Adiola: Now I believe what alhaji dokubo said according to him there's no oil in lagos its all media lies and hype ...remember the media reported that the uk will receive the first crude on September 11 and today is 30th ,they are giving reasons so that by 11 sept they ll say lagos assembly blocked the process gosh! My governor is right afterall yorubas are taking this too far if we don't do anything now ,we ll become jokes in coming yEars I suggest you get out of discussions that your intellect cannot handle. A discussion is centering on the technical and commercial aspects of Oil and Gas exploration, development and production..............you ridiculously brought what Asari Dokubo, whose education probably has not gone beyond gun fighting in the creeks, into the mix...... At times I wonder if you guys go to school to learn ignorance Secondly don't you think is safer to ask questions and be educated than to sound dumb and ignorant? Obviously you don't know zilch about crude export and trading, yet rely on what the media said and directed your diatribe at the wrong people Be educated - Beyond the necessary government take (Royalties, PPT, govt share from profit-oil, and 13% derivation to Lagos state), Yinka Folawiyo it is who has the headache of selling the crude to whoever they choose - the UK company or anyother, and whatever time |

lordkhalifa: the law is it only effective in south , what happens to untapped solid resources in north why are they mining it privately, United state we practice there system of government practice resource control, Washington DC can't claim ownership of oil field in Hawaii, u can't mine gold from California and share it equally with Virginia and New York, every state has to control and explore their resources, then give some percentage to the federal government, u know too well that oil from Creek is the oil thing still holding us as 1Nigeria, high time we remit what they got from north into federal account let's share it equally the way we share oil from south You see, that is the problem with you lot. You just spew ignorance from an unlimited spraycan......... 1. The law guiding Oil and natural resources is applicable to all regions. That is why a broke osun state and a struggling Enugu states for example cannot touch the Gold and Coal deposits underneath the ground. When Nigeria was exporting Tin from Jos, did the money not go to FG purse? But to make it easier for you, please show us evidence that returns from solid resources in the North was not returned to national purse 2. Except I am discussing with some juvenile, you should know that the laws guiding oil exploration in the US and Nigeria are different. Even the US laws are not as direct as you interpreted it............ but on quick reflection, I suggest we rest it, since your input to me is not only factually incorrect, it is filled with hate |

Now oil has been discovered in their domain and they are jittery. God please let the maltreatment, killings, destructions and oppressions they meted on us befall any community in Nigeria where oil is found. NLers with ignorance x100000..... Please analyse how PIB was killed because it will "benefit" the oil producing community - I hope you will do so with section of any of the 3 draft versions of the PIB and not what was discussed in a beer parlour |

Oil in the creek is keeping us together, fine......and you think Oil in the creek is yours? The last I checked the Nigerian Laws clearly states that the ownership of anything buried underground belongs to the FG. So deal with it....... |

Onegai: A serious government will have started drawing up policy plans and TOC in the MOUs to different bidding companies to include a processing facility built nearby with a 30 year Buyback option (after 30 years, resell facility to a Nigerian conglomerate), 2 technological centres in collaboration with 2 universities in Nigeria (one in the parent state, we already have Unis that teach Metals and Metallurgy and have Departments for Mining. But they need strengthening and massive upheavals) and a 40% technology transfer rate (to encourage your own citizens to become more advanced to take.over eventually from the company). In other words, for every dollar you make in Nigeria, you must spend $1 educating a Nigerian to eventually take over your job. Singapore and Malaysia did it, others did it. The U.S. actively does it, so does Canada. They make private companies pass on skills to their local workforce. All this will advance us further.
Wake me up when we become serious. Because I've seen better policy makers on Nairaland and social media than in government. my only exception is that these are good suggestion, but put up with an air of arrongance....... The news is simply about the discovery. The ministry has not told you about the commercial roadmap. If you followed the ministry well enough you will observe that they have brought sanity and order into the business of mining of late. |

tayotemowo: Well in my opinion this isn't such a bad thing for Nigeria if PMB can be smart enough about the kind of people that are put in charge of the exploitation of the mineral resource. It's not enough to just dig it up and export it how about getting manufacturers of the industries that need it as a major raw material to come and set up shops in the country that way we can also export the finished goods it's used for. I can imagine what the company in charge of Ajaokuta steel mill had been paying to import that material and now we don't have to import that as stated above their are so many things needed now that nickel is used as a major raw material for. Well hope we're smart enough as a nation. Bros, You're mile ahead of the lot in deep reasoning. I understand that Namibia has diamond as a resource, yet you cannot export raw materials out of Namibia........ |

That is why leadership is different from management and worker-ship. People we keep mouthing Fashola is not an engineer don't get it. The Legal and commercial exposure of the Ministry of power may be worth double the requirements for engineering......that is why a leader is needed to galvanise the mix |

What you people fail to realise is that this is market forces at play.
1. Gencos must make money, so they must generate more 2. Government must deliver power on a sustainable basis, so Fashola agreed and implemented the new price regime, that will encourage investors to further invest in more power 3. Discos, whose "gbese" keeps counting day-by-day, cannot but push power to us consumers, so that your credit will run down and you will come and buy more.
So everybody wins
The other thing that we should watch out for is the major regional power Gencos 1. East - Prof. Barth Nnaji's coy 2. North - The Solar power consortium 3. West - Flurry of IPPs 4. South-South - Benin, Akwa Ibom etc
These and many will help free the long-mile grid transmission as what is generated in these areas will first serve these regions and only the left overs will be sent to the grid |

rusher14: Although I think this coincides as usual with the rainy season, it would do a world of good if you specified your location. Nope. The reason is because 3 Hydro power had recently increased their generating capacity by 100%. Even if the rains increase, if the turbines are not fired up, you will get nothing. Imagine when ND avenger stop blowing up pipeline and about 7 Gas power station comes on stream with over 2GW |
