It stands logic on its head to tell a lie because you are trying to paint the picture of "truth". If you care to know 1. The Corper/Teacher went against the laid down rules of the ministry of education in the state as concerning mode of punishment to students 2. The Policeman father went against the law by assaulting (no where is the brutalizing angle to it anyway true) the teacher 3. There was a peace meeting to resolve the issue in the presence of the state ministry official and top police officials in the state. At the resolution, both the corper and the policeman were reprimanded and declared guilty 4. Each party has apologised to each other and moved on. Doug07034780891: Among the 3 states only Anambra has a commercial quantity of oil and should be declared oil producing state immediately with all it's benefits. Anambra owned Orient petroleum has been drilling and developing it's oil wells for the past 3yrs. The 2 others state has a marginal un-commercial quantity. Investors do not waste their resources in exploring un-commercial deposits. The Oil exploration and production cycle is not limited to putting Oil rig in a place and then knocking the govts door to ask for 13%. Politics › Re: Fashola’s Ministry Frustrating Us, Says Ambode by mapet: 8:04am On Mar 10, 2017 |
potent5: There are two categories of lawyers who can be made SANs: law lecturers like Osinbajo SAN or lawyers who do advocacy in court like Akpamgbo SAN. There is no middle to the best of my knowledge. Fashola was not a law lecturer, so he belongs to the latter group (lawyers involved in courtroom advocacy). At the last time I checked, to qualify as a candidate for SAN a lawyer engaged in courtroom advocacy must have about four judgements on cases handled at the supreme Court (lost or won), judgements on several cases at the Court of Appeal and numerous at the High Court. I have access to thousands of cases decided before Fashola became a SAN but I haven't come across decisions where it's said that Fashola appeared for an Appellant or Respondent. Pls if you've seen any pls refer me.
Being a SAN is no child's play. That's why someone like Osinbajo stands out wherever he goes; he's known for his intellectual exploits and not necessarily as a VP. But what is Fashola known for other than as an ex-gov? What outstanding things did he do as an ordinary lawyer before he became a SAN. Now, assuming, without conceding, that there is any other criterion for SANship in which Fashola was outstanding as a lawyer, pls let us know and stop being a child. So I woke up and this is what I see? Boy, I think you are wasting my time 1. To keep it simple, there is a body called Legal Practitioner's Privileges Committee, a body that review and make the recommendation of those who will be SANs. I believe simple logic will require you direct your useless question as to why Fashola was made a SAN 2. There is a procedure on the Guidlines for the Conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Where in that procedure did it say a lawyer must win a particular number of cases at whichever courts? 3. What is Fashola known for other than an ex-gov? is an idiotic question. Did Fashola scale through the LPPC? if yes, then you have no basis to question his being a SAN (Meanwhile, he became a SAN almost 14yrs ago, I guess you must be in diapers by then or reasoning is) 4. When I see you mention Akpamgbo, then I must tell you that my impression is that you have little or no compass for integrity. |

You either show your advocacy prowess through cases handled at all levels of superior courts of records or intellectual acuity as an academic. Which did he show as an exceptional lawyer to qualify as a SAN other than cronyism? 1. I would rather be prouder to have a Fashola as a father than to have an intellectual misfit like you as a son. One would have expected a rational step of google search to understand a process than give yourself away as lacking in substance 2. ...and I assume you got this your concocted criteria is from the LEGAL PRACTITIONERS ACT of Cambodia? |

Before you lot start hyper-ventilating on sensational headlines (I watched the press briefing), these are some of the things you should know
1. The Airport-Oshodi road had actually started in 2005 or there about by the Tinubu administration. Julius Berger had moved in on site and started claiming the set-backs. That was the period Senator Seye Ogunlewe was the Minister of works and a sworn enemy of Tinubu. Ogunlewe's boys led by DAKOVA (David Adekunle Vaughn, the popular fashion label of the 800s-90s, was a personal assistant to Ogunlewe) led a team of thugs to stop JB. JB was summoned to Abuja and told in clear terms that they should hands off that project else they loose the "myriads" of projects in Abuja
2. When Fashola was governor, he restated LSG's intent to do that project and tied it to the billions owed Lagos by FG. But the PDP led FG were seemingly not interested
3. It will be ironic that the same Fashola will be the one to stop or frustrate this project. This is where I want to believe that Ambode should have been more diplomatic. First off, it is NOT a LSG ROW, and secondly the FG is so indepted to states that singling out Lagos state alone for refund may not be feasible nor wise.
4. Besides, a larger perspective is to rebuild MM1 into a world class airport. This will encompase the Airport, Rail system, underground tunnels and the Road. If this is the case, then embarking on the road project at this time may not be in alignment with the larger plan, cos when the Airport is later rebuild, they will impact on the road
I think we should read The Guardian version, which is more "matured" and gives a better perspective |

What is the sensational in this story Are you the only person that is yet to know that Fashola hates Ambode's guts and would do anything to stop his shine With Ambode's fantastic work rate so far,he has shown that Fashola was nothing more than a glorified horticulturist governor,he was only busy planting flowers here and there and taking the work of traffic police by jumping into the road to arrest military officers driving on BRT lane. What an asswipe However,Fashola is already a LOSER cos Ambode is doing well and Lagosians are seeing his work and love him. That coming from me should tell you the guy is good Stop whose shine? Ambode and Apc in general rode on Fashola's performance in governance to win over people's heart.
Ambode was having a rough and not well attended campaign uptil the moment Fashola came in during his campaign at Agege..The crowd that came to see Fashola and support APC was overwhelming..
So please stop typing rubbish about fashola's government or Fashola himself..Without his performance Apc wouldn't b recognised. Let these village kids be talking nonsense........The masterstroke for Ambode's election that made him win overwhelmingly was Fashola's well articulated letter to Lagosians a week to the election, especially after the controversial "Lagoon" statement of the Oba of Lagos |

Blue3k: Sure they can. They can always change the law. Besides exuactive orders are only enforcable if lawful.
@mapet looks like the plot thickens ounce more. Any thoughts on this? I only wonder how these unregistered foreign vehicles make it for sale. The people caught with them naturally should end up in jail for have unregistered vehicle or not paying tax. Assuming this stuff is in system.
In other I have to register my vehicle every year or else get a ticket or go to jail. Skipping out on taxes is not an option.
I do also see other people's point when they say reduce clearing fees, currupt customs is at fault, the end buyer is usually victim, etc. Unfortunately we are witnessing the consequences of the rot both at the ports and boarders in part, and the corrupt nature of people. Vehicles that passed through the ports without paying duties are hurting the system; there is no other way to spin it. The Senate is just trying to play coy or seeking for unnecessary attention. "Collaboration" with the ports itself hurts the system and needs to be eliminated. That some corrupt custom officials allowed cars into the country with fake papers, regardless of the numbers is no justification to halt a process of the law trying to correct the system. What are the implications? 1. Loss of revenue to the government 2. Negative image to the country 3. Bad for economy and business - We have not properly envisioned the value we erode in our ports and border, Singapore probably makes as much as we make from oil, through their ports. A multiple approach to the system is sure welcome. Yes we need to address corrupt customs, but we also need to "discourage" people that benefit from the process. |
