N4.15trillion

maintenance
since 2015,
oil-rich
Nigeria has
the eight
cheapest
petrol in the
world,
costing about
$0.40 (N166)
per litre,
according to
a report.
The report,
published by
Zutobi, an
international
driver’s
education
company with
courses in
the United
States, United
Kingdom,
Sweden,
Australia,
France and
Germany,
revealed that
the average
cost of a
gallon of
petrol in
Nigeria is
$1.82
(N755),
compared to
Hong Kong,
which has the
highest price
of petrol
anywhere in
the world at
$13.10
(N5,438) per
gallon and
$2.88 (1,195)
per litre.


The
Netherlands
is the second
most
expensive
place for
petrol around
the world,
costing
$11.75 per
gallon. This
is $5.69
more than the
global
average,
making it the
most
expensive
country in the
western
world.
At just $0.39
less than the
Netherlands,
Norway is the
third most
expensive
country for
petrol prices.
Norwegians
have to pay
$11.36 per
gallon on
average.

complete the
top seven
countries with
the most
affordable
petrol prices
per litre.
Kazakhstan
and
Turkmenistan,
where a litre
of petrol is
sold at $0.41
and $0.43,
respectively,
also made it
to the top
10.
The report
also
discovered
that Iran has
seen the
biggest
decrease in
petrol prices
anywhere in
the world
over the past
half decade.
Prices have
been slashed
by almost
3,000 per
cent while the
price of
petrol in
Saudi Arabia
has risen by
almost 300
per cent in
the last five
years, making
it the country
that has seen
the biggest
increase in
fuel prices in
the world.
Venezuela,
Libya and
Iran are the
only countries
where the
cost per
gallon of fuel
is less than a
dollar. On the
other hand,
Hong Kong,
the
Netherlands,
Norway and
Monaco are
countries that
have prices
of over $11
per gallon.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) did not
sight the Shawwal crescent on Saturday, and as a result,
the countries will mark Eid ul Fitr on Monday.
"The Crescent of Shawaal 1443 was NOT SEEN today,
subsequently, the month of Ramadan will complete 30
days tomorrow and Monday 2nd May, 2022 will be the day
of Eid," the official Twitter account of Haramain announced.
As for the UAE, the country's Moon Sighting Committee,
according to Gulf News , said the Shawwal crescent was not
sighted, therefore, Sunday, May 1, will be the last day of
Ramadan.

Ahead of the 2023 election, a special Tawaf is to be
held on Thursday for Bola Tinubu, a national leader of
the All Progressives Congress (APC) and top
contender for the office of president, the Speaker of
the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru
Obasa, has said.
Tagged ‘Special Tawaf for Asiwaju’, the session is to
commence by noon and would be conducted around
Kaabah at the centre of Islam’s most important
mosque, the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Participants are to wear the ihram attire and
congregate at the King Abdulaziz Gate of the Holy
Mosque.
The Tawaf is expected to be attended by some Islamic
scholars and political leaders from Nigeria, including
the Speaker Obasa, who said the event was also to
thank Allah for the former governor of Lagos ahead
of the presidential election.
According to Mr Obasa, all those expected to partake
in the Tawaf have the faith that Allah would ensure a
peaceful electioneering and victory for Mr Tinubu.
“We have come to seek the favour of Allah and His
blessings for Asiwaju in the coming election,” Mr
Obasa said. “We are not testing Allah’s will and
power but soliciting His blessings, support and
anointing because Allah is sufficient for us. We are
doing this in support of Asiwaju’s presidential
ambition.

“Having consulted widely and across the country, we
strongly believe that every other thing required for
the success of the election and victory for Asiwaju
are in the hand of Almighty Allah,” Mr Obasa said
while urging other Muslims and well-meaning
Nigerians to join the session.

A Kebbi-born multinational contractor and Director-General
Tinubu Support Organisation, Aminu Suleiman, on Wednesday
signed a cheque to purchase the presidential nomination form for
the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
This is coming barely 24 hours after the ruling party announced the
sale of its presidential nominations forms for ₦100million.
Suleiman reiterated his belief in the capacity of the former
governor of Lagos State to positively transform Nigeria as
President.

The statement reads: “Director General Tinubu Support Organisation
(TSO) Hon. Aminu Suleiman signs ₦100m cheque to purchase APC
presidential form For Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Speaking this evening, Hon. Aminu Suleiman Director-General of the
real Tinubu Support Organisation said ‘Asiwaju has helped, raised
and lifted a lot of people and he is a man with a kind heart.
“The only thing I can do right now is to buy the ₦100m APC
Presidential Expression of Interest Form and Nomination Form for
his father and mentor.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the man of every moment and he will
transform Nigeria when he becomes the President. There will be
economic growth and prosperity and Nigeria will be an r place.”


The National Coordinator, Nigeria Next Level Forum, Oladipupo
Oladosu while speaking on the development noted that it is not
only true but a confirmation of the firm belief in the capacity of
Tinubu to transform the country.
He further stated that his group has aimed to ensure that a Yoruba
man emerges as the next President of Nigeria.
According to Oladosu, Tinubu has proved his worth through his
network and human capacity development among other aspirants.

Defending champions Al Hilal booked their place in the knockout
round of AFC Champions League 2022 on Tuesday as a 3-0 win by the
Saudi Arabian side over Tajikistan's Istiklol in Riyadh kept their perfect
record intact.
Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo struck twice in the first
half before Salem Al Dawsari added a third in injury time at the end of
the game to give Ramon Diaz's side a fourth win in a row in Group A.
The result means Al Hilal move onto 12 points and are certain to
claim at minimum one of the three best runners-up slots in the last 16
of the competition.
Winners of each of the five groups in west Asia plus the three second-
place finishers with the best records advance to the next round, which

Ighalo's eighth minute header put Al Hilal in front and the Nigerian
