Honestly naija has a long way to go.......In other countries such don't happen, for example in USA whatever level you are in politics no one knows when they pass.

But here in naija all road get blocked just because a certain person elected for one post can now uses the influence to ride on the people who voted them in.

Naija polithiefs i hail una ooo.
Wrong. In US, the President and the VP moves with all the paraphernalia of escort and security. New York's traffic in most commercial places is hell. Park avenue in New York is always a log-jam during working days. That's why the rail substitutes it. Even at that, many people that will drive dread the traffic.

New Jersey is another horrible place traffic-wise. Currently some road constructions is going on, the mammoth bridge is being reworked........

Joburg with their modest population and one of the best road/infrastructure networks in the world, faces the challenge of traffic at rush hours

In summary, traffic is one hell of a headache for cosmopolitan cities. Even with rail system available, it's something that will require management all for a long time.

Own the license[b/] if that is what you prefer!! Like you didn't understand my point. undecided

[b]BUT

Do you think its right for an Individual/ portfolio coy to be contractors/custodian/License holders as you are claiming with zero technical expertise in the fieldhuh?

Tell me how many of them actually utilise the licenses, they in turn contract it out to major oil coys like folorunsho alakija did with chevron on the agbami oil field& danjuma did with Agip.

Minus the relationship to the govt of the day, what other criteria was used for the awards?

Get off your high horse, we are not all ignorant, neither are all objection malicious..

It is wrong, that is all!! I'm no tribalist..
1. As much as I try to hold off, your ignorance still amazes me. Please accept that your knowledge of oil and gas is not beyond what you skim from pages of blogs and online news.........
2. The PSC regime clearly states that the FG is the OWNER of all Oil and Gas assets. Producing communities and by extension states are other stakeholders. In a PSC arrangement government is the owner of all assets including the one you put on ground
3. Who told you companies have zero technical expertisehuh Please educate us and name the companies that have zero technical expertise.
The question of what is fair is relative. First off, the Federal government offer licenses for take either in bid rounds or discretionary awards. In bid-round it's a case of winner takes it. You outbid your opponents, you get the license. In discretionary awards a lot come into play. Yes ex-heads of states, government officials and friends are given these licenses, but not free of charge. These people then go look for foreign partners.
4. In the industry, you cannot even operate the license if you don't have the expertise and war-chest. Many of these OPLs are lying there for over a decade because the owners cannot secure the requisite investments to explore not to talk of development and production. Imagine if you're to invest $100m in exploration and you find nothing. This explains the foreign investors presence.
5. Your Alakija angle just sparks naivety on your part. Even before she came into the scene, many indigenous producers had partnered with multinationals on working equity basis. This is the fastest way to develop an asset at a relatively quicker means and will not put a huge debt burden on you. Besides banks are slow to fund exploration exercise. So if banks wont fund exploration, is it not better to solicit the assistance of the multinationals who have the resources and experience?
6. If you want to know what criteria was used for award of license, you need to go to the NNPC website and read it up. Yes some friends of the government get the license and it cuts across all tribes.
7. On this, you're flat-out ignorant. Please stop flying ridiculous statement from a more ignorant Senator Enag. Ownership of oil asset is NOT 75-80% North......

If not handle well, it might backfire.

In as much as you're entitled to your argument, the part in bold is a question you should refrain from asking. Oliseh it was that will personally call all his team members on phone, to make sure they come for a forth coming match (something he learnt from Keshi and he took to new heights.)

Oliseh it was that asked the coach to put him in a match Nigeria was about to loose, despite the fact that he was down with Malaria..........

Dude, I know u can be objective tho annoyingly partisan.
This list wasn't worth the wait. If it had been released a month/2 months ago, we wouldn't have an issue, But after the LONG wait and the talk of a Technocrat based executive, you now get a list of 80% politicians with a smattering of technocrats, the list leaves a very Sour taste in d mouth.
Take a small census around ur area and you'll realize how disappointed ppl are.
Its still largely pay and reward and we're getting disillusioned.

P.s; this whole talk of who voted who is getting old and deviating from issues. Let's call it as we see it.
Good you admit I am objective. I have no apologies for being partisan as there is not a single soul who is 100% non-partisan. Are you?

Neither the president nor his party promised you a 100% technocrat ministers. The delay, as explained by the president on many occasions was to enable him institute rule/principles of engagement for his new team. He said it severally that he needed to clear the mess and rot left behind by PDP chop I chop ministers. Should he have continued with the same rotten system left by PDP where many ministries had several bank accounts they didn't even know exist? I wait for your answer.

My point remains very valid: those who have been nominated have largely been around the president during the campaign and it gave an indication to very reasonable people of the kind of ministers we were going to have. To pretend not to know smacks of stark ignorance or pure insincerity on the part of those who feign ignorance.

Now answer this question: Did you ever want the president there? If yes and feel disappointed in the list, can you reasonably claim not to have expected 80% of the names on that list? Stop fooling yourself around mister and face reality.

At the end of the day, getting the job done is not about the so called technocrats as ministers. It's about the type of leadership offered by the president and his vice. After all, we saw the last regime with many technocrats who delivered pains sorrows and sufferings.
Stella Oduah and Diezani were technocrats........

Hey, hold it there before you spill more trash... At this age you should be in the know that SW has the highest illiterates in the South of Nigeria despite the over-hyped Awo's free education and Yorubas' much taunted 'sophistication'.

Google will unravel some truths to you. Just follow the steps hereafter and search for:

1* the States/region in Nigeria with the highest enrolment rates into the universities in Nigeria

2* the States with the highest JAMB cut-off marks for universities across Nigeria

3* the States/region with the least out of school children in Nigeria

4* the States/region that are required to have very high score for admission into the Unity Schools in Nigeria in the last decade

5* the State with the highest number of professors in Nigeria

6* the region with the best MDGs attainment

If you don't find your Yoruba tribe leading in any of the 6 categories it then means your ranting is senseless, and as far as the Igbos are concerned you remain a piss in the wind!

Ignorance indeed is a disease and an educated illiterate is even worse off.
Well It's unfortunate that I have to deal with another bigot.......

Bros,

1. The issue is not about Igbo vs Other tribes, except you want to make it so.
2. I do not think it is sane to encourage needless bigotry. If some Igbos want to claim superiority of everything......they should please themselves......
3. But it is wrong to misrepresent facts and claims Igbos are marginalised. This classic case of quota system is one clear example
4. Quota systems was introduced to allow for a balance in access to a Federal asset (Unity Schools). It is only logical that since there are limited spaces, each state will be alloted numbers. So for example, if Enugu has 500 slots, Jigawa too will have 500 slots. Enugu CANNOT overfill their slots are take some of Jigawa slots. Quota system is simply a benchmark that says, we can effectively fill Enugu's slot if we set the cut-off mark to 65, most likely judging from students performance in Enugu, about 500 students (or a little less) will score 65 and above. Likewise can we effectively fill the Jigawa slot, as judging from students performance in Jigawa that about 500 of their students will cross the 17 benchmark score.
5. It is only fair that these slots are distributed evenly across all states.
6. Cut-off marks are not the real scores. They are benchmarks. 25 students from Zamfara (scoreing over 85%)could be among the top 50 best students, yet Zamfara can still have a cut-off mark of 9.

Now to the fools that sees everything as bragging rights (I lump you all together), this is the simple logic all your wasted education can simply not comprehend.

How can you as a citizen expect that it is only your tribe that should benefit from a federal government arrangement and expect there will be peace?

If these folks don't get it, tell your state government to make the cut-off marks for Notherners 350/100 in Eastern state-owned schools, if that will pacify their jaundiced and myopic thinking.

Bros,

Let me respond to your points.

1. If you flip this knot around as we try to understand it better, we should be realistic with our position on what is feasible. Even with the low cut-marks, some nothern states will not take up their quota. They will simply be under-enrolled.
2. The magnitude between the cutt-off marks goes beyond a moral questions. Under the current arrangements we run as a government, every states deserves their quota of the national cake; be it oil, ministeria appointment or Unity Schools.
3. A way to "bridge the gap" is for government to sell off all these schools and allow private owners to run it. There and then you will have cutt-off marks that is regardless of where you come from..........

Scholes007:
all you just said there is what we all know but the questions are, is the margine in cut off mark between these regions logical and morally sound?, is there no other way to bridge these gap without been bias?... Each state is filling its guaranteed quota in a federal education scheme designed for unity. It is not an admission based on academic merit but on compulsory NATIONAL representation.

It is nobody's business what low score or high score you require to fill up your own state quota. The high score only suggest better literacy indices in the South as opposed to the North.
No state is cheating the other, neither will any state yield its quota to another state until there's no candidate from the original state to fill their rightful quota.

The high cut-off score in the South is what internal competition demands to fill up their quota, while the low cut-off score in the North is what the low literacy levels ensure would fill up their own quota also.

Anyone who has no space to fill in their state quota can always try the myriad of state owned public schools or private school.
