I thought there was a thing called relevant experience. Of what use is a man running for Deputy Governorship telling the rest of the world that he was a class captian in Primary School. |
Well Scotland is in the North of Britain England is in the South. So North does not always win. |
saintchux:How did Soludo end? He lost an election mate? That is not the end of the world. It is natural that someone will win and someone will loose. There is nothing wrong if Ribadu looses. |
paddy_lo:Are you saying there are no qualified Igbos who are good enough to hold one or two key ministries in Jonathan's cabinet? We will also Judge Jonathan on merit when the time comes and for most of us, we do not approve of the the job he is doing. |
Paddy_lo If you or Ezeife have a compelling argument that Jonathan is the most qualified candidate, maybe I will buy into it and vote for him. But if it is based on who is our brother and who is not, forget it. It wont fly. Actions matter more than anything else: It was not Yar'adua who replaced Ojo Maduekwe with Odein Ajumogbia in Foreign Ministry. It was not Yar'adua who replaced Onyiuke Okereke with an Edo Man It was not Yar'adua who replaced Sam Egwu with the Northern female Prof It was not Yar'adua who replaced Iwu with Jega While it is ok to replace anybody with anybody from any part of Nigeria. It gets troubling when it is ok to replace Igbo folks with others but others are hardly ever replaced by Igbo folks. If he thinks he is appointing folks based on merit then fair enough. We will vote on merit, let nobody bring up the neighbour or brother nonsense. You think when SouthEast PDP Governors were asked to get Ogbulafor to resign they carried out that assignment light-heartedly? They knew where to wait for Jonathan and are simply bidding for time. The so-called endorsement by Iwuanyanwu and Ezeife and co was designed to be delivered by the SE Governors but they dodged. Jonathan has treated the SouthEast with brazen insensitivity. It is almost like we don't exists. I think all those forcing themselves on Jonathan from the South East are on their own. His candidacy will not fly in the SouthEast. The Only way he can win the SouthEast is if there is a compelling argument that he is the best man for the job. UNFORTUNATELY I DO NOT SEE THAT HAPPENING. The South East is a problem for Jonathan, Bayelsa is a problem for Jonathan because Timipre Sylva will do everything to undermine him in his state. Amaechi is a man of conviction who will go to bed every night saying to himself that Jonny Boy is not good enough. Uduaghan will not wrk for Jonathan to win while his cousin and God Father languishes in a Dubai Prison, Oshiomole is in a different party and will probably prefer to undermine Jonathan and PDP in general. So Jonathan neither has the South East nor the SouthSouth. He will never crack Lagos, he is not charismatic enough to do so. Gbenga Daniel is IBB's campaign co-ordinator. The Hausa Fulanis are not necessarily excited about Jonathan. Babangida Aliyu is perhaps IBB's staunchest ally, Bukola Saraki will never support a Jonathan candidacy. not in this world. Governor Idris of Kogi is surely not in Jonathan's good books as he has been accused of drug peddling. So where are the numbers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ?After Jonathan wastes his time and money over his Presidential ambition. With time reality will set in and he will chill. |
chyz:On merit I will choose none even though I consider IBB more intelligent. On sentiments I will choose IBB for his open mindedness. It takes a large heart for a man called Badamasi Babangida to marry a woman called Ndidi and yet maintain her as a lone wife. |
10 Reasons why this endorsement is ridiculous from an Igbo viewpoint. 1. Goodluck Johnathan is not the best candidate from the old eastern region. 2. Goodluck Johnathan's Ijaw ethnic group do not believe in the old East and are still the highest opposers of Old East, so the sentiment of Old East is based on nothing. 3. Goodluck Jonathan Has less Igbos in his Government than Yar'adua or OBJ and can not claim to love the Igbos when his actions suggest otherwise. 4. Goodluck Jonathan as President has taken the South East for granted. Maurice Iwu, Sam Egwu, Ojo Maduekwe, Onyiuke-Okereke, may not all be great public servants but their are better public servants from the East who could have at least replaced half of these folks. But GEJ prefered others. 5. GEJ was part of those who initially ganged up to highlight the difference between a South-East Igbo ONOVO and a South-South Igbo Okiro when Yar'adua first took office. GEJ can not be a friend of the South East. 6. Vincent Ogbulafor could have made mistakes in his utterances. But his removal and rubbishing of Ogbulafor, the appointment of a compromised Nwodo whom GEJ can use to play football does not signify he holds the Igbos in high esteem. He is simply geering up to use Igbo sons and daughters as his tool. They even flirted with replacing Ogbulafor with Polycap Nwite because he is from River State. Talk about being divisive. 7. The retention of Dora Akunyili as info Minister instead moving her to a more suitable ministry proves the above. Dora Akunyili has been replaced by Ima Niboro in being the spokesman of GEJ which obviously is the right thing. But whenever there is a controversial announcement GEJ hides Ima Niboro and deploys Dora Akunyili to do his dirty job. 8. Since GEJ became President he has not flirted with the SouthEast in anyway, not openly nor subtly. He has largely ignored the SouthEast believing that by mere making up middle names like "Ebele", "Azikiwe", "Nnamdi", "Okeke" he will simply get the Igbo Vote. Surely we are not as empty as that. 9. The Ijaws were never our allies and never will be. If GEJ was Efik or Ibibio, I could see justifications for these baseless sentiments. But Iwuanyanwu's sentiments are based on nothing. 10. As we speak everybody who is somebody in Ijaw land from Oronto Douglas to Edwin Clark do not spare any opportunity to remind us who their allies are. They say the North are their allies and they have a proud history of working with the North for the progress of Nigeria. WELL IT IS TIME FOR THEIR NORTHERN BROTHERS TO STEP DOWN FOR JONATHAN GOODLUCK. THEY DON'T NEED ANY ENDORESEMENTS FROM THE EAST. If Iwuanyanwu and Ezeife believe that Jonathan Goodluck is the best candidate they should tell us that. That sounds more honourable. But if this is based on sentiments, Jonathan does not deserve any sentiment from the East. They should go and liaise with their born-to-ruin allies. |
Beaf:but the vaswani brothers had a curious Presidential pardon and are back in the country. meanwhile akingbola was not arrested in london. the man bought his own flight ticket, returned to the country and on his own showed up at the abuja efcc office. something must be giving him confidence, the whole efcc noise of an arrest is a charade. na part of the arangee |

RICO Government: How NSA, Attorney General and Jonathan's Chief Of Staff Rake In Billions From Economic Criminals Posted: August 4, 2010 - 14:55 Posted by siteadmin caption: Rogue Banker: Erastus Akingbola SaharaReporters, New York The brazen return to Nigeria by its most wanted economic criminal, Erastus Akingbola, former MD/CEO Intercontinental Bank has exposed the ring of racketeers in Goodluck Jonathan’s government. It is now being described as a RICO government, meaning a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations government. According to immigration officials, Mr. Akingbola was escorted out of a British Airways flight by an elite team of state security officials from the office of the NSA and lidded at the Protea Hotel in Abuja. Arrangements were then made for the Redeemed Church financier to be ferried to a secret location. Mr. Akingbola would be the fourth person to be controversially sneaked into Nigeria by a troika of the National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Bello Adokie, as well as Jonathan's Chief of staff, Chief Mike Oghiadhome, who was Deputy Governor of Edo state under the infamous Lucky Igbinedion. In a series of rackets, these public officials, with the full knowledge of Mr. Jonathan, have also flown in Dele Oye, a lawyer who fled Nigeria in the wake of the banking scandal that rocked Nigeria last year. Mr. Oye ran off after he was identified as a key character in the looting of Oceanic Bank, a bank ransacked by Cecilia Ibru. But after “settling” the NSA and the AGF, Mr. Oye returned to Nigeria. He did visit the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission later, but he was neither detained nor charged for his crimes. Thereafter, the powerful group brought in the Vaswani Brothers, two Indian brothers known to have scammed Nigeria of several billions of Naira in import duties, but the racketeers not only let them in, but also arranged a court ruling that declared their deportation—the second in a row—illegal. In fact, the Federal High Court also considered awarding penalties against the Nigerian government for the "illegal” seizure of their assets. The AGF, NSA and Oghiadome reportedly received several billions of naira in bribes from the notorious Indian brothers. A source at the Nigerian presidency told Saharareporters that the scam started with Adetokumbo Ademola, who acted as AGF for a few months before Bello Adoke was appointed. The largess from the Vaswani brothers nearly caused a major fracas between the AGF and the Chief of Staff, who thought the AGF had shortchanged the Jonathan camp. Saharareporters has authoritatively learned that the Chief of Staff collects bribes from all corners in the name of Jonathan's campaign for the presidency. The NSA, Gusau, runs a different racket that has compartmentalized the Jonathan's regime. Gusau, who leads an antiquated security team, believes he helped Jonathan gain stability in power, and is cashing in his chips. Mr. Oghiadome seems to be the new Andy Uba to Jonathan: helping to arrange bribes and all sorts of women to the president. Oghiadome's son, Chris, also runs a parallel scam, working in concert with Femi Otedola, the embattled African Petroleum chairman. Last week, Mr. Jonathan made a public address in Ilorin in which he criticized the high level of corruption and illegal acquisition of wealth in the country. He warned that if Nigeria did not take the right steps, “very soon the system will collapse.” |
If we start looking at past sins then no politician deserves to take part in elections in this country. |
This is not a very civilised behaviour. If you want to stop IBB get ready to do so at the polls. |
I don't think this is good news, Bokoharam can also decide to disrupt Jonathaan's campaing in the North and all of this sets precedence for Anarchy. If NANS don't want IBB they should organise themselves and vote against him at the polls. Its not up to NANS to pick and choose who can campaign and who can't. |
Have u seen the ADC overtaking the President just to pull out his chair for him to seat down? very ridiculous. I also think all this scary looking, army uniform wearing bodyguards should stop standing behind the President. They can dress in suits and disguise their identities a little. |
Voters’ register: It’s now N84bn, says JegaHeadlines Jul 29, 2010 Share | By Ben Agande ABUJA—NATIONAL Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, yesterday, said what the commission needed to compile a credible Voters Register was N84 billion and not N74 billion as he earlier said. The amount, however, did not cover an additional N10 billion that the commission was seeking as hazard allowance for its staff who would conduct the election, which brought the total amount required by INEC to N84billion. Addressing members of the Senate Committee on INEC at the National Assembly, Professor Jega, who was accompanied by all the national commissioners, warned that if the fund required for the compilation of the voters’ register was not made available by the second week of August, the task of compiling a new voter register would be very difficult. The INEC chairman said the N74 billion would be used for the purchase of 120 Direct Capture Machines, voter education, allowances for staff and training of staff on the use of the machines. He explained: “With regards to direct capture machine, we want the best machine which is laptop based and not hand held; which has a very good resolution camera and which has very good standard finger printing accessory and an extra power pack, in case of the battery running down. We also factored in some generating capabilities just in case everything failed and in our own country, you cannot guarantee anything. We have to take a lot of measures to see how we can improve on the situation. Direct capturing machines “Now if you take all these into consideration, the cost of the direct capturing machine alone – the unit cost from what we have got so far, and that is not using vendors, the unit cost is about $2000. If you calculate $2000 by 120,000 units of machine at $152 per unit, you will get about $240 million. That alone gives you N36.8 billion just for the equipment alone. If you are going to go through the vendor which is an option we are trying to avoid, then you have to factor at least 30 percent profit margin, so that in itself raises the cost of the equipment to N55 billion. “Then if you take the cost of the training, the cost of voter education which we have done, the logistical requirement in terms of transportation and also the allowances that had to be paid to the personnel whether they are for training purpose or for actual exercise, it comes to a lot of money. So from our own calculation, clearly we will need N74 billion. We realize that there was even an error in the calculation. We have corrected it and made it available to the executive where we first made that. “So we took all these things into consideration and, as I said, for purposes of planning, you have to use the highest figure. We would not say give us N55 billion and we run into hitches with the preparation with the direct suppliers. “The best thing is to go direct to the manufacturers and that is the option we are pursuing and we are doing a lot of discussion on that. But we have to have the money just in case we cannot get the manufacturers we have to go with vendors. That is really how the cost element is. If N74 billion is allocated and in the end we can only spend N55 billion, it is saving for the government.” Jega said the machines bought by Professor Maurice Iwu-led commission were substandard, adding that some of them had been given out to other organizations like the Nigerian Customs, Immigration and even staff of the commission as gift. In a news item on the commission’s daily news bulletin, INEC said it would need an additional N10 billion as hazard allowance for its staff. The bulletin stated: “Apart from the N74 billion required by the Commission to compile a fresh voters’ register and to provide for training and logistics, INEC will require another N10 billion to cover hazard and sundry allowances.” It added that in the past, allowances for staff of the commission which are obligatory were glossed over by the commission. http://nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html |
How much does Prof Jega really want? Why is he all over the place with his numbers? The INEC Chairman is expected to get his numbers right and Jega has started on the wrong foot. These are worrying signs and no one is saying anything about it. If its Iwu mentioning different numbers on different days, I can not fanthom what would become of him and these figures!!!! Why is everyone giving Jega a free pass? Like someone said in another thread. Prof Jega will soon become Prof Jaga Jaga |
mikeansy:Nwodo must be very very careful!!!! There is no need to sink with Jonathan. |
Babangida - PDP Buhari - CPC Shekarua - ANPP Ribadu - AC Na wa oh!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Nigeria can no longer defend its territorial integrity. If na Uwazurike now their p.e.n.n.i.s. go rise. |
Jonathan Goodluck forgets that a large percentage of Nigerians are not actually on Facebook. He will rich out to more Nigerians if he communicates via TV and Radio. Because those are the real media available to Nigerians. When will he grant a Press conference and take questions on his records.? Facebook is no substitute to allowing your people see what you are about on TV and taking questions. If people can not feel your passion how will they believe your programs and help you implement it. |
Kx:We are running a hide-and-seek Government. He is camera shy because he knows he is not up to the job. Tell him to call a Press Conference and defend his records on NTA, AIT and Channels TV. He will run away. No confidence whatsoever. After 50years of Nationhood we are old enough to ask for something better. |
JONATHAN GOODLUCK IS MORE OF THE SAME, We want Change in 2011 |
@Beaf You are joking right? when you say Jonathan has courted the South East? How has he courted the South East? By acquiring ridiculous Igbo Middle Names? There were even more South East indigenes in Yar'adua's Cabinet than in Jonathan's. He removed Ojo Maduekwe and replaced him with Odein Ajumogbia He Removed Sam Egwu and replace him with one Prof Rakiatua He removed Maurice Iwu and replaced him with Prof Jega and the list goes on. How many Igbo's have Jonathan appointed since coming to power. Fair enough those he removed were not up to the job are the time, but is he saying their are no replacement for any of these folks in the South East?. You know what? In 2011 we will also judge him fairly whether he qualify to be President and that judgement will also be devoid of sentiments. Not even ridiculous middle names will change that judgement. |
Who says he is the one updating that Facebook page? I thought he is stranded in Uganda? Governance by proxy. If he wants to communicate to Nigerians let him match on the podium and give a speech. The man is a con artist. |
Dear Mr Nwodo, I have followed with keen interest the debate surrounding Zoning the office of President in 2011. The commentators have so far been anything but honest, and this is for both those who argue for and those who argue against zoning. I think I speak for every South Easterner when I say you as Chairman must at this time be wise, fair to all and strive to be an unbiased umpire. You must go about your duty with a deep sense of realisation of who you are and where you come from. The South East has underwritten Nigeria's quest for justice, equity and fairness with the blood and progress of its indigenes. This history tells me that the only permanent friends we have in Nigeria's geopolitics is the truth. So do not support any region for the sake of it against the other because when they reconcile they usually make the SouthEasterners their victim. The latest tactics in the zoning debate is now to pass the buck for someone else to decide. At one end of the spectrum we have the Northern Governors Forum who have recently called zoning unconstitutional but yet suggesting they encourage negotiations to continue on the issue. Well if zoning is unconstitutional may be there is nothing more to debate about it is there? At the other end of the spectrum we have South-South Governors who are lobbying President Goodluck to run, while Goodluck continues to be his unwilling self and refuse to declare his interest. This is a typical Nigerian scenario, they are looking for who to scape goat and you must not allow yourself to be turned into this scapegoat. Ogbulafor made this mistake by making a pronuoncement. He was accused of being the most corrupt Nigerian since Abacha and as such removed; since his removal nobody is talking about Ogbulafor's corruption anymore because that was not what the hoopla was all about anyway. Here is the solution Make no further comments about zoning, do not call any meeting to discuss zoning. Let the gladiators fight the fight for themselves. Since the history of PDP in 1999 there has always been Northern candidates contesting against Southern candidates in the PDP Primaries. Abubakar Rimi ran against OBJ in 1999. Barnabas Gemade ran against Obasanjo in 2003. Rochas Okorocha ran against Yar'adua in 2007. Why cant Jonathan Goodluck run against IBB in 2011 in the same PDP Primaries. Let the gladiators bear their own cross. If Jonathan wants the job let him declare his interest and outsmart everyone else to become the PDP nominee. If Babangida wants the job let him outmuscle everyone else and become the PDP nominee. Please Mr Nwodo do not make any comments nor take any stance on zoning. Let the gladiators bear their own cross. Regards from your brother Gilchrist Okoye |
Odunnu = Sweet Kitty-Cat. not sure any Nigerian girl will call themselves that in a public forum and have their real pics up. |
~Bluetooth:so? who cares about your 50years of backwards politics that produces nothing but more poverty ![]() |
~Bluetooth:The problem is that you have not seen how ridiculous their activities can be at times. If the President's pen falls on the floor, you have the ADC running from 100yards away to come and pick it up. If the President is going to seat down, the ADC quickly overtakes him in other to move the President's seat for the President to seat down. These behaviours are ridiculous in my view. The President can do some things for themselves. It is time to humanise whoever is the occupant of that seat. This is 2010 and not 1960. The ADC whether and the rest of the bodygaurds whether soldiers, CIA, Secret Service trained, MI5 or whatever can be a little more descreet. |
and who will prosecute Jonathan's wife? |
I think it is time to review our Presidential security arrangement. This business of soldiers standing behind the President even in the FEC chambers is simply outdated. It is a military legacy and we need to learn to shade such legacy. Soldiers can still guard the President but 21st century intelligence should be brought to these things. I don't know what difference it makes having a scary looking man standing behind the President. He can dress in mufty while co-ordinating other security personels meant to guard Mr President. |
naijacann:Do you know what Odunnu means? I don't know any Nigerian girl who will like to use that as a public forum name no matter how sexy, nasty and wicked they are in bed. Just be careful so you are not chatting with a boy posing as a girl. If anybody say send me N1 before meeting them, no gree oh. You might just be chatting to a boy. |
This story has more to do with 2011 political calculations than fighting corruption. If they want to sack Ogbulafor they should kindly say so and sack him. Than giving a dog a bad name in order to kill it. It is amazing how a petition written to ICPC ages ago meant nothing until some people thought they needed to sack Ogbulafor to realise their Presidential ambition. A group of people that are yet to do anything about the recent 80 list of bribe takers in the Halliburton scandal. By the way when will Patience Jonathan be charged to court? |
