Thank u Afam if u a a better ritualist go ahead if u think ul make a beta robber go ahead if Julius Berger refuses to giv bribes or concession to get a job quacks will be given the job. Y don't we correct d anomaly in d pay structure do u hav an idea hw much a fresh graduate earns in d ministries and he wasn't trained by govt but his parents so y shld he hav an oportunity nd then not utilize it take it or leave it corruption keeps dis country running dat is y some people hav not formed militias dats y som pple can go to school. I'm not sayin corruption is good but we can't just allow pple witout d requsite expertise get jobs just because we won't compromise. My logic mayb faulty on this but I believe dat if u are not involved in a problem u may not be able to understand how d problem works and hence won't be able to address the probs or y do u think internet hackers are employed to find ways to secure data? |
Sagamite, Umarus achievements include 1.Respect for the rule of law and the judiciary, up until Yaraduas tenure we had started to 4get dat a courts decision is final 2.Transparency in government. 3.Improved electoral process even witout an amended electoral act. 4.Better engagement with labour unions and wholistically and sincerly resolvin disputes. 5.Independence and Seperation of powers in the diff arms and levels of govt 6.Freedom of d press. 7.Improved road network, Benin lagos rd as an example. 8.Reduction in corruption as evident in the reduced scale of scandals as was d usual practice in d past. @Alxmyr Umaru shld not be considered for d worst he is beta dan Obj,IBB nd Abacha and his tenure is yet to end. Let d parameters be d same mayb u shld just wait 4 him to preside ova d conduct of d 2011 elections den compare wit d 2003 elections |
@poster Nigerians didn't receive the amnesty announcement with gladness or enthusiasm they were skeptical and majority of us didn't give it a chance even b4 takeoff a lot of editorials analysed why and how d amnesty wld fail no one even gave it a chance of survival yet d govt went ahead and we achieved what we have so far. The govt is ontop of d prog u hav nothing to fear just keep prayin, the masterplan 4 d ND already exists funding is being provided d ex militants are still bein rehabilitated, let's just pray for success because Yaradua always says "we can't afford to fail now" that is as a nation we can't pay d price of failure. Mbulela y wld u say somthin lik dat, don't worry God is on our case nd pple lik u wld be disapointed further |
With pple like Afam who can pontificate and look down on bribes dis country will go nowhere cos all he is interested in is not soiling his name nd hands while pple lik d councillor who has received her share of all that they are doin is paying some back to the society. Afam told us he turned down a N6b project just because he was asked to grease a palm even though d other companies knew nxt to nothing on d project he walked away d truth be told dat project wld still be executed nd Afam cld hav made some good money but now someone who knows nxt to nothin wld do d job he won't do it well and d profits wld also not be contributed to society. Afam can decide to play it d Nigerian way get d jobs done use his profit beta d society and still fight corruption. America as it is today was not built by saints |
@Afam wat was his position on 3rd term? The question is d worst leaders not who tried try telling us in ur opinion who was d worst and if u want u can list from worst to bad |
Afam I c u hav made enuf to be comfortable nd wen u drive along d streets u c children sellin pure water because they can't go to school nd u feel well its not my fault pls if u hav d oportunity kil one to save hundred make d extra money and completely give it to charity and u wld hav set dis country on a beta pedestal instead of actin or bein a saint in hell |
Saga if Obj was d only leader we have had he can't be considered for the best because he performed woefully what was his contributions to the Electoral process in dis country, rule of law, militancy in d Niger Delta, the economy as a whole do u even realise d amount he owed pensioners on leaving office local contractors the banks he consolidated where are they today the debt buy off what impact has it had on d average Nigerian, what was his contribution to National security, freedom of d press, what did he contribute to education those who got admited 4 a 5yr prog in 2001 completed d prog in 2007 thanks to Obj vs ASUU, what did he contribute to d power sector and critical infrastructure in d country even d lagos abk thru otta was made an eyesore he was busy demolishin structures in d FCT yet how many new districts were developed how many times did we have to endure total shut down of economic activities just because of his wicked policies and u think he shld be considered 4 best president d only advantage he has over yaradua is his health, greed, loudness, ability to bully d oposition, and so on. Pls wen d history of dis nation wld be written Yaradua would be beta favored than Obj |
Afam y wld u turn down a 6bn project wen u seem to be d best man available somone else witout d required skill will grease d necesary hands get d job and do it shoddily u cld hav taken d job deliva a superb job made ur profit and u cld den go ahead adding value to pples life d way deborah was doing. Let's not kil dis nation wit principles dat takes us nowhere |
Saga wat is objective in comparing Obj to IBB apart frm dat Obj can never be considered 4 d best leaders in d country. The parameters have to be d same nd Obj was not beta than Buhari, he wasn't beta than Muritala he couldn't hav been beta than Azikwe so how cld he come to be considered 4 d best president even Umaru's first 3yrs has been beta dan Obj's first 3yrs |
At least she decided to spend her money on d community even if it is 4 2nd term or a higher office pls her pple shld encourage her. If Senators nd Members of Assemblies copy this things she has done even with stolen funds would we be complainin beta 2 use d money dis way to win future elections than amass all d money to pay 4 future elections |
@Sagamite, to whom much is given much is expected Obj being democratically elected just after coming from prison and offered d position to appease d freest and fairest election onlt to conduct 2 shams called elections sounded d deathknell to d power nd energy sector to have levelled an oil community(odi) among other things then to be compared to d IBB is a disgrace. We expected much frm him we thot he cld be our Mandela he almost made himself our Mugabe that's Y I'll consider him worse than IBB. |
@Sagamite Obj had d position 2ce he performed terribly on both occasions. He was democratically elected on d 2nd ocasion yet he performed as maximum ruler witout obedience or respect for the rule of law and due process. All economic indicators went up it was because of d global boom which also gave birth to dis global crisis dat was y d economic indicators went up not because of his style. Give or take d margin btw Obj and IBB is slim any one cld hav bin 2nd to Abacha as a matter of fact we cld call it a draw cos IBB annuled d freest and fairest elections ever held in dis country while Obj conducted d worst and 2nd worst elections in this country. I rest my case. |
Mai suya I don't agree wit u dat just because he is president anybody shld just hav access to his medical records even if they are his political opponents and who says 150m nigerians demand to kno atleast I don't demand it cos I think its not important and that shld be minus one from dat figure and I can assure u dat a good number of Nigerians who understand wat it is to be critically sick or being a relative to a very sick person disagrees with u. Sagamite u may go ahead nd impeach if u lik. This man was sick and rushed out of d country and has been in ICU since then the only pple who hav access to him are his ADC nd Docs even his wife does not hav unhindered access the whole noise abt his absence possibly has not gotten to him and I restate here that Jonathan does not require a letter or a resolution by the NASS to act as president its d power mongers who want to put d nation in a limbo who were insisting that witout d leta Jonathan can't act fully in d capacity of president when his only recognised role in the constitution is to ACT in the absence of d president even when d budget may hav bin presented to Yaradua he may not hav been in a position to argue d brief may have been ur Vice have refused to sign this on ur behalf sir so y blame him? |
, Mans inhumanity to man, |
From the worst to the bad let's go 1.Gen Sanni Abacha 2.Gen Olusegun Obasanjo 3.Gen Ibrahim Babaginda 4 Gen Yakubu Gowon although he has tried to atone by leading Nigerians in praying for the nation. 5.Alh Shehu Shagari. All other leaders tried their best eventhough that best were not good enough to revert what these leaders have caused. |
This shld convince us dat Yaradua never intended a vacum in power its d power mongers in d FEC dat were trying to cause confusion. Fellow nairalanders its not abt seein him its abt compassion for a fellow Nigerian who is in a critical stage of his life his battles in d last three months is a battle of life nd death not politics, he is a man dat believes in d power of God to give and take both life and power. Our hearts as a nation should reach out to him,his wife and family cos these are tryin times. The truth be said not just anyone would go into visit a critically sick person in intensive care docs in d house can confirm this, now the onus is on Jonathan to peacefully ease him out of office by takin all diplomatic and official process and fairness to the man. I pray he survives, personally I love him but I also know dat God loves him more and only God can give life and only he can take it, Father God let your will be done. |
Beaf d problem is not Yaradua or Goodluck there is no question of who wil be worse they are one and the same Jonathan wil continue wit wat Yaradua has started my only praya is dat they allow him work and he shld earn d party ticket as dis wld also show that we are on d match towards progress and true democracy witout ethnic sentiments. |
Chiosor don't 4get Obj is d only democratic leader to serve two terms in this country and what I'm sayin in essence is dat any other leader who performs worse than Obj can finally kiss d nation goodbye. Obj didn't increase d price arbitrarily why did we always have to endure strike actions due to price hikes chiosor even wen u want to state an obvious lie be bold enough to be ready to defend ur position I also am not interested in arguin wit u Yaradua is a better leader than Obj no matter wat d western world wants us to bliv or d progressives u talk abt are they d same pple who had to endure police harrasment for their opposing views to his govt. Yaraduas biggest challenge has been his health and the absence of any good foundation by our past leaders and the distrust d average Nigerian has 4 its leaders |
@chiozor mayb I shld take u frm ur last statement which is fundamental Obasanjo can not and should never be considered as d best president where wld u place Nnamdi Azikwe, what of Murtala Mohammed even Buhari/Idiagbon. Incase u don't kno Obj had d support of d majority he had our goodwill when he just came in but he wasted all dat goodwill and despite all d good intentions of Yaradua he does not enjoy d goodwill of d populace yet he has gone ahead achievin wat can be achieved tak a critical look at our roads today they are improvin d Lagos Benin xpressway is gettin better a man who disobeys court orders at will should not be nominated as a best president a do or die president can't be our best president a man with less dan 72hrs to go increased d prices of petroleum products and sellin our refineries witout due process shld not b considered for best president even 4 all his misdemanour we shld b considerin de-listin him as a former president. Now u blame civil servants for his inability to solve the power problems but will take Yaradua to d cleaners for the same problem make your enquiries at PHCN they will tell u that this administration is better Obj had a tenure where d power stations were in need of total overhaul yet his daughter was involved in d corruption dat killed it now the population in d urban centers hav escalated and Obj failed to plan and prepare 4 dis infact the power probs we have today can't be said to be Yaraduas fault but Objs legacies. Chiosor Obj is a sad story of disappointment to this country he is a wasted investment it wld hav been beta 4 dis country if d Civil war had claimed him. |
Beaf in response to ur post I wil lik to say that the constitution is not our problem instead it is d politicians and self acclaimed leaders of thought. If u take a critical look into our constitution u wld c dat d VP has no defined role other than act in the absence of d president. What Aondoaka and co wanted was an Ag president witout d powers of a president but Jonathan was too smart and wld not tag along and instead of going to d media as an Atiku wld do he held them all to ransom. He simply refused to act even after aondoaka got d court judgement Jonathan chose d duties he wld perform and those he wld not and this is obvuous in d ceremonial activities he acted as president, deploy troops to Jos approved some contracts but refused to swear-in perm seconds and approve d sharing of the excess crude where he specifically told the govs that he was actin as president but is not d president and for all this Jonathan should be given kudos. The Assemblys resolution does not empower Jonathan he had been empowered since d first day Yaradua travelled the resolution only acknowledged him as having the power that is also d reason y an Ag President is never sworn in and in the eventuality of death the Vice is sworn in as President immediately there is no recourse to the Assembly and in d case of Ag when d president returns he resumes immediately he only transmits to d assembly 4 d purpose of their knowledge that he is back immediately the VP goes back to his seat. Jonathan had to go the whole hog this time because he knows though unofficially dat d president isn't comin back soon wit his cabinet reshuffle I assure u this same constitution would be used in easin Yaradua out peacefully. All Jonathan has to do is demand the medical report of d president officially and I tell u dat report is not good because aondoaka has known this all along and the docs have been saying that Yaradua shld he ever get well shld not be allowed to do any strenous work lik worryin abt d future of over a 100m people. I assure u that with this same constitution and careful treading by Jonathan, Yaradua will be eased out and everyone includin the North, south and immediate family of Yaradua will have no complaint. In conclusion I wld like to take ur mind to d Feb 6 elections, its d same electoral act presided over by Obj to give us d 2007 disgrace that was used that delivad a credible if u don't want to say it was free nd fair but at least credible where dose who lost have already accepted defeat in d spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood. This has increased my faith in the country. God bless Nigeria. |
I think rethink made a lot of sense and mbulela is just a blabber who would also criticise himself and not believe that he can solve our problems even if he is made President. Truth be said all dis money shld hav bin shared a long time ago but Jo just used it as a tool pls look at d post again where it said that an Abuja high court asked him to carry out presidential functions but not to act as president was just been sarcastic and telling d same govs who said there was no vacum to feel d absence of the man. I hav said it a lot of times in this forum that Jo didn't need a letter to act as president all Jo wanted was for all and sundry to know dat he is truly d actin president most especially wen he was convinced that the man will be away for a long time and this is y I hail him as d grandest politician in our clime. Approval of funds does not mean stealin money, money must be shared and the onus is for the people employed to fight corruption ensure dat d funds are not mismanaged at least nobody will close his shop to business because there are thieves in d neighbourhood, history will always be there to judge leaders. I rest my case like rethink and say God bless Nigeria and have mercy on us we have come this far becauase of God |
Felele there is no blatant lie in wat I said Nitel was neva given adequate funding for their operations not to talk abt all d corruption in high and low places in which Obj and Mko were all involved at various times. What do u tink Obj wanted to achieve wit d deregulation of the downstream oil sector and sale of the refineries, he would have solved d problem of scarcity but would have sold us out to d point where u will have to sell ur car to buy fuel because under his plans no refinery wld work just sell to Dangote and Otedola who would only use the storage facilities and continue importation in a fully deregulated but oligarchic mkt where they in junction with the expresident witout recourse to d new president fix petroleum prices. Obj vs Yaradua Yaradua beats him hands down startin wit 1st we have 8yrs under Obj,Yaradua has gone only 3yrs the N/delta where Obj couldn't achieve anything despite being a southerner Yaradua achieved peace without a gun shot. The governors under Yaradua are all workin better witout undue interference or bullyin that's Y Lagos gov is performin,d A/Ibom gov is performing Anambra gov could win a re election witout decampin even witout d electoral reforms in place under Obj d Lagos gov cld not perform cos he didn't c face to face with Obj, Obi had to fight for 3yrs to get his mandate and this was only possible after Ngige nd his godfather had fallen apart and when it was time to go conducted d worst set of elections this country shld ever see. Obj was neva tired of increasing fuel prices without due consultations with anybody collapsin d whole economy by all d needless strikes Oshiomole had to call it is on record that since Yaradua came on board fuel prices hav gone in only one way and that was south, Yaradua has engaged everyone who has to be engaged in discusing deregulation in a bid to get consensus b4 d deregulation begins. How did Obj fare with ASUU compared with Yaradua, wat abt infrastructures 4 8yrs wat did Obj achieve in d power sector nothin or y are we so hard pressed on power now the list is endless Obj was and is a national waste considering the fact that he is a Product of Nigerias investment in social services a poor man who went to secondary school without shoes, with all that he did in office can any child in his administration who has to go to school barefooted dream of eva becomin a president. Obj worst president Nigeria ever had |
Dora calm down these are critical times 4 d nation sometimes we allow sleeping dogs lie and Aondoka u meant no harm just do wat she wants and let us all go ahead there shld be no need to bicker over this there is an urgent cal to national assignment so this isn't a time for personal egos |
Jonathan shld pls go ahead wit d 7point agenda cos no 1 agenda can be solved to the exclusion of the other agendas. All those clamourin 4 a 1point agenda are just sayin muddle evrythin into 1agenda which will make it dificult to identify where d govt is makin progress and where the challenges and draw backs are coming from. How can u truly address d power problem in exclusion of the Niger delta and wat wld be d value of stable power wen maternal mortality has escalated and the populace is unhealthy and there is no food to eat. Pls let's leave d fire brigade approach and give our support to this administration as they try their best or worst as d case mayb to wholistically address d multi dimensional problems of our nation |
Yes we are practising democracy. When America started their democracy blacks were not allowed to vote or be voted for despite having their first declaration that all men were born equal yet later adopted dat a black man should be 3/5th of a white man but today they've grown to d point where d pple who didn't count who were a fraction of a human being hav finally produced the president. We shouldn't lose hope or even destroy what we Share Goodluck had d option of takin ova wen d circumstances were not clear but he rather chose to allow his position defined and agreed b4 steppin in. |
@egift and felele let's state it categorically, I will say this as a mata of fact and u can try doin ur research. Prior to d privatisation of Nitel Obj held back approval for MDAs paying their debts after d sale to himself and co approval was given for all MDAs to pay their debts the money which was sposed to be pumped into d company was siphoned and shared without even considerin d welfare of dose staff u try to demonise because they charged ur father 250k 4 a line in d past. The diff btw Yaradua and Obj is dat Yaradua is sincere abt anythin he tries to do for this nation as cld be easily seen in the amnesty deal while Obj is never sincere in anythin he does and the N/delta and the electoral process of 2007 shows. Compare Objs planned deregulation and Yaraduas deregulation, Obj wasnot interested in negotiations but Yaradua is called go slow because he is still waitin 4 a consensus and all negotiations completed even when he promised that he would never approve price increase in the official price of PMS the only movement of PMS has been downward. Yaradua may not hav been our best president ever but he is beta dan Obj, objs only advantage over Yaradua is Objs health and Greed. |
The immediate action I would lik to c is 1.Mending fences in the FEC because there is and shld be nothin personal in all that hapened in d last 3months and also to mak any meaningful achievement he needs the support of everyone or atleast a majority of members of d FEC. 2.He should concentrate on the 7point agenda of the administration he should ensure that synergies between d ministries work he does not need to dump any of d agenda atmost he should prioritise d agendas and ensure that ministers are held accountable for meeting their parts of d agendas 3.He should ensure that all projects and contracts given in the N/Delta are not politicised and make sure that d projects are started and sustained and shld ensure that d north or other parts don't feel marginalised but rather ensure that their projects go on too so as not to be seen as being partial. 4.He should follow up on pending bills in the NASS wit a view to them bein passed chief among them are the PIB,Electoral reform bills,Appropriation bill. 5.He shld ensure that the budget implementation is tracked frm the word go so dat level of implementation wld be higher this year 6.After he has set all that in motion and mak sure d cabinet is hard at work request for the medical report of the president and then set in motion the process to ease him out of office and he becomin substantive president. 7 He shld then start setting up structures that can give him the ticket and the mandate to be president by 2011, if he plays d politics right he can get it even those who stood firm by Yaradua wld be ready to stand firm by his side cos in politics there are no permanent friends just interests |
@egift did Nigeria as a nation have any other choice but to be the fastest growing telecoms mkt d question has been and should be how did that impact on our local telecom provider? It failed so if Obj shld get credit for the success in d telecoms sector he shld also take the credit for destroyin NITEL esp wen u take his role in d privatisation saga. So wat Obj gave wit d right he took more with his left dats y I'll vote him our worst president |
@Demoladoc: U don't swear in an Acting President, Jonathan was not sworn in as Actin he has only been sworn in once and that was as Vice President eventhough he just began exercising d powers of d president if Yaradua comes back today Jonathan goes back full time to his role as VP and Yaradua can decide to revert the reshufflement can recall any minister Jonathan sacked can sack the permsecs and so on. The letter is not an issue all Jonathan wanted was 4 evryone to know that he is in charge and clear all doubts and above all in d interest of peace in d land |
Na_so u don't get it the moment d president is absent d vice acts as d president today Jonathan is not the president of Nigeria he is d vice and only actin dat is d reason y u don't swear in an actin president Yaradua remains d President of this country while Jonathan is the Vice. Yes mayb Yaradua shld be impeached for gross misconduct but remember he answers to 150m Nigerians who have been represented by members of the NA so the majoriti of dose shareholders he answers to have to agree that he is in gross misconduct just lik u can go to work late and ur boss would look the other way just to allow the work go on or when he is fed up can discipline u and just the same way he could also decide to cook up som allegations and sack you for gross misconduct so if anyone should declare the President in breach the NA should be but they are aware of d situation and are praying for him. The onus lies on Jonathan to ease Yaradua out of office in peace and the nation in peace he has d knowledge and as a friend said "Jonathan is not a politician but a man with an assignment from God" |
@na_so do u tink dat we actually needed a letter to empower a VP to act? The truth is Goodluck is d grand politician wat Aondoaka nd co wanted was an acting president witout d powers of d president and Jonathan was wiser than dem all dat was y he insisted on not doin a lot of presidential tasks until evryone agrees dat he has all d powers of d presidency and he achieved this witout a single word just by kipin quiet somtin he learnt frm d master Yaradua. Yaradua did us a favor by insistin on not sendin a letter but instead allowed it to play out the truth is once d president is absent the VP takes over there is no two way abt it the only reason he is supposed to transmit to d NA is so they know he is not AWOL not to empower somone who has already been sworn in. In a scenario where d president on state visit to a country is kidnapped or held hostage do we need a letter to empower d vice to take charge as d commander in chief to request the immediate release of d president or declare a war or would we have stood still waitin 4 d president if the army of cameroun or niger crossed our borders even Jonathan would not allow it to happen. The truth is Jonathan didn't want to be a lame duck actin president who would approve budget but can't discipline d ministers and when decisions taken are not in tandem wit some peoples views they would disobey and insist dat the president shld resume first. |
@egift Obj can never be said to be our best president infact he is d worst in our history wateva he gave wit d right hand he took wit d left c wat he did wit our telecoms he gav us MTN nd co but totally destroyed our NITEL c all d probs he escalated in the N/Delta c his protection of our democracy 4 8yrs but completely ruined the democratic process the list goes on and on. The ascension of Goodluck shld not be credited to Obj but 1st to Yaradua for always insisting on following due process no matter how long it took and the perseverance of Goodluck. |
