WOCKHARDI:That is why easterners like you are accussed of not "knowing" what they truly want. One time it is the cry for Biafra; another time it is Restructuring and Fiscal Federalism (junk Wiesel words) and another it is the second Niger Bridge. Now Contractors are mobilised to site on the 2NB, yet to you easterners do not need it............ |
sirfemoz:You were told work has started on the bridge by who? Are you so dumb not to read or listen to news, yet rely only what "you are told"? your hero did not pay contractors and they abandoned site. Your hero visited the site and was shown only the drawing/plans yet campaigned with the same bridge after 5years of promise |
seguno2:1. You are not saying anything new or what we don't know about. Reality is do we have "Free" and "Compulsory" education as Law in Nigeria today? No. Until then, the govt can only work within the limit of the current laws and encourage parents to send their kids to school |
Candybob:1. Ease of doing business is not about region or central. It is simply a process review and re-set. There can be unnecessary bureaucracies even at state level. Lagos state just streamlined and had an ease of doing business policies and process in the power sector under Fashola's regime. This was imperative when Lagos state looked inwards and saw that it's internal processes was mitigating against investors doing businesses and NOT about tribes or not in Lagos. Today, check any data, Lagos state is about the first stop for most investors.......This is what the FG is trying to do with the new policy 2. Registration of business is not about decision making at the point of registration in this context. It is about fluidity in the process, to the extent that all regulatory requirements can be sought and most likely fulfilled within the shortest possible time. Even if you have regional system, there are things that will be within the remit of the FG, as such, the target business will still need to go back to the FG. I hope you know that CAC cannot be a regional organisation, so the regional argument should not even come in 3. Decentralization is not always about oil. But making the system work more productively.Really!!! then why are you and I in argument.....you better tell that to your friend that needs the education, yet you're defending himwink2015: .......... The idea of sharing the oil and gas money of the good people of the Niger must stop. |
Candybob:Keeping it simple, Ease of doing business and restructuring of the country.... how do they mix? is one a condition precident to the other? You lot just process issues from wrong perspective. This is talking about refining the ability to execute investments and commerce. It is not even talking about Oil specifically |
seguno2:1. You did not read my submission well. Govt has made education free.......but the prerogative to take it is with the parents. Our laws does not allow you to "force" kids to be in school. 2. I agree with you in part on the conditions of learning environment......but you need to cut some of the goverments who are building new school environment some slack 3. I am not part of the people who define our narrative using other people's. UK educational system is a good benchmark but should not define us in totality. We must have our own local content |
This title is at variance with the body and the true picture of the Ease of Doing Business Law. OP? |
Thatitan234:I was wondering why nobody has pointed it out till I got to you. About 30 people before you ignored or missed this part. Welcome to NL where people read only the headline and go to town with their own narratives |
wink2015:Classic case of comprehension deficit. You need to go back to read what the topic is about or better still ask someone to explain it to you. |
seguno2:1. Numbers 1 and 2 are already in place, depending on how you view it. Public Pry & Secondary education is free. Compulsory? may be not, cos the prerogative is still with the parents. That is why for example school feeding program and conditional cash transfer is targetted at incentivising parents to send and keep their children in school and also allow children to be immunized; not to talk of the targeted 10k PHCs in all Local govts 2. Comprehensive, graduated taxation? This is a mouth-full, but be that as it may, the tax law actually "attacks" the rich. For example, CEO's are now taxed based on a comparative evaluation of income. Gone are the days when a CEO or business owner can pay himself very low salary on paper (while all his expenses are deemed company expense) so as to avoid paying huge tax. Tax agencies now have a template whereby there is a benchmark for a category of CEO's of related organisations - Hypothetically speaking, If the CEO of GLO likes, let him earn 50k on paper, he may still be required to pay 1.5m in taxes |
bbmate:They don't reason at all...........when everything is about "shop"coolestchris2: :So they should allow u on the express way while the contractors are still working there? Some of u don't reason before typing! |
greenpasture:True dat. I think in the proposal, Registration to action commencement of the business will be domiciled in a single office instead of CAC - -POLICE- FIRS - BANK etc |
weedtheweeds:Suwegbe!!!! ![]() You even had to go back to this thread when road construction is going on at its peak!!!! Wailers are Buffffffoooooooons!!!! ![]() |
thestevens:The CBN governor will be allowed to complete his tenure. He's from the East and if he's sacked the nay-saying "yeasterners" will cry to the heavens |
SamuelAnyawu:We thank God...... Can you also express appreciation to the much maligned Tinubu, who mentored and put Osinbajo forward |
emmygzy:Fashola has told you from Day ! that your GEJ's myriad of abandoned projects needs to be cleared and it does not make sense to take on new ones when we have about N12trillion excess in abandoned project. I know you cannot process that....... |
EternalTruths:Why should govt. build new power stations only to sell them to private companies? Why bother building when you can simply privatize and get the private companies to build from scratch You see why you should not get into discussions beyond your intellect? |
sheyi2me:This administration set a new record of over 6GW last year before ND boys commenced the blowing of pipelines |
emmygzy:Jonathan finished what? you mean "finished them" cynically speaking. |
EternalTruths:Why are you talking beyond daft, more like a daft illiterate...... "install new turbines and privatize new power turbines". Do you even know what turbine is? |
The same backside got you the grades shey? |
EternalTruths:You like being ridiculous shey? New turbines with what Gas and infrastructures? the ones your ND boys dey blow up? |
This is what Fashola advised people like Prof. Maurice Iwu. How can we have people who are researchers and we don't fund them to do research. Thank God the Govt. has restarted then research drive. For those of you condeming this move, you think too small. This Medicinal Rice, when successful, will not be for Nigeria alone, but the market will be for the whole world. Researchers in advanced countries are actually excited at collaborating with those in emerging economies |
omofunaab:You'd rather believe facebook frivolous pictures and news on SM that turns out to be fake? I hope you are conversant with the current trend of apologies on SM over fake news, tweets and retweets |
dudebuck:Like who? The army of Biafra?.....becos the last we checked they have subdued the biggest menace in Africa - Boko Haram!!! |
futurewise11:...and you remove the specks from your eyes 1. I guess when virtually all states are working hard to increase their IGR through creating enabling environment and seeking for investors... Fayose blatantly told the world that he's not interested in that......and that he will empower his people through ...well you know how he has empowered his people 2. It is ironic that you can saw "plenty" in reference to Amosu, can you even mention "few" in reference to Fayose? pls name 10 roads Fayose has constructed? in fact let me reduce it to 5 sef. |
israelmao:See self delusion............. |
Akinaukwa:Bros, He's flagging off a project he will not start |
ephi123:In fact I will probably quote you the last time as you're boring me with your pedestrian reasoning. 1. APC had nothing to deliver? What a ridiculous assertion. Even the topic in discussion centers on one of the "deliverie0s" of APC. But of course you will feign ignorance of it cos GEJ's government were building roads in Mars. 2. Pls show me where it is said that Aso Rock clinic is not maintained. That PMB is in UK on medical, so? has governance been grounded? PMB was so honorable to hand over to the VP (something PDP president wanted to take to the grave). Since PMB left, has governance stopped? (something that was embarrasingly the other of the day in PDP era). Osinbajo has toured the breath of South-South and East, he has performed executive function to the limit........... 3. The list on GTBank disabling Naira Mastercard on foreign transaction is your example on what? it is obvious you just see thing happening and you do not understand zilch. Why don't you furnish yourself with some education. Right or wrong, this is happening becos the CBN is trying to defend the Naira. But I must say that your ignorance is not suprising. You are not perturbed that the foreign reserves was on a free fall and needed defending, your concern is on some paypal and facebook transactions of individuals? It is unfortunate........which makes me to ask, are you still in school? |
Yampotatocarrot:1. In a scenario that someone else is given the ministry of power, whoever the person is, it will still take some time before you see a quantifiable result. Comparing power vs works is like apples and oranges. If you fix or built half a kilometer of road today, even when you move your machines to site, people will see and appreciate the result almost immediately. Power projects on the contrary does not come into fruition until the last bit of device is fixed, the last clause of contract is executed and the last dispute is resolved (Geometrics vs Enugu Disco) 2. Yes the ND boys have stopped blowing up pipelines, but the damage has ripple effect. At a meeting a collegue attended, he told us that Shell is not predisposed to repairing Trans-forcados pipeline again. The last one they did was blown up a week to recomminssioning. Do you think Hague will endorse Shell Nigeria to do another one when there is no guarantees that these boys will not pick arms again. Even the FG has signalled that TFP will be sold off to a mid-stream company. So that is still a problem that needs a longer term solution. If ND is not rebuilt sufficiently to the glare of the world, and Amnesty is not promised for another 10yrs (hypothetically speaking), nobody can guarantee...... 3. Bros if anybody is taking about rains, they are talking about power-plants that has to do with water, essentially Egbin. Egbin is a thermal+Gas powered plant. If water level is low, they switch to gas and conversely during the rain, they use more of water. People should not get the wrong impression that all our power-plants depend on rains 4. The approach Fashola's team adopted for power is sustainable. The next minister has his work cut out for him already. We simply harness the natural resources of each area to generate power - Gas power-plants close to the Delta, Coal power-plant in Enugu, Hydro plants around the dams, Wind power-plant on the high-lands, Solar powered plants in the arid North. These are project that some of them require about 18months to complete. During these say 18months, you will not see any addition until the last bit is complete. 5. I hope you know that our distribution lines and business was a mess before Manitoba came in. Manitoba itself has been released, most likely because they hardly made any significant addition to the grid. So as we speak today the grip peak capacity is about 7.5 GW, and our potential peak capacity (if all plants are fired up and working ) is about 6.8. What that means is that if an additional 1GW is added from these upcoming new power plants, the grid today cannot take it. So the reason for another investment in grid. How many ordinary citizen will understand this situation and the need to be patient? In summary, power problem is a marathon and we just left the starting point |
akoko11:I am actually talking to people who can comprehend |
ephi123:weak excuse. Exchange rate will continue to grow if you have a govt like GEJ's that refused to build reserves to withstand and fight to defend the naira against the dollar. If a govt continues to be import dependent and refused to sacrifice to build local capacity, then there little you can do. Funnily enough GEJ's govt benefited from previous govt, when he used $30billion of the $65billion he met in reserves to defend against recession, and the dollar. Did GEJ build the same reserve when crude price was at an all time high? |
