I thought they said that pipeline vandals are only and always coming from the Niger Delta! undecided
The guys that run pipeline vandalism business in Arepo of Ogun state and Isawo/Majidun axis of Lagos state are Niger Delta guys, ask anybody who lives or have businesses in those areas. If you see the mansions and hotels built by Ijaw boys in thick forest around the creeks of Mawere after Oke oko.

RomanceRe: Annoying Places Broke And Stingy Guys Ask Ladies For Date by manie(m): 7:22pm On Jul 22, 2015
wristbangle:
Guys need not break a bank for a lady to trip or impress her when on a date but that is not excusable to suggest awkward places to boycott spending most especially when you know she is not the gold digging type.

It's rather a disgrace to manhood seeing places where some stingy/broke guys suggest for dating and these places are;

1. Their Houses

Often times, guys who fall under this category are not only broke or stingy but sex starved. There's actually nothing wrong with this, just that some do that just to get under her pant.

2. Mama Put Restaurant

Broke guys suggest local restaurant for babes because of the erroneous belief that Sweet Sensation foods and co. are cancerous due to the form of processing.

3. Public School Class

I shake my head when I see grown up adults caressing themselves in public schools. Of all places, why should it be a roofless classroom? "Some Babes Self No Get Self Worth At All". Only broke or stingy dudes suggest this kind of shameful arena for date.

4. Church Premises

This is a common practice in some churches especially during weekly programmes. You will see a broke brother and Sister at the church backyard professing their love, and in some cases, bleeping each other.

5. Library

Broke dudes (most especially students) seek excuse to spend big by inviting a lady to see them at a library. When she comes, they engage her in extensive discussion without buying a single item for her.

6. Road-by Shops

This is a style broke and stingy guys adopt by telling a lady to meet them at a road by shop. Knowing fully well that the commodities within the shop are not off budget (biscuit, pure water and soft drinks), they will ask the lady when she comes to mention anything she wants to eat as if he is a billionaire.
Meeting ladies in the library is a very good idea, especially if you are the type that is turned on by intellectually minded babes.

One of the many mistakes we women make is allowing our men know that we av money.

U did not do anything wrong and let it remain so even after paying ur fees.

When men sees money with us, they will be coming up with different project that they cannot do alone just to make sure that we spend what we av.
It is not a mistake if you tell your husband what you have or own, provided the man is hardworking, independent, focused and he is very sure of his own ability to make, manage and multiply wealth.
But if the man is lazy and parasitic, it will not a bad idea if you do not disclose your finances and investments to him.

A rehash of the facts are unnecessary we all read them the issue is why it is necessary for you to tell us how many houses you and your wife own or how many houses she inherited and how that further illuminates the debate. I am unsure what value that serves for us it may serve some obscure purpose for YOU but it is unnecessary.Everybody has a story no doubt bu there is a time and place for everything. On this occasion we do not need to hear your biography or family BALANCE SHEET
I guess it is also unnecessary for the OP to share her family issues, challenges and successes with us, if one is to go by your own belief of what is necessary.

It is a free world, nobody stops you from sharing your story. The OP shared her story and I learnt somethings from her relationship and her family, I also shared my story with her and not with you. Since the OP never said my story and case study are unnecessary, I will not dignify your with a response again.

Have a great day.
FamilyRe: I Told My Hubby To Stop Using My Money.am I Wrong? by manie(m): 8:06pm On Jul 21, 2015
omonnakoda:
That is a good point to make I am not sure how your biography helps to buttress it..
The the husband of the OP uses the wife's money and even depleted the savings which the wife wanted to use for her graduate studies, and another person used his own family's case study to show that a man and his wife can both have their personal money and investments, they can also both own assets together and you are still a loss about the relationship of the OP's case and how another family have devised a formula that works for them.

Although what works for family A may not work for family B, but I guess the OP can learn one or more things from the scenario described. OP is a good woman, who needs to educate her husband on financial discipline, financial planning, financial independence, savings and investments, these are the strategies that can solve money issues.

Well I am very sorry for the irrelevance of my post, but just to buttress the fact that a woman can have her own money, the husband can have his own money and both husband and wife can have joint money and investment.

And a man should not think he can and must do it alone in this age and time, and real men support the progress of their wives and must not be parasitic on their wives' money.

First and foremost, you aren’t the only one with years of marriage experience so get that straight. Second of all, I would like to know the reason why your marriage didn’t work since you’ve claimed on this board weeks back that it had nothing to do with infidelity. Perhaps it had something to do with your egocentric nature?

You can’t go into a marriage with a superman mind-set and expect it to work.
Obviously, It’s safe to assume you had be the type that will demand she does all the manual jobs in the house because you’ve made yourself the sole breadwinner.
Obviously, it will be difficult for her to have an opinion when it comes to finances and/or decisions on major projects because it’s your money which you have singly earned with outright right to spend as you wish

It’s simply idiotic and outright stupid for you to consider a position with just one possible outcome. So you will basically continue working 24/7 just to prove you are the man even if it’s clear your wife can support the family where possible?

This is just plain ridiculous to be honest with you. How can you establish a mind-set that you will always provide then suddenly expect her to support you when you can’t ?
Why sell a lifestyle that you know won’t/can’t be sustainable since you’ve rightly agreed that there is the possibility of you being incapable of fulfilling your responsibility

You are simply a perfect example of those men that will cry foul that their woman ain’t supportive even though you’ve done this that for them. Why would they I ask if all you had be trying to do is introducing a new phenom into an already established agreement

How is it absurd if the contribution is entirely going towards the household?

How stupid of you, so you had deliberately restrict your family from life of luxury just so you can massage your ego?
You had basically send your kids to public school even when it’s clear that investment in good quality education almost certainly yield desired results in the long run

I’m interested in why it didn’t work despite being a superman

Good righteous women won’t see it as such since they had be seeing whatever contribution they make as their shared responsibility for the success of their marriage
Nigerian men and their ancient mindset, once a lady earns money she needs to be involved according to her ability in the financial responsibility of the home.

I hope you heard the case of a woman in Lagos whose husband was 100% responsible for the house expenses even-though the wife was making her own money as a trader. The man thought he was a superman and always resisted any assistance from his wife.

When the man could not cope with the rent at Festac where the family stayed, they had to move down to Ketu. They lived in Ketu for 6 years before he got to know through the estate agent, that his wife owned the house. Imagine paying 6 years rent to your wife, the man moved out of the house and filed for a divorce. The wife said she built the house to secure the future of her children.

NEWS FLASH: I have been technically married for 11years and officially for 5 years until 3years ago and why the split? 70%FINANCE so you sit your ass down no matter how old you are and be objective enough to learn from people and even the unmarried because we can learn one or two things from anyone.

A MAN DOES NOT OFFICIALLY SHARE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY WITH HIS WIFE

It is unmanly and shameful. Even if your wife suggests it be quick to let her realize that you appreciate but should rather save up the money while you try your best to still provide for her and the children if any.

Now get this clearly, a man can lose his job or suddenly finds himself broke and there is nothing wrong in a lady helping her man out in this ituation nevertheless its not by asking her for 2k today and 5k tomorrow. If she is a very low income earner or money monger then GOD help you.

The subject matter is about a man practically going into sitting agreement with his wife to share financial responsibilities.IT IS TOTALLY ABSURD.

If i make 100k monthly and my wife makes 400k,i will plan my family with 100k and if she decides to bring in any other stufs i will appreciate but rather advice that she saves up that money.

I agree to financial transparency as in knowing how much she makes and i will never abuse that privilege. While i was still with my ex, i set her up in business, and she was making some money yet I STILL GIVE HER WEEKLY ALLOWANCE not minding and i make that a top priority even when there are times i had good reasons not to give her due to financial constraints.

Look if you are a man reading this, NO WOMAN RESPECTS A MAN WHO ASKS A WOMAN FOR PETTY CASH OR DEPENDS ON HER FOR FINANCIAL SUCCOR.

The best you can do is sit down and think of the least thing you can start that will bring in the required minimum to take care of your family and find a way with her to generate such EVEN IF IT MEANS HER HELPING YOU OUT then go ahead and invest, start making the money with GOD's help and be the man you are meant to be.
If you earn 100k, I will advice you plan with 80k because some funds ought to be earmarked for savings and investment.

What works for you family, will definitely not work for another. My wife works and also gets some millions of Naira as rental income from the properties left by her parents in Lagos. I do not ask my wife for money, I don't even know what she earns but we have a formula for sharing financial responsibilities in the house.

We have a joint account which we both transfer money into every month. The money in the account is to pay bills, school fees, investment for the family and educational endowment.

Apart from the joint account, we both have our personal accounts which we spend as we please.

I have 2 completed houses in my name, my wife has 2 houses in her name, 2 other houses were inherited by my wife and her 2 siblings, we also have another house in my name and my wife's name.

Whenever my wife gets lump sum from rents and dividends, she comes to me for investment advice. I do not see the success of my wife as a threat to me, as a matter of fact my wife built her house before I built mine.

Thanks for all ur contributions. I think I'd just open a savings account without his knowledge and do a monthly standing order. But he knows my monthly pay and would know if I started saving, so I intend to wait till I get promoted later this year and then save part of the differential in salary. But as for this month and next month salary, my stand remains the same, until I pay my school fees.
Do not wait till next year or when you are promoted before you start saving, I will advice you to start saving now. Tell him you got a loan from your employer for your masters degree and 60% of your salary will be used to pay back the loan for the next 2 years.

My hubby and I have had no financial secrets since marriage. He uses my atm regularly and it's almost as though we operated a joint account. This has worked for us until recently.

Now the issue is this: I'm saving for my masters school fees(distance learning) which invoves thousands of pounds. I had to defer it last year due to financial constraints. So from the beginning of this year, I had already started making plans to pay. Hubby promised to assist but each time he puts away some money, something always comes up to make him use it up.

I wouldn't have minded much if it was just that, but he turns around to deplete my own savings, promising to pay when he has money. I know he has no other means of income and cannot fulfill that promise. As it stands now, I've not been able to save a dime, and my fees is due in 2 months.
So I told him he is on his own as far as this month and next month's salary is concerned, cos I'm saving every bit of it. Some money being owed me at my place of work for months now was finally paid me yesterday. I didn't want to tell him at first, but later did this morning.

He said he was disappointed, that I've started keeping secrets from him. That he only spent my money because he was broke and not out of carelessness. I told him there was a cause.

He spends money as he sees it, and does not believe in saving for the rainy day. He is not frivolous, but will start projects he had earlier shelved due to lack of money as soon as he sees money. For e.g, He has been talking about hosting a big time baby dedication, and the whole family travelling to the village next month for holiday, which are all capital intensive projects, when he knows he cannot fund it with his salary alone.

I think he wants me to allow him use my savings, then hope for a miracle to pay my fees. I know he's not commited to my academic pursuits, though he claims to. He once used up money I had saved for a proffessional exam, promising to pay b4 the closing date, only to tell me to forgett about an exam I had fully prepared for a day to the closing date because he couldn't raise the money. I had to run around to borrow and pay that same day.

So, ladies and gents, am I wrong to have barred him from touchingmy money for thisperiod or not? Should I stop telling him how much I have exactly? Share your thoughts.
I will advice your family to have 3 accounts.

1. Joint account, where you and your husband will fund. This will be used to run the home and finance family investments/projects.
2. Your personal account, which you will use for your own personal investment, savings or project.
3. Your husband's personal account, which he can spend or invest as he wishes.

Unionism.......no way
Cooperative society........by the grace of God if the school owner allows it to thrive. Injustice will always exist in these so called schools but just few of them are magnanimous towards staff welfare. I will suggest you try "big schools" where you tend to earn allowances e.g leave bonus, Christmas bonus, medical allowances, annual increment, extra lessons allowances e.t.c apart from your salary and finally cooperative society is paramount because you will not be tempted to spend all your salary saving culture is important. Upgrade!
The best way teachers can be appreciated is by improving ourselves and adding value to our organisation, I believe so much in Karma. No good deed can ever go unrewarded, the reward may come from your boss, customer , other schools or God. Put in your best and God will do His best. One of my Mathematics teacher is now a stockbroker earning more than thrice of his former pay, an account teacher who we started together about 20 years ago is a bank manager in access bank and many more testimonies which time may not permit me.

Endtime1, thank you for this good idea of yours, I never thought of it before, but before we proceed, the reason the school was set up was to provide educational services and in return make money, however, I would say most of them are out to make abnormal profit. I must remind you that we have two school owners on this thread and not forgetting guest that are school owners.

The reason the proprietors have an association is to speak with one voice which is secondary and to peg salaries at a specific amount especially in some specific location or area in Lagos which is the primary aim of the association~I stand to be corrected. For Instance, a teacher with a master degree somewhere on the mainland in a school (name whitheld) takes home 35k with three Kids while the graduates there take 30k as their take home pay.

There is a school(name withheld) close to Obanikoro on the mainland in Lagos, where the proprietor hosted school owners in the locality to a lavish party, the agenda of the meeting was to peg a certain amount as salaries for teachers, reason being that, if a proprietor losses a teacher to another school in the same locality, the proprietor would not regret, why? Because the pay would not be different from the school the teacher left. For example, if I leave a school that pays 30k to another school within the locality I will earn 31 or 32k even with years of experience.

As regard having association is a very good idea but Unionism is not allowed in most of this private schools especially the "mushroom" ones, even if we would have one we need experience hands to direct us as to how to form it, but I doubt if we would have any, ordinary feedback na beg we dey beg-because it is everyman for himself God for all of us. Some school owners or proprietor treats graduates like the way Lebanese treats Nigerians, especially some schools within that Alagbole, tales of how schools owner treat graduates are on this thread and many more.

In defence of school owners, we created the opportunities plus it is quite difficult doing business in Nigeria especially now that the dollar is above #200. The cost of running a school is expensive.....

How do you propose we form this association?
I stand to be corrected there is no private school in Lagos that recognises workers union, in fact the teachers in the so-called big school receive a lot of insults.

Good day all, I benefited one way or the other from this thread but come to think of it I had this idea running through my mind which came as a result what I have noticed in the education sector we graduates are at the mercy of school proprietors that pays peanut all in the name of salary, treating graduates as if they haven't pass thru university system at all. This private school owners have an association called Napps but we graduates working in so called private schools don't have any union per say to address all the injustice melted out to us..in this light I will love the movers and shakers of this thread to think of way we can save the brilliant Nigerian graduates from the mess ...pls sunnapar,Golden doctor ,profdgay,upload111 what's d way forward
Unfortunately school owners are at the mercy of the harsh business environment in the country, these include annual dues to ministry of education, tax issues with IRS, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Commerce, LASAA, Local govt dues, Fire service dept, cost of running the business, salary, generator maintenance, bus maintenance, competition, social responsibility to the community etc.

Instead of blaming school proprietors and small business owners, I think they should be appreciated because the job opportunities provided by them. I know a number of High Net-worth Individuals who have N500 million and above invested in the stock market, creating wealth for themselves alone, rather than setting up businesses that will employ you and I.

My brother please see yourself as the MD/CEO of Me, Myself and I Incorporated. Get the necessary experience, knowledge and business strategy from your boss or Proprietor and move on to greater things. I believe your experience as a teacher will make you a good manager of resources.

Some of my colleagues who started as teachers about 20 years ago are now school owners, educational consultants, bank managers, IT professionals, Oil and Gas workers, successful entrepreneurs, University lecturers etc. Just look at the big picture and be focused on the bigger picture.

Demand for job is quite higher than supply, I once posted a vacancy for the post of a science teacher and I got over 100 responses as a matter of fact 6 other candidates applied from Ghana and India. When our leader create opportunities in the economy there will be more job openings thereby creating choices for young Nigerians.

But if you must start a labour union, I will advice you use your energy and resources to establish your own business and you will never regret it.

KNOXVILLE, TN (Catholic Online) - As of June 1, 2011, unmarried heterosexual couples and homosexuals will be able to legally adopt children and become foster parents in the state of Illinois under its new civil unions law. In response to this new law, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rockford has announced that it will discontinue adoption and foster care services immediately.

Some believe that the new civil unions law will not effect religious organizations such as the Catholic Church. And some homosexual advocates are claiming that the Church's decision to shut down its adoption and foster care services is a sign of intolerance. But when a bill, SB 1123, was proposed to amend certain language in the law in order to protect religious liberty, the amendment was attacked by homosexual activists and defeated by one vote.

@aaronson. It is you that is displaying ignorance for all to behold. Same Sex legislation ALWAYS carries penalties against straight people who refuse to provide services to gays.

Pastors are being arrested for refusing to wed gays. Bakers are being fined heavily for refusing to bake cake for gay wedding. That is manifestation of official intolerance.

Freedom of speech, association and religion is being destroyed by gay rights groups world over. In US if your an actor and you say you don't like Homosexuality, your career is over. That is not right.

If they have a right to exist, we that detest it have a right to air our own views. That is only fair.

After Islamic fundamentalists, gay rights campaigners are the most intolerant group in the world. If you don't agree with them you must be hounded out of your job or your business.

The silly guy who posted earlier about live and let live is sympathetic to them. Most likely he has a loved one who is gay but he doesn't wanna tell us.

The Presidency has reacted to reports in the media that the federal government took money from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) to help ease the financial burden on states.
In a statement issued by Femi Adesina, special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, he said: “Reports in sections of the media today that funds will be drawn from the Excess Crude Account for the relief package approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for states and local governments, are incorrect.
“For the purpose of greater clarity on the matter, the measures approved by President Buhari to deal with the problem of unpaid public sector salaries in many states are as follows:
*The sharing of the $2.1 Billion dividend paid to the Federation Account by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG);
* A Central Bank-packaged special intervention fund that will offer financing to the states, ranging from N250 Billion to N300 Billion. This will be a soft loan available to states for the purposes of paying backlog of salaries; and
*A debt relief program designed by the Debt Management Office which will help states restructure their commercial loans currently put at over N660 Billion, and extend the life span of such loans while reducing their debt-servicing expenditures.
The statement further noted that: “The measures approved by President Buhari definitely do not include drawing down the remaining balance in the Excess Crude Account or the “liquidation” of the account as some media outlets have wrongly reported.
“No such decision has been taken or approved by President Buhari, and last week’s meeting of the National Economic Council clearly concluded that the Excess Crude Account should be left untouched at this time.”
We need to ask PDP what they did with the previous dividends received from NLNG in the past 10 years.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the over N700 billion released from the nation’s coffers as bailout to states and local governments across the country was saved in the Excess Crude Account by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The party said it believe the money will go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the Nigerian workers in various states of the federation who have not received their salaries for months but stressed that the money was accumulated by the PDP led federal government and handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A statement by PDP national publicity secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, Tuesday, said the release of the funds was a contradiction of the earlier impression given by President Buhari to Nigerians and the international community that they should not expect much from his administration in its first one hundred days because upon assumption of office, he met virtually an empty treasury.

brother Manie, I totally agree with u. Tho, in allusion I just wanna say, all is vanity. Money is good, but we all need spiritual wealth. The Bible says eventuality befalls all man. The quality of ones life isn't judged by material possessions. The fact that one isn't successful is not enough to call him lazy. The rich aren't the hardest working ppl. Bro, u are not the smartest. The fact u succeeded doesn't mean u r smarter than that man in the street. Life is so unfair to many.
il urge u to go on ur knees and thank God that ur plans worked out for u. Bro, don't judge yet! Just give thanks. It is never by your power or ur plans or wisdom, it is by his special grace. God is God and his blessings are the only that last for generations. Jesus said he got not even a pillow to his name. His apostles never cared about worldly possessions. Solomon had everything, but he called everything, vanity. I respect ur opinions and will never deny that u made some well reasonable points, but in conclusion we live in a world where choices are respected and options are only suggested and not enforced especially in a case like this. Our parents might not be educated, but their wishes for us and their advices are Immeasurable
I agree with you that life is unfair to most people, I guess it is not fair to 80% of the population. But life can be fair, when we start having the right attitude, information, knowledge and expectations about life. The right expectation about life, is that life is not fair and will not be fair, but the odds can change through planning and prayers. But most of us only pray, hope and focus on the God factor, rather than combining these with strategic planning.

Nothings stops a person from enjoying the blessings here and also the one in the great beyond, or are they mutually exclusive.

It is a nice experience sharing my thoughts with you and also learning from you. Have a great day.
