Car Talk / Car To Car Crash Test Demonstrates Double Standard On Vehicle Safety In Africa by markpenk: 7:57am On Feb 25, 2020
https://www.youtube.com/embed/UL_2MdSTM7g

In the first test of its kind, Global NCAP has crashed the best-selling pick up model in Africa, the 2019 Nissan NP300 Hardbody, into a second-hand Nissan Navara NP300 manufactured in Europe in 2015.

The unique car to car crash test graphically demonstrates the double standard currently applied by Nissan and other car makers to vehicle safety in Africa.

The difference in safety performance between the new African model and the second-hand European version is a matter of life and death.

The crash test driver dummy in the new African Nissan would have likely sustained fatal injuries, the driver of the equivalent second-hand European model would have likely walked away from the crash.

The second-hand European car is fitted with the life saving crash avoidance anti-skid system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), the new African version is not.
Crime / Re: How They Hack Your Details by markpenk: 1:45pm On Jan 11, 2020
Excellent article. They're doing the same on LinkedIn too. They'll hack the accounts of top/mid-level management professionals (some in your network), send you an Inmail saying that they have a proposal for which they think you might be a good fit.

Then, they'll ask you to click the link to view the proposal (usually from a reputable cloud account like Onedrive -Microsoft's cloud service). In my case, it was one guy from Amazon (senior management), and another chick from Toyota (senior management too). Nearly clicked if it wasn't for a sense of unease about the mail. Something just didn't feel right, plus I hadn't sent them any proposals or communicated with them. And I don't click links from entities I don't know or have a personal connection with.

I ignored the mail, only to check again a couple of days later, and find that they'd both put up disclaimers stating their accounts were compromised. Boy, was I glad I didn't click those links. Those hackers would have owned my a**.

Most people fall for this because they assume the messages are coming from those guys/people they know, not knowing that their accounts have been compromised. If you receive any mails like that, just jump and pass.

Be safe out there people.

livebyday:
Okay Hello All

This thread was created in response to a scam post in which @ Nostradamus tagged me. My condolences to the victim but here's the reality

Investigation and tracking costs huge funds, now except you are a family members unfortunately these amounts are too negligible for any serious agency to get bothered with had it been you where scammed of very large amounts then it's a different case. Hence most victims are stuck with the NPF as the only platform for assistance. I think if I recall the EFCC only get involved when it's 5 million upwards.

Here's a few pointers to other members

1. If you get an sms from a website asking you to click or visit or register please do not click except you where in the process of setting up some sort of profile online and they sent you a code via SMS.

2. These scam sms will come in form of konga.com, davido.com, lol.com, kok.com ,
Or your package has been shipped, or an SMS from Amazon when you know you didn't make a purchase or wining codes and bet tips . Infact last week there was this syndicate who send out sms to victims with Koran verses and links to online readings , this is how smart these criminals have become!.

3. Why do they do this? Once you click the links your phone has been compromised, they will view every single sms you send or receive, they will view every single password you enter on your phone and they will read all your WhatsApp Facebook and any instant.messenger chats on your phone. Any password you enter on your phone they will get it ...hence why you hear people cry that their WhatsApp of Facebook was hacked and they frankly can't remember ever sharing details or logging in anywhere else but their phone.

4. So to be safe once you get such sms don't open them just delete them...infact there have been cases where they use this system for kidnappings and ransome withdrawals.

5. Never I repeat never share your mobile number carelessly!!

6. Becareful the websites where you enter your number for registration, if you have a second number that you don't use for financial transactions use that one.imstead.

7. Very important: the number you use for Bank transfers , please never use it in an internet enabled phone, better purchase a feature phone like Nokia torch that has no internet facility, so if by error your child clicks the sms they can't get your data except you dare connect online. Like my main banking number is in an old.school Nokia 3310 while my other numbers are in smart phones.

8. Irrespective of your os Android or Apple this hackers can get all your information, and it cannot be patched because the same system used in tracking BOKOHARAM and kidnappers is what they have gotten and now use for fraud.

9. Don't be too alarmed as just follow the safety tips I shared and you should be relatively safe

10. Also if you get repeated flashing form +235 +233 +232 or some.number in the West Indies and such please don't call back..

I hope this post helps someone .. I know the criminals won't like this but surely and slowly we closing in on you guys. grin

All these guys actually have social anxiety disorder. Not introversion. Yes, introverts try to avoid unplanned social interactions or even dodge planned ones, but not to the point that they'd do most of these things.

If you doubt it, take a look at most of the guys/gals claiming that they're introverts here. Many would rather nearly die than interact with people. That's not being introverted. These guys just need to see a therapist to talk through their issues.

Foreign Affairs / China Now Has More Warships Than The U.S by markpenk: 10:32am On May 21, 2019
China now has more warships than the United States Navy. The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), informally known as the Chinese Navy, recently hit a landmark number of 300 ships-thirteen more than the U.S. Navy.

Although admittedly imposing, the number doesn’t tell the whole story. America’s fleet is much larger on a ship-by-ship basis, including eleven nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and an almost equal number of amphibious assault ships.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies’ ChinaPower project has uploaded an analysis of the PLAN versus the navies of several other regional countries and major powers. At 300 warship hulls, the PLAN is the largest navy in the world, counting aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, submarines, and amphibious assault ships. The U.S. Navy trails at 287 hulls, Russia has 83 hulls, the U.K. 75 hulls, and Australia at 48 hulls. According to CSIS, the Chinese Navy has more ships than “Germany, India, Spain, and the United Kingdom” combined.

The bulk of Beijing’s Navy includes 23 destroyers, 59 frigates, and 37 corvettes, or a total of 119 surface ships. Under the surface China has 76 submarines, including ballistic missile submarines armed with long range nuclear missiles, nuclear-powered attack submarines, and diesel electric attack submarines.

As in most cases, the numbers are quite what they seem. The bulk of China’s naval buildup has been in the area of surface ships, many of which are not suitable for long range, expeditionary warfare. Corvettes such as the Jingdao-class Type 056, for example, are small, lightly armed ships useful only for showing the flag and hunting submarines off China’s coastline and in nearby seas.

The next ship up, the Jiangkai-II-class Type 054A frigate, is slightly larger but lacks the ability to contribute to the defense of a carrier battle group or a long-range punch. Those two ship types alone make up a third of China’s fleet.

The major problem with China’s naval buildup? China lacks the major power projection platforms essential to any navy destined to conduct long-range operations. China has just one carrier, and no amphibious assault ships capable of carrying helicopters and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter-class aircraft. It has no cruisers, a surface ship larger than a destroyer and, in the U.S. Navy, the principle ship designed to protect carriers and amphibious ships from mass missile attack.

Although the U.S. Navy has thirteen fewer ships than the Chinese Navy, by total ship tonnage it actually outweighs the Chinese Navy by a considerable margin. America’s navy weighs roughly three million tons more than the China’s-an enormous advantage. The average U.S. warship is much, much larger than its Chinese counterpart, making them more capable in their assigned missions and capable of sailing far from home.

One reason for the U.S. Navy’s advantage: eleven nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, each of which weighs close to 100,000 tons fully loaded, giving the U.S. Navy a massive 1,000,000+ ton advantage. Then there are the Wasp and America-class amphibious assault ships, each of which displaces 40,000 tons, of which the U.S. has ten. The U.S. Navy also has 22 guided missile cruisers to China’s none, and the service’s guided missile destroyers are larger and generally more powerfully armed than their Chinese counterparts.

China’s hull superiority is no accident: it’s the result of a supercharged economy that allowed Beijing to increase defense spending by double digits for more than two decades. It’s also not over: China commissioned 18 warships in 2016 and 14 in 2017. (the U.S. commissioned 5 ships in 2016 and 8 ships in 2017.)

China is also putting the finishing touches on a second carrier, Type 002, and is simultaneously building two more Type 003 improved carriers. At least one Type 075 amphibious assault ship roughly equivalent to the Wasp and America-class ships is under construction. Finally, China is building at least four Renhai-class Type 055 warships, which the Pentagon classifies as guided missile cruisers. Not only is China poised to broaden its lead in hulls, it is also adding larger platform ships that gave the U.S. Navy its huge advantage.

Comparing the U.S. and Chinese navies is like comparing apples and oranges, but China is starting to build apples too, and at its current rate of naval construction, the country could have a fleet to match the U.S. Navy in a few decades.

China’s military is expected to peak somewhere around 2030, as the country’s population ages and its economy slows. Still, at 2017 levels the country will build another 154 warships. What kind of ships China builds and how large its fleet ultimately becomes could determine the balance of power in the Pacific.

Investment / Re: How To Invest In MTN Nigeria Shares. by markpenk: 2:00pm On May 17, 2019
You're a smart man. Stock values tend to dip within the first 90 days of listing, after the initial euphoria has worn off. Whatever prices you're seeing right now isn't the true price. It's largely buoyed by speculation and capital inflow. The "real" price often emerges afterwards. Listen to this man here folks, and hold your horses for at least 90 days. Good luck.

chloride6:
Dont buy MTN shares now!!!

There is a liquidity squeeze right now..

So the price is inflated...

It has added 20% from the listing date...

Wait let it cool off..

Then you can buy or wait for a public offering..

Properties / Which Areas or Estates On The Island Are Least Prone To Flooding? by markpenk: 8:33am On Nov 24, 2017
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm looking to move to the Island in short order. My single biggest worry is the high risk of flooding on the Island. We know the rains will be here very soon, and I really don't want to experience the flooding that many experienced this year on the Island.

Which leads me to my question: Where are the least flood prone areas on the Island? More specifically, anywhere between Lekki and LBS? -looks like the farther away from LBS the estates and areas are, the less planned/maintained (or maybe someone can educate me?). I'm also open to other suggestions if you have them.

All other things being equal -good security, drainage, roads, gated communities, and planned estates- I'd appreciate your recommendations. Please understand that I'm not particularly worried about rent and living costs per se. Just don't want to deal with a flooded apartment and/or street (okay, maybe the occasional flooded street. Definitely not a flooded home).

The farther away I can be from flood prone areas, the better really.

I'm hoping that this thread would not only benefit me, but also prove to be beneficial to other people who are thinking about doing the same.

Mods... Lalasticlala mynd44 lawyer... please epp me (make I no go become cautionary tale o) grin. Na beg i dey beg o. Please help a brother. Thanks.

Okay, so I was an ardent follower of the original Welcome to My Office thread -never participated but always logged on at the end of the day to read the latest updates. Decided to partake in this one because I think it has great potential, so let's do this:

My day at the office:

Currently run two small consulting agencies -one for the realty construction and home decor industry, second for small/medium sized business across multiple industries. Both of these provide lead gen and search visibility services.

So far, had five skype sessions with prospects. Closed one on a decent sized 6-month deal with the possibility of extending the contract to 24 months if the first 6 goes well, yay!.

Had a good session with the other three, who are looking promising. The last who is an enterprise prospect by the way, is still on the fence -wants to hear from a couple more agencies before making a decision. So, fingers crossed.

Reviewed tasks and assignments with the team, turns out we have a couple of laggards. These olorigbeske guys will do anything to extend a deadline. Well sha, I have told them to get their assignments to me by COB or else... grin.

Just finished a strategy session with my partners and currently at lunch.

Will most likely be doing some business outreach and reviewing other business opportunities as the days go by. In other words, it's been a good day so far wink.

Peace out fellas/mademoiselles.

P.S: By the way, anyone know of any good gyms around Amuwo axis? I'm fighting a losing battle with this my belly -the thing is insisting on "graduating", and me I'm not interested. Want to ensure it stays as is or flatter sef. E dakun, e epp me grin

Ifesi Andy Muoneme wrote and i quote ...

The Hexagram
The so-called “Star of David” is essentially a “hexagram,” nothing more, nothing less. There is no Biblical or Jewish evidence that traces this ancient occult symbol with king David of Israel. However, there is evidence that it was used by king Solomon, after he turned to pagan gods and the occult, late in his life, causing God to become very angry with him .

A Masonic book called The Second Mile, an Eastern Star book, reveals that the “six pointed star is a very ancient symbol, and one of the most powerful.” The hexagram is used in magic, witchcraft, sorcery and occultism and the casting of zodiacal horoscopes by astrologers. “It was considered to posses mysterious powers,” says A Concise Cyclopedia of Freemasonry.

The six pointed star is used as a “stand-by for magicians and alchemists. The sorcerers believed it represented the footprints of a special kind of DEMON called a "trud" and used it in ceremonies both to call up demons and to keep them away” (O. J. Graham, The Six Pointed Star, New Puritan Library, 1988, p.35).

Says Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, by Dr. Cathy Burns, “The Hexagram is formed by united the Water Triangle with the Fire Triangle, which is the Six-pointed Sart, Star of David, Solomon’s Seal, etc. When the two triangles (the ‘Water Triangle’ and the ‘Fire Triangle’) are joined together into one symbol, it forms a six pointed star known as a double triangle, hexagram, Crest of Solomon, star of the microcosm and the Shield of David, among other names. It is even called the ‘talisman of Saturn’” (p.38).

Occultists use it as a “stand-by for magicians and alchemists. The sorcerers believed it represented the footprint of a special kind of DEMON called a trud and used it for ceremonies both to call up demons and to keep them away” ( ibid. ).

Bill Schnoebelen, a former Satanist, tells us, “To the sorcerer, the hexagram is a powerful tool to invoke Satan.” In fact, the word “hex” -- as to put a “hex” or “curse” on people -- comes from this word.

The hexagram also has a sexual connotation. It represents sexual union. The triangle pointed downward is a female symbol and the triangle pointed upward is the male symbol; when they are interlaced it represents coitus, or sexual union of the active and passive forces in nature. A former witch reveals, “When the male triangle penetrates the female triangle it produced the six pointed crest of Solomon or hexagram, the most wicked symbol in witchcraft” (Burns, ibid., p.39).

In fact, the hexagram was also used by the ancient Hindus in the worship of their divine “Trinity” – Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva – as the “unity” of three gods in one. J. S. M. Ward adds that it is “strictly the sign of Trimurti, the Three in One, typifying the creative, preservative and destructive natures of the Deity.”

If you examine the so-called “Star of David,” or hexagram, closely, you will discover something astonishing. It has six points, forms six equilateral triangles, and in its interior forms a six sided hexagon -- thus it reveals the number of Satan the devil, or the beast of Revelation -- 66, and 6 -- 666 !!!

Don't know if I want to spend that much on an iPhone 7 clone. Looks pretty cool though.
