But that is not entirely true my friend. The state is involved in a lot businesses in China even today. So, China is still very much a communist state.
China today is a success story proving the liberals in America were not entirely wrong.
China is a communist state in name only but it is capitalist in practice.

Venezuela does not practise "full blown socialism", nor is everyone paid the same! They have generals in Venezuela, with guns, which I'm 100% certain they would use if they were paid the same as janitors!

And if every one was paid the same they would be happy with Maduro and wouldn't be trying to kick him out.
Lol. Socialism gave Maduro the opportunity to hold power without checks and that led to a dictatorship. This is one of the reasons why socialism fails. Anyways, on the issue of equal pay, socialism eventually makes everyone equally destitute while the politicians live the high life. grin

Whatever, is China a capitalist state or a communist state? Is the Chinese system meeting the aspirations of the Chinese people? We shouldn't be too attached to dogma.
Today, the capitalist America is heavily indebted to communist China, what an irony.
China is socialist in name but capitalist in practice.

There is nothing called "full blown socialism"! If you mean communism, just say so, or say you are speaking American.

Socialism does not function without capitalism, they are not either ors.
Lol. There is something like full blown socialism. Venezuela, under Hugo Chavez and Maduro, experienced "full blown" socialism. Infact, the so called socialist programmes in America are not strictly socialist programmes because they are funded by people's money and make use of products created by industries that are privately owned. Socialism that need capitalism is no longer socialism. grin

There's a measure of socialism in almost every modern state, even in the capitalist heaven of America.
I agree but those socialist policies are funded by tax payers money because nothing is free. That's why Margaret Thatcher said socialism works until you run out of other people's money. Tax payers' money are generated from their capitalist systems. The kind my topic is talking about is full blown socialism. wink

Those who contributed more or were vital to achieving a particular aim do get more! Or where else did they get the resources with which they did more if
they were not given more?

I have deep regard for you! What do you mean, "you don't know"?
Lol. The state compels people to work for the good of the state in the hope that what ever comes out of it will be distributed equally. They are given things like health care, welfare etc. The system soon crashes as people lose incentive to innovate and work and there is no such thing as free stuff.

When I said "... I don't know...," I meant that you left me speechless.

More what? You are a farmer in a socialist society, small land you plant and tend. Do you get the same as professors in universities get! Should you get what professors in universities get?
My point was that in a socialist state, wealth is equally distributed. A doctor would be paid the same as a janitor. Do you think that's right?

They don't get equal pay! Some people live in the mansions in the cities that were built before we went socialist. And some still live far away in their villages where electric poles don't stand.
grin grin lol. I don't know how to respond to this. Read my post and read what you wrote. Nevertheless, even their previous cash would be distributed equally.

those who commented earlier are at the age of 15-18yrs. they dont know the importance of the thread.
Don't mind them. They won't use this opportunity to learn but if they later have a failed marriage, they will say it's their village people. One even called this thread a negative thread. Lol, people always want to hear what they want to hear. grin

Follow positive thread. Not this rubbish kind of thread.
This is not a rubbish thread. It's for us to learn. We Nigerians like acting like good things are all that is destined for us. We act like bad things don't happen. Bad experience are part of life, we learn from them not run away and treat the discussion of them like a taboo. Don't live your life always wanting to hear positive things. Tragedies are part of life.

In a socialist society, "you" do not, all by yourself, work hard! Your arrow may be the arrow that struck the buffalo down dead, but "we" worked together to kill it, so why do you want to keep all the meat to yourself?

Share, dude. Unless you killed the buffalo and want to eat all by yourself!
Lol. In a socialist society, they would be those who contributed more or were vital to achieving a particular aim, why shouldn't they get more? Why should they get equal pay as others?

Socialism does not "give a set of people absolute power without checks"! You should be a part of the community exercising you own power to look after your own interest!
The "state"(a group of leaders) is in charge of the means of the means of production even though everything is owned by the people and they would all receive equal share.
Politics › Re: Dangers Of Socialism. by Martinez39(op): 10:19pm On Feb 10, 2019
budaatum:
No it does not, "NORMALISES ENVY" !

Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

In such a society, there will be no "poor" or at least, not so poor to be that envious because they know they have not done or had their forebears do what the rich had done to make them so rich.

Besides, the rich are not stupid! We demand the protection of the state, or hasta lavista poor people!
The nature of man's envy to have everyone below or on the same level as he is. One of motives behind socialism is the envy that the poor have towards the rich. Man's envy wants equality or superiority and alas socialism provides that equality. No one is rich, no one is poor.

I have been waiting to see how many minutes will be added on and now I can confirm that PL is biased against Mam city.
Against Everton with a goal up, the ref added 7 minutes hoping everton will equalise only for them to add another.
Now no additional minutes to enable them finish the good job today.
I thought I would have seen seven goals to nil.

This sounds more reasonable but I bet you a lot of people will not agree with u simply because of their inability to differentiate between hope & reality.Truly religious give us hope but what is the essence of the "Hope" that may not come forever. To those who believe in religion,Hope may be good. But to me,I think REALITY is better...
Reality is better and safer than any hope. Hope that can never materialise is of no use. Jesus is never coming back, there will never be a rapture, prayers are useless and there is no karma. Thanks for your input.

Family › How Did Your Marriage End? Any Regrets? by Martinez39(op):
Men and women on nairaland who have had a failed marriage or, as the case might be, failed marriages, tell us what went wrong. How did it end? Was it your fault or your spouse's fault? Do you have any regrets? What were the red flags you saw in your spouse? What would you have done differently? Get in here and tell us.

Finally, from your experience, drop your advice for those that are thinking of getting married.

NB: this is a serious thread, no derailing. We are here to learn as others here are about to marry or enter a relationship. We are not here to judge anyone and there is no need to feel ashamed. It's better to have many failed marriages than to remain with a bad spouse forever. Besides, failed marriages can happen to anyone as you are not a mind reader and you are not in charge of your spouse actions. wink

Apart from Man City and Liverpool, other clubs have a large number of amateurs who are paid heavily week in, week out. I don't know how managers can't recognise the obvious. Sarri needs quality defenders.

In other news, it's 4-0. A goal by Gundogan. Please, who can spell Chelsea?
1-0 eh ehn!

Every living thing was created for a reason.

Mosquitoes do not have any obvious relevance to us but they serve as food to some other living things like birds and frogs.

God has created everything to serve a purpose.
