rozayx5: Ambassador Piko was a fulani ambassador at Nigerian Embassy in Tanzania, he could not write or read well, he forged a harvard certificate to work in the foreign service, my dad told me stories of hundreds of northern illiterates in the federal civil service and how they are disgracing us abroad. some even get educate SW or SE secretaries to write speeches for them. My dad (former diplomat) has been referring to Buhari as an illiterate for several years but i now believe him.
I know you didn't mean to, but you unfortunately portrayed your dad in a bad light here, i.e. as someone who has been feeding his children with A LOT of ethnic/religious bigotry and hatred, apparently repeatedly.

And the fact that you only believe your dad "now" about Buhari's 'illiteracy' means that even you yourself had NOT all along been buying all of the bigotry your dad had been trying to sell to you for all those years, until just now.

This is why we should always be VERY CAREFUL when bringing in our parents into a public discussion like this; we should ONLY mention them when we want the world to know how responsible and caring parents they are/were, and how much they have shaped and influenced our lives FOR THE BETTER.

“I am the above-named person and deponent to this affidavit therein.

“All my academic qualifications, documents as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary, Military Board as of the time of presenting this affidavit. The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purpose,” Buhari stated.

The truth is that the PDP lapdogs have run out of Ideas, defence and innovation. Everything has failed. Check the list

1. Reno a.k.a Wendel Simlin wrote a fake article linking SLS to Boko Haram. As usual, PDP keeps keeping incomplete IQ individuals. A whole Special Assistant to the President on Online media, never knew that there's something called Meta-data, that gives the trail of the origin of documents, computers and networks.

2. Ruben Abatti should probably have been cooling his behind in some debt ridden filth, if not for the magnanimity of GMB. Abati published an article lying that GMB directed violence of the 2011 election. When GMB laid a 1Billion Naira suit on Abati and Guardian for Defamation, Abati ran to Jona, who had to beg GMB for forgiveness

3. After all the shameless spins that did not work, PDP lapdog has come up with the stupidity of the certificate saga. The PDP themselves know the folly of this action, hence they've stated they are not interested in pursuing a dead end.

On the other hand, PDP keep distracting themselves. The APC have published there manifesto. Where is the PDPshuh I would have thought by now we will be having series of debates, so that parties can defend their manifestoes. We should not allow idiocy of the "Certificate sage" to deny us the need to properly assess candidates. Or are we going to have another situation where Jonathan will avoid another debate and choose to attend only the charade organized by NTAhuh

Amazing how people cannot apply logic to this simple issue. It is the same reason Nigeria is not likely to achieve its true potentials anytime soon.

Something like this happened with Barack Obama and Donald Trump but at some point Americans had to leave Trump to rant because following him on the issue would be tantamount to stupidity. The reverse is happening here in Nigeria, with people holding on to the stupid part and leaving real issues that affect them.

I believe there are minimum standard of Educational Qualification for everyone aspiring into an elective office in Nigeria.
I don't care what GMB has been presenting to INEC in the past, but if INEC is asking for his certificate then he should provide a proof of it.
Why is this even an issue? If GMB is given a waiver on this one, INEC will be setting a dangerous precedence.
INEC is not asking for his certificate. INEC had stated it is OK with what GMB submitted. I don't know if many of you guys are simply ignorant or choose to be. INEC has asked any dissenting voice to go to court and secure a court injunction if you need copies of the certificate....

whirlwind7:
My thoughts exactly.
The annoying thing is INEC's seeming complacency over the issue. As the regulator, umpire, screener and what have you, over all electoral affairs, why haven't they come out with a categorical statement over the issue, and put it to a final rest?
What criteria and or qualification did they accept when they accepted GMB as a contestant in the past 3 presidential elections and what changed between now and the 2011 election?
Bros,

There is nothing complacent in INECs handling of the matter. The issues is as clear as day. GMB has sworn an affidavit to the effect of his missing certs. The lists of his academic accomplishments are in the public domain. By law, the affidavit is the necessary step to declare the state of his missing certificates. GMB has sworn an affidavit, making him liable to any incorrectness.

The Onus is not on GMB to show any certificate, photocopy or whatever. He has chosen in his affidavit to refer to the Military Board, the custodian of copies.

The Onus is on anybody else who is not satisfied to prove otherwise. The social media war on GMB is stupid and unnecessary. All that is needed is to write to any of the institutions listed to authenticate what is claimed.

Bros,

1. I think I might of come across a bit wrong. Your path is entirely your discretion. You must follow your heart......
2. Since you're on track for a PHD, definitely you need a MSC.......
3. You may need good business exposure or MBA to enhance your shot at project leadership.....
4. You're on to good things
sirRiddy:
@mapet
Wow. That was lovely, sir.
Firstly, I want to go for a training in project management in order to arm myself with ample theoretical knowledge of the discipline. I am not in a rush to get certified, I just want to bolster my knowledge bank and get hands-on experience on projects. My six-month UG internship was in a PMO as a PM intern, that is where the interest sparked. I would just have to seek for volunteering opportunities in order to hone my practical skills on projects after my training.
Secondly, my masters in CS is not just another degree. Apart from a mastering of advanced concepts in
CS, my ultimate aim is to become a software/IT project manager. My adventure after my MSc would determine if I will opt for a PhD or MBA, the former being the more preferred option.
So, brother, I am not making wild decisions. They are well planned but as a flexible guy, I am always open to necessary changes and improvements.

bro this ur combination looks na wa ooooo. But why did you choose to do PGD instead of going through MSC direct? Ur experience might help a brother here.

Thanks a lot.
Bros,

1. I lost handle of my studies at a critical time during secondary school days, hence I messed up JAMB and was unable to secure admission into Computer Science in Unilag, so I found myself in LASU
2. I was determined to fight my way back to my first love.......so I went thru PGD and MSC. In my time, those without a first degree in computer science/computer related were required to go through PGD before MSC
3. But I've left IT. I am now in mainstream business.....which makes "real wa" again undecided
Education › Re: Thread For PHD Students by mapet: 10:25pm On Dec 19, 2014
My Brother,
1. I left IT 5years ago, after spending 9yrs. Although I majored in Information Systems in my IT career. Back in my IT days I went thru certifications ranging from CISA, CISM, CGEIT, Prince II, Oracle etc.
2. I was a part-time lecturer in one of the training institutions, I taught CISA courses, and computer studies....
3. In my company I was involved in business process analysis and improvement projects, and a lots of cross functional projects. I was involved in company's ERP projects
4. I decided to go for MBA to enhance my chances to cross over to mainstream business line. While I was in IT I discovered few things. (a) In the Oil and Gas Industry where I am, IT is not the mainstream business, so peak will be IT manager, and I was much more ambitious than that. (b) I discovered that success in many of the projects I was involved in required knowledge of the business. While I was teaching IT, I was inspired by the IT/Business Alignment. My business analysis exposure also made me realize that knowledge business was key for success
5. So I emptied my "treasury", with my investment to go to Business School.....my sojourn in business school opened my eyes a lot.......coupled with the fact that I must have distinguished myself in cross-functional assignment and project team assignments, hence caught the eye of my Executive Director, who offered me a position in Corporate Strategy......and that's what I've been doing for the past 5years.

So let's talk about you.....
1. Project Management - You can explore either PMP or Prince II. My Prince II license is expired, but if things still work like my time, you write 2 exams, Foundation and Practitioner. Yes you many need to get yourself into training institution. First get a project management certification....experience will come with the job. Since you're fresh from school, you have potential to pass Project Management exam, but you must study hard. Find any IT organization probably offer to work for free on a project, to gain project experience....
2. Having a Masters in Computer Science is a plus, may or may not enhance your progression. Since you have a first degree in CS, I think an MBA first could be a option....IT career is more of skills and certification driven and less of MSC., so you may need to consider that.
sirRiddy:
I like your profile, sir. I am a graduate of computer science with a flair for software development and project management. I want to do an MSc in CS too like you did. As you are into IT and business, I would like to seek your advice on how best I can foray into project management now that I have some time to spare. I have some literature to go through in a couple of months before NYSC in march, but I am also thinking of registering in a training institute so that I can be motivated enough. Would you be kind to tell me how to optimize my time and resources in acquiring good PM skills? Thanks.

Can an MBA student apply for a PhD in management?
You need minimum of 3.5 over 5.0 in MSc before you can apply for Phd.

With MBA getting Phd admission might be difficult. I also have MBA but looking forward to Msc management. My advice is that people should not bother about MBA instead go for MSc, since MSc management can also go for MBA but MBA cannot be seen as MSc in academic terms.
It actually depends on the school. I applied for DBA at GIBS, when I got the admission, I was told I have the option of choosing either DBA or PHD, and to hold my decision till the end of the second year. I believe schools could be making options available nowadays

I believe on his behalf other politicians would have dolled out millions of dollars to greedy delegates to vote for him... I have every reason to question his mandate and whether he is the messiah to save Nigeria..

In 1985 he single handedly created the problem we are experiencing today by tampering with a democratic government claiming to be a hero. This dude is 75 years old. I'm sure Amaechi is only using him as a vehicle to get to Aso Rock and replace Jonathan. But I rather have GEJ voted in because he is trust worthy and he is the Leader we need. Like I earlier stated most of you folks dont even have a basic knowledge of how the economy operates, therefore it will be a mumbo jumbo to you.

When I use the term average Northerner I am very correct with my ascertion, their mindset is all about oil and largesse from the centre. Example they are the ones holding the passage of PIB bill, a well articulated bill which if implemented would have adressed all the problems bedeviling us in the oil industry.

You are mentioning Sanusi but he did nt have much to do because the period he was CBN governor oil was in $100 range, if he was there now only God knows how he would have managed the financial crisis.

You can say what you like but the Agric and Automotive policies are very good and sound economic policies.
When I wrote I stated that GEJ has his faults, but comparing him to Buhari, he is a better alternative, and mind you Atiku's chances of clinching APC ticket is improving by the day, ignore him at your own peril.
Let me state it again peradventure Buhari wins next year elections, Nigerians should get ready for a major economic tsunami because he has got no clue concerning the economy.

Politics › Re: Buhari Live On Channels TV by mapet: 1:22pm On Dec 10, 2014
Madam
1. I need not be an economist to know something that is very practical. Besides my knowledge of Oil and Gas business spans almost 15years. I do believe I can converse on Oil and Gas economics/economies, which I have been adequately trained on. that said.....
2. Please stop regurgitating the shallow logic of some NLrs. the reference in stability of oil prices is as simple as you need to take it. I did not hear reference to the international market, so the question about him being OPEC is irrelevant.
3. Yes he can STABILIZE local pricing. There are ways to do that, either cosmetically or realistically. What Buhari was making reference to is to bring sanity into the Oil and Gas value chain. Why would Diesel sell for N150 in Lagos, then N170, N175 from Ondo to Bornohuh? Why would PMS leave depot at a realistic price of N96-N99, yet N97 is displayed on pumps. Why has NNPC for the past 10years not been able to account for specifically how much is made on products. Why was the disparities in proceeds that Sanusi raised the alarm. Why do we have so many billionaires made out the subsidy scams, why do we have lots of cutbacks, fraud and waste in the industry, yet you expect price to be stable. That is what Buhari is referring to. I think you lot should remember that Buhari was once petroleum minister, and knows the industry like the back of his hands.
4. Has this government ever truly drawn a clear picture of local consumption, from imports to distribution to consumption? What is the plight of the kerosene subsidy? (A useless move the embarked upon only to realize later that the move is counter-productive to both the kerosene business and the domestic gas aspiration).
5. I believe Buhari's position is legit. We should not talk of growth, new ideas etc being built on a faulty foundation. We should first address the root of the rot......which is corruption

blank:
I am sure you are not an economist. How will he stabilize oil prices? Is he OPEC? Or the buyer? And for him to mention the civil war which is a very touchy subject for a lot of people and use it as part of his ammunition for insurgency, it shows who little he cares about the other parts of the country.

He sounded very illiterate and unintelligent. It reminds me of the debate they all did, Ribadu, him and Shekarau. He was the worst of the lot and Shekarau did best. He had absolutely no ideas. Just making general blanket statements that had no bearing. Did you hear his views on education? Is corruption the only ill Nigeria has? Using Lagos as an example, is there no corruption? Has that hampered development? We need someone with ideas and the willpower to see them through.
