay is not bad for a diploma holder in 2007. The guy can play about 8 musical instruments, he actual got his diploma as a part time student.

After working for a year, he opted to be converted to a part-time music teacher and still wanted to be paid 35k which he was obliged. He resigned after some time, but was recalled back and his pay was increased to 60k. With this he was expected to work for 2 days in a week.

He later joined another school for 100k around 2011 on a part time basis, by this time he had concluded his MUSON diploma in music, BA/Ed (Music) and Royal Society of Art diploma(music). While doing this, he was also the Music director in one of the big Pentecostal churches in Lagos, where he earned 50k every month and also has a band that plays in a club in Ikeja GRA.

His new job that pays 300k is a full time job, but the guys wants to relocate to Lagos for a job with a lesser pay that will give him the room and time for other things. This guy is just 32 years old.

It depends on your qualification, subject and location. They have 3 branches in Lagos ie Idimu, Ikeja and VGC. But the range is between 90k and 150k.

Please pardon my naivety, but want to know if there is any Secondary school in naija that pays entry level graduate to the tune of 90k upwards.?

Any idea about the entry level salaries of some of this schools: Corona schools, Chris land schools, Loyola Jesuit, DAY WATERMAN college and other schools in their class, especially those schools that was listed as top 100 schools in Nigeria by an active poster on this thread?

Please don't ignore, after reading, really need your input.
