Adekdammy:Bros, I have come to the conclusion that there is no way we can assert what an ideal value of govt contract is. Even if you add the road "all-join" Nigerians will still complain. I believe we should focus on advocating that projects once started should be completed within reasonble time so that we can start to derive value from it. |
JohnieWalker:The contradiction in this statement of yours tells me you either were in too much hurry to sell "Lifetime Premium Grammarly Account" that you did yourself talking from both sides of the mouth. |
Lomprico2:You have asked a fundamental question Bros. I believe that we as citizenry needs to get off our ignorance-ladden high horses and begin to put to use our education (which in some cases looks like monumental waste). Except the OP is just trying to draw traffic or finger itching, his definition of "White Elephant" is clearly unclear or much more misplaced. My 2cents 1. Both projects ideally are good infrastructure for the location they are. 2. We are so bothered needlessly chasing "how much did it cost". Reality check is such posture in most cases is like beckoning to a vehicle that has long passed us by. Why are we not bothered on the value returns? I guess that takes some level of rocket science to some people...... 3. Have someone calculated the volume of people that the Oshodi terminal will deal with on a daily basis? How much on the average each will spend and how much accrues back to the state govt.Have someone bothered to consider that the Terminal also has as part of it a mega-mall, how accessible it will be to take a bus or train to Oshodi to do a major shopping? Has someone considered how this affects the value of properties and business in the Oshodi Axis? I went to assess a property in Oshodi last year, this is a property I will have to pull down the structure already on it before building mine. The asking price was N90m. I argued that why that exorbitant cost considering that the current building on the property is useless to me. The rep of the family simply pointed me to the Terminal (then at foundation level) and told me that by this year, the price would have gone over N120m. 4. It is also false that nobody is building terminals like this in 21st century. These can only be statements from people who has hardly left their villages. What I see cities do is to strategically (co)locate Terminals like these in central business communities with access to rail-lines, markets/malls etc. London underground and Jo'borgs Gauteng have been operating this model for a long time. |
Okoyeebos:thundafire: :It's either you're typing from one backward village with no prospects or you are suffering from factory fitted ignorance. ![]() Bros, You and @GavelSlam have just made my day with the sub on this "patently ignorant" guy. I laugh at times when some random "village rat" with access to cheap phones and data, post "emphatic-ignorance" about what they know absolutely nothings about. He talks about rail lines, but if he bothered to ask those living in Lagos or been to Lagos or looked at the diagram carefully, He would have discovered or they would have told him that Terminal 1 actually overlays an existing rail-line/proximal, as such the basement automatically replaces the old train station. |
GavelSlam:thundafire: :The attempt to educate you was a white elephant project. ![]() I couldn't have put it any "milder" and "better" |
ihatesycophant:There is no clap emoticon here else I would have given you........ but this is how you "immature" folks just read text and you think bamm! there goes........1. Let's start from your supposition from the scripture you quoted here.....Is it not about the quest to "manage his family" that he's come to you for advise? Did he come to you to tell him how "terrible/Mistaken/Bad/etc he is? The mistake you're making is that the guy in question most like is familiar with 1 Timothy 3:3-7 as I am? Does that answer his challenges where his life's longing is yet to be fulfilled? The guy is telling you he has a burden, he longs to answer his calling, yet his wife is threatening him with Divorce, threatening even the Pastor that invited him to start a ministry......... Don't you see that you have a case that needs real counselling for this couple? 2. How come you're quick to castigate this man for his quest to answer a spiritual call, yet find it tactfully convenient to excuse a wife (supposedly christian wife) that threatens to Divorce? My simple submission to you (and many others in your line of thoughts are these) You are far from being good counselors. You terrible listeners. You are quick to provide your answers, yet miss a lot on the small details. You jump to quote the scriptures, yet what you do with it does more harm than good. Think about this |
seunmsg:TBS terminus is looking beautiful 2yrs running |
ihatesycophant: ![]() ....except you're the same pastor he want to partner with.Oh! it has come to this? This is frustration at its lowest ebb you're demonstrating. I'm tempted to ask, are you struggling with critical reasoning or simply frustrated that your simplistic point have been punctured? 1. "God of Universal" ? What crap is that? to start with? So you want to tell me that in all situations, wives of prophets or spiritual leaders either in the bible or history have been on the same page with their husband? Then you are as ignorant as I imagine. Go learn your bible and your history.....2. God is not a God of confusion......absolutely YES. God also is not a robot guider. He gives man free will and that is why we do things out of our own volition until we submit to him. I laid a simple alternative reasoning, not only are you struggling with it, you get frustrated. What if God has actually revealed to his wife ........ and she is the one resisting? Why will a Christian wife threaten her husband with Divorce? You think everything in life is that simple? You think our simple reasoning is the only way God moves? What if it is actually the acid test for this guy in question, God testing to see if he can pass a simple test of winning his wife over, before he can entrust a Ministry to him. They guy came here seeking for advise, you lot roll out templates of condemnations, bringing extraneous issues outside the points he raised. The guy said he's prayed, and done all that......yet you cannot come up with deeper insights. I tire for you people with "unsound" minds 3. Yes, go back to God in prayers to touch his wife is a plausible idea, good one at that........but he said he's done that, so what next? I believe that is why he's come here for advise. |
IForgotMyLoginD: ![]() You want to cry? Haba! e no reach that my sista....... ![]() |
ihatesycophant:This is how some of you twist narratives and the scriptures and also quote scriptures out of context. let's start with some few things in this your post and the other one. 1. Yes I am assuming, just like you and anyone else. God's call to him is personal. It cannot follow a template. You cannot tell him ho-ha a pattern HIS call should follow. 2. There have been many instances where a "spirit-filled" individual has his/her greatest cross in his/her partner. There has been instances where wife's/girl-friends of pastors/would-be pastors are not supportive. In some cases the relationship crashes, in other cases they find a way to get to a compromise and in others she gives her total support. What this person in question is asking his how will he go about it. You lot have all the answers from a supposed template. 3. From the bolded, what makes you think he's not done all that? What if God is tell him to do some other things to get her on board? If you were a christian counselor, and a young aspiring pastor comes to you with this "problem", you mean to tell me your answer will be "If truly you're spirit filled, immediately you received the mandate and you confined in your wife and she gave negative reply, since that day you suppose to have gone on your knees and ask God to convince her by a sign" This is why people walk away from some of you supposed spiritual leaders worse off and more disappointed. 4. What is the use of this out of context scriptures you quoted here to the discussion at hand? "The Bible says, until they see a sign they would not believe" I guess you are a bible reader, yet you muddled up a different scripture to explain? hmm.... Just like I keep saying....... What if he's done all these (prayed earnestly, fasted, etc) and she's still adamant? |
IForgotMyLoginD:So let's start with few tots 1. I guess you imagined the way you sister and her husband started their "ministry" is also the way he MUST start his? 2. If you went through his initial posts very well, he did not ask anyone here to help him assess if he should start a ministry. His emphasis is that he's convinced of his calling to start a ministry. My question to you (and others with "judgmental" feedback) is why are you more interested in "dissuading" him? Why are you telling him "how" and "when" he should not start/start? I put below some of your quotes that is out to the issues he placed for advise God won’t just jump start you into owning a church. Do you even have a small fellowship unit that is touching lives?Good question, but out of scope. You do not know his background or the "works" he has done, the spiritual heights he has attained. You do not even know if he has a small fellowship or not(if that is even a criteria for God's call) My in-law registered his ministry 4years ago but is still taking it little by little. Even when he wanted to start Sunday service , God said NOT YET. My sister supports him cos she’s SEEN that God’s hand is upon him. This is someone that got his calling yearssss before he registered his ministry. God is never in a hurry. The God that told your in-law NOT YET, could be telling this man START NOW? So I advise you ask HIM for direction. And ask HIM to start to use you in a mighty way. Even your wife will be convinced. Cos right now, she isn’t.You made a bland assumption that he has not asked God for direction? I like to keep to the facts of issues, at least to the extent of the information we have. The challenge I see here is that this brother is long-gone in his resolve to start his ministry (convinced God has called him to start). He wants advise on how to convince his wife. Let me pick just one thing from what many of you tacitly alluded to as a simple answer 1. PRAY that God touches/reveals to the wife 2. Get counselling from "spiritual fathers" who can guide both he and the wife on how to traverse stages like this. It will hit into their family life physically, emotionally and economically at the start (the ministry may even be "small time" for a long time)......but that is the price of answering a legit call of God. 3. Tell the wife, the threat of divorce.........is at best shameful. Under no circumstances should a christian wife threaten her husband with divorce over divergent views. |
ihatesycophant:What if God has and she is resisting? |
toscolee:My first thought exactly. |
akaahs:So God can't use him in another place abi? |
My sister, It's not like there is a template for receiving a calling from God and how to start a ministry. The only thing I deem more valuable in your submission is "ask God for direction".... Every other thing sounds judgemental and personal IForgotMyLoginD: |
alphaconde:I find it amusing(albeit unfortunately) that people make emphatic and emotion laden statements as facts when they don't bother to check or support with evidencekulrunsman79: :lies |
stefanweeks:I am not disputing your statements....in fact I am in tacit support |
stefanweeks:Not totally sold, FG through NNPC still holds some equity. It was a good move if you ask me. Prior to the almost moribund, operating as less than 25% capacity and almost going the way of many of our refineries. When Indorama took over, in less than 12months, without laying off any Nigeria staff, it was operating at 100%.free2ryhme: : The returns paid to FG in the first year was way much more than what was ever made prior to privatisation |
frankwyte:When I am "thought"? Oh Gosh! I give up |
scholes23:What you wrote at the bottom even makes it more unintelligent. |
frankwyte:Bros, 1. You have not "enlightened me" with this your copy-paste text book submission. 2. Tell us exactly what is pertinent and perculiar to the CPB and how NNPC could have brought it down. Some of you are simply ignorantly arrogant. You don't know nada! |
CodeTemplar:Nigerian Oil and Gas industry |
DaudaAbu:Involvement of Nigerian Engineers (Nigerian engineers have been involved in the first place) has little to do with reducing CPB |
Ezechinwa:I'm not sure of what will make me happy in your case; I am saddened that comprehension is receding..... |
frankwyte:.....and what evidence do you think they should have shown you of a CPB @$20? Do you even know the breakdown analysis of a CPB because you seem to be asking a question on a "wrong tangent" |
CodeTemplar:Problem is this CPB may not be the industry average, as such not reflective. I hope it will be |
scholes23:This regular rhetoric that many of you adduce to every issue discussed is a lazy mentality. Everything is not about "reduce the price of fuel or the price of goods". Why not talk about Job creation, infrastructural drive, increase in industry clusters, more health care, better transportation network etc. You lot are so "consumption-centric" that you hardly think about development |
usba:Spot onsan316: :Saudi Arabia has one of the lowest cost of production and it is the top producer of oil, still oil prices are not low. You cannot use your guguru and ekpa thinking when it comes to oil. The price of oil is determined largely by demand and supply not cost of production. What you are supposed to be talking about is increased Income for Nigeria not lower petrol prices which are determined by forces outside our borders |
san316:Not so much in this context. We export most of the crude oil we sell, as such cost of sales is influenced not by cost of production, but the landing cost petrol for example. The only uptake here lower CPB means more revenue to FG and cut in wastages.usba: :There is no comprehension challenge. There is a link between cost of production and eventual cost of sales. |
gsparks01:I am absolutely with you on this |
kc2hansome:Actually, there is nothing wrong if 1.6m candidates wants to write JAMB. Your submission presupposes that every candidate have a right to be admitted, which is a wrong premise. Yes they have the right to write the exams, but they need to do the hard work to pass. You cannot stop people from aspiring to get admitted into universities, what you can regulate is their meeting the requisite standard. Secondly, the "grass root" knowledge you refer to is not rocket science. A key problem with us in Nigeria is this wrong notion that everybody must go through the University or else you will be a failure in life(emphasis mine). We have lots of other avenues to means of livelihood i.e. the skill development institutions and other institution of "unconventional" learning. We have left these "industry-clusters" largely under-explored and under-exploited. We have mechanics, plumbers, builders and other artisanal education that have been left in the hands of uneducated and unexposed people. A lot of money is made in these areas. Unfortunately many people struggle to get into universities either out of ignorance (wrong information and perception) or social stigma, when they stand to make more money and derive more pleasure if they had gone into the other unconventional forms of higher learning |
