PoliticsSaudi Arabia Executes 81 Men In One Day For Terrorism by ManirBK(op): 9:12pm On Mar 12, 2022
Saudi Arabia says it executed 81 men on Saturday - more than during the whole of last year.
The group - including seven Yemenis and one Syrian national - were convicted of "multiple heinous crimes", including terrorism, state news agency SPA said.
Some were charged with belonging to the Islamic State group (IS), al-Qaeda or the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Rights organisations say many do not receive fair trials in Saudi
Arabia, an allegation the government rejects.
According to SPA, the latest group had been tried by 13 judges and gone through a three-stage judicial process.
They were accused of plotting attacks on vital economic targets,
killing or targeting members of the security forces, kidnapping, torture, rape and smuggling weapons into the country.
Saudi Arabia has one of the highest execution rates in the world - fifth in a list compiled by Amnesty International, the other four being China, Iran, Egypt and Iraq.
It executed 69 people last year.

These governments need to stop this foolishness. They are playing with civilian lives. With heavy tension between those two neighboring states...this 'accident' can trigger a messy response.
Accident or not, at least we know India is at default pointing their

PAKISTAN will answer it accidentally soon!!
Foreign AffairsIndia Fires Missile Into Pakistan Accidentally by ManirBK(op): 6:22pm On Mar 11, 2022
India says it accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan on Wednesday, blaming the incident on a "technical malfunction" during routine maintenance.

Delhi said it was "deeply regrettable" and expressed relief no one was killed.

Pakistan's military said a "high-speed flying object" had crashed near the eastern city of Mian Channu and its flight path had endangered passenger flights.

Both countries have nuclear weapons.

In a statement, India's defence ministry said: "On 9 March 2022, in the course of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry."

Islamabad warned Delhi to "be mindful of the unpleasant consequences of such negligence" and to avoid a repeat. The object had been launched from Sirsa in Haryana state, it said.

Pakistan's air force said the missile travelled at Mach 3 - three times the speed of sound - at an altitude of 12,000m (40,000ft) and flew 124km (77 miles) in Pakistani airspace before crashing.

"The flight path of this object endangered many national and international passenger flights both in Indian and Pakistani airspace, as well as human life and property of ground," said Pakistani military spokesman Major-General Babar Iftikharon Thursday.

On Friday, Pakistan's foreign ministry said it had summoned India's chargé d'affaires to complain about the incident.

Pakistan also urged India to share the findings of its investigation into what happened.

The owner of Facebook and Instagram will allow users in some countries to call for violence against Vladimir Putin and Russian soldiers.

Meta says it has temporarily made allowances for some violent speech, like "death to the Russian invaders," that would usually break its rules.

However, it says it won't permit calls for violence against Russian civilians.

In response, Russia called on the US to stop the social media giant's "extremist activities".

The announcement came after Reuters news agency said it had seen internal emails outlining the policy shift.

"In light of the ongoing invasion of Ukraine, we made a temporary exception for those affected by the war, to express violent sentiments toward invading armed forces," a Meta spokesperson told the BBC.

Under the amended policy, users in countries including Russia, Ukraine and Poland will also be able to call for the deaths of Russia's President Putin and Belarusian President Lukashenko.

The emails reportedly said calls for the leaders' deaths will be allowed unless they contain other targets, or included a location or methods.

Calls for violence against Russians are also allowed when the post is clearly references the invasion of Ukraine, the emails reportedly said.

"We demand that US authorities stop the extremist activities of Meta, take measures to bring the perpetrators to justice," Russia's embassy in the US tweeted.

"Users of Facebook & Instagram did not give the owners of these platforms the right to determine the criteria of truth and pit nations against each other," it added.

callme9mm:
I think he’s right to some extent.
yes bro Russia as number one exporter of wheat 30% and Ukraine as number 5 if they are not exporting the demand will be high on Nigeria little time we will run out of supply
PoliticsRe: Russia-ukraine War: Ban Export Of Maize To Avoid Scarcity, Dangote Tells FG by ManirBK(op): 10:17am On Mar 11, 2022
Why's Dangote not saying the same about crude oilhuh

I'm so convinced that a day is coming when God will open d eyes
of Nigerians that naija problem is closer to them than they think!!!
PoliticsRussia-ukraine War: Ban Export Of Maize To Avoid Scarcity, Dangote Tells FG by ManirBK(op): 10:17am On Mar 11, 2022
Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, says
the federal government should stop the export of
maize from Nigeria to avoid the scarcity expected to
come as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Responding to a question by TheCable at the fourth
Annual Nigerian Food Processors and Nutrition
Leadership Forum on Thursday, Dangote said Russia
and Ukraine are the major producers of ingredients used
in making fertilizers.
He said the shortage of these ingredients as a result of
the war will also lead to a shortage of fertilizers and
some food products like wheat and maize.
“There will be shortage of wheat, maize and a lot of
products because as we speak now Russia and Ukraine
do almost 30% of the world’s urea and 26% of the
world’s potash — and phosphate also, there are one of
the largest in the world,” he said.

“There would be scarcity of food generally, we would
not be able to access fertilizers going forward, we
would not see the effects now, but in the next two, three
months. The US will not be able to do same number of
tonnage they did last year because of this.
Dangote said he believes food producers need to have
a sit down with the government to halt the coming
scarcity.
“Right now, you would start seeing people exporting
maize to earn foreign exchange, which I think we need
to stop, so that we don’t create shortage, and we need
to make sure we grow more so we don’t have shortage.
It is about food security, and it is very very serious.”

Olusanya: We’ll see maize trafficking
Boye Olusanya, the CEO of Flour Mills of Nigeria, said
Nigeria will be affected by the crisis in Russia and
Ukraine, and the country needs to start discussing
solutions.
“The reality is that Russia and Ukraine are number one
and number five in wheat production, and if you take
that volume, which is almost one-third of global
production, there would be an immediate impact on
prices,” he said.
“Today, the prices of wheat have gone up. There is a
lag that comes because of inventory control, but it is
something that we need to sit down with the
government to say what measures can we put in place
to alleviate what is coming.
“The impact is not just on wheat alone; Ukraine is one
of the largest producers of maize, which will also have
a significant on maize, which is an alternative to wheat.
“You will start looking at cross-border trafficking of
maize, more farmers will look into taking maize out of
the country.
“The last impact is on fertilizers, and the impact is not
just short term, you’re looking at a one-off thing. You’re
looking an impact on production over a year to 18
months.
“When you look at all that and what then happens in
pricing, obviously, if we don’t manage this well, there
will be significant volume compression, in terms of
material that comes in and therefore the volume of food
that is sold.”
He said this may affect fortification efforts, which will
subsequently affect the health of Nigerians if a quick
solution is not figured out.

Osagie Ehanire, the minister of health; Niyi Adebayo,
minister for trade and investment; and Olusola Idowu,
representative of the minister of finance, were all in
attendance.

Russia has banned exports of auto equipment
Russia has banned exports of more than 200 types of foreign-made product until the end of 2022 in a bid to mitigate the impact of western sanctions.

Exports of telecom, agricultural, electrical and technology equipment that were previously imported into Russia from abroad will be affected.

Russia will also ban some timber exports to nations that have "committed unfriendly actions".

Around 48 countries will be affected, including EU and the US.

Banning exports of foreign made goods was "necessary to provide stability on the Russian market", according to an order signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Other items subject to the ban include cars, railway carriages, containers and turbines.

It follows harsh western sanctions on Russia's financial system and energy in response to its invasion of Ukraine.

A growing number of Russian oligarchs have also been hit with asset freezes and travel bans.

According to the most recent figures, Russia is the UK's 19th largest trading partner, with trade between the two nations totalling £15.9bn.

PoliticsChelsea Seized As Abramovich Is Sanctioned By UK Government by ManirBK(op): 11:07am On Mar 10, 2022
Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government as part of its response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He is one of seven oligarchs to be hit with fresh sanctions, including asset freezes and travel bans.

The list also includes billionaires Igor Sechin and Oleg Deripaska, both seen as allies of Vladimir Putin.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said "there can be no safe havens" for
those who have supported the invasion.
"Today's sanctions are the latest step in the UK's unwavering support for the Ukrainian people. We will be ruthless in pursuing those who enable the killing of civilians, destruction of hospitals and illegal occupation of sovereign allies," Mr Johnson said.

The government had come under pressure to sanction Mr Abramovich, who said he had made the "difficult decision" to sell Chelsea FC earlier this month. Chelsea FC has been seized from Mr Abramovich as part of the freeze on his assets and the sale of the club is now on hold.
The government says it will issued a special licence that will allow
fixtures to be fulfilled, staff to be paid and existing ticket holders to
attend matches.
Season ticket holders can still attend games they have tickets for but
club can not now sell any more tickets that haven't been sold already.
The merchandise shop will be closed.
Abramovich, 55, is alleged to have strong ties to Russian President
Vladimir Putin, which he has denied.
The government says Mr Abramovich, who has an estimated net
worth of £9.4bn, is "one of the few oligarchs from the 1990s to
maintain prominence under Putin".
Mr Abramovich has stakes in steel giant Evraz, Norilsk Nickel and sold
a 73% stake in Russian oil firm Sibneft to state-owned gas titan
Gazprom for £9.87bn in 2005.
While the sanctions against him throw Chelsea FC's future in doubt,
ministers sought to reassure the club it would not be "unnecessarily
harmed".
In a tweet, Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said holding those who
have "enabled the Putin regime to account" was the priority.
"I know this brings some uncertainty, but the government will work
with the league and clubs to keep football being played while ensuring
sanctions hit those intended," she wrote.
