RomanceRe: Is Feminism Really A Bad Thing? by marvinsync(m): 9:33pm On Oct 17, 2018
epelumi42:
According to Wikipedia, Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social equality of sexes. This includes seeking to establish educational and professional opportunities for women that are equal to those for men.

Following many posts I've seen here on Nairaland, it seems like people, especially men hate the idea of women identifying with feminists. Based on the stereotype that many have created from the women who claim to be feminists, the definition has changed to a men-hating, men-defying movement.

Feminism does not mean that men should be hated for playing the superiority game, it means that men should learn to see women as equals and not subjects.

Feminism means that husbands and boyfriends should not judge a woman by her ability to cook and perform home chores. No. That's sexism. Feminism means women is just as a man, maybe not in physical features. If a man does not know how to cook, a woman shouldn't be crucified for not knowing how to cook too. If a man cannot wash his clothes, his wife should not be expected to wash it just because she's the woman. No.

Feminism means that women should be allowed to take the reigns of power because they are capable, and not denied based on their sex. They should be given an opportunity to compete with men for the same position and win based on merit, like everyone else.

Feminism does not mean women should not respect men, rather, men should respect women and vice versa because they deserve the respect, not because of their sex. Women should not be made to kneel to the man because he's Superior. No. She should be able to do it because she feels it's right. The same way a man should bow for his wife. No one runs the Monopoly of respect.

Feminism does not mean men should stop catering for women. It means both sexes should cater for each other of they have the means. It should be done out of love than chauvinism. Women can provide for the man when he is incapable and not expect the man to always be responsible for her wellbeing.

Feminism means that women can be surgeons, engineers, and men can be nurses and secretary. No job stereotypes.

Feminism is right because no one chose their sexes. Males and females have their strength and weaknesses and should learn to live with each other in love.
feminism is a sexist word and I hate it

I'd rather egalitarian which means equality for all people

feminism breeds extremists and men haters , it's also the perfect cover for lazy women to want equal power but not equal responsibility

is there any word that always needs to be defined over and over again. like feminism?

people just don't get it cause the word is sooooo sexist
again egalitarian is better

Amakavula:
I want to keep this short : there's this colleague of mine who has been my friend for 10 years, and he also helped getting me my current job. But there thing is he has always wanted more than friendship but I don't see him that way.

Last week he asked me out again ( for the fourth time, I thanked him, and wished he stops ) and as usual I turned him down. He seems to have the believe that as colleagues I don't want him because He earn slightly above me. But it not true, I like him as a friend and he is a great friend nothing more.

But for this time, the fourth rejection, he was very angry, and said so many bad words against me ( And ingrate, and about whoring around in the office, a lie. ) thank God I dodged that bullet.

He sent this to our public office mail this morning. I felt sad, but shocked he belief this...

subject : For Office whores

women do not want your love. It is not what they’re after.
No, what women truly want is value. They want a combination of things that excite their dopamine receptors, none of which come directly from you loving her [\b]

She wants your value; your status, your wealth, your protection, your comfort. [A man that has all these things can excite a woman by telling her he loves her] only because it means that she is being given a gift. She does not love you. She loves those gifts, the transfer of your value.
Compare and contrast that to what happens when your value is gone.

[b] Your love means precisely nothing to her. Quite the opposite, it disgusts her . She does not want your love. She doesn’t want to be loved. She wants to be validated by value, and the words “I love you” do exactly that for her, providing that you offer her some value.

Men do desire female love. Your brain is wired to crave female love. This is not true with women, and misapplying this with them sets you up for disappointment when your expectations invariably aren’t met.

Your love does not bring with it any intrinsic value. To her it is as worthless as the air that comes out of your mouth when you say it. Treat “I love you” for what it really is – “I’m willing to share my value with you”, because that is what women really desire.
he is right na

what he said makes so much sense and can be applied to his situation

u don't love him cause u don't feel he adds value to u

but what made me angry was the igbophobia
there's was even one guy on nairaland that went as far as to say that him and his people called Igbo slaves ( like what?) some people even say they'll fight anyone that calls them Igbo

and I'm like why the hate ?

that's why now I'll make sure I'll beat (verbally)anyone in Igbo denial into submission

wat makes u think its Igbo culture ikwerre had first? cud d few igbo cultures of today not be by influence?

isoko r nt urhobo, cuz urhobo cannot prove they, same with oron n efik, so ikwerre r nt igbo, cuz igbos dont ve SOLID proof dat ikwerre came from them, all they say is "since ikwerre do this n speak dat, then they r igbo" n if uve read my former points u'll know dat dat statement is the real analogical fallacy
lord have mercy why can't u just answer na ,it's not fair

anyways I'll answer ur questions
how do we know ikwerre came from us , well simple cause there is no prove otherwise

the way ikwerre people are now can not just be by mere influence , if there was a tribe before then it must have been very very little and hugely out populated and then swallowed up completely meaning they were fused together and formed what u have today , so even if there are people with different origins it simply means they are the people that were culturally beaten and that they are the minority within the ikwerre

u say u want "SOLID" proof ur Igbo
,ur ethnicity is proof enough
and before u go on a comparison spree

like I've said before u can only have one major identity an isoko can not be urhobo because he is isoko irrespective of what he speaks or bears he already has a major ,original ,indisputable identity that's why ur comparisons are fallacies ur contradicting urself e.g if an isoko man ( u just said who he is ) speaks urhobo does that make him urhobo ( of course not uve already just stated that he is isoko)

when an ikwerre speaks and bears Igbo names then and says he's not igbo it's always begs the question if ur not Igbo then what are u?

listen u need to understand it's all politics , I've read several stories on the ikwerre , ive heard the complaints they had with being classified as Igbo , one story even said that the ikwerre don't wanna be Igbo because of the overbearing nature the arochukwu had over them , I've heard how during the colonial times ( when there was no ss and se everything was just called eastern) an Enugu man was put over them .

even Amadi a popular ikwerre scholar said that he and he believes most ikwerre people don't really have issues with the Igbo tag , that the reason he denies being Igbo is because of the arochukwu and the political effect of being called Igbo and this amplified after the civil war

so I understand u guys wanna maintain ur political difference and identity ,I really do and we could see behind all this

the issue I have is the igbophobia , some people carry this thing on their heads like die . when u call them Igbo it's like they wanna kill u , some even go as far as to insult the mainland Igbos ,like what the hell?

the other day an ukwani lady on this forum said that she know for real that the ukwani can be called a sub-ethnic group of Igbo , but she is not Igbo why? well that's what they say in their family and that if her dad hear u call him Igbo he can fight u (igbophobia) , that shes what she says she is no matter what the truth might be

So the truth is there is no reason why the ikwerre can't be called Igbos
I've asked u several times with no answer ,u know In ur heart there's no real reason

yes u do have every right to preach what u believe but we also have right to spit on ur beliefs and when we do u shouldn't complain about our rights

my point is make sense when u preach something , preach something that people can understand and relate to , have u heard of egalitarianism ? ,it means equality for all people
why don't u use that instead?

I've never heard a word that needs to be told the meaning over and over again like feminism , every time there's a topic about someone will always define it , why?
it means people just don't get it both male and female .

so I'm saying u don't need a sexist label like feminism

feminism is not gender war. am a feminist because I believe in equal representatio of both genders, this do not interfere with gender roles.
A man who wants the best for his daughter is a feminist.
Feminist movement come into play when girls are deprived of rights in society. when girls are relegated to kitchen and lack of exposure. When girls are made to believe that they have nothing to offer to society. Feminism is female liberation from inferiority complex
Feminism has nothing to with relationship or gender war. both genders needs each other.
ur wrong when u say a man that wants the best for his daughter is a feminist

u see u don't need the title

I kinda even despise the name FEMINIst which implies feminine which implies female and implies it's a woman thing

u don't need the label , just do what u believe in

the label feminism has be bastatdised brings of bad images to some people
so just abandon it and do and preach what u believe in
CareerRe: Mechanical Engineering Or Computer Science? by marvinsync(m): 11:02am On Oct 17, 2018
Gauss15:
I'd need a candid advice on this nairalanders. I'm a 300L mechanical engineering student but after my 200L, I noticed I was no more drawn to mechanical engineering as I'd have to do some courses I've no interest in.

So far, the only courses I've come to really like in mechanical engineering is mechanics, strength of material and machine designs. Reason being that I want to major in robotics.

I've had thoughts of switching to electrical and electronics engineering because of my interest in embedded systems. But, it'd take me back to 200l and I'd have to spend extra 2yrs in school. But I thought of borrowing some courses from Elect and then switching over to computer science as I've been into programming that it makes me drop my mechanical engineering's textbooks too often.

Because I had lost some money last year and my detachment from mechanical engineering, I had dropped from 1st class to 2.1 which stands at impeding my chance of getting a scholarship to further my studies in Robotics. I will not be able to come up to a first class unless I borrow tons of courses. Being that scholarships are highly competitive, I'm considering switching to computer science because it harbours my love for programming and electronics. I'm 25, and considering that I'd drop down to 200L as opposed to the 400l I'm heading towards, I was supposed to graduate by '20 but I'd be graduating by '21 if I change to computer science which is just a year difference. By then, I'd be 28.

Am I making the right choice? I really don't have the passion for mechanical again. I need some pieces of advice and possible outcomes of my decision.
I think u should finish mechanical engineering
u can do computer science anywhere and anytime , infact u can even specialise instead of learning the the useless stuff of computer science. graduate with a first class or 2.1 in mechanical and also learn ICT and trust me u can't be jobless

and let me tell u what I've learnt having a degree in computer science is not that meaningful as in unlike other departments the employer does not care about ur degree it's just about whether u can do the job or not in fact I even heard a guy say his lecturer said that u can't get a job with a degree in computer science alone u have to specialise further

u can never hear an application for a computer scientist , the employers are always specific in their requests like software engineer, web designer etc

so finish mechanical and learn what u want to learn about ICT

ure also wrong ikwerre dont all bear igbo like names, we have namrs like ovunda, weli, epirikom, nzeremunda, wenigho, e.t.c n since isoko is seperate identity from urhobo, we have seperate identity from igbo

Again, i doubt uve stayed with ikwerre people, our culture is not solely igbo, food, dance, sound, dressing is more like riverine tribes, lifestyle n aspects of our culture is influenced by dese riverine tribes(der r too many 4 me to name). All this long talk, this is a simple logic, efik is not ibibio, isoko is not urhobo, ikwerre, ukwuani, ika are not igbo (fullstop)
lol so ur a little different
what do you think Igbo is?

Igbo isn't a single tribe , there are some names that can only be found in certain tribes in the SE but that doesn't mean they aren't igbo

and like u just said u were "influenced" by ur neighbours
and it's understandable , that's how dialects are formed

when Igbo people migrate to another land , they become influenced by their surroundings and have different names for certain things and would have developed a different way of life ,u can't expect an Igbo from a landlocked area to have exactly the same culture with an igbo in an riverine area , even the food can't be the same.

that is why people say Igbo can best be described as a nation ( not just a tribe) which consists of various ethnic groups with a vast variety of dialects . I've even heard a lot of people say that ikwerre are even more Igbo like than abakaliki people , that is there are a lot of words in abakaliki that a lot of Igbo people don't understand but there is not doubt that they are Igbos

now uve never even once answered any of my questions , u keep mentioning , isoko , Efik , urhobo , all these are analogical fallacies

WHY AREN'T U IGBO?!

don't mention anything other tribe or any other comparison and say it straight forward and give reasons

WHY AREN'T U IGBO?!!

Im happy u said we are defined by what we are now, now 2 things u sud know, all dese are long talk for a simple matter

-ikwerre (now) do not have igbo culture, we have the culture of the riverine tribes

-if isoko n urhobo r diff, ibibio n annang r diff, then ikwerre n igbo r diff, whenever u come to SS you'll understand what am saying, (here we dont hear isoko person answer ufuoma, n tell her since ufuoma is an urhobo name meaning same tin in isoko, then isoko is urhobo, dat logic is wrong)
now saying ikwerre not having Igbo culture is an inaccuracy and u know that , and when u say u have the culture of the riverine tribes , that is also In accurate too and to vague a response

now like u said an "isoko person" that answers urhobo name is not urhobo do u know why?! because that person is an isoko person !( I just said that in the beginning of the sentence)
we already know who he is , u can only have one major identity

if a Nigerian speaks English that person is not an English man do u know why? cause they are Nigerians

u can adopt or borrow name from another tribe but at least u still know ur ORIGINAL identity and it's not like the whole tribe has that name or does all isoko have urhobo names ? or do all Nigerians have English names ?

but u see ikwerre is different u all have Igbo names and cultures and those are ur only culture , right now u don't have any other sources any other sign that links u to another culture , nothing!!!!
that's why I asked if ur not Igbo then what are u? because u must be something ( a Nigerian is not an English man because he is Nigerian he already has an original identity)

and something original

cultures have original sources , the isoko , urhobo and whatever have their own sources

the Igbo have Nri as their source
, Yoruba have oduduwa as theirs

what is the ikwerre source?

u keep saying just because ikwerre have Igbo name and speak Igbo doesn't make them Igbo
like u borrowed the languages or were forced to adopt them , well if u adopted it , when did u adopt it ? , what were ur structures before then , did ikwerre have obas instead of obi?
what were u before u became like this?

if u want ikwerre to be seen as a different and unique ethnic tribe then it must actually be different and unique! because right now u ain't so different from the rest of us and u know that

are you not aware that the SS tribes were quick to lose their language n culture to adapt a foreign one, they readily adapted some words n dressing from even the portugese, today niger deltans wear hat n hardly their traditional headwear, in their cities they even sacrificed their languages for pidgin, they were quick to lose their culture

ika may ve readily lost their culture for edo n igbo influence, nobody knows for sure, so dont say 'cuz dey r more igbo than edo' they might b neither.

despite what anyonelse choose to believe, I know people from SS understand these points, the monotribic nature of the SE n SW is what has made der thinking so narrowed n small minded(no offense)
u define a person by their culture , that's all that separates them from every other person , culture involves name , language , traditions and such

now it's Very possible for people to adopt new cultures , cultures grow and die , identity changes , u accept ur new culture and identity

if a Scottish , goes to England for permanent settlement and gives birth there and his children which normally would be Scottish start to bear English names , speak English overall have the English culture , they could be said to be English !!

do u think every English person has the same origin , do u think every Igbo has the same Nri origin !

who cares what u might have been before , u are defined by what u are now! , what u say and do , what we hear and see

when we hear and see Igbo we immediately think Igbo

when an ikwerre man says he's not Igbo the first thing that comes to every single person in the universes mind is but u have the Igbo culture , u speak Igbo and bear Igbo names

it's a self mechanism, because it seems like ur denying the realties on ground

so I've been trying to tell u why ur igbo so can u tell me for real why ur not , without comparisons ,like ika and such cause u always bring up comparisons

be straight with me

why aren't u Igbos!!

Its obvious youve not been to the south south, dats how u'll argue with isoko people dat they are silly for saying they r not urhobo, or. with annang pepo dat they are silly for saying der not ibibio

my simple question is, if these tribes can be seperated not as diff dialects but as diff tribes(n not bcuz of political reasons) then why cant ikwerre n igbo be seperate
forget ss or ika for now
and u haven't really answered my question

like I said when u see two people 100km away speak the same language then there is a connection, let's say u see me ( an Igbo ) speak English , I'm not English cause I already have a first identity an ORIGINAL identity with an ORIGINAL source , English is my second language but the fact that I speak English says there something connecting me to the English . why do Nigerians speak English ? because we were colonized by them !!!! there's the connection!
if a person speaks English is either he learnt if from an English person or a person who learnt it from someone who learnt it from an English person etc .. but overall all ENGLISH will always be traced back to England!!

U heard that ENGLISH WILL ALWAYS BE TRACED BACK TO ENGLAND!!!

SO IGBO WILL ALWAYS BE TRACED BACK TO IGBOLAND !!!

culture is a powerful thing ,it's the only thing that separates people , afterall the ONLY difference between a Yoruba and Igbo man is CULTURE

so let me ask u what is the ikwerre culture ?
Igbo!! , and like I've said igbo will always be traced back to Igboland

so what's ur story ?!
what's ur trace ?!
how do ur people trace back to Igboland ?!

how do u know ikas are Igbos with Edo influence, and not Edos with igbo influence, cuz of distance? after edo is ika, after ika is aniocha igbo(or r u now saying d aniochas rnt igbos) its like saying cameroun is farther from nigeria than benin republic

ikwerre n owerri dont ve same dialect, its my tribe u cant lie to me

we're not igbo, we're ikwerre, after all the word 'Igbo' didnt come the very day the tribe started to exist
because ika is more Igbo than Edo , very few of them have Edo names most of them is Igbo and their language is more Igbo and has very few Edo words

and as for Owerri , okay I wasn't to sure cause I don't speak Igbo myself but I've heard that someone said it's traceable to Owerri ,and nwga

but cross that

but can u answer my question on why u speak and bear Igbo names and have the same cultures that was enough to completely wipe out without a trace whatever culture u had before?

must everytribe in nigeria have bini or igbo origin? Its clear youve not been carefully reading the other post b4 dis point, ok look at ikas, their language, culture is half igbo half edo, they bear igbo as well as edo names like (abba, ozegbe, ikhans) but its only igbos that always lay claim, wat makes u think they r not bini pepo who were influenced by igbo cuz of closeness, why must it be the other way round cuz igbos say itz so

what weve been trying 2 say is if Igbos only proof that ikwerre is igbo is cuz they speak igbo n bear igbo names, then they have no proof at all, cuz in terms of culture(ancient beliefs, way of life n doing things, dressing, dance, food) ikwerre is closer to the riverine tribes(ijaw, ogoni) than igbos
the reason why I said Benin was because I heard someone saying u have Benin origin without proof

now as for the ika the reason why we say they are Igbo with edo influence is distance , like I said why would people 100 miles away speak the same language? there has to be a connection the ika are close to the Edo that's why they have some Edo influence but are not so close to the Igbos that u can say we influenced them

look we aren't tryna to force u ,its just y'all have serious identity crisis , the ikwerre people even have similar dialect to the Owerri people
why is that? did Owerri people use telepathy to make u speak their language? , there just have to be a reason why the ikwerre are like this , there has to be a connection and that's what I'm saying

trading?

lol, wenem truth is ikwerre is NOT igbo, n im not saying that cuz my mum told me am not igbo, i did research and found out what you said is true, same language doesnt mean same tribe, a good example is in rivers state where the ijaw people of bonny n opobo have adopted igbo as their language, that doesnt mean they are igbo

infact ive noticed the only people that call ikwerre igbo are either politicians for political advantage or ignorant nigerians or some(not all)Igbo people that want to force ikwerre as part of them so they can claim ph and access to the sea
lol so can u please tell me why u speak Igbo
and please give me a direct answer not all those
because I speak English does that make me an English man answer

I want to know directly why u don't just speak ,Igbo but bear Igbo names and cultures

abi u want to say u were colonized and we forced it down ur throat and up ur asses

and also if ur not Igbo then what are u ?
Benin? , if so do u have concrete proof or link to Benin , no need answering this question cause I know the answer is no , there is no evidence supporting a Benin origin ,

so why aren't u Igbo then? and why did u suddenly realise it after the civil war?

Rivers is only about 20% igbo, mostly in extreme rivers north near imo, go to ph and see if the ikwerre and ogba people see themselves as igbo

in Delta, igbos are about 20% too, ukwani n ika are not igbo and most are annoyed when others group them under igbo, they are their distint ethnic group

since you dont want to agree that more than one tribe can share a name, i wont talk to you again
nonsense

a lot of ikwerre and ogba see themselves as Igbo , a lot of ikwerre celebrities and prominent people have said they are Igbo
and as for delta , I've seen an ika man who says he's Igbo

but b4 u can say they aren't Igbo , ask them why they speak ,Igbo ,bear Igbo names and have Igbo culture and traditions ,

and note don't give me a vague response like , if a black American speak English does that make him an English man , we know the reason why they speak English

but can u tell me why those in delta and river have Igbo culture but say they aren't Igbo?
and if they aren't Igbo what are they?
and can they prove it?

and also what do u think Igbo is?

you think im contradicting myself because you think the ukwuani, ika, ogba n ikwerre are igbo, well they are not.

in delta, Igbos can be found in aniocha n oshimili areas, but when get down to ndokwa, obiaruku and kwale, you start to see the ukwani people, mind you this ukwani people are NOT a dialect or sub group of igbo( like aniocha pepo), they a different ethnic group all together

“Ranti omo eni ti iwon se. Remember whose daughter you are,” My father’s parting words as I knelt down before him to thank him for all he had done these past days—the money for my fees, provisions and everything. My farewell.

The next day would be the beginning of a new journey for me. I would wake up on a strange bed for the first time in my life. I would wake to a new dawn as a university student. It also meant that for the first time in my life, I would make decisions for myself.

Far from home. The big prayer bell that sat on the television no longer rang. My Mum no longer bored me with the rigidity of the food timetable for the house. There was no more fashion police “that is too short!” “Dont wear make-up!”

My new found freedom excited me. The smell of my new clothes excited me more—filled me with great pride, making me walk a little slower. My chest pulled out a little more, my buttocks arched further backwards, my waist twisting, no curling like a snake that just discovered its twisting skills.

Lagos was where my eyes opened. Where I learnt the act of make up with brown powder and cheap lipsticks. Where I knew that you had to do more than lipsticks to be the centre of a man’s attention. Where I knew that my mother’s message of getting pregnant if a guy touches you was not true at all. Where I knew that a girl could protect herself, with condoms and common sense.

It was where my auntie’s advice made more sense to me. Auntie Abeke, my buxom aunty, the one with the large buttocks that made the chairs creak in pain; the creaks, a witness to our conversations.

“A girl who sleeps with a man before marriage is cheap,” she said, pronouncing “cheap” as “sheep”.

What of a girl who sleeps with more than one man? I wondered but never asked; I only nodded in agreement.

So each day, I held my head up, chest out, and glided gracefully around town proud to be ‘expensive’. I raised my nose at my roommates as they spoke of their sexploits—Expensive Hauwa, the one who would go every Friday to meet Alhaji for the weekend; Shameless Tola, who had no shame and kept female condoms in different parts of her bag; Happy Happiness, who boasted that all the happiness in the world dwelt between her thighs. I, untouched priceless, had nothing to say, until…

I met a fine suave dude. Very tall, well-built third year student. He had an easy laugh. It was that laugh that got me. It was that laugh that melted all the hardness within me.

My eyes were his first love.

“I love your eyes. I love the way they look when I look into them. The way I see myself in them, in you.”

“I love your eyes. I look into them and see my dreams become a reality.”

If his laugh got me, his words finished me. The words broke down the walls of Jericho I’d built around myself. Walls that brick after brick of words had put in place, year after year.

Then, he would come to Aunty Abeke’s house every day to visit me… always coming with gifts. For me and my Aunty.

“You know Adunni, you should begin to think about marriage.” She said one day.

“He is a fine gentle man.” She said on another.

Alone with him, he would touch me. He would start by staring into my eyes, and saying things about dreams and visions merging there. His words started melting my insides and things poured out “down there,” and made my pant sticky.

Then, his hands would stay long on my face, stroking it. Then, travel down my breasts. Then, I would begin to quake. Then, it would travel further down, down there. More stickiness down there.

Then, I would get upset because I did not know this thing that he was doing to my body. I did not know how to control it, or myself. So, I would get upset.

“I’m just playing, oya, I’m sorry.” He would say.

On a certain cold Tuesday, he came to take me out to see a play on the campus in a borrowed ride.

I wore my favourite orange dress. The one that ended right on my knees, with a little slit around the cleavage. “Small enough to tempt and not fall,” my room mates called such slits.

When we got on the university grounds, he swerved off into a narrow path which led us further into the darkness.

Then he stopped at a corner.

“Where are we?” I asked. He got down, opened the door on my side and started hitting my face while dragging me down forcefully.

“You think the gifts were for free?” He asked, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down like stuck boiled egg unsure whether to go down into his stomach or come out through his mouth.

“The watches, the phone, just for me to touch you? Answer me!” The veins in his neck were like tiny serpents threatening to strike me. I had no chance to open my mouth as his blow landed on my left cheek, and shut my mouth.

The words that were forming in my throat were sent back to where they came from, scattered nothings. I remember having the sensation of having my mouth filled with eri, corn shaft.

Things happened so fast: the struggles, the blows, the ripped clothes and the screams. He spread my legs, and made to lower himself on me. I went berserk, bonkers, bananas, all at the same time, in the same moment. I fought with all the energy within me. Gave him a kick between his legs. Pushed his groaning body off me. I did not leave without leaving a reminder. I bit off the tip of his penis, and left him writhing in pain. I was so mad, I did not know what I did until I got home.

Aunty Abeke’s voice kept ringing in my ears, with each step, with each blast of the winds against my sodden bloodied face. My dirty legs and hands sweating profusely like a Christmas chicken.

“I will not be cheapened!” I muttered to no one.
