The federal government has released the sum of N93.47m for disbursement to benefiting households in Abia State through the Abia State Cash Transfer Unit of the Social Investment Programme (SIP) of the federal government. This development was made known in Umuahia by Mr Godwin Okeagu of the SIP Office Umuahia in a press statement. He explained that the disbursement would start from one local government in the state, adding that about N540 million was paid in 2020 to the same households. The SIP office commended the federal government for the investment programme, thanking “Mr President for sustaining this programme that has improved the livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable members of the society,” and extolling Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for providing the structures to implement the initiative in the state smoothly. The release said over N800 million was being injected into Abia State economy monthly by the federal government through the National SIP. Meanwhile, arrangements have been concluded to ensure that all 17 LGAs in the state fully benefit from the programme as confirmed by Mr Chinenye Nwaogu, SIP’s focal person in the state. The statement further described Abia State SIP office, led by Mr Okeziem Nwoko, as one of the most efficiently in the country.https://dailytrust.com/10000-households-to-share-fgs-n93-5m-sip-in-abia mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |

Indeed a very educative write up God bless Nigeria. mynd44 this deserve front page |
It is as if once our intellectuals find their feet in other
shores, they develop a contemptuous mindset
towards their country and anything happening in the
country is viewed from negative prisms.
People in the diaspora become perpetual critics
whose thirst for castigating Nigerian leaders and their
policies is hardly satisfied.
This posture had made many patriotic citizens to
conclude that most of these Nigerians living in
foreign countries are driven by regime hate hence are
not capable of critically and objectively dissecting the
situation they choose to interrogate not to talk of
proffering positive solutions.
Rather than come up with ideas for the political and
socioeconomic upliftment of their people, Nigerians
in the diaspora have constituted themselves into a
nation of cynics and pessimists trying hard to drag
the Nigerian state down.
It is typical of comments from there to reduce every
economic breakthrough to happenstance, every good
policy to a mere mistake while challenges are
elevated as the norm.
While the nationals of other countries seek ways to
better their country through researches and pooling of
funds from their host countries, the Nigerian Diaspora
community is more interested in seeing itself as an
opposition party.
In the 70s, it was a group of Malaysians in the
diaspora who stumbled on the Nigerian palm fruits
and through researches were able to extract pure
vegetable oil from the fruit which they now export to
other countries.
But decades after we have sent our sons and
daughters to the most technologically advanced
countries, our mothers and sisters are still using
grinding stones to grind pepper while our men are
still using raffia to climb palm trees.
Good and commercially viable agricultural products
still perish on their ways to the market because
there’s no means of preserving them.
While they have failed in their patriotic duties of using
their experiences to help in the development of their
country, they appear unrelenting in the bid to rubbish
whatever progress Nigeria is making.
This was why when Nigeria was categorised as one
the fastest developing economies in the world, it did
not make an impression on these set of intellectuals,
neither have they said anything since our military
turned the tide against terrorists and insurgents that
have been disturbing the peace of the country.
There are millions of Nigerians in the diaspora and
can be found in most countries of the world including
the United States, UK, South Africa, UAE, Italy, and
Spain. A survey conducted in the US indicated that
Nigerians in the US are one of the highest educated
migrant groups.
The survey found that 29 per cent of the Nigerian
diaspora older than 25, held a master’s degree, Ph.D.
or an advanced professional degree compared to 11
per cent of the US population overall.
It is said that no country in Sub-Saharan Africa
receives more remittances than Nigeria, estimated by
the World Bank at around 24.3B per year and 6 per
cent of GDP.
This makes Nigeria the sixth country in the world in
remittance inflows.
This should have been celebrated as it is quite huge,
but the benefits of such potentials are hardly seen at
home. This is because they are only channeled
towards luxurious and personal interests. Hardly are
the inflows invested into the Nigerian economy with a
view to ensuring a multiplier effect.
They are remittances through family ties and have
not been substantial enough to jump-start any aspect
of the economy, let alone develop one.
Worse still, many of the Nigerians in the diaspora,
wreak havoc on the image of Nigeria by their
involvement in crime across the continents.
A release by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
for America in the year 2020 showed that Nigerian
citizens are among the leading nationals in crime.
Clearly, they have become bad influences on their
home country by becoming emergency activists who
go out to ruin the peace of the country.
It has even been alleged that some of their
unpatriotic interventions are sponsored to destabilise
Nigeria for which they receive financial gratification.
But these have got to stop. Nigerians abroad must
start seeing the good in their country and project the
same to the world. They must serve as the catalyst
for technological advancement and steer clear of the
underground moves to use them to destabilise their
own country.

https://leadership.ng/group-hails-pmb-over-rescue-of-kidnapped-schoolboys/ myn44 oam4j lalasticlala The Citizens Action for Good Governance (CAGG) a non- governmental organisation, has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari over the rescue of kidnapped Katsina schoolboys from their captors. A statement signed by the national coordinator, of the group, Nazir Galadanchi, noted that Nigeria was under control as the Buhari-led administration is doing all within its powers to ensure Nigeria and Nigerians are well secured and protected despite the bluff of bandits and insurgents. The statement also acknowledged the role played by governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and other service chiefs in the release of the boys after much negotiation with their captors. Masari had earlier confirmed the release of 340 students of Government Science Secondary School (GSSS) Kankara and were heading to Katsina from a forest the abductors kept them. The statement reads in part, “We were all traumatized and anxious by the kidnap of over 300 students of Government Secondary Science School in Kankara, Katsina State on December 11, 2020, by gunmen later claimed to be members of the Boko Haram sect. “We condemned the kidnap of innocent boys that same day and were sure of their release with prayers to God for their unconditional release. “We were excited and rejoicing by receiving the news on Thursday of their rescue following President Muhammadu’s tenacity and resolve to rescue the boys and hand them over to their parents and families.” |

https://leadership.ng/how-we-rescued-kankara-schoolboys-military/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala The Nigerian Military yesterday made some revelations on the rescue operation of the 344 boys kidnapped from their school in Kankara, Katsina State, on December 11. It disclosed that while kinetic and non-kinetic approaches were deployed to ensure all the boys were rescued unhurt, there was resistance from the abductors who laid an ambush against the troops. The coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, and a former director, Military Intelligence, Maj.-Gen. Ahmed Jibrin (rtd) gave the account when they featured on a special edition of the Nigeria Television Authority programme, “Good Morning Nigeria.” The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jibrin is currently the special adviser, Technical, to the Minister of Defence, retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi. Jibrin said following the abduction of the boys, the minister led a delegation, including the Service Chiefs and National Security Adviser, to Katsina and Kankara. He said the minister gave the rules of engagement directing the troops to ensure the abducted boys were rescued without casualties and within the shortest time possible. “Following the directive, the troop closed in on the abductors from four different fronts, including the reinforcement that was made from other divisions to ensure that the entire location was sealed off. “The bandits were all under siege and they were fully aware of that, feeling the impacts of the presence of the troops both from the air and on the ground. “When they approached the location where the boys were held, the troops encountered some pockets of opposition which they cleared and moved deeper into the forest. “Although there was no casualty on the part of the boys, a lot of the bandits were neutralised because, in the attempt by the military to move forward, they laid an ambush in two places along the way. “In fact, in the second place where they laid an ambush, there was serious resistance because they were hiding and occupied the road. “They delayed the movement of the troop for some hours before they were neutralised,’’ he said. Jibrin said while the troops were on the field, negotiations were ongoing at another level of the rescue efforts. He said the troop could not completely demobilise the bandits because of possible collateral damage as the abducted boys were used as a human shield. On the claim by the Boko Haram terrorists that they were responsible for the abduction, Jibrin said the group was only seeking cheap relevance. “Shekau does not have the reach to carry out the abduction because a lot is being done to stop them in the North-East. |
