MrMcJay:
There are news of nickel being discovered and someone is asking what next? Carry your headpan and go n mine it. At least, you'll stop asking foolish questions on Nairaland.

This economic recession that a lot of Nigerians are experiencing throws up a lot of opportunities.

For instance, since the price of imported rice has risen, a smart investor would go and invest in the local rice chain. Seek out local rice producers and get the price per bag. Contact nearby restaurants and bulk buyers and promise to supply them at wholesale price with the option of payment on delivery. Even if you advertise local rice on NL, you are sure of plenty customers.

Instead of benefitting from the opportuinty above, they prefer to drink N10 garri and use it to insult Buhari on NL.

Another opportunity in the Nickel industry is here again and some block.heads that posted above are fixated on fighting Buhari and wishing Nigeria fails.

Let me tell you a true story.

Sometime ago during the telecoms boom in Nigeria, an very smart Nigerian who I respect so much formed a company called Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services (EMTS). He put the basic corporate structures on ground and ran it as a startup.

Subsequently, he approached some Arab investors to invest in his company. These Arab investors were impressed in his company that they decided to buy a part of it. Today, that company is Etisalat Nigeria and he owns 40% of Etisalat Nigeria.

If you think you are too young, go and read up the story of the guy behind Sujimoto Construction.

Don't make the mistakes your fathers made. Seek out opportunities and take advantage of them.

Stop saying what you don't know. I got info from what could either be a reliable or non reliable source but going by what APC/Buhari is known for, you can't dismiss something like this just because it didn't follow due . Buhari doesn't follow due process. he was asking for emergency power but the truth is he is already exercising such power. Can you explain why Buhari would wake up one morning and sacked 12 VCs? He later admitted he goofed, saying he didn't know he doesn't have such power as a president. What president does that?

1. Absolutely YES! Governance is about arresting irresponsible people that put out falsehood in the media space. If you have not bothered to sit down and think about the large implication of it, then you must be silly. What if this news has caused some people to go on riots and lives are lost? You mean you are not able to draw a nexus between this irresponsibility and potential loss of lives?

2. I know you're a juvenile, either in age or reasoning or both. But one thing you must learn to do is, even with your hate-filled mind, be intelligent enough to think things through. There is no smoke without fire is the lamest and dumbest excuse adducible in this context.

Lol so please how does the general public and the media dept of the presidency differentiate between good and malicious content? Is there a yardstick? Of course there really isn't!

I'm a lawyer and like most other lawyers, laugh when people talk about court anyhow. So the presidency should charge media houses to court for whatever they feel is an infraction? The president in power suing media? Whatever judgement the court dispenses is going to be seen as mere planned work.. Politics is not a game of rights but that if skill.. It would utterly destroy him politically, not to even talk about the bogus process

The media houses help to ensure the govt is accoubtable. Let them do that.. The presidency should always explain itself not otherwise
1. It is interesting that you're a lawyer......yet.....hmmmnnnnn!!!!!!
2. It is share irresponsibility to put out unfounded/wrong/false stories in the media. Yes the govt has arms to addresses measures to media houses that goes out of line. See my example in 5 below
3. It sounds ridiculous to me for you to expect the media department of the presidency to defend what was falsehood on arrival.
4. It is within the ambit of the law to put a media house that misbehaves in their rightful place. If your law books did not tell you that................
5. In the days of Yar' Adua, Channels TV latched on an unverified news about the death of the presidency. NBC immediately suspended Channels TV. John Momoh dashed all the way from London and had started his apologies right from the Airport. Why didn't other media houses cry foul? Simple. Channels TV goofed and everybody knew it so.
6. I re-state that an example needs to me made to bring sanity to our "brown-envelop" ravaged media. It is share logic-gone-astray for you to expect that media outfit can just concuct lies, put it in the media space and you expect government to defend it

The responsibility is not of the media officer of the president to respond to all trash maliciously put out. Much more it is the responsibility of security agencies to get the people arrested and if they cannot authenticate their sources, they must be charged to court.........

The media officers of the presidency have serious jobs to do and not be embroiled in cheap shit of misinformation. It is until people start paying for consequences of mischief, that we will get serious. The people that posted this should be arrested....................

Africa, it's always very easy to destroy than to build. Why do we keep hearing this same story of demolition without prior notice?.... Who is really saying the truth here?... I dont trust some of these useless government officials though.
Truth is you don't need to "trust" the government. Building without permit is illegal. That is the premise. Permit obtained after a building has been put in place is not safe either.

If say in 3years time, any of those building collapses, you lot are the same that will come to blame government for not certifying the building.

I dare say let the government do their job

free2ryhme: :
cryfrom the comments of the builders, they did not mention if a permit was obtained or not. However, government should also follow the due process in demolition . Two wrongs do not make a right. Further, if Government cannot provide any affordable lands and accommodation why destroy what people are struggling to put together except its an environmental hazard. Wicked world.
Believe me, if the landlords had obtained permits, they would scream it in every sentence.
@free2ryhme,

1. There is no "due process" to demolition that was not followed. These "landlords" were living in denial.
2. I am talking as an "ex-victim". My factory was demolished in the demolition exercise of the old Ajelogo Market. Truth the market ex-co got the demolition notice almost 6 months prior. Some suggested going to court others suggested going to meet some Lagos big men.......nutshell the market was destroyed.
3. The same lie was put forward during the demolition exercise of Oshodi electronics market, when the traders lied that they were not informed. We later discovered that the Lagos state government had had more than 3 major discussions with the group even through eminent Igbo elders (see Joe Igbokwe's account http://saharareporters.com/2016/01/13/truth-about-demolition-owonifari-market-oshodi-lagos-joe-igbokwe )
4. Apart from seeking to do the right thing, many people are simply complacent. Truth is even to go via the right route, you must settle, but these routes are clearly spelt out in documents and people in the ministry of lands will tell you same
5. There are quacks and fakers within. Someone recently caught a driver of a local government that was caught going to sites, making fictitious claims and demanding bribes. When many of these supposed officials come, the simple thing to do is to collect all his data and go to the ministry or local government to verify his claims

@AfroKnight,

1. What I found amusing is that these landlord and the gullible bystanders resort to play the emotional card. They cannot claim not to know the right thing to do
2. The government is well within their right to pull down those buildings. Have we considered that any of those buildings could be in contention or the land marked for a different purpose according to city development plans?
