On the deportation saga

1. Fashola claimed he wrote a letter to some of the eastern governors as was statutory......he remembered receiving a letter from Senator Akpabio when he was governor of some destitutes who claimed they were from Lagos...

2. Most importantly apologised as those issues/fault-lines should not affect our relationship...

1. You need to read section 85(1-5) to understand better. The Auditor Generals report is not limited to his report on the Accountant Generals Annual statement. It also covers all the audit reports of the audit assignments undertaking under section 85.

2. The president can summon or invite the AuGF for a strategic meeting. However, he cannot receive his report or ORDER him on how to carry out his constitutional audit assignments.
#2 for me show you did not understand the context of the session held with PMB. Even your cohort Barcanista pointed that out to you. Also considering the AGF oversight, if we were to go by your dogged (I dare say needlessP) recourse to constitution, the same sections gave a pointer to the scope of the AGF audit coverage. At what point did it exclude environmental audit reports on the drying-up of the Lake Chad?

While I applaud your need to defend the president, I think you could be civil. Attempting to insult me got you so wrung up you missed adding "you". Fixed that up for you. Now to my statement, I said if such an event took place, so calm down before you burst a nerve. And in response to your query, if the gap in my presentation isn't my purview, why would I then exert myself while the person with the job description sits down looking like a fool. It's plainly not my job.

It's a democracy bro, am entitled to my opinion and as you ain't paying my bills, I suggest you do the needful.
Don't worry about me busting a nerve.......I actually enjoying of late, point out ridiculous statements that emanate from NL. Back to the AGF, the classic ancient wisdom "be prepared" comes into play here. That's why it is the responsibility of managers (the AGF in this context) to have consulted his colleagues especially on areas of overlaps, and as much do a dry run of such presentation with colleagues, and not come in front of PMB only to sound ridiculous. Once a manager in position of leadership absolves himself of responsibilities, it's an indicator that he needs to be "absolved" of the job.

Thanks for pointing out that its democrary.....and I agree you're entitled to the way of your reasoning

Apologies to no-one but if anybody can still support the president after his mistake was highlighted(qho even knows if such an event took place), then for sure we have a long way to go in Nigeria. Am not a lawyer but if such event took place, then not only did the president fall foul of the constitution he vowed to uphold but also he risks being impeached.
And that's why I feel his action should be examined intelligently . Comparing him to GEJ or hailing him is tantamount to saying that we are a lawless society.
unfortunately people like know next to nothing and simply just type silly. what mistake did the president make? pointing out the incompleteness in the presentation made to him? In the corporate world, the Auditor - General's answer would have been deemed the stupidest. You're presenting to your CEO, points out a gap in your presentation, and your only answer is "it is not my job"?

TonyeBarcanista: Did the president invite him to table the brief or not?
I don't know if he was invited or not. But the constitution is very clear that all his audit report should go to the National assembly. Beside, the Auditor General does not take direction or orders from anyone.

Section 85 (5) The Auditor-General shall, within ninety days of receipt of the Accountant-General's financial statement, submit his reports under this section to each House of the National Assembly and each House shall cause the reports to be considered by a committee of the House of the National Assembly responsible for public accounts. (6) In the exercise of his functions under this Constitution, the Auditor-General shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other authority.
OMG! here we go again with comprehension deficit.
@seunmsg, before you go too far with your misguided interpretation of the constitution, note the following

1. Where is the report was it stated that what the Auditor General was presenting was the receipt of the Accountant-General's financial statements
2. Who told you the President cannot summon the Auditor General for a strategic meeting or presentation requiring his presence?

The decision to sell refineries is relative. Even if OBJ selling KD refineries to dangote had gone through, it does not totally eradicate the rot in the NNPC. Not all capitalist decision are expedient and benefitial to all. Sometime you need to keep some social services running for a longer period till people can come to par. The government thus comit to bear the cost of this "social service".

This is part of what you get when you have a super clueless leader.

1. Sell of those refineries.

2. Unbundle the oil industry and act only as the oil police. DPR.

3. Look for other viable sources of energy.
A clueless leader right?

I can bet you that in the administration of all the past Nigerian leaders, including and especially during the reign of your hero GEJ, NNPC and the FG could not even account for how much they were losing. Yet you think they were 'clue-full' and this administration clueless?

Routine losses from oil theft alone in the last 5 years stood at a staggering 400,000 barrels per day (appx $40million per day). If you do the maths for a period of 8months, that amounts to approximately 1.9Trillion; and this is from crude theft alone, not even mentioning every other gaping financial holes the NNPC under other administrations were known for. Yet someone thinks they were 'clue-full' and this administration clueless?

What we have here is simply a leadership which for the first time in Nigeria's history, now infuses financial accountability and transparency in its dealings. For the first time, someone is now making efforts to estimate and publish the estimated losses from the inefficiency in the system.

A wise man knows the first step in solving a lingeting problem is to first define and quantify its extent. But unfortunately, someone who appears to be possessed with the spirit of non-discernment thinks this sort of approach is a sign of cluelessness?
@obailala,

you have "spoilt" this thread with your intelligence. You should have left the confused folks in their journey to fools land.
First off, any sane person will realize that with the near derepair state and all the turnaround effort on our oil facilities, combined with the crude oil price, we are going to record a loss in the interim. Any sane mind will know that this repairs will enable increase in production volumes which should pay for the additional investment in say yr2 or 3 and beyond that phase every income now becomes profit.

But I guess when you're relating with some people, you wander how what is basic can become rocket science overnight

1. The licences are only awarded to cronies of the government of the day & done in utmost secrecy. it never gets in the public domain till it becomes a source of controversy..

2.The list of oil block licenses we've seen are filled with majority northeners & until another is brought out to counter that, that is the official List...

There are crops of young & vibrant biz ppl who can assemble consortium of investors to bid on these licenses but for the naija factor of [/b]man know man & political patronage...[/b]

We are discussing corruption & fairness, you are the one making it a tribal issue...

Miss me with the bamboozle tactics, I am no wailer,I am only stating the obvious.. undecided
1. So to you being a pipeline engineer makes you oil and gas savvy? oh Gosh! no wonder you keep making flawed statements. Spare me the stress on you keeping abreast of trends and events. You're way off any trend in the Oil and Gas industry or business.
2. Saying that Oil licences are awarded to cronies of government is relative. That it never gets to the public domain is a flat lie. Naturally government of the day will award licences to those they are favourably disposed to. That's the practice everywhere in the world. That's why business men "befriend" government, be it oil and gas, or merchandize. So I see no point in you stating the obvious
3. That the Oil and Gas business are filled with majority of northerners is flat lie. Choose to hold on to this lie at your oil peril. All sides of the divide are participants in the industry. Senator Enang's submission is dubious, it had been faulted many times. If you claimed you read wide and kept abreast of trend, did you miss the below article?

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/123588-the-north-does-not-control-nigerias-oil-blocks-by-toyin-akinosho.html

4. At this stage, I think you should stop sounding more ridiculous. Crop of young players in the Oil and Gas business today includes Jim Ovia, Fola Adeola, Tony Elumelu, Mofe Boyo, Wale Tinubu, Tonye Cole, Austin Avuru and many more that are not northerners.

Do you know about the story of Jeff Skilling and Enronwatergatehuh RockyFella and the Oil and Gas Business in the Early 1900s

No matter what is built on shaky foundation, it will come down. If MTN had been involved in various corruption, a simple spark that Masiyiwa is starting now could trigger MTN disintegration into pieces.

I hope Bolaji Balogun will also have the courage to tell his story on Econet one day. We were priviledge to have him address our class in Business School 6years ago, as one of the "Giant Industry Captains". His own side of the story will drill-down into Masiyawa's snippets. I remember Bolaji saying that if Econet had had an ethical orientation and stayed true to those ethos, the company's value would have been way much more than they sold it. he further went into analysis of how the company was loosing value with each sale, comparing it some board members greed. Imagine a board member having a near exclusive rights and being a supplier of diesel to cell sites.

We are better off having modest true successes than explosive corrupt success that will kaboom!!!

This revelations raises more and more questions. Did MTN pay the bribes to powerful people in government? How did they manage to hang on?
He mentioned Lagos and Delta, Who was the governor then in lagos? Why is he walking free while Ibori is in gaol?
There were allegations that MTN paid a certain percentage 'kickbacks' to the President (OBJ) on *1* to stay afloat, why was it swept under the carpet?
The halliburton scandal also comes to mind, OBJ the then president was implicated there as taking kickbacks, why is he not standing trials?

questions, question and more questions.
Don't get the facts twisted

1. If MTN paid bribes, it is not Strive's responsibility to state it as he wasn't involved and may not have known.
2. Tinubu was the governor of Lagos then. If Tinubu had asked Strive for bribes, don't you think Strive would have spilled the beans?
3. I'm not disposed to making allegations based on speculations. If OBJ took bribes from MTN, it should be in the public domain and backed by facts. If not they let's understand that they are mere speculations.
4. Atiku and not OBJ is implicated in Halliburton scandal. I am shocked by your twisting of facts or ignorance of facts.
