They are yet to get back to me on actual cost of deposit to make but Dr Kayode said it wouldn’t be a problem. From their website, deposit should be 7,800 for 3 nights for both mother and child. But I’m waiting to hear back from the secretary though about the hospital’s decision and way forward.

I’m in Mississauga and it’s close to Brampton, I’m careful not to get a hospital that’s too far off just in case labour starts at odd hours.

For POE, it might depend on what airport you arrive. There are automated process in place in Toronto where I landed but I still got asked questions especially why I want to birth in Canada and not UK which is my usual place of residence. The first POE officer said UK has fantastic healthcare which is true so it’s a bit different from how healthcare in Nigeria is perceived. So I had to defend my decision to give birth here which was not necessarily easy. I was even passed onto another officer (the point where deportation happen) but I was too hot and tired to even be afraid and also cos I was aware I wasn’t doing anything illegal. I emphasised the fact that I have a good paying job and a husband to go back to in England and that I already contacted their colleagues in England who guaranteed me that it wasn’t illegal, that all I needed was show that I can cover my bills although ultimate decision lies on the POE officer.

In terms of food, I didn’t bring any so can’t really comment. I’m staying with a friend so accommodation and feeding are not issues.


Meanwhile, I’ll say to confirm all the tests they need you to do and do them before you come especially if you can save cost (for me all my tests are free where I reside so it definitely would save me extra cost). It’ll also save you the stress of looking for and attending lab (not much of a hassle but again anything to avoid additional stress right?).

1. Did u get your visa for tourism or did you mention childbirth in your application?
2. Did they make any reference to your visa application on whether you mentioned childbirth intentions when you applied for the visa?
3. I know the CBP officer allowed you in eventually, but what can you deduce from all the questioning and what convinced them to allow you entry?

You can either use it or change your name. Some have used it like that on this forum without issues, you just have to support your application with marriage certificate, change of name etc.
In my own case, I applied to change my name on my passport, so I'm still waiting for it to be ready.

@chimto, honestly I don't think I'm in a position to answer your question but I think contacting WES would seem the best thing to do. You can provide them with a "Declaration of Age" document. Hope this helps.

@ladylco, good day and happy birthday to you in arrears. I remember reading your previous post above that you sponsored & applied for TRV for your parents. I would love to apply for TRV for my MIL to accompany me and my spouse to Canada, I will be her sponsor. We already have our own TRV and now considering childbirth in Canada later in the year.

Please note that our own TRV was a renewal and it was about 2weeks after submitting our TRV application that we discovered that we don port, lol.

I believe from your experience, you're in a position to assist with guiding me on how to go about this.

@SeriaBravo, I think the question reads like this "Do you have any family member accompanying you that you want to apply together with" You have to pick YES, and that will be for your Spouse. Then it will ask again, if you have other family member blah blah blah like above, then you pick YES again and this will be for 1 child. It goes on and on if you have more children coming with you. After choosing for all, then you will say NO when asked again if you still have other family member.

Please use google for tourist sites in Toronto. You have the CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, Niagara falls etc etc.

@balogunsam, I hope you have sorted this already. If not, you might want to try going to an internet cafe and seek help with their computer guys. Had a similar issue a while back and I had used online compressing sites to reduce to 7.7mb on my own and the sites couldn't reduce further. But the guy used Corel Draw to further help me reduce to 3.98MB.

If you're anywhere near the Computer Village, Ikeja, I can describe the particular cafe I did mine from. Very easy and on the road.

@allhavesinned, Yes I think you will have to fill separate forms for each individual. However, you can get to do it all on one single online profile(Primary Applicant's) so all can be treated together as a family. Just make sure to answer the questionnaire adequately to be able to generate your "documents checklist" to include that of your accompanying family members alongside yours.

I’m really surprised that I need tax clearance for visiting Canada for a few days. With that said. This tax clearance thing is it the FIRS tax clearance or the tax receipt we pay to the government- I mean those payments made through proxy’s that come to our offices. I hope I laid my question out right

@bigcil2, while including your coy tax clearance further strengthens your application, I don't think it is compulsorily a necessity because I did not include it in mine and was approved recently. If you have it, use it. If you don't have it, then don't sweat it.

However, I must also stress that you shouldn't be looking to use funds inside your company account as your only proof of funds. While the company statement of account shows your source of income, I think they don't expect you to mix biz with pleasure, so you should have a personal account for your personal expenses. It is of my opinion that it is better to support your application with a personal statement of account with substantial amount that can cover for your trip and even leave good cushion(as they don't expect you to spend all you have on a one week trip). Except this is a business trip, I don't think your company account as only proof of financial capability can fly. Just my thoughts and from what worked for me.

Do your homework before applying please.

Good question, I know many times here many of us talk about tax clearance/certificate which is confusing sometimes.. let me put it this way..

The 7m in your account is not a net profit, it's your gross profit which needs to be taxed so as to know your actual take home profit.

Your tax clearance/certificate shows that and it also show the state of your business which will indicate whether you will be able to afford the trip to Canada.

You don't spend your gross profit on leisure trip, you spend your net profit leaving you with your gross profit to keep your business running and it also serves as your tie to Nigeria.

If you present the 7m as a business man how will the VO know how much out of that 7m is your gross or net profit?

@bigcil2, you have a very good response here by @justwise. Thats why I believe supporting your application with a personal bank statement(sufficient enough for trip and extra) will clear the VO's worry about gross/net et al.

Lol! My nysc employer was quite flexible. However you had other experience to make up right? I needed my nysc experience because I didn't wanna use a particular employer for the ee process and that now dropped my experience below 3yrs so nysc made up for the short fall.

@vcole, is your nysc NOC the same with your other work experience NOC or they are different? I just want to know if one can only combine experience that falls under the same NOC or one can combine from different NOCs.

Offer Letter says he is employed as an ASSISTANT MANAGER but did not say he is an HR ANALYST. If Employment Reference Letter now reflects the HR ANALYST job role only, hope it will not be an issue for the VO?

Speaking of IRCC as recipient,

1. For someone not already in the EE pool, does it mean that ones ECA is concluded, IRCC automatically knows you're planning to immigrate?
2. Or does it mean that its been logged in an online platform(accessible by IRCC) and they will ONLY know of the candidate's immigration plans and access it when you enter the EE pool, get ITA and quote ECA reference no?

My PPR story.
I am not a fan of travelling so I invested in professional and academic qualifications with an MBA, MSc and chartered qualification, I couldn't achieve my goals. So from the the days of Zandora and Dupsyshoo, I joined to read and just read updates for several months. I wrote IELTS with contribution money and requested for remark when my writing was scored 6.5 and later it was upgraded to 7.5
My WES was smooth with help from a friend who paid part of it. I started this journey as a trial and ran to Australia nairaland because of POF. I came back when the process wasn't favourable.
It became more real with ITA on March 1 but the worse happened. I lost all the money I raised for POF to Ponzi Schemes between February and April. From GHW to MMM, all my life savings was gone. And to make maters worse, I lost my job too.
Life became meaningless and I was in debt so I relocated back to stay with my parents and they have been feeding me.
From giving people money, I could no longer afford recharge card and I scampered around for POF. I submitted my application 6days to deadline.
I was stuck later because my POF showed review required in my GCMS. Its was written in capital letters that THE PA HAS FALLEN BELOW REQUIRED POF OF 12,300. And my case was left to pure discretion of the Visa officer and the hand of God.
Today its PPR because I never gave up, I knew my downfall wasn't the end of my life and that someday I will smile again.
Nothing can stop you except you chose to stop.

Sir,this is where you have to be the VO yourself and ask What and what do you want to see and which is important.if your account statement number of Pages can be reduced,like print online and take to bank for vetting or bank should assist to spool in fewer page(even though they like more pages for more money).Ensure you have the key documents for this section and if possible move others Proof if means of Fin. Support to Letter of explaination.
You may also try using ms word or break your PDF into single pages and further compress some pages with very very less vital information (e.g change some pages to black and white and leave maybe cover page coloured

Its a lot of calculation to get to 4mb from 9mb without losing image/doc. Sharpness.

@Travelpes, thanks a lot sir. I really appreciate your time and input. I tried all I could with all these online compress pdf sites, online2pdf.com gave me the best compression but still wasn't enough. So i decided to get help at a cafe, and the guy sorted it out under 20mins. He edited each of the pages with corelDRAW and it all came back at a lil below 4MB. Thanks again, God bless.

@vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv, pls how did you go about compressing files to 4MB max for upload to Proof of Means of Financial support for your application. I've been struggling with getting my file size to 4mb. I have a total of about 60 scanned pages for that section and I have compressed online to 9.3. Even sites like smallpdf.com says 'your file has already be compressed well and our magic can't do any better' . The only place I got further compression was on ilovepdf.com and it got very blurry and hard to pick out the printed letters on the files. I don't know what else.

Please help me weigh in o my people in the know. Thanks as always.

Nope,I suggest you don't cos your wife's profile also has sector for travel history.

No, it doesn't have that sector. Since we're submitted together online as a "family application", the document checklist generated for us only have travel history under the Primary Applicant Sector. For the Family Member Sector, the only documents populated are Application form(IMM5257), Family Information(IMM5645), Passport, Digital photo. Then OPTIONAL ones are another IMM5257 and LOE.

I'm thinking to just put her travel history in the LOE section together with her job references and bank statement as advised earlier.

Both @travelpes and @jayfierce nailed it. However, for the family photo part, i included those in proof of relationship, that's if you have a relation who is permanent resident.

Every other document in Q3, i appended to POF.

1. Some times files get corrupted and cannot be opened. Open and view it to be sure it's still okay before uploading.

2. You can add them to POF. I'm a stickler for everything in its rightful place. If the section says upload CAC docs, then do just that.

3. I think you can/should combine hers with yours in POF. That section encompasses all funds that you have access to.

4. Letter of explanation would suffice.
