macof: Third according to oju kokoro people? Leave Benin out of your greedy eyes. You mean Ooni & Alafin are the senior children of the Benin prince Ekaladerhan/ Izoduwa/Imadoduwa that you now call Ododuwa. Maybe even not senior children, because the Yoruba leave senior children and make the younger boys king. Claiming Ifa appointment. ![]() ![]() Benin produced Ododuwa, all your relevant kings are sons of Benin. Don't use 21st century numerical population advantage to twist history. 4 Likes |

masterblogger:But legally? Police are meant to enforce the law, not religion or morals. Before a girl who trained in medicine could marry without parents' consent, she would have tried everything to persuade her parents. It seems her parents were against the guy from the get go. Maybe over social class or something. 4 Likes |

IpeleOlalekan: If there is evidence of looting, why can't they oppose the bail in the law court with their evidence? If a person has two passports, they can seize both and inform British High Commission or whatever embassy not to issue any travel documents. They can even put him under House arrest & monitor his movement. A GOVT CANNOT indulge in illegality while claiming to seek justice. It seems we have a desperate govt that has not done its homework before arresting people. Or they just go about it haphazardly. We are all for looters to return our money (possibly with interest) and serve a corresponding jail term for it, but it should be done correctly and legally. 1 Like |

First we need to define this gender equality. I'm wary of undefined change these days. Because while we copy Western stuff, our peculiarity means we implement them upside down. Does it mean sending same number of female & male soldiers to fight Boko? Does it mean women cannot ask husband for upkeep money, or child support in case of divorce? Does it mean it will now be ok to fight a lady who offends you on the street just like you might "deck" a fellow guy an uppercut? ![]() ![]() Anything that has advantage also comes with the opposite. In Africa, women expect certain responsibilities from men, especially monetary, will this be changed by the bill too? ![]() ![]() ![]() 3 Likes |

Quakertellicus1: This is really a test case. It shows the flaws in electoral law/act. That nobody thought about death in such a situation. I think we're too superstitious about death, even those who drafted the law. ![]() ![]() 1 Like |

Nosa-Henry:. The simple answer is no. The best is benevolent autocracy. Maybe when things have been put in place and people are more cultured, naturally accountable, then we might try democracy. That is why the best periods in African history when black people developed a level of sophistication in culture, arts, governance and metaphysics were during the high points in certain African empires/Kingdoms: Oyo, Benin, Zazzau/Zaria, Nri, Nok, Kanem Bornu, Nupe, Mali(Ancient Ghana), Songhai, Ashanti (now in Modern, not ancient Ghana), Zulu, Ngola (now modern Angola), Buganda (now in Uganda) and of course Sudan, Nubia and Ethiopia/Axum etc. After that our "Micky Mouse" democratic experiments have been ridiculous. Babangida missed a massive chance to do what Suharto did in Indonesia and pull Nigeria from the doldrums. But he wasn't smart enough and lacked foresight (though he was streetwise like Maradona). Babangida only had very primitive survival and self-preservation instincts, the type of animal instinct the vast majority of Nigerian politicians exhibit, and is needed to negotiate the Nigerian socio-political jungle. |

port1976: It started like this in 60's and gradually detoriated till military coup was staged. Most of the actors that claimed invincible were mudered after the coup. We are gradually treading the same ugly path again. I wish our president goodluck. May be God is about to answer prayer of ordinary Nigerians. This fight is not about us but against us. Whatever the shortcoming of Amachei he has invested wisely in the future of his kinsmen(rivers people) and i strongly believe history will be fair to him. We all know what PHC looklike before 2007, though not yet hurray but there is big hope for this city, otherwise Lagos be ready for us again we are coming back for good.. Abeg tell them. Okotie-Eboh backed by British money and co didn't survive the coup. It began with state of Emergency in the South west (Awo/Akintola issue), then the killing of Easterners in the North. All the same ingredients in more quantities are present again. |
Take a deep breath, stay calm. Everything will be okay. I think the best option is for you to come home. If your parents or relatives don't know that you're HIV positive, THEY DON'T NEED TO KNOW. It is none of their business. It is YOUR private business. HOWEVER, that means you also have a responsibility to make living with them as safe as possible for everyone involved and that means not engaging in unsafe activities (like sharing personal instruments with them) that could expose them. It is really dangerous for you to continue not taking medication because you are weakening your immune system very fast and severely decreasing your chances for long time survival. Taking your medication CONSISTENTLY is the key to living a healthy happy life with your chronic condition. Also there are advances in HIV treatment happening every day so please have a lot of hope! Recently about three people were "functionally cured" of HIV. What that means (according to the doctors/scientists) is that ALL the HIV virus in their system was eradicated. This was done with EARLY, CONSISTENT combination drug therapy and now these people are living happy fulfilled lives. ". Very good points there Sugabelly. I just want to add that the point at which RT begins is important, too early and you risk causing resistance and too early exposure to side effects of the therapy. And too late, the immune system might be too weakened to recover. As for eradicating the virus throgh therapy, the jury is still out. The virus might be sequestered in some organs or blood (even if not replicating), so that's why you cannot donate organs even if "functionally cured". |

bebe2:. Oh so bebe2 is a healthcare professional, which branch of it? Ideally the govt would want no illegal to get free treatment at all, but from practice you know that's not possible. Though not strictly treatment, we give out PEP packs routinely irrespective of legal status. Afterall illegals can be banging anybody. 1 Like |

@Poster, It's a tricky situation but not without hope. Good that you are already seeking information, knowledge, they say, is power. There are many things we don't know about your situation there. Are you a student, do you stay there legally or otherwise, can you travel to other countries, are you male, female, have children etc? If you are just a single person, is there anybody (brother/sister/aunt/uncle/good friend) you trust back home who can do some leg work? Like finding out from local government hospital/NGO what help you can get back home. It is best for you to carefully plan your return home. God forbid your health deteriorates unexpectedly, you wanna be with loved ones. Money is not everything. HIV progression is a bit unpredictable. Try to be aware of your CD4 count and be watchful about frequent infections like respiratory infections. YOUR priority now is staying healthy. That means eating and living heathily. A cure may well be found years down the line. The heathier you are for as long as possible the better. Now, here in UK, we make HIV diagnosis sometimes during prenancy booking and just randomly sometmes and the protocol is pretty clear. Not a biggie anymore if protocol is followed. 1 Like |

eazysally: Am not okey with number 6, how can something be important and is still a 'silent killer disease'. Simple. You can suffer from it for a long time without knowing. In fact I know someone who was diagnosed first time when he already had kidney failure. He felt very unwell as he was uraemic. This is in Europe. He's on dialysis for years now. Still awaiting suitable kidney for transplant. Also people with diabetes (including undiagnosed ) can suffer "silent heart attack" and will not realise it so may not rush to hospital. Can literally drop dead. Too much sugar damages the nerves that you use to sense pain, so the typical chest/neck/jaw/left arm pain of heart attack is not felt. Note that kidney/heart/liver failure does NOT mean they completely stopped working! They are compromised enough to affect normal function....and typically goes down hill. |
