A lot of individuals at 1999 would have served us better than Obasanjo, starting from his side, we had Olu Falae, Bola Ige, Bola Tinubu, from the east Dr Alex Ekhueme would have been better than him Obj was meant to stabilize the polity but hed ende up heating it up more than anyone would have expected Yaradua will do better than OBJ.

Obasanjo is a different breed of guy. He doesn't care about any damn afenifere,mend or biafra BS. Before obj was in office everyone was still hiding behind tribal names, he was the first to reach across tribal lines no doubt. He was even the first to want to terminate military rule. 

When he dies and if Nigeria has worse leader, Nigerians be sayin how "better" Obj was.

that is why he left us where he did couldnt solve basic problems and introduced new ones. That is why instead of resolving the ND issues amicably he excarbeted them by sacking communities e.g ODI, he does not understand the meaning of dialogue. You should stop posting this sort of insults to our sensibilities OBJ IS THE BIGGEST ERROR TO HAVE HAPPENED TO THIS COUNTRY THAT IS EVEN ENOUGH REASON TO LEAVE HIM BEHIND BARS

Does Yaradua need a reason to jail OBJ there is no short supply of reasons OBJ is as guilty as Ibori, lets forget all this people i am surprised we seem to have forgotten el rufai so soon all h wants is attention. I can place a bet that on arrival he wont be bothered by anyone because Yaradua has no reason to grudge him.
For me i think OBJ is the real mistake we made as a nation anything you can think of that OBJ gave with his right hand i bet you he took 3times with his left, I believe that Yaradua will perform better.

I believe that this is another step in the right direction and a journey of a million miles begins with a step in d right direction, those asking for true federalism should understand that the US did not get where they are in one day there was some giving and taking and even till today it is still developing, We are yet to start seeing reactions the president has done his part he is forwarding it to the national assembly for their approval as representatives of the different people so i expect some reactions and possibly destroying the plan but i believe that if we all want peace we should let this go and let the communities producing the wealth develop themselves.

When we place this gesture side by side with the FGs proposal to also commit $950m its share of the $2b to the Niger delta i think we can make a judgement on his sincerity in bringing peace development and prosperity to this troubled region.

Let us support this man who takes his time in doing what is right and we should not forget this is not a one man government,

In the past do queues appear and disaapear from your fuel stations witout an increase in the price of fuel, most times we even beg that they increase it so we can have it but the recent fuel queues due to rumors have disappeared and at my last check the prices are still the same.

Is d planned removal of subsidy a failure and now we know better there was no agreement with marketers to remove the subsidy by Nov1 but instead the govt has entered into dialogue with labour on the planned deregulation, that is democracy at work.

I think this is a new era for our democracy, first for Soludo to come out ahead of Uba in d PDP has a lot to say about what the PDP hopes to achieve which is present a marketable candidate who can command the peoples respect and hope to win in a free and fair contest.

Policies set out by Soludo as d CBN governor made the banks in Nigeria the highest employer of graduates with a good package can we say the same for the other two candidates.

Lets look at it this way Soludo could have looked at using the CBN as a place to employ nigerians, what would he have achieved employ little increase d inefficiency nd corruption in d CBN but instead hs drove and sustained the consolidation wiped out cases where banks operate only in a restrictive and 'lucrative' area that is why u can find banks in your villages.

Gov Obi and Ngige what was their contribution to employment for the youths as governors of the state where they able to sustain a policy that ensured that their youths were gainfully employed or were also in d habit of sharing motor bikes sewing machines how many corporate organisations did they ensure were made to recruit Nigerians and pay them well.

If Soludo should even lose out i would like to see the president give him a chance at the petroleum industry because he is a reformer and performer.

when the debtors too the loans did they follow due process when they started defaulting did they follow due process maybe we should know before this period some debtors actually threaten their bankers and even shut them out of their offices when the bankers come around asking for repayment or even a way to restructure now they are all talking of due process.
if u made a business error you should pay for it if u thought a share price would go up took a loan to fuel ur speculation and then the share price drops yous hould be prepared to pay up.
the stock brokers are actually the source of all the problema we are facing stocks especially shares are not meant for speculative investment the are supposed to be invested in wisely.
stock brokers start paying up the masses whose funds u have taken cannot be asked to share ur risks as we dont ever share in your profits

I think Bankole is right but he should also go to his house and tell them some truths to stop wastin time chasing the past but instead they should start looking forward cos that is what the president is doing. The niger delta governors have been given an opportunity to etch their names in gold history will always judge all of them its a clean slate this is time to start putting money in the right place and not for building hotels in Abuja for their indigenes and transparency plazas but instead in making life better for d people of d niger delta

Well for me i would vote for yar adua for a second term cos i can see that he understands the politics of nigeria and he is a slow and staedy leader who is more interested n the structures than in the personalities

What other support do he need to achieve all his empty promises?
Amnesty is not what the ND people need, what they need is a good life, good medical health care, infrastructure being put in place or pass the bill for states resource control. If not this is jst like taking panadol temporarily for malarial instead of the proper cure.
How many Niger Delta benefited from the amnesty? Only the criminal parts of MEND who joined MEND becoz of what they will benefit from the government. Those that fight for the real course will never give up until they achieve their aims, which is bringing Justice to the people of ND.
Lets see how many months this will last b4 you start hearing another blast on pipelines.



Mr prince all that u said is needed by the niger deltans can we provide it in an atmosphere of unrest, my answer is NO the president has shown that he has the capacity to solve problems infrastructures can not be provided and completed in sixty days good life will not come overnight and a nation does not ever stop developing its medical facilities and infrastructures. I know that the militants who came out to accept the amnesty are not all criminals some of them fought nd believed that they were fighting for their communities, but at a critical time like this the nation needs a clean slate to start afresh and that is what the president has asked for and that is what he is getting now his job as just begun as he captured it when he said "Today i make this pledge that hte work in the niger delta has just begun".

maybe you should also consider the other options the president had before choosing the amnesty option, he was asked to use the JTF to flush militants out and on that attempt we lost more civillians than militants the Americans wanted us to invite their marines yet  my president declined this sort of scenario is what we had in sudan darfur and they are yet to have peace. Let us all thank yaradua for making the militants surrender without resorting to a civil or militant war and pray that his God would continue to lead him to lead us out of this state we have found ourselves in

I think its unfair to refer to Yaradua as an unsincere person i believe that he has proven himself to be sincere, lets take our minds back to when he assumed office and we all went on strike following the fuel price increases and other matters while he pleaded that we went back to work labour stood their grounds until he finally committed himself that prices of petroleum products would not be increased without the approval of labour and related unions who were incorporated in the pricing commitee now 2 yrs after we are yet to see a price increase instead we have witnessed a reduction that has been sustained despite all what our oil marketers may have wanted, what abt his handling of the lagos council funds, what abt his handling of court pronouncemnts what abt his handling of the niger delta issue among others, he has shown a capacity to be sincere by even coming out openly to say "the elections that brought me in were flawed" how many of our leaders have been able to agree to that simple fact.

On the issue of the passports of the duo i believe that truly the president might not be aware of the move by the D.G, and the D.G cld have done it thinking he would get a presidential pat on the back the same way the ambassador gave his advise hoping the president or whoever gave the order would reconsider, but Mr president would only accept your assistanc if itis within the law and any other underhand deal no matter what its purpose would find you on your own, this D.G has been in that office before Yaradua came in and maybe he thot it was still business as usual but i say sorry to him and hope other officials take a cue and stop embarrasing our nation.

I also want to plead with us most especially the youths that it is not as bad as we think it is the president is trying his best and i believe that if we exercise patience and give our support this nation will achieve more instead of looking at govt especially the president as an enemy we should look at him as a partner in achieving our dreams as a nation.

for us to even be talking of earning N18b daily we must not forget to commend the president on the amnesty issue cos he won the battle against the militancy without a gunshot he is indeed a man of peace, based on this i enjoin all of us, law abiding citizens of dis country to support the president as he tries to achieve what has never been achieved in this country.
if he could solve the nigerdelta/militant problem without unnecessary chaos i believe that once the due process is firmly established in this country every other thing will fall in place, rideon Mr President
