The price of crude oil rose on Tuesday to its highest since October 2018 after an aborted meeting of the Organisations of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+). Brent crude went up 62 cents to $77.78 a barrel, its highest since October 2018 while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures is up to $1.75, at $76.91 highest since November 2014, Bloomberg reported. This development comes some weeks after Brent oil hit $75 dent, its highest level since April 2019. The rise in oil prices comes after OPEC+ called off their meeting on Monday. Production should have been increased in monthly steps until the end of the year to meet rising demand, but a dispute between the oil power Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has prevented an agreement. The dispute revolves around both the extent of the production increase until the end of 2021 and the extension of the conditions under which OPEC+ operates.https://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/business-news/471974-oil-prices-push-toward-80-highest-in-over-two-years.html naijacutee, dominique, FOD, puskin mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |

The President of the Customary Government of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Emeka Emekesiri, weekend commended the federal government for “the opportunity for fair hearing” given to the rearrested IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Emekesiri spoke at a virtual conference with the theme ‘The Arrest of Nnamdi Kanu: What Next for the Biafra Struggle’, organized by Elombah TV. Building collapse: Council threatens to sanction quack surveyors Security threat: FCTA demolishes 400 illegal structures along Airport Road He said if the Federal Government “wanted to kill him (Kanu), they had enough time to do so. Let the course of law prevail in his case”. He said Kanu was not arrested for the Biafran struggle, but for other alleged crimes. He noted that the Nigerian and international laws do not criminalize agitation for self- determination but only criminal acts such as terrorism, treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and managing an unlawful society which Kanu was charged for before he jumped bail. Citing CAP 10 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 and CAP A9, Article 20 of Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, Emekesiri said self-determintion is guaranteed under Nigerian laws. He said when an organisation begins to commit an unlawful action, it becomes unlawful in the eyes of the law. In his submission, Dr Nwankwo Nwaezeigwe of the African and Oriental Studies in the University of Nigeria Nsukka said Kanu’s rhetoric and attitude did not paint him as ardent revolutionist. Also yesterday, head of membership and mobilisation of IPOB in Australia, Kennedy Ochi, in a statement, asked members to boycott travelling with Kenya Airways or patronising Kenyan products. In spite of the denial by the Kenyan Government, IPOB and Kanu’s family claimed that he was rearrested and extradited from Kenya.https://dailytrust.com/ipob-welcomes-fair-hearing-opportunity-for-kanu mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala mannabbqgrill |

The federal government says 50,000 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) will benefit from its conditional cash transfer to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive Secretary, National Commission of Persons with Disability, James Lalu, at a press conference in Abuja weekend, said data collection for beneficiaries would commence today. DSS wants Suspects transferred to Abuja Lagos police parade 49 suspects arrested at Yoruba Nation protest Decrying what he called years of neglect of PWDs in the country, Lalu noted that the intervention was among other programmes by the federal government to ease the plight of the disability community. He said beneficiaries would be drawn from the 744 local government areas with the majority to be selected in the rural areas. “The data collection will start from Monday with officials going round the 36 states of the federation to collect necessary information. Those who may not have a bank account are encouraged to open a bank account because the information on bank account will be received too.” He appealed to state governments to use their established structures to help ease the task by providing information on those in dire need of the intervention. He said the money was a start-up capital to empower the beneficiaries, urging them to utilise it for proper investment.https://dailytrust.com/fg-to-empower-50000-persons-with-disabilities mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala mannabbqgrill |

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday directed the military, police and intelligence agencies to ensure safe and early release of all kidnapped victims, expressing concern over incessant attacks on Kaduna and Niger States, largely targeted at students. S While noting ongoing deployment of additional security personnel to all troubled areas, the President in a statement by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, urged security outfits to “act swiftly” to rescue all school boys and girls in the affected states and ensure safe return. President Buhari said the disturbing incidents of kidnapping students, mostly in Northern states, was already threatening to undermine efforts in boosting school enrolments in states that were adjudged educationally backward. He called on state governments to ensure compliance with UN-supported Safe Schools Programme, which the administration had adopted. The President described kidnapping as cowardly and despicable, condemning it as an assault on affected families and the nation.https://leadership.ng/buhari-expresses-worry-over-incessant-school-attacks/ mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |

The Borno State Government has approved the sum of
N88.5 million for the training and retraining of 1,050 civil
servants.
Head of Service in the state, Barrister Simon Malgwi, said
this yesterday at Musa Usman Secretariat in Maiduguri. He said training which would soon start and end in December 2021, became necessary, because many civil servants who had served for 20 to 30 years were unable to benefit from any training.. He said Governor Babagana Zulum had already implemented the N30,000 minimum wage, adding that the governor obtained a N12 billion loan from Zenith Bank, which was used in payments of outstanding gratuities of retired civil servants at the state and local government levels. He added that Zulum also gave approval for automatic migration from salary to pension, adding that civil servants get enrolled into pension immediately when they retire from service. https://dailytrust.com/borno-approves-n88-5m-for-civil-servants-training mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the military and security agencies not to give breathing space to terrorists and criminals in various parts of the country. President Buhari gave the charge Thursday during an official visit to personnel of the Armed Forces and security agencies in Operation HADIN KAI at the Maimalari Cantonment, in Maiduguri, Borno State. COVID-19: African CEOs hopeful on improved economy Community members beg ‘thugs’ not to harass workers at erosion sites The president said the war must be concluded with restoration of peace and reconstruction of all the affected areas. Buhari, who said the nation owes a debt of gratitude to military men and women, and security agencies currently tackling security challenges in the country, particularly the many who paid the supreme price, assured family members that the government will continue to support all the loved ones. The president, in a statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu, said wounded comrades will get the best medical attention towards their full recovery. “While acknowledging your collective efforts at decimating and degrading the terrorists and reaffirming the inviolable sovereignty of our nation, I also wish to extol your steadfastness and untiring efforts in the face of the difficulties you experience in the Theatres of Operation. “Your collective efforts have resulted in the relative peace being enjoyed in the region today. Under my watch, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have been provided a firm strategy and clear sense of direction to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. “We should not allow our adversaries the opportunity or breathing space to challenge or undermine our national interests and core values. The defence and security agencies should rest assured of the federal government’s unalloyed commitment to winning the battle against terror and criminality,” he added. President Buhari commended the military and security agencies for the synergy that translated into successes in restoring peace and order. President Buhari assured that his administration is developing a strategy for post-war reconstruction and peacebuilding side by side with the efforts of the Armed Forces and security agencies. The president said several interventions by the federal government had led to the procurement and delivery of large consignments of critical combat enablers, including high calibre weapons and ammunition. “Many have been injected into the Theatre and soon other equipment that have just arrived in the country would also be deployed to the Theatre of operations. Much more equipment will be procured for the Armed Forces to cater for both the short and long-term requirements.” “In addition, your welfare is of utmost importance and concern to this government. I am glad that the gradual rotation of the troops in the field has commenced, as I directed. I am sure that this will minimize and possibly eliminate battle fatigue, as well as enhance troops’ morale. “You must therefore remain steadfast and see this war to a conclusive end. In doing so, you must rely on inter-agency cooperation, and strengthen your cohesion with the troops of neighbouring Republics of Cameroon, Chad and Niger in our collective fight against the terrorists, under the auspices of the Multinational Joint Task Force. This will consolidate our efforts and facilitate the speedy return of peace and stability to the region,” the president said. President Buhari, who also interacted with some of the wounded soldiers assured them that the government was fully committed to their recovery and welfare. In his remarks, the Commander of Theatre Operations HADIN KAI, Maj Gen. Felix Omoigui, assured troops of the President’s confidence and commitment to their welfare, especially in bringing the war to a conclusive end. https://dailytrust.com/buhari-to-military-dont-give-breathing-space-to-terrorists mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |
