I think you are confusing religion with history and that shows a pattern. The Oduduwa whom you are talking about is a character in an ancient religion all the rest is pure political fabrication, please ask educated questions. The guys in Benin republic also have access to Awolowo's story, just as much as you. Information goes beyond borders, and people love these types of stories.
Sharp logic there sir.

What I understood he said is this: that Awolowo created a sense of Yoruba ethnic nationality. To be political relevant against the Northern block. I have read several of his posts from years ago.

Look at how the North opposed Pa Awo even campaigning in the North properly. In 1964/65 Action Group won only 21 seats out of 312 seats in national parliament and lost 52 seats. Coming in 4th position or just 8.6% of the vote. With Awo in Prison. Awo always saw how tribalism will dominate Nigerian politics & sought to prepare for it. Though SLA & Fani Power didn't quite get his drift early enough. Or pretended not to. Until both had to turn to tribalism campaign in 1964/65 too.

That is what they are good at. Ganging up & conspiracy.

If they cannot silence that Areafada2 guy here, they will gang up and give him a long ban. This is their forum you know.

Typical yoruba response to hard evidence. Look about Biafra, yes there was a precolonial country named biafra. Look man you are not being logical and that is frustrating my discussion with you. It feels like nothing short of me going back in time with a camera in my hands would convince you. The europeans were very good at making precised maps which they used to better trade and to prepare conquests. the map is accurate, it is a historical document.

Lol.

Stop wasting your time. They will never accept any hard evidence but expect you to believe theirs.

At that point, without much colonial ambition yet, just trade interest, Europeans were quite precise & objective in mapping out & describing peoples in Africa.

He never answered the OP/Thread topic, even though he knew what was actually being asked, and went on a tirade about Ekaladerhan the lost Benin prince.
If he doesn't have the thread answer or nothing to offer towards the topic sentence, what then is he posting about?

Posting unrelated stuff in a different thread is called Spamming.

Well just because he did not tell you what you wanted to hear does not mean others do not find his posts useful.

You're not the ultimate authority on any of this.

I have followed his post here on history, culture, medicine, travelling, farming, etc. Maybe you haven't.

Jamb is now useless. They should scrap it. Same with NYSC.
They should re-introduce A'levels.

Back to 6-5-2-3/4/5 system. Depending on university course.

2 years A level that is a life long certificate.

It can become the minimum requirement for police, military, FRSC & paramilitary jobs.

It can be made to include pre-professional courses in lab science, accounting, engineering maths/physics, electronics etc as choice subjects alongside traditional courses.

At least everybody now knows Buhari was, is and will always be empty.
So tomorrow, nobody will come and say the man would have rescued Nigeria if voted into power.

He will forever be remembered as the Nigerian president with the enviable record of failing as a military dictator and also failing as a democratic president.

Unenviable you meant.

This might surprise some people but not those of us who warned earlier. We were called Tanoids.

There's no evidence that Buhari bettered himself in anyway after leaving prison/detention. Not through business, further education, conferences, charity work, international mediation, book publication, etc.

All he did was divorce his late first wife, return to cattle rearing/Miyetti Allah, professing his commitment to Sharia and infamously telling a Southwest Governor " Your people are killing my people". When South West people defended themselves against Fulani herdsmen. No wonder the herdsmen are murderously audacious under his regime.

Wait o.

Does this General not know that private companies have their pockets to fill and public interest has no relevance whatsoever? grin shocked

To make that massive profit, they have to run the business and innovate far better than lazy civil servants running govt owned companies like NEPA was, NIPOST or NPA.

Through much improved service delivery & quality, consumers will consume much more, and the private company rakes in huge profits.

At best, the govt can try to reduce ripping off the citizens by private sector by setting consumer protection rules. Fair but not crippling or overly intrusive/anti-business. grin

Men have slim chance of contracting HIV as the only contact is through urinary track which is very very tiny. A man can make love with a girl with HIV more than 7 time with being infected.

I guess you mean without.

But injuries/bruises on the surface of the shaft could become entry points for HIV.

You're right, men have a slightly lower chance of infection, especially if circumcised.

On the other hand, gay men, especially receiving men, still have a high chance. There are still closet gay guys out there you know. Even in Africa. cheesy

We're told that the remorseful sinners are more acceptable to God.

It was destroyed by the same oyinbos.

True to some extent. But many things destroyed can be rebuilt or restored, partially at least.

Even those left like the moats were not preserved. 30 years ago, lots of the moats were in a pristine state. Even some ramparts were still very visible.

Lots of the stuff were declared/gazetted as National Heritage by FG decades ago, which means even Edo State govt cannot tamper with it. Not even to preserve or repair officially.

But FG never does its job. So there we're.

Many other Benin towns like Udo had their own moats and walls/ramparts too.

Funny thing is we 9ja people of today prefer to dismiss things recorded by eye witnesses of the time as lies.

Tribalism & bigotry don't help either.

The destruction of heritage all over 9ja make us look like a people without any history of achievement prior to oyinbo.

It has massive psychological impact on us.

African say things like "I hate being black, we contribute nothing to the world, what have we Africans ever invented?", etc.

Oduduwa was an Egyptian- black Egyptian

Other thing is black Egypt was.attacked.by Arab Muslims similar to isis.

So.every.body was scattering as far as possible because those guys were slaughtering anything that moves .

It could have taken oduduwa 5yrs or less to get SW. Even faster with a horse or camel

It.is very possible. U forget that cars were invented in 1900 but translatic slave trade has been going on be dat

What was he doing fleeing for 5 years when he passed well established non-Muslim civilisations en route? Where he could have settled.

And why the small village of Ife? Logically, scientifically without any myth. A one-man horse or camel caravan or what? That story probably sounded great in the days of illiteracy and poor knowledge of geography, not now Sir!

Slaves were marched to the river ports or nearby sea ports for onward transportation. Within 100 to 300 miles at most.

There are just too many versions and inconsistencies in the "coming from Arabia" story. Various places, Egypt, Sudan, Saudi, some even say Israel.
All these cannot be true at same time. Most likely that none is true.

I will sooner believe he came from Igala, Jukun, Congo, Benin, within current Yorubaland or somewhere plausible than the Middle East.

Bloodied noses of boko haram yet 200 were killed a couple of days ago. In Nigeria everything is driven by ethnic and partisan interest. In between are the zombies who are without capacity to discern anything. The zombies accept all the lies without question. About Buhari, they know of his austere appearance as adequate credential for his integrity. But no questions asked about his sectarian disposition.

You wonder if they didn't get a bloody nose. They would have obliterated whole towns.

Boko are disguising as herdsmen according to the senate. So they won't see that carnage as part of it.

For an Ex-General who promised 2 months to finish off Boko, should we be dancing when hundreds are still killed at will 10 months later?

You cannot criticise all GEJ did, with no co-operation from Northerners and expect praise for minor steps.

If you come thru Sudden you don't have to pass Sahara desert to get to Nigeria.

Well, they claim Saudi mostly. Where you will cross the Gulf to reach Africa. He left all the civilisations in the North-East to a then small village in the forest of SW in about 1100 AD. Haba!

They need to sit down and decide which place.

Because Benin has for centuries placed him in the family he came from, the scheming of his step mum to led to his exile. First reaching Owo area then entering Ife from the East. No myth, no magic. Consistent history of about 140 miles journey.

Because, 100 years from now, our kids, hopefully wiser than us and judging everything by science, they will find much inconsistencies in Arabia story. some even said Egypt. Arabian or Coptic or which Egyptian era.

By 12th century, Ododuwa's time, Egypt was already Arabic. Which Arab invasion again then? They get the historical timeline even wrong.

omo n'oba is 3rd behind Ooni and Alaafin among the dynasties that sprung from oduduwa

Omo n'oba is a yoruba son ruling over Edo people. You don't need to lie and formulate a connection between oduduwa and Bini, the only connection the house of oduduwa has with Bini is Oranmiyan

DEAL WITH IT!

Everyone knows that Yoruba think they can use early Western educational advantage to bamboozle people. Benin history is very consistent and ancient, even before Yoruba began fabricating history of using chain from heaven.

You can never compare those politically appointed kings, with money changing hands mostly, to appoint an unprepared guy as King like the one you have in Ife now, to Benin monarchy. All those five Obas a penny all over your face, even some fighting in public. grin

Yoruba can brag, shout and hype like they normally do, but makes no difference.

You guys are the ones getting cardiac arrest, hypertension, diarrhoea of the mouth, envy and everything over the unique & beautiful Benin Kingdom and its acclaimed history that you cannot face your business & leave Benin alone.

Hausa? Fulani don write una history for una. Even it is Hausa who also gave the name Yoruba.

You're happy to import Ododuwa from Arabia of all places but it never occurs to you that he came from nearby. Colo mentality.

What happened to the chain he used to climb down from heaven? No more? grin

A man running away from Arabia went Axum and other places he could have taken refuge to one village across the Sahara?

Does that make sense to you?

He could cross desert on his own, but travelling 140 miles on exile from Benin is impossible.
