PoliticsImo: PDP In A Hurry To Resume Looting – Okorocha by ManirBK(op): 6:32pm On Mar 21, 2019
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has accused his would-be successor, Emeka Ihedioha, and members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of “being in a hurry to resume looting after eight years of being out of power.”

Okorocha, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said instead of telling Imo people what they would do for them in terms of surpassing his achievements, the incoming administration is dissipating energy on inanities.

He said, “Members of the People’s Democratic Party in the State are obviously in a hurry to resume their usual looting of the treasury and properties of the State, reading their body languages and considering their utterances especially when they have stayed out of Power for eight years without reprieve.

“Since the party’s Candidate, Chief Emeka Ihedioha was fraudulently declared winner of the governorship election in the State following the askance role of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Francis Ezeonu, the party and its members have not made any policy statement on where they are taking-off from and where they are going from there.

“They are either talking about non-existent N17billion that has been withdrawn by the government or talking about the lands to revoke and the vehicles that have been auctioned or threatening fire and brimstone. And when they were Challenged to say where in Imo one can find N17b to withdraw and whether the money was withdrawn Cash or by transfer, they evaporated.

Okorocha said that Imo people never voted for the PDP and would not have voted for the party and its Candidate Chief Emeka Ihedioha, but the REC in Imo decided to return the Party to Power at all cost and by all means for his own selfish reasons, adding, “The only good thing about the PDP coming back to Power even if it is for three months is for Imo people to see clearly the large extent Okorocha has assiduously worked and transformed the State. Reason being that it is only when one marries two wives that he would be in a position to say which one is better.”

Politics‘singham’: The Story Of Nigeria’s Super CP by ManirBK(op): 3:59pm On Mar 17, 2019
An emotional video went viral on the social media last week. In the one minute seven seconds video which was mostly circulated on WhatsApp, a fair, surpassingly beautiful lady was seen addressing the people of Kano in Hausa language. Waxing like a politician in a recorded address to teeming supporters, the lady said: “Peace be upon the good people of Kano as I bring you greetings at this time. Please, I have a message and would be glad if you could assist me pass it across to someone special…” ADVERTISEMENT Her message was simple but quite pellucid: “I have been under family pressure to bring a suitor for marriage but I have failed to produce one because among all my suitors there is none that I desired to spend the rest of my life with. “But to the glory of God something happened; I saw a man I neither met before nor has he seen me either and my mind is now settled.” ADVERTISEMENT At this point the lady’s face became brightened and beaming with seductive smiles she continued: “He is none other than Muhammad Wakili, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Kano State. I love him with my whole heart; please help me convey this message to him…” The confession of affection as expressed by this anonymous in the video was just one out of the several outpouring of admiration by Nigerians from all walks of life towards the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Wakili, which went viral on the social media, especially in the aftermath of the March 9 governorship and state assembly polls. In another video, he was shown being metaphorically ‘mobbed’ by tumultuous crowd of admirers who chanted: “Singham, Singham, as he waded through them on the streets of the commercial city of Kano. Also there were several tweets on Twitter attesting to CP Wakili as a man of integrity who ensured Kano State had peaceful elections amidst challenges apart from combating illicit drug sale and consumption in the state. Apparently responding to public inquiries over his nickname an overwhelmed CP Wakili said in another video interview: “Wherever I go, they call me Singham; I even thought they were referring to me as ‘chingam’ (chewing gum).” Like the moth to the naked light the senior Nigerian Police officer, CP Wakili who hitherto remained relatively unknown has become the center of attraction to many Nigerians. Although he said he doesn’t know why people call him ‘Singham’, an admirer who responded on Twitter said: “It is because you are a hero, sir and also a man of his own words who brings in law offenders to justice. Be proud of yourself sir, I am proud of you and Nigerian citizens are proud of you.” On resumption of duty CP Wakili had left no one in doubt about his determination to combat crime even as he had reportedly disclosed that hard drugs were being sold like groundnuts in the streets of Kano. He warned the perpetrators to immediately stop the illicit act or face the wrath of “the new Sheriff in town.” His dramatic gesticulations and affirmative tone in a video over this drew funny reactions on the Internet. “Drug abuse is prevalent in the society,” he said in the video, adding: “Everywhere is drug abuse, everybody complains about drug abuse. Men abuse drugs, women abuse drugs, adult abuse drugs, children abuse drugs.” Indeed, CP Wakili’s nickname as Singham is quite understandable; it is a symbolic reference to a no nonsense police officer, a fictional character in a 2011 Bollywood movie titled SINGHAM. In the three part movie, the lead character called Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgan) is depicted as an honest Maratha police Inspector in charge of the Shivgarh police station in Mombai, India. He resolved most of the problems in his town informally and without filing charge sheets, thereby gaining much reputation and love from the villagers. Gautam Bhosle (“Gotya,” Sachin Khedekar), an industrialist and a friend of Singham’s father Manikrao Singham (Govind Namdeo) later came to Shivgarh with his wife and daughter Kavya (Kajal Aggarwal). Eventually Singham and Kavya fell in love with each other and their courtship manifested through a series of comic events where she initially hated him. Eventually, she had a change of heart when she discovered his honest and simple nature. The lady who confessed her heartfelt love for CP Wakili to Kano audience in the video may not end up getting married to ‘Singham’ like Kavya. But her message of admiration has resonated among teeming Nigerians of diverse backgrounds who are united in their testimonies about the integrity of this super cop. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/singham-the-story-of-nigerias-super-cp.html? PoliticsConfusion In Kano As APC, PDP Embark On Victory Celebration by ManirBK(op): 6:46am On Mar 11, 2019
Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took to the streets in Kano in celebration, both claiming to have won Saturday’s governorship election.

Results were still being collated when supporters from both sides stormed the streets at about 9 pm claiming their party had won.

Daily Trust observed that celebrations started across the metropolis shortly after results of the election which attributed victory to PDP went viral on social media.

While PDP supporters were jubilating for dislodging the incumbent governor of the state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, those of the ruling APC were also celebrating for the latter’s re-election.

However, it was noticed that security was beefed up within the state metropolis as heavily armed security personnel were posted at strategic places to prevent any breakdown of law and order bin the metropolis.
At INEC headquarters, security was also beefed up as roads leading to the commission’s headquarters were barricaded by armed security men.

It was further observed that only accredited persons are allowed to gain access to the building.

As at the time of filing this report around 9:20pm, results from 28 local governments out of the 44 have been collated, while the exercise continued.
The already collated results shows that APC was leading but with little margin.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Plateau State governorship election inconclusive.
The state returning electoral officer who is the Vice Chancellor of Benue State University of Agriculture, Richard Kimbir, made the declaration at exactly 3:31 a.m.
He explained that the margin between the two major parties must be in excess of the total registered voters of the areas where election was held.
The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 583,255 while his opponent, Jeremiah Useni, polled 538,326.
The state governorship candidate for the Alliance for a New Nigeria (ANN) Alex Ladan, came third, polling 2,216 votes.
The electoral officer furthered explained that the margin between the APC and PDP is 44, 929, while the cancelled vote is 49, 377.
Mr Limber also said INEC would have to conduct a fresh election in 14 local government areas, out of the 17 in the state.
These are Jos East, Jos North, Jos South, Kanam, Langtang North, Langtang South, Mangu, Panshin, Kanke, Mikang, Quanpan, Riyom, Shendam, and Wase.
He also said the reasons why the results in some polling units were cancelled were due to overvoting, manual voting, and violence.
