Issfat: Hi, My baby has bn so scared since birth. He is now 7 mnths whenever he had a strange voice even if made it, whenever we slam d door. Since yesterday whenever he is sucking he wil be groaning and stretching as if he want 2 convulse. I was told to give him herb for cold weather( agbo ile tutu). I dnt knw if its advisable. Pls i nd ur advise
Issfat, you can use palm kernel oil on him, also known as black oil. It helps prevent babies from convulsing and jerking out of fear. After his shower, use a generous amount all over his body, also let some enter his eyes. Please, note that the oil stains so do not use when wearing him white clothes. Hope this help, good luck

Julicoka, if you really must start your LO on cereal I suggest you start her on a rice based cereal as rice is easier on the stomach at that age.

Jiro, I'm surprised you do not want to start your baby on formula but have no qualms starting him on solids @ 3 months!

Ayobarmy, I usually empty about half a bottle of silverbird into a full bottle of her hair oil.
Agiboma, we are anxiously awaiting you and your LO.

dominique:

Hmm, the same silverbird oil my MIL says can peel the baby's kin if applied directly. I knew that can't be possible cos I've tried it on my skin and it didn't sting. We only added a few drops to the baby oil, I can barely percieve it in the oil sef. My one month also developed a cold yesterday and it was dsitressful watching her breath with difficulty last night. I'll add the oil to her bath water too. Thanks for the info.
Lol, I don't know why people have this wrong notion about silverbird. For my 1st baby my MIL also tried dissuading me too but I went ahead and used it because I had experience with it. Hope your baby's health improves, all the best.

Ayobarmy, have you tried silverbird? It is a eucalyptic oil, comes in a blue pack with a bird on it. I can attest to its effectiveness. I usually drop a full cap into baby's bathing water then depending on how serious the stuffed nose is you can drop a drop or two on the crown of baby's head.

Cilly I'll recommend sebamed baby range of products. I used them for both children from day 1 and I've not had cause to complain. Some people say it's expensive so you may have to consider your pocket.
Issfat, the way I serve my baby purity foods is by simply pouring it out into her bowl and heating it a little, then I feed her. No need to add milk or water.
Ifyemma, shea butter is ori. Depending on your location you can get it from the market where they sell herbal roots etc there's also the packaged one. I got mine from the hospital I used for ante natal.

Blank, we are in the same shoes about the potty training thing. My son's pediatrician suggested I get a more comfortable potty as he may not like the one I've been trying to get him to use so I bought two different types but he's still not taking to it. To say I'm tired confused is an understatement, I've decided to let him be though I still try him on the potty when I'm fully home on weekends.
Health / Re: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by maran1983(f): 12:57pm On Jan 12, 2013
Dominique, you have nothing to fear or worry about. I have been pregnant twice and both times I didn't gain more than 10kg; infact for the 1st pregnancy I only added 5kg and that was in my 3rd trimester, my doctors ran a lot of tests but once they confirmed the baby was fine they let me be,he came out at 38 weeks weighing 3.8kg.my major concern is that I've not gained up to 10kg throughout the entire pregnancy, I keep complaining to my doctor but she (sometimes he) tells me there's nothing to worry about as long as the scan shows the baby is fine. Baby center says a woman gains about 20 pounds during her pregnancy. Over to you ladies, what's your average weight gain throughout pregnancy or so far?[/quote]

Health / Re: How Do I Lose Weight Easily Without Starving My Self by maran1983(f): 8:07pm On Nov 25, 2012
chaircover: The science to loosing weight is by using up more energy than the body gets from food, drinking iced cold water against warm water etc etc

The best way to loose weight is a slow, steady and healthy weight loss of about 1-2Ib per week rather than a rapid loss
Madam CC are you saying cold water helps one lose weight rather than warm water?

omogemi: @maran, julesboom she was given her 1st immunizatn on 22 oct n my nxt appointment is 4th Dec. She ws given in a Public Health facility. Is d dat nt too far? Coz i m quite worryd.
As for d skin patches, sometimes these foreign things may b too harsh 4 their skin or it may b a particular ingredient. Try cussons baby soap. Its very mild. I use it with Ori(shea butter).
The date is correct, that will be six weeks after the first one.

ferhyntorlah:

Thank you for taking time to drop your comment; even though it's a painful experience, this experience will help single ladies to watch out for signs of an abuser.

I would love to read more about your experiences. Thank God you came out of it.
It wasn't easy, I thank God for finally opening my eyes in the nick of time.
I feel so embarrassed when I think of all the things I went through; you see I was supposedly a smart chic, someone who knew what was up yet I fell for a lunatic and got subjected to verbal and mental torture for almost two years and to think we were planning on getting married, I'm shuddering @the thought.
One time he said we should stop being intimate cos it was against God's plan for us, I agreed. I was spending a weekend @his place and he didn't let me rest, kept bugging me for s*x. I refused, he grovelled, lamented, pleaded, all what not but I still said no. Later that evening he came to me, put his head on my lap and talked to me in a very kind and loving way, that as a man he had needs and because of the love he had for me he couldn't cheat on me etc so finally I accepted. You won't believe it, immediately we were done this guy turns around and calls me cheap! Why couldn't I say no and stick with it, he's sure that's how I've been going around having s*x with everybody.
I felt like a complete fool, even now remembering that incident I'm trying so hard not to burst into tears.
I honestly thank God I found the strength to leave.

I've been silently following this thread and was contemplating commenting or not but my husband explained that if my post can save just one person, then I'd have done a lot.
I was in my 3rd year, 2nd semester when I met this guy through a mutual friend and we started dating. @1st it was all rosy and magical but I noticed he started getting jealous of my friends, time spent with my family instead of with him, infact too many things for me to remember.
My family couldn't stand him, we are a really close knit family so I didn't understand why they didn't like him, so to compensate, I loved him even more but of course, that wasn't enough for him.
A typical conversation would go thus
Me:honey guess what? Omo and I are going to see a movie this weekend.
Him:you girls are just a bunch of sluts! Don't you have tvs @home? I'm sure you want to sNeak out to see another guy, it won't work, infact you have to be @my place by 7am on sat.
Like someone under a spell I'd be @his place all through saturday and sunday.
It got so bad I didn't have friends anymore, I was constantly @loggerheads with my family. He even had people spying on me in school! One time I'd told him I was fasting because of a program in my school church, to my shock he called and said 'liar, you claim to be fasting, yet you are frying meat!' I was amazed cos I was trully frying meat. I had to explain that I was cooking with some members of the church for the program.
Please, don't get me wrong, I wasn't naïve or foolish but with him I lost all confidence and self esteem. I used to feel so pretty and sure of myself but he killed all that.
When my dad died he refused to come for the burial because according to him my dad didn't like him!
My story is really long and painful, I'm just glad I got out. There's so much more to tell but I'm typing with my phone.

Omogemi its actually 6 weeks apart, the subsequent ones are then a month apart.
That is after bcg the next immunization is @6 weeks, then the next is @10 weeks, then 14weeks; after that its vit A @6 months.
I'll advise you to expect your baby to be feverish and restless so please get a bottle of paracetamol and take it with you to the hospital, give your baby 0.3mls immediately after the immunization so as to reduce the effect of the drug.

Ayobarmy, you could try giving him a steam bath, it worked wonders for me. Put a bowl/basin of hot water under your laps and put your baby belly down on your laps so he can inhale the steam from the water, it'll help in clearing congestions.
I also use silverbird on my baby's head, it contains eucalypty oil which I find quite useful. Hope this help, cheers.

Blank could it possibly be ella (hope I spelt it correctly) I'm asking because the same thing happened to my daughter. We initially thought it was a rash till my neighbour told us otherwise, she gave me a red leave I used in bathing the baby and by the 2nd day it had cleared.
Maybe you could ask a more experienced woman around you that can physically examine the rash, cheers.

Efe please help me ask him. This is supposed to be about parenting but it seems Dami Paul only parents at intervals when it suits him or maybe as the spirit leads. So of course doing the child's laundry, cleaning up after the child etc does not count afterall he is the man of the house, no need spoiling the wife with too much help, how else will she know her place?!
Family / Re: Who's More Responsible For The Child? by maran1983(f): 1:23am On Oct 05, 2012
Unfortunately i cannot ask your wife seeing as she is not here, at the end of the day it is just your word which i am sorry to say i do not quite trust.
Anyway, no need to derail the topic. Like i stated earlier it is the job of both parents.
