drnoel: On the contrary our medical doctors can do wonders, if u worked in Nigeria you would know for sure. Its our leaders who don't trust our system cos of their irresponsible behaviour towards it. Isn't it accident wounds that he sustained. What else do they want to check that couldn't be done in national hospital. Don't we have MSCT and MRI there in Abuja. These equipments are all there.. MRI images have to be interpreted by a competent radiologist (not radiographer). Unless brain damage is not involved. If just a fracture, of course an Ortho. Surgeon can do that. Training in Naija these days is deficient as many of the brightest (future teachers) jet out and do wonders abroad. No doubt that with adequate facilities, training, motivation/incentive Naija would be a destination for medical tourism. |
HQ: Germany seems to be the new destination.. Actually Germany has been the destination for decades. Wiesbaden to be precise. That's where the HQ of Julius Berger is. JB handles the contract. Germans are very smart people. Naija elite spend millions of Dollars in the economy of that City yearly seeking medical care. Imagine a provincial town like Asaba or Ado-Ekiti raking in such dough from some imbecilic foreigners. |
20) 6 BEDROOM FLAT (BUNGALO) WITH WATER AND FENCED. PRICE #4M. 21) 3 BEDROOM FLAT (BUNGALO) . PRICE 1.5M. Can you please tell me more about these properties? location, documents, state of the houses, facilities around the area (road, school, light, etc)?. |
spyder880: Good suggestions, can you tell us which body/organization that has the responsibility to do each of the 4 works? We should develop cheap building materials from local resources like clay, sand, wood etc. I wonder why using wooden slab for decking is not popular in Naija. With limited land in Lagos, a poor/regular family can use a half plot to build a small duplex if decking is cheap enough and still have some space for kids to play. Clay can be used to produce roofing material. Also people/companies should come up with ready-made slabs and walls that you can just assemble into a house almost like a bunkbed. Government can help family with cheap loans to afford these cheap houses. |

Poster, Have you got something to hide? Why should the price of your goods in a free market be like KGB secret information? Nawa oh. |
ROSSIKE: IQ tests are completely worthless, and are a mere propaganda tool for racists to air their ignoble ideas. Basing IQ tests on a nation's level of development (which tends to be what happens regardless of their methodology) is the height of stupidity, as it presupposes that developed nations were ''born developed'' and never had to go through the stages that we did, which is the height of lies and propaganda.. I stated in an earlier post that we Africans should develop our own IQ & EQ tests that take into consideration our way of life. Even though I don't believe in the whole stuff but it is correlates here in the West. I have done IQ tests before in a Western setting and my score wasn't worse than those of Europeans and Asians but then that was in a select group. I have also lived in more varied European environments than most colleagues and I may even have had an advantage over them. I cannot expect an otherwise brilliant African just coming from Africa to score so high. It doesn't mean that he's less intelligent or retarded than the Europeans. When I watch quiz shows here in Europe, I often do quite well in questions about history, geograpghy, maths, science etc but useless in questions about expressions Europeans use routinely at home and events/hit music/films of the time I was not living in Europe. |
pastormustwacc: Literacy does not affect IQ. Intelligence and brilliancy are 2 different things entirely.. Not quite correct. I saw medical students undertake IQ test. All scored considerably higher than the average person on the street, and that's even here in the West. There is a good correlation. It may be unfair to use Western standards to test an African WITH A DIFFERENT UPBRINGING AND EXPOSURE. |
I don't blame them. Why can't we develop our own IQ & EQ tests that take cognisance of our African values, to include but not: (1) Family value (2) Sociability (3) Good neighbourliness (a white neghbour who lived next door, I never saw his face for 2 years. I knew from his music and voice that he was white) (4) Straightforwardness with your feelings and opinions (5) Belief in a superior being (as the world didn't come into existence by accident). (6) Test done in a language one is most comfortable with (Wazobia, Edo, Izon, Efik, Urhobo, etc). (7) Survival instinct/hustling (9) Mental stability (10) Optimism |

We are very a funny set of people in Naija. The solution to our problem is not in Mecca or Jerusalem. Pilgrimage to any destination of any religious description is fine but hoping to get solution to our man-made problems at home is just admission that they don't have anything to offer. If that's the case let our rulers just handover power to the imams and bishops. At least we assume they are "closer" to God. ![]() |

@ Poster: If you play your card well, you will benefit long term. You both can quickly save up and move into your own property, possibly far away from your ILs. Go to MIL with him sometimes. You can even compliment her good cooking. See it as a temporary sacrifice. Don't compete with your MIL because by the look of things, you will lose. Free accommodation in Lasgidi is not moin moin. When we men are close to our mothers, it's likely we will naturally behave childishly. |
I remember a time in Bendel state when Aniomas used to complain of marginalisation. Even though Denise Osadebey was first elected premier, many commissioners, judges and a vast number of government officials were Aniomas. Thanks to a high number of highly educated Aniomas. People like Dr Mrs Unukegwo. Many of my friends's dads were among them. I don't think they have had more prominence in Delta state than in old Bendel/Midwest. I hear of people talking of marginalisation now in Delta state. |
Elueme: I don't think state creation will substitute the agitation for true federalism.. Let's thrive to balance the inequality while we proceed for our call for regional govt or true federalism.. Problem is the more people you appease by giving them their state, the weaker the clamour for true federalism. |
Demdem: of cos not. states creation is not the way to go. it never has. i prefer we all go back to regions like it was in the first republic but that should be after the SNC.. Who will listen? We keep creating unsustainable states, getting hand-out from Abuja, |
Elueme: I trust the judgement of the president on state creation.. I would have suggested every zone except northwest has one more state with south east having two but the cost ll be too much for the country.. On this note I think the decision for two(2) states is fair..By the time they pay governor, deputy, commissioners, LGA chairmen, the entire bureaucratic echelon, no money will be left. We rather want strong regions and LGAs and weak federal government. We can bypass the whole state government apparatus. |
If you want Anioma, talk to the core Ibos if they'll support you. Orlu and Adaba or some similar name also want one. |
Every household is already a LGA anyway, they might as well go on and make every community a state, it still won't reduce price of gaffi @ oja oba. |
duality: obviously, you are not informed. records have it that they have the highest number of LGAs in delta state. And what's the total polpulation? Go back as far as 1963 referendum to carve out mid-west region. See the population figures there. Since then, we have not had any undisputed population figures in Naija. |
afam4eva: How do you mean? What about Ektii, bayelsa, Ebonyi and Zamfara? If you look at my post above: i said merging some current states might even be better. |
afam4eva: I also want to know.Anioma is not big enough to make a state. Except they carve a couple of LGAs across the Niger and add to Anioma. They should seriously consider Okun state and maybe one for the Beroms if only to stop the killings over there. Overall many states are not robust enough. I wonder if merging some states is not even better. |
Oj.skillz:Please send pictures to: pithasmen@yahoo.com Which floor ist on? Is the flat currently occupied by a tenant or vacant? What other expenses will come in addition to the cost price? |
@ Akigbemaru & Obaje: Norway, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark, Japan, UK etc, all have monarchs and are all modern countries by any measure. Develope what you have. Discarding everything you have and always copying others means inferiority complex. |

Considering the madness of naija society these days, being good is difficult and doesn't pay the way you expect. If you have children, they may be the ones to get the reward of your kindness. That's how I comfort myself having been taken for a ride very many times. |
